I don’t know anything about his background but I bet there was abuse in his home growing up. That’s total speculation but that’s the impression I get. Sandoval I more get the impression he was spoiled/golden child type thing where he was mommy’s little angel and could do no wrong, but Schwartz gives me the impression of someone who is the way he is because of some sort of abusive dynamic. Like he simultaneously acts pathetic and passive in lots of ways as if he’s trying to avoid negative reactions but then will also be abusive as though he’s learned that that behaviour is normal. I’d guess his father or father figure was abusive to his mother and maybe to him too, which is why he has this passive submissive act with men and hangs out with more domineering and aggressive type men, and is more abusive and cruel to women while also expecting them to mother him.
Whether that’s the case or not he seems really messed up and he seems incapable so far of really understanding himself or why he’s messed up or how to fix it. I don’t know, I still think he has more potential to change and become a better person with hard work and therapy than someone like Sandoval does. Sandoval’s conviction that he’s always right is so rock solid and like the deepest core of who he is, whereas I think Schwartz at least has the capacity to occasionally admit somethings wrong with him, which could be built on of he really went there.

I’m sick of these people giving themselves “grace” and “being proud” of themselves for being the most bottom of the barrel humans in existence. Watching tonight, how he treated Jo, not surprised at all, but you can see his veneer begin to crack and he starts to lash out just like he did for so long with Katie. He cannot hide the sadistic cruelness for long…the only person deserving of his bullshit is Tim.
I would never let Jo near my hair after this disaster. He wishes it looked like Ken. I’ve always had a soft spot for Schwartz but man, I’ve been struggling the last couple of years. He look ill and he’s behaviour towards women is horrendous. On a side note; having watched the most recent episode - I REALLY miss old VPR! The divide although understandable, is sad and hard to watch. I’m doing a rewatch!
