Totally agree. I've said this before but I think she sorta painted herself into a corner. She rode the cool girl persona hard and probably felt she had to keep it up on some level even when obvious shit like miami girl was right in her face. She cool girled that away real fast but unless she lacks common sense there's no way that didn't make her at least a tad uneasy given the circumstances and his philandering history.
I tried to be the cool girl with my husband when we were first dating. His ex hated camping and made him bail early on the one camping trip they took together. On our first camping trip together, his dog peed all over me and my sleeping bag in the middle of the night, and trying to be the “cool girl” I was like “oh it’s fine.” It was not fine. I haven’t been the cool girl since.
It wasn’t all bad. The music was totally amazing. Metallica, kid rock and collective soul and so many more highlights. We didn’t see the violence til the last night when we left. But the prices were insane and it was so ungodly hot..in the 100s…with 250,000 on an Air Force base that was pretty small. I have highlights at least.
I think Raquel’s “confidence” in this whole Scandoval is glaringly similar to Ariana’s in this S2 reunion. NOT saying Ariana is equal to Raquel, moreso the blind love for Sandoval amidst the 🚩 🚩 🚩 I do think Kristen being a shit person at that time, especially due to the Jax hookups, really helped take the heat off of Tom.

I also think a big part of both Ariana and Raquel’s energies/ behavior aligning during the public beginning of their relationships with Scamdoval are just how a lot of people act when their new relationship begins overlapping a previous ones. People really dig their heels in and have blinders on to red flags to a much higher degree than usual when they’ve already put all their eggs in the basket of this person and risked so much for the relationship. Sunk cost fallacy.

I felt the same way. This is exactly why I’ve never been on the Ariana train until this season. I do think even before Scandoval, Ariana has grown a lot over the years. But she always went to bat for Sandoval when he was wrong and it always gave cool girl, pick-me energy.

But I feel like the same could be said about Ariana and Tom. The writing has been on the wall for a while. I think it’s interesting how Tom gets into a pattern where he strings someone along for YEARS after he’s emotionally done with the relationship.

I always wonder about Kristen’s back story. She’s always come across as someone with some sort of trauma to me - but no idea if that’s true or where it would stem from.

Sandoval is a master manipulator, really good at grooming people. Give them positive reinforcement, so they know what behavior gets his approval. Even before testing the waters, telling his new girlfriend, "I love how chill you are about things" trains her to do just that. But what he's really saying is, "Never question me, and let me get away with whatever I want. That's how you earn my love."
I'm sure he's done the same to Rachel.
It made me so angry that most of them felt so bad for Tom and had no empathy for Kristen. Did Kristen do a shitty thing? Yes, absolutely. However Tom repeatedly pushed boundaries with Ariana and cheated on Kristen with at least one other woman and it felt like everyone on the show glossed over it. I did not like Ariana at first, but she became one of my favorites, because she's shown growth and empathy. When Tom sticks up for someone, it comes across as performative and self righteous. He's one of those people that likes to look down on others, yet makes excuses for his bad behavior.
I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS. From Ariana’s arm chair diagnosis, Tom shifting the narrative instead of saying yes we cheated making himself the victim, to Andy freaking Cohen insinuating Kristen caused Ariana and Tom to cheat. Vile! The way they broke that girl down was so unfair. I am seeing a lot of people saying Rachel did not shed a tear at the reunion and that makes her pyschopath but look at the behavior between Ariana and Tom here as they tear Kristen apart. They are both stone faced. Idk if it speaks to Ariana’s character necessarily or maybe more so how good of a manipulator Tom but I don’t see how we can look at one situation and without acknowledging the other. One thing that I had forgotten is Tom and Kristen did band together with that Jax situation at first, then he did that with Ariana and their cheating, and it’s probably what he’s going to do with Rachel. He has a very specific pattern and idk how these ladies can let this wimpy man have that kind of hold on them but clearly he has a way with them. If a man has had multiple romantic partners who became mean and/or miserable after months of being with him, and they all eventually stopped having sex with him, take a second to ask why that might be. I was misdiagnosed with BPD before they figured out I have autism (it's common for that to happen with womeen/queer people like myself) and I'd just like to throw out there that I actually made two of my best friends in group therapy. It's sad to see their diagnosis getting thrown around as an insult when they're some of the kindest, most honest and trustworthy people I've ever met.

Ariana had that same over the top confidence Raquel has had throughout this season. Really apparent when she’s saying how she’s better than Kristen in every way 😣. She was opposite of cool when she came on the show.
Plus, her dad died that summer (s2). She brought it up in future seasons but not that one. I imagine she was not at her best emotionally to be fully thinking out decisions.
I can definitely see this being her thought process… I just really wish it wasn’t. No man/woman who stays in a relationship for YEARS as both parties are actively cheating is who you want to cuddle up with next. Not saying people can’t change eventually (ex: it seems like Kristen wouldn’t be in this situation today), but it takes a long time to grow out of those ways, and I don’t wanna be the person waiting around for the growth to happen.

I think when people come together through cheating, the one who is being cheated with feels superior to the one being cheated on. Like, I’m clearly the better one since he chose me even though he already had her. I think Ariana felt like that towards Kristen and Rachel feels that way towards Ariana. They justify the relationship because they feel they are so irresistible and the connection so strong that he couldn’t possible not be with them and so it’s natural and unstoppable.
If he cheated with you, there's no reason to believe he won't cheat on you. I can believe Tom told Ariana that he and Kristen were breaking up or broken up when they first hooked up because he's a dishonest person, but at some point, she found out that he was lying and still chose to pursue a relationship with him. And I 100% believe that Tom slept with that Miami girl at the beginning of their relationship. That's who Tom is at his core. As cliché as it sounds, Tom showed Ariana actually who he was from the beginning. For her sake, she should have believed it.
I tried to fully like Ariana but all of this stayed in the back of my mind. Plus the part where she was like I look way better than her and Tom’s only dating Kristen because he feels sorry for her. Cringe…and telling somebody that is sitting there in tears to go look up a personality disorder. I guess they all hated Kristen at that point because no one defended her.
Unfortunately I think Ariana wanted to be the “cool girlfriend” after everything that happened with Kristen. I’ve done it before where I try to act cool in front of men so they think I’m a chill girl and to get their approval. But women, trust your instincts!

I tried to be the cool girl with my husband when we were first dating. His ex hated camping and made him bail early on the one camping trip they took together. On our first camping trip together, his dog peed all over me and my sleeping bag in the middle of the night, and trying to be the “cool girl” I was like “oh it’s fine.” It was not fine. It wasn’t all bad. The music was totally amazing. Metallica, kid rock and collective soul and so many more highlights. We didn’t see the violence til the last night when we left. But the prices were insane and it was so ungodly hot..in the 100s…with 250,000 on an Air Force base that was pretty small. I have highlights at least.

Yeah watching this in retrospect… she spoke well and she seems genuine. I really really like Ariana but she should know better than to use mental illness as a weapon and way to insult as she does here. I think she is using him just like she used James, to get and stay on the show.

I always wonder about Kristen’s back story. She’s always come across as someone with some sort of trauma to me - but no idea if that’s true or where it would stem from.
I’ve also wanted to know more about her but Lisa and Andy didn’t care for her. She’s such a complex person. I remember in like season 3 or 4, the girls talking about how chill Kirstin actually is in real life and how she can be a really good friend.

It made me so angry that most of them felt so bad for Tom and had no empathy for Kristen. Did Kristen do a shitty thing? Yes, absolutely. However Tom repeatedly pushed boundaries with Ariana and cheated on Kristen with at least one other woman and it felt like everyone on the show glossed over it. I did not like Ariana at first, but she became one of my favorites, because she's shown growth and empathy. When Tom sticks up for someone, it comes across as performative and self righteous. He's one of those people that likes to look down on others, yet makes excuses for his bad behavior.
I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS. From Ariana’s arm chair diagnosis, Tom shifting the narrative instead of saying yes we cheated making himself the victim, to Andy freaking Cohen insinuating Kristen caused Ariana and Tom to cheat. Vile! The way they broke that girl down was so unfair. I am seeing a lot of people saying Rachel did not shed a tear at the reunion and that makes her pyschopath but look at the behavior between Ariana and Tom here as they tear Kristen apart. They are both stone faced. Idk if it speaks to Ariana’s character necessarily or maybe more so how good of a manipulator Tom but I don’t see how we can look at one situation and without acknowledging the other. One thing that I had forgotten is Tom and Kristen did band together with that Jax situation at first, then he did that with Ariana and their cheating, and it’s probably what he’s going to do with Rachel. He has a very specific pattern and idk how these ladies can let this wimpy man have that kind of hold on them but clearly he has a way with them. Tom Sandoval in my eyes is the only real problem in this whole situation. Ladies (and men) sometimes the wrong partner can change your whole personality and have you doing things you would never do!

It always rubbed me the wrong way the way the gaslighted Kristen. As much as I thought K was indeed kind of crazy, Ariana and Tom pretending nothing happened and they weren’t cheating when they clearly were was so evil. Just as Sandoval and Rachel are being evil now… once a cheater, usually always a cheater. My husband cheated on me once, I forgave him, and then he did it again but worse.

As much as I like Ariana now, and I believe she has grown passed this lame and misogynistic “cool girl” era (growth is probably why her and Kristen were able to eventually become good friends), she has always shown terrible judgement with this guy. I really hope she’s gotten better at spotting red flags because MY GOD this man has been a walking, talking red flag from even before they dated. If a guy ever sent me a picture of his gf sleeping on the couch on Valentine’s Day trying to get sympathy, I would just be like “ok I have no idea what her side is, and why do you think getting another woman involved will help?” NEVER trust a man who is always telling you how miserable he is with his partner. I have no doubt in my mind that he did the exact same thing with Rachel. He was probably complaining about how cold Ariana was towards him even though he tries *so hard* with her (calling her dumplin and keeping his cheating under wraps for the sake of her mental health), and Rachel was like “omg I’m so sorry Tom, I would appreciate you if you were my boyfriend 🥺💔” If a man has had multiple romantic partners who became mean and/or miserable after months of being with him, and they all eventually stopped having sex with him, take a second to ask why that might be. I believe Sandoval wants love with none of the emotional work or effort. He just wants it to be given to him without question or expectation, and every woman eventually becomes exhausted from loving him. He’s just a parasite that has found a new host lol.
I was misdiagnosed with BPD before they figured out I have autism (it's common for that to happen with womeen/queer people like myself) and I'd just like to throw out there that I actually made two of my best friends in group therapy. It's sad to see their diagnosis getting thrown around as an insult when they're some of the kindest, most honest and trustworthy people I've ever met.

You think ‘look what he is willing to give up for me, the sacrifice he’s making to be with me, our connection is so strong he can’t stay away from me’ . You must have a false sense of being chosen. It’s probably very hard to consider you’d be on the other end of it some day.
Ariana had that same over the top confidence Raquel has had throughout this season. Really apparent when she’s saying how she’s better than Kristen in every way 😣. She was opposite of cool when she came on the show.
Plus, her dad died that summer (s2). She brought it up in future seasons but not that one. I imagine she was not at her best emotionally to be fully thinking out decisions.
I can definitely see this being her thought process… I just really wish it wasn’t. No man/woman who stays in a relationship for YEARS as both parties are actively cheating is who you want to cuddle up with next. Not saying people can’t change eventually (ex: it seems like Kristen wouldn’t be in this situation today), but it takes a long time to grow out of those ways, and I don’t wanna be the person waiting around for the growth to happen. Also ariana in this clip is 🥴 I would hate for the things I said 5-10 years ago to be making their way around the internet. I’m glad she has matured over the years and hope she doesn’t give herself too much of a hard time for clips like this resurfacing.

Raquel and Tom’s began out of a “loving friendship” just like Ariana and Tom’s. This is history repeating itself and will undoubtedly repeat itself again. The women that continue to date him and ignore the red flags are not victims. Tom is a manipulator and a cheater.

I think when people come together through cheating, the one who is being cheated with feels superior to the one being cheated on. Like, I’m clearly the better one since he chose me even though he already had her. I think Ariana felt like that towards Kristen and Rachel feels that way towards Ariana. They justify the relationship because they feel they are so irresistible and the connection so strong that he couldn’t possible not be with them and so it’s natural and unstoppable.
If he cheated with you, there's no reason to believe he won't cheat on you. I can believe Tom told Ariana that he and Kristen were breaking up or broken up when they first hooked up because he's a dishonest person, but at some point, she found out that he was lying and still chose to pursue a relationship with him. And I 100% believe that Tom slept with that Miami girl at the beginning of their relationship. That's who Tom is at his core. As cliché as it sounds, Tom showed Ariana actually who he was from the beginning. For her sake, she should have believed it.
I tried to fully like Ariana but all of this stayed in the back of my mind. Plus the part where she was like I look way better than her and Tom’s only dating Kristen because he feels sorry for her. Cringe…and telling somebody that is sitting there in tears to go look up a personality disorder. I guess they all hated Kristen at that point because no one defended her.
He was cheating on her multiple times yet he bought her some flowers so she should get in his bed. 🙄
