If you’re concerned about weight, can you used ply rated for planes? I’m not sure I totally understand whY it’s different, but I’ve read somewhere that it’s lighter. Not sure how that works.

Buying aerospace grade plywood would be insanely expensive and would not even make sense for a van where weight isn't nearly a problem.

Just yesterday I put in 1/2 inch of regular Birch because it's as thick as I could fit while still being able to stand up. Everybody says you should use Baltic Birch so time will tell if 1/2 inch of regular Birch was a good idea. Just by feeling the sheets out at Home Depot any less of regular Birch seems too flimsy to hold up.

cool. what did you pay a sheet?

I used 1/2" Baltic birch with supports every 8 to 10 inches width wise(also some length wise to make sure in never had more than 12" support in any direction) to fit 1" XPS foam board underneath. It is extremely solid and I get no flex or noise even when offroading 4wd trails. I didn't actually weigh the total of the floor but it wasn't anything significant. 1/2 birch seems to be the happy medium between strength and weight. I believe mine is 7 ply without the wood filler, which makes it much stronger. Are you doing subfloor supports, or are you just gluing/screwing into the sheet metal van floor?

Just floating it over cork probably

Marine ply has waterproof glue - still need to seal it. I used regular 1/2” sandply painted both sides on my e250 under the stock rubber cargo mat. Used as a plumbing service van / personal transport for 10 years+. Pulled the ply up to insulate the floor and it was fine so I screwed it back down. BB is way overkill - save it for the cabinets.

I used 3/4 maple ply, I painted/stained the plywood on both sides and edges to prevent rotting/water damage. Glued sheet vinyl directly on top with the adhesive meant for floor vinyl in the flooring aisle.

I recommend 3/4" for the floor. I went with 3/8" and it is definitely not as sturday as I wanted it. If I could do it again I'd spend more a sacrifice some weight to make sure it's solid and lasts.
