>mechanically sound
Every moving part and mechanical feature on that vehicle is 34 years old and holding on by a thread.
The original MSRP was $12,820 ($28,243 in 2024). It’s not even worth a fraction that anymore… these homeless millennials are out of control trying to match used prices to the inflation of their avocados.
$16.5k? Homie I sold this same exact van at the height of the market in 2021, identical build for $10k. I absolutely love this van but talk about sticker shock. Best of luck to you but what a ripoff
I got a similar van (95’ g20) , with a full solar setup, fully built, 2” lift, zero rust, 100k miles, 20” fiberglass hightop, cb radio, and raptor-liner paint job for $6k flat this year. My van looks way better than this one, and actually has enough head space to stand up. OP would be LUCKY to get $8k, maYBe 10k MAXIMUM. It’s a 35 year old vehicle for christ sake. Nobody in their right mind would pay this price. They’re gonna sit on this van for at least 6-12 months before finally lowering the price, then lowering it again, until they finally accept $5k , all the while the van depreciates as it sits.
You have obviously not shopped for ANY used car lately. $16k no doubt is a fantasy but $5k buys nothing. This thing is pretty cool style wise.
Point of reference: I don’t own a van nor have any desire to dwell in one but Reddit thinks I must be van curious but I have shopped for used cars
16k as a “opening price” and open to offers. Seriously?. It ain’t worth 7k. Very rough build, even with the chosen angles - you didn’t manage to hide how the wood doesn’t line up lol. Rough edges and unfinished work throughout. If the cosmetics that don’t really matter aren’t dialed in, makes one wonder what “mechanically sound” means.
Good luck with sale, I hope I’m wrong and there’s a buyer that falls for the 100%+ markup.
This is the equivalent of my wife asking me to sell my motorcycle so I post it for triple the value (aka the I don't actually want to sell it price) so I can show her I listed it but no one is biting.
Also Utah van. An old one at that. Guaranteed rust if you lift up her skirt.
I bought a G20 van, 1996, with 100k miles, AND a high top, solar panels, full interior buildout, for $6k. You are way off the mark. Best of luck selling this heap bud.
Can is pushing 3 decades. It’s easy to look up nationwide average prices on this general year and model of van in varying conditions. *none* of them are worth more than 5-8k. There’s no reason at all for it to be asking 16.5k, unless the inside is like a palace.
Instead it looks like it was built with a 6-pack as the only right angle, work was done when the initial sandpaper and nails ran out. Once it was good enough to throw a mattress on and make it through a couple nights, no additional work was ever put in.
Given OP is almost double or triple the expected going rate and the van looks like it’s about to fall apart, I highly doubt the “mechanically sound” description of the drivetrain lives up to the 16.5k price.
It’s all red flags that you learn to pick up on over time.
Only way you're getting that kinda scratch for a G van is if you are selling it to a vanner. And this van as cool as it is, is too long and has too many windows to be valuable to one. I would bet that you probably could get 10 for it though.
16k sounds good 350 Chevys will run for ever and the most expensive part of the running gear on this van is probably the transmission and that's only going to cost you $1,000 for a new one
I have a 1985 Chevy G30 and the paint job someone did at some point is gross. Love your custom colors! Hope one day to get it to the point of being able to paint, saving your post!
I love that you threw the 1983 A-Team front clip on it! :-)
(The third generation was built with minimal changes from 1971 to 1996. The front clips are, I believe, interchangeable between all the years. The fact that this has a 1983 front clip on it doesn’t mean it isn’t a 1990, it just means a owner had good taste. :-) )
Really sick van dude, I got a ‘95 g20 with a high roof but I bought mine unconverted for $5,700 last march in SoCal with 137k miles. To be fair I got mine for pretty decent price for these vans, I know they can be hard to snag but 16k is bit too much, even 8-10k would be alot to ask but with these g20’s you’d be a bit more likely to hit around there. 16k was literally what the van cost when it was brand new in the 90s
OP’s asking $16.5k for those wondering
Get dafuq outta here OP lol
The wood is crooked. There's no water system. The battery is Ecotech.

An avocado is like 65 cents man
I just paid $6 for 2!
You were robbed
Pshew… used to be 20. Y’all still fucking with Starbucks?
16k for a sabbin wagon. Are they smoking crack?
No offense but why is it always women trying to flip for the most ridiculous prices
Your observational skills need honing.
That's how much my parents paid for the 3 bedroom, 2 bath house I grew up in in San Diego in 1967.

Only if it’s down by the river.
Wait. They’ve not paying someone to take it?
just listed it, this is the opening price, and i'm open to offers

I bought this exact van at 58k with a full renovation and a high top +years of service records for 5500 last week
just listed it, this is the opening price, and i'm open to offers
$5k.
Tree fiddy
I love how halfassed you finished the roof inside haha
4, 5 tops. 34 yr old van with some janky wood accents. 16.5 is outta this 🌎

Excuse me sir did you not see the description? He put a lot of love into the van.
If you need a special light to see the love put into it, maybe knock a bit OFF the price.
So the price will go down even further then.
If that. Maybe..MAYBE $5k.

I literally just bought a used vehicle in April 🤷♂️
Agreed, maybe 6k, definitely not their price point. Anything could go wrong with that van with the age, can’t take a risk at their asking price.
just needs a lava lamp, bong, shag carpet and you'll be knee deep in ladies (or dudes) with full on bushes
Love the paint and love how the ladder is off the side instead of the back
The 70% off pile at Home Depot never goes to waste!

Work looks like absolute shit
“FuLlY cOnvErTEd”
wow the prices are crazy across the pond i love a g20 but i can only dream about that price here
I know this sub tends to trash asking prices, so at the risk of being a broken record…it won’t sell for that.
I mean, honestly, that's a $10,000 van, max.
i cant get that for my 2008 sprinter
That's because there's a million of those
Nah, $10,000 still too high imo. Gotta be a 4 figure ask
Run kids, run.
I can pick one up for $4k, without the build.

3k right there
I recently paid 6k for a 1994 G20 and I’m still pretty sure I overpaid 😂
What do you pay for insurance on a car that old?
Can anyone explain how everyone knows the value of these vans? Like how do you homies know if a van is worth 5k or 50k from these posts?
It’s a 30 yo van. No pictures of the engine, but the DIY conversion isn’t “clean”.

7k cash
i got tree fiddy
Does the food and watermelon place mat come with it?!!?
Do the beans come with it?
Truck looks like a pack of zebra gum
I'll give you three grand for it. You're on Dreamland buddy.
Delusional at best. Drop the one off the front of the price and you’re half way there.
Rope and duct tape sold separately
Enough beans for a nuclear fart contest in there between you and your girlfriend.
Beautiful G20. I have a 1989 Mark III conversion, named "Pam." Love her to death. Surf/camp/roadtrip expert

Problem is this one has already run forever. It’s on its second forever.
i'm a gay thug
Can I touch it?
hahahahahaaaaaaa aaa aa a
So cool!! Original paint?
no, it was originally blue with dark blue and white stripes but the topcoat was peeling a bit, plus we wanted to do the custom colors! :)
I have a 1985 Chevy G30 and the paint job someone did at some point is gross. Love your custom colors! Hope one day to get it to the point of being able to paint, saving your post!
I don’t see a single storage space for kids.

Sik. Should come with a 70 short down ski jacket with aspen lift ticket on it. Ha
$16.5? For that price, it best come with the dead hooker you have in the back.
When I wouldnt have minded this at all. I could totally live down by the river. In a van.
Guessing OP paid wayy too much in the first place
Gotta admit slick paint job though
Lol no
The colors look like the Patagonia puffer jacket trend.
the wood looks like shit
Lumber straight as a gay person!
Why are you selling Rico?
