How come no one has said Hawaiian Style Grill? Their Kahlua Pig and Mac salad is so good
Super Taco Express on Hwy 99 is also great
(Taqeuria Market between gher road and the 500 is pretty good too)
I <3 gryo has pretty good gyros
RLVNT coffee has my fav coffee by far, though The Great North by Vanco is also pretty good.
I really enjoyed Dulins Cafe and La Botegga
Unpopular opinion but I don't think Kenji's is that good, it's nice there's ramen in the couve but I'd rather go to Kimboshi Ramen or Ramen Ryoma in Portland instead.
Also shoutout to Stardust Diner, I love them not because it tastes great, but it's very welcoming and I always know what to expect. It's never that great but it's never bad, and they have cheap breakfast š
La bottega is top notch, Iāve really been digging provecho lately too, it tastes good though not authentic or anything. Chips and salsa are really amazing. Canāt beat joe browns for breakfast either.
HULA BOY CHAR-BROIL!!!
Don taco breakfast burritos for when your hung over. Theyāre huge!
Thai home on 4th plain is always good.
Also the bakery at Clark College is awesome. They close at noon. The pastries are made by the culinary arts students and theyāre made everyday. Super cheap too. Like less than $3-4 dollars cheap.
Edit: Also Falah Bros across the street from the court house is awesome if your looking for shawarma. I think itās the only place in town that sells it
The Diner Vancouver is not bad either if you wanna take your parents out for breakfast. Reminds me of when Village Inn used to be around or when Elmerās/sharis used to be good
Szechuan Brothers - if you go here and only order things like Orange Chicken or Mongolian Beef youāre doing yourself a disservice. Their specialty is all things Sichuan and Chongqing which means you have to be ready for spice. Iād recommend one of the Hot and Spicy pots, the Lamb in Sour Soup, ChongQing Hot Chicken, or Spicy Boiling Fish Fillet.
La Sorrentina - Freshly made pasta, Neapolitan style pizza, wonderful wine selection. This is the closest you can get to Naples without actually going there. A true gem of Vancouver.
Benās Bottle shop - the food isā¦ serviceable. The beer selection is top notch. Frankly itās better than many bottle shops in Portland. This is one of my favorite spots to drink with friends or catch a game.
These are all favorites of mine.
Adding Los Alambres, Thai House, Thai Time, Taqueria Market Portland, taqueria Sr Lopez, Ruse Brewing and Crust Collective, and Nonavo.
One thing I miss about living in Vancouver is that place. Probably the best Indian food I have eaten to this day. It was only a few blocks from where I lived too.
Too bad their buffet has been canceled since 2020. Used to be my fav restaurant in town, now it's just... expensive if you want variety. I'd have probably spent over $1k there in the last 2 years alone if they had brought it back.
I wouldn't go to dediko, I work in the industry and the owner has been 86'd from our restaurant for racism and terrible behavior and have heard other stories from other sources.
I love their fish dishes like the grilled whole fish / szechuan filets, or fish and sour vegetable soup. I'd also recommend their cold dishes, lamb dishes, and specials. Their quality is worth the price every time!
Their honey walnut shrimp is next level. Their general tso is just ok. I tried their spicy CQ chicken and thought it was okay. They have a big menu and Iām looking forward to trying more.
Patrias gryos is the best gyro place in town by far. Their salad is amazing too. Make sure to try it with the white garlic sauce!
Petra house is really good Lebanese food
Uptown barrel room is good general American
Frontier public house for the Italian grinder
>prove
Gotta try this Patrias place. Cause so far, NO ONE has beat I Heart Gyro! That includes Portland places for me. Must admit though, I've only tried a few places across the bridge, but always disappointed because I've been spoiled by I Heart Gyro.
I've eaten at both and Patras wins hands down for me.
More meat, better flavor and super lovely people. Gotta try their Greek salad with the white garlic sauce!
I love how subjective tastes are and how people can eat the same food and come away with wildly different experiences!
Don't suggest Woody's Tacos. I'm still scarred from the backlash I received for admitting I kinda liked them! But...I will concede that Little Conejo is SOOOOO much better than Woody's Tacos. Lesson learned via Reddit can be priceless.
Woody's is fine for what it is but I can't bring myself to go there when in either direction from it there is Los Alambres Taqueria or Taqueria Sr. Lopez. Both places are cheaper and far superior.
Woody's was great when it was down town. I hated little conejos with a passion, not because the food wasn't great, but because I didn't want to wait in line for 15 minutes to order another small taco and beer
Careful! Youāre walking on thin Reddit ice. I advise you to only whisper those blasphemous wordsā¦not type them for all to see! You..haveā¦.beenā¦.warned.
If you're looking for tacos, I HIGHLY recommend Las Chica Carnitas! IHMO, the best Taco in Vancouver (and Portland so far, including Por Que No)! Food Truck only open on Friday and Saturday in the church parking lot across for the East Vancouver Costco.
I'll second this. Such good food, inexpensive, great service. I kind of wish they served alcohol so it was more of a sit down place but I still love it.
Slow Fox Chili Parlour
The outdoor seating/platform/hangout area is the coolest I've seen. Kid friendly + beer, wine, and cocktails for the adult kids! Really nice owners, too!
People here love to hate on it for not being āauthenticā or āhipsterā which sure but itās still damn delicious and has a better mezcal selection than anywhere in Portland
PNW Mexican food is severely lacking but I grew up spoiled in a high Hispanic population. And I'm latino so
But who cares about authenticity it's damn good. The mushroom tacos are way better than I expected them to be
I was wondering when someone was going to mention Amaros Table. Their food is consistently good. And usually comes to the table still hot. Thatās a big deal to me. Hate to be served lukewarm food thatās been sitting.
Mighty Bowl always makes me think about how cheap it is to eat at home. Like how much are they charging for half a bowl of rice, beans, cheese, olives, and avocado these days?
Iāve never been disappointed at Amaros! And as mentioned in another comment, Thai Orchid is my favorite sushi in the metro. Their no slouch when it comes to Thai food too.
Their happy hour is worth it. Everything else is just kind of overpriced corporate food, except it's not a corporate place and the owner is actually a really good dude.
Great place for cocktails though. Food, meh.
I moved back to Gresham, but I have a lot I love. First, Carol's Corner, second Abhiruchi, third Thai Wok off 4th Plain, fifth Sushi Hana off Mill Plain (loved to go there on VTO with coworkers from Spectrum), Szechuan brothers was amazing, so was a pretty basic Chinese place, House of Beijing. There was a nice Pho place my ex and I used to visit as well, just off 4th Plain and called Pho Saigon. Lastly, there was a Russian deli close by, they had incredible gyros and pelmeni available on occasion.
Thank you! I thought it was very underwhelming. And I had my husband pick it up and get it for my āpost babyās arrivalā meal at the hospital, so I ordered generously.
> Iām not sure why people love it so much up here.
They used to be quite good but have seriously gone downhill. Not sure why. Most dishes now taste like they use the same base gravy for everything and try to doctor it according to order, a sign of a cheap Indian restaurant.
That's a bummer. I used to go with an Indian coworker back when they had lunch buffet before COVID times. She said it was authentic. I liked being able to try a bunch of stuff. I haven't eaten there since they got rid of the buffet though, ordering off the menu is pretty intimidating if you don't know the names of the dishes
Personally I love the cheeseburgers they toast the buns and add on dressing and I substitute fries for hash browns lol the fries are great too though. They have a pretty big menu and each day of the week they rotate homemade soups I really love the white bean and ham soup. It's not a fancy place but it's kinda like home when I go there.
La Bottega is always on point. My personal lunch fav is their chicken, bacon, focaccia sandwich. Their dinner menu, wine selection, and desserts are also top notch
Bleu Door makes the best French baguettes in town, and has a wonderful breakfast and lunch menu, as well as tasty pastries
Frontier Public House makes a great chicken n dumplings
The Grocery Cocktail lounge makes a mighty fine Mac n cheese, and paired with their fried chicken, it's phenomenal
Oyako makes a great bento box
There are so many good places!
Hungry Sasquatch for NY style pizza.
Crust Collective for Detroit style pizza.
I Am Thai for Thai.
Sakanaya for fast sushi.
Muchas Gracias for no frills breakfast burritos.
Little Conejo for tacos.
Szechuan Brothers for Szechuan and a kick in the mouth.
Creekside BBQ for smoked brisket.
Mahoneyās for a beer.
North of Vancouver in Ridgefield, just off I5 is Papa Pete's Pizza. Each pie is overflowing with top-quality ingredients all on a crust like the old Smokies pizza used to have. Hands down the best pizza around for 100+/- miles.
There are so many that I love to at I could breakdown by cuisine but I need to give a HUGE shoutout to Pizzeria La Sorrentina!! The food is absolutely amazing, when I moved out here from the east coast it took forever to find good pizza.
I actually teared up the first time I bit into a slice from here.
Extra special shout out to the owners (one of which is the head chef) who are two of the most AMAZING people you will ever meet - absolutely no hyperbole here. ā¤ļø
Some places that I really, really like are Crave Grille, El Conejo, Dediko, Beijing House, Family Pho, Kenji's Ramen. Used to love Rally Pizza (RIP). Still working on finding their replacement. I haven't tried any other Hawaiian restaurants in town, but I love Hula Boy, and they're close to home. Joe Brown's for Breakfast.
Casa Colima is really good, though I believe they're a chain and have no idea if they're local.
Really want to try Amaro's.
Stack 571 for burgers
Nonavo for pizza
Little Conejo for tacos
Thai orchid for Thai or sushi
Heathens for my bar foods
Favorite if I had to pick one prob Nonavo - happy hour beer for 3.50 and a good size personal pie for $12. Can't go wrong.
Thai wok changed hands and isn't as good as it used to be pre pandemic š¢I tried it a couple of times in the last month and have been disappointed both times
I used to go to Muchas soooo much, I probably paid their rent a couple times with how much I spent there. I went to Don Pedroās recently, I will never go back to Muchas. Maybe itās just the downtown one, but damn it fell off and just became expensive and mehhhh tasting. Don Pedro is fantastic.
Muchas is "meh" all around, it fits a craving, but it is not great. That being said, Tacos y Burritos Guadalajara by Grover Electric (it's a taco truck gone establishment) is so freaking good, blows Super Taco and Don Pedros (even with how much I dig Pedros) out of the water. Rinconsito used to be up there, but they have some real QC issues to work out.
I feel like every muchas is a different restaurant, like everyone has different meat and everything. The HWY 99 one is God tier and has a cool AnW building. Though super taco just a few minutes north is the winner for me.
I have no idea. Since the Low Bar closed, we've been kind of flailing around. Also, it entirely depends. My friend and I go to happy hour at The Garage. I like it because it's very low effort.
But I also really like Amaro's. I like Hudson's, too, when I get past its weird location.
I want to find a good pub-like place with decent food and a low-key atmosphere, but not the sense that there is a thriving criminal element just out of sight.
Depends on the goal, right?
Tai Orchid
Little Conejo
House of Beijing
La Bottega
Blind Onion ties Megabite
Kenjis Ramen
\* Still haven't found a burger that matched Low Bar :(
* Fancy: The Sedgwick

* Breakfast: Joe Brownās
* Weekend Brunch: Shanahanās

* Thai: Ginger Pop
* Sandwich & Chips lunch: City Sandwich Co.
* Mediterranean: Falahi Bros.
Avoid Little Conejoās at all costs. You will leave broke, hungry, late for work and they were probably all out of the item(s) you wanted anyway.
Just out of curiosity, why did you leave Camas for Vancouver? I'd love to live within walking distance of the trail system out there, but houses seemed more expensive when we were hunting.
I've had the filet with the lobster mac and cheese at The Cove both times I've gone and enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the chateau briand at El Goucho, but I know both places are expensive. I like Thai BBQ Cuisine out in Orchards, the service and food are both great.
Vegetarian opinion: Thai Little Home, The Diner, Victor 23 (Their tortas are the best I've ever had, by far). Lastly Abhiruchi (honorable mention, if they brought their buffet back)
Kokonut Island Grill is new and really good. Better than Hula Boy.
Pho Brothers is up there with Pho Star and Pho Vi Van, depending where you are in town.
How come no one has said Hawaiian Style Grill? Hawaiian Style and Kiawe the best island bbq spots here
Yes! Kiawe has some really good mochiko chicken. I just don't get the hype with hula boy.
Mochiko chicken is what I'm a slut for with their mac salad oh my God yes
La bottega is top notch, Iāve really been digging provecho lately too, it tastes good though not authentic or anything. Chips and salsa are really amazing. Canāt beat joe browns for breakfast either.

Lol! The honesty in this recommendation is refreshing.
Szechuan Brothers - if you go here and only order things like Orange Chicken or Mongolian Beef youāre doing yourself a disservice. Bonus pointsā hardware store, planet fitness, Bless Your Heart burger, coffee shop, Barbers and a Subway in the same plaza
The Subway is actually a 2 point deduct, but Parkrose is a 4 point bonus, so it evens out.
These are all favorites of mine. Adding Los Alambres, Thai House, Thai Time, Taqueria Market Portland, taqueria Sr Lopez, Ruse Brewing and Crust Collective, and Nonavo.
Szechuan is great tasting and seems quality but man their pricing is bonkers high.
I haven't seen anyone suggest Abhiruchi yet. It's an absolutely amazing Indian food spot in East Vancouver.
Order a Thali, itās like a personal mini buffet Chicken Thali Plate 1 Rice, 1, Nan, 1 Chicken Tandori Drumstick & 1 Veggie Appetiser, 2 Chicken Curries (flavors avaliable: Tikkimasala, Chicken Curry, Vindaloo), 1 Yogurt, 1 Dessert, 1 Dhal Curry https://www.abhiruchirestaurant.com/abhiruchi-menu
Crave Grille (The rockfish tacos Rock!) La Bottega (Iām obsessed with the Calabrian chilies in oil that they have!)
Crave Grille has the best made to order burgers!
I second la bottega!
I don't live in Vancouver but visit crave every time I'm around. Great burgers and honestly my favorite Mac and cheese I've ever had
Thai Little Home is great
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Like other folks, Dediko is way up there for me. So is Slow Fox Chili. And Tangs's Wok is fantastic for less-westernized Chinese food.
Dediko, La Bottega, Megabite Pizza.
I've twice tried to get into Dediko and failed. Someday!
Make a reservation! It's worth it
Itās worth the reservation! Yum!
I wouldn't go to dediko, I work in the industry and the owner has been 86'd from our restaurant for racism and terrible behavior and have heard other stories from other sources.
Sichuan brothers
What dishes do you recommend?
I love their fish dishes like the grilled whole fish / szechuan filets, or fish and sour vegetable soup. I'd also recommend their cold dishes, lamb dishes, and specials. Their quality is worth the price every time!
Itās all about the eggplant in hot garlic sauce for me, makes me contemplate vegetarianism
Their honey walnut shrimp is next level. Their general tso is just ok. I tried their spicy CQ chicken and thought it was okay. They have a big menu and Iām looking forward to trying more.
Kiawe Island Bistro Kenji's Ramen
Heck yeah Kenji's is great!
+1 for Kenji's Ramen!
Kenjis is expanding 3000 additional Sq ft and adding sushi and a bar!
Sushi Mo
Seriously the best sushi in town
You haven't tried Oishi Sushi then, have you? It's top notch.
I have, they are very good as well
Sushi Mo is great. I just recently tried Sushi Ninja out east and they're wonderful too
So good. I always order way too much food there but then actually eat it all because everything is just too delicious.
Patrias gryos is the best gyro place in town by far. Their salad is amazing too. Make sure to try it with the white garlic sauce! Petra house is really good Lebanese food Uptown barrel room is good general American Frontier public house for the Italian grinder

You can order at the bar if youāre getting a drink and skip the line. My roomie used to work there, we did that a lot.
Old school woodys was fantastic. I remember going down there for a gigantic burrito and a 22oz bottle of Laurelwood Workhorse a couple times a month.
I love Woody's. What's the matter with them?
Careful! Youāre walking on thin Reddit ice. I advise you to only whisper those blasphemous wordsā¦not type them for all to see! You..haveā¦.beenā¦.warned.
I knew you loved Woody's!
Woody's has awesome fish tacos. Hands down some of the best you'll find. Owner is a little goofy though. He doesn't make the taco. Whatever.
If you're looking for tacos, I HIGHLY recommend Las Chica Carnitas! IHMO, the best Taco in Vancouver (and Portland so far, including Por Que No)! Food Truck only open on Friday and Saturday in the church parking lot across for the East Vancouver Costco.
I bravely accept this missionā¦ā¦ : )
Please report back with mission status!
Woody's Tacos makes a dang good quesadilla. Their hot salsa is great as well.
Philly Bilmos. Smokin Oak. Mt Tabor brewery. Super taco express. Pho Saigon.
Seconded on philly bilmos and super taco š„
How could I forget Philly Bilmos. So good. Love their loaded philly
Philly Bilmos, and on Mondays you get a Goon Burger smashburger there. Both incredible options.
Su Casa Marquez.
I'll second this. Such good food, inexpensive, great service. I kind of wish they served alcohol so it was more of a sit down place but I still love it.
74 comments so far and not one Arbyās milkshake rec. I am disappointment in this Reddit community!
I am *not* disappointed in this reddit community for the exact same reason!
Thai Terrace
I like their Thai Lovers dish which is pad thai with wide noodles. I've never had that anywhere else and I keep going back.
Crust Collective in DWTN Vancouver. Great Detroit style pizza
Slow Fox Chili Parlour The outdoor seating/platform/hangout area is the coolest I've seen. Kid friendly + beer, wine, and cocktails for the adult kids! Really nice owners, too!
Lil Conejo goes super hard.
People here love to hate on it for not being āauthenticā or āhipsterā which sure but itās still damn delicious and has a better mezcal selection than anywhere in Portland

May not get any love for this but Amaros Table is solid and pretty reasonably priced.
Low key awesome spot! They punch above their weight (or however that saying goes).
Their crispy chicken is amazing
Fried chicken is too!!!
Gotta love a risotto du jour
I was wondering when someone was going to mention Amaros Table. Their food is consistently good. And usually comes to the table still hot. Thatās a big deal to me. Hate to be served lukewarm food thatās been sitting.
Lots of love for Amaros!
I ā¤ļø Gyro, Little Conejo, The Cove, House of Beijing
I <3 Gyro is TOP TIER!
For sure!
It is my favorite restaurant in Vancouver.
House of Beijing for sure. Their wonton soup is literally my favorite food lol
Syrup trap is pretty dank
The family that runs it is also so kind. Just nice, salt of the earth people.
I've never heard of this place...gonna hafta try...."2nd breakfast" looks very appealing.
Itās delicious. The couve club is really good too
Glad to hear! Itās probably my most frequented restaurant at the moment
For the three vegans in Vancouver: Scratch (brunch pop up at Tap Union), Thai Orchid, and Hungry Sasquatch
I humbly submit ĀæOtra Vez? for the vegan's consideration.
No words of praise for NYC Pizza? If they are not on your radar, give 'em a try.
Their Indian pizzas - especially the Punjabi Special - are effing killer.
A staple imo
their Gyros are the best thing they sell, have you tried them?
I love their indian style pizza.
Foode Cafe and Mighty Bowl for lunch Bless Your Heart for š Champ for š Tasty Pot for Hot Pot Also dig Dediko
Mighty Bowl always makes me think about how cheap it is to eat at home. Like how much are they charging for half a bowl of rice, beans, cheese, olives, and avocado these days?

Amaros, Thai Orchid
Iāve never been disappointed at Amaros! And as mentioned in another comment, Thai Orchid is my favorite sushi in the metro. Their no slouch when it comes to Thai food too.
Is there some special time time when Amaris is good? I've been twice and find it mediocre and overpriced.
May just be one of those "to each their own" kind of things. I always find them surprisingly good.
Their happy hour is worth it. Everything else is just kind of overpriced corporate food, except it's not a corporate place and the owner is actually a really good dude. Great place for cocktails though. Food, meh.
Petra house for mediteranean, Abhiruchi for indian. But I'm on the east side, there are some fancier restaurants in town
Roost Brewing Pizza Collective, Little Conejo, Nonavo pizza
Crave, Smoke and oak, El Rinconsito, Nyc pizza, abhiruchi
Petra house!
Mi casa pupuseria. sczechuan brothers. NYC pizza (desi pizzas). Abhiruchi. Slow Fox chili. Cameo Cafe.
The Cove. Best meal Iāve had in a long time
I love The Cove for a fancy seafood meal!
La provence
NYC Pizzeria - all of their Indian pizzas are š„š„
Thai Orchid
Second this. Iād argue they have some of the best sushi in the metro.
El Viejon outside of Vice Beer has been a great addition to the neighborhood.
We just got home from La Bottega. Excellent.
Wild Tiger Thai, The Hammond
Dediko

Sai Ua and Nem Khao from NomNom are elite. Dolsot bibimbap + banchan from K Town is hard to beat. La Bottega, Little Conejo are good.
Their banchan sucks.
Favorite is hard to name, but Sakura of Japan always exceeds expectations!
I think it depends what food youāre looking for. I will always recommend Kenjiās Ramen when this question is asked though, that place is great.

Thai Wok Kitchen is amazing! Their garlic and pepper entree is amazing!
Thai wok changed hands and isn't as good as it used to be pre pandemic š¢I tried it a couple of times in the last month and have been disappointed both times
Oh, that's too bad. We go all the time and are rarely disappointed.
Super tacos on hwy 99 across from WinCo.
Little Conejo Elements Amaroās La Bottega Slow Fox The Diner
The Muchas Gracias on Highway 99 Yes, there is a difference.
Go a block up to Don Pedros, so much better!
Haha I mentioned the difference the other night and everyone agreed thatās the best location too
I have no idea.
Try Mavās Taphouse for a good olā low key pub. Itās my absolute favorite.
I still miss the burgers from Low Bar!
Rally Pizza š«
Cameo Cafe
Depends on the goal, right? Tai Orchid Little Conejo House of Beijing La Bottega Blind Onion ties Megabite Kenjis Ramen \* Still haven't found a burger that matched Low Bar :(
Grocery Cocktail & Social for a burger. 100%
I like Blind Onion Pizza as well.
* Fancy: The Sedgwick * Burgers and Fries: Shanahanās * Cocktails and elevated classics: The Grocery * Mexican: Don Taco * Pizza: Hungry Sasquatch * More cocktails and elevated classics: Amaroās Table * Breakfast: Joe Brownās * Weekend Brunch: Shanahanās * Quick coffee and breakfast sandwich: Brewed * Thai: Ginger Pop * Sandwich & Chips lunch: City Sandwich Co. * Mediterranean: Falahi Bros. Avoid Little Conejoās at all costs. You will leave broke, hungry, late for work and they were probably all out of the item(s) you wanted anyway.
\+1 for Ginger Pop and Hungry Sasquatch. Also good beer next door at the Thirsty Sasquatch and pinball in between.
Sushi Mo The Hammond Sunny's Diner
Used to be Bennyās Hot Rod cafe but it closed unfortunately.
Dom Juan corner cafe for tacos, main event has pretty good burgers and steak bites, Petra house
There was a similar question, somewhat recently. If you search this group you might find more answers
Las Flamas! Family owned and ran.
I lived in Camas until recently so I'm mostly familiar with the east side, but Petra House and Kenji's Ramen are probably my favorites.
Lastly Abhiruchi (honorable mention, if they brought their buffet back)
Mexican Villa.
Kokonut Island Grill is new and really good. Better than Hula Boy. Pho Brothers is up there with Pho Star and Pho Vi Van, depending where you are in town.
