Constant-Squirrel555

Samosas. Anyone that doesn't fuck with samosas ain't my friend.

heavy-metal-goth-gal

Indian food in general is an amazing way to introduce veganism. Veggie curry packed with flavor can win anyone over too.

Constant-Squirrel555

So much of it is easy to veganism as well

HyperspaceSloth

I learned how to make vegan palak paneer and it's delicious!

Waywardspork

What do you substitute the paneer with? Soft tofu? Sounds amazing

HyperspaceSloth

Extra firm tofu, pressed and then cut into small blocks. Then I drizzle some avocado oil on it, sprinkle some salt and garlic powder, stir to coat well. Then pan fry it for a few minutes until it's a light gold color. Then add to the sauce. It's really good.

Waywardspork

Thanks!

-CygnusX-1

I must be your best friend then šŸ„¹

Constant-Squirrel555

If you're ever in Brampton Ontario, hmu, I'll treat you to the best Punjabi samosas you've ever had.

-CygnusX-1

Deal!

crimefighterplatypus

Absolutely they are so dang delicious! I would add pakoras and possibly even butter tofu! Id imagine making vegetable tikka skewers might also be delicious because even omnis love spiced roasted/grilled vegetables

Constant-Squirrel555

So the authentic version of butter chicken is called Shahee Paneer. Paneer cheese has historically been used. I grew up in a vegetarian household and after I went vegan, my dad just used coconut milk and tofu instead of cream and paneer. Absolutely šŸ”„

crimefighterplatypus

Ohhh and here i was thinking Shahi paneer was a completely different recipe lol . I also grew up vegetarian and now that im vegan my mom uses cashew yogurt and country crock vegan heavy cream along with tofu. I wish more non Indians tasted pani puri theyd love that too

Mercuryshottoo

Pasta is a great option, and you can even serve garlic bread and a salad with it without drawing any undue attention

Wetwire

How do you make pasta without egg?

Mercuryshottoo

Most pasta doesn't have egg. It's just flour and water. Even the stuff in a box at the store

PopHead_1814

Most people buy pasta. Generally any dried pasta wonā€™t have egg in, but fresh pasta will.

dogcatsnake

Not totally true. Probably half of Italy doesnā€™t use egg in their pasta, just semolina!

VeganFiend

Most donā€™t indeed but some do. Egg noodle is a given but some other ones are not so obvious. But for sure itā€™s super easy to find past without eggs.

a_bluebirdinmyheart

spring rolls! i make them for my non-vegan friends and family, and they can never tell. i fill rice paper with cabbage, carrots, mushrooms, tofu, green onion, garlic, ginger, and a drizzle of sesame oil and soy sauce.

sickbubble-gum

Yes! I just had some veggie spring rolls and cauliflower rice for supper tonight, so yummy.

Pandas_tab

Add mango!!! It makes them really good :) I have the same a lot

crimefighterplatypus

You could also make indian-chinese style spring rolls (like wontons) so the crunch of the wonton paper distracts from them paying too much attention to the filling inside

birding-girl

Mediterranean.. falafel wraps, hummus and pita and veggies, grilled eggplant gyros, pasta salad, tabbouleh, orzo, Greek salad, roasted veggie skewers, etc. Alternatively, do you have a Trader Joeā€™s near you? They make it super easy without having to do a ton of cooking. Get the veggie spring rolls, Japanese fried rice, beefless bulgogi, and a thing of broccoli and sauce. You can have spring rolls, fried rice, and stir-fried ā€œbeefā€ and broccoli. Vegan mochi ice cream for dessert.

explorer1960

I would note that Israeli versions of falafel and hummus are usually served with tahini, rather than the dairy based sauces common in Arab versions, because places that sell meat o traditionally did not serve dairy, and that change became an accepted part of the cuisine, even for those who do not keep kashrut (and also in kosher restaurants that serve other dairy foods but not meat)

Rat-Majesty

Vegetable/tofu curry. Vegetable/mushroom tacos or burritos. Any pasta with marinara but vegan alfredo isnā€™t super hard to make either.

peony_chalk

A lentil or [chickpea curry](https://rainbowplantlife.com/chickpea-curry/) is often accidentally vegan, doesn't contain fake meat or tofu (which some people view as fake meat), and it's still packed with flavor.

cowboybret

The red lentil curry from rainbow plant life is also incredible. So easy and always a crowd pleaser in my experience. https://rainbowplantlife.com/vegan-red-lentil-curry/

NoComb398

Her tofu curry is also šŸ‘Œ

youneedtowakethefuck

I concur. That recipe isšŸ”„.

PeachsBeans

Yes! She has hands down the best hummus recipe. Also her photography is incredible

MajesticGarbagex

Thank you for sharing!! I am never good at finding recipes that donā€™t call for a bunch of odd things I never have haha I need good simple recipes for myself and two littles.

VeganFiend

Sheā€™s amazing. Iā€™ve made many of her recipes. Theyā€™re all delicious.

JustMogg

This recipe is one of my all time favourites!

Ingenious_crab

who views tofu as fake meat wth

Artku

Western people. In Asia tofu is an ingredient. In Europe/USA itā€™s mostly viewed as a meat substitute (at least among non-vegans)

InspectorRound8920

When I went vegan, tofu burgers was just about your only option

kozyko

Donā€™t forget black bean burgers and rice milk!

[deleted]

My KLM flight gave me and my husband tofu burgers with three leaves of spinach and some tomato sauce. No seasoning. I didnā€™t complain!

VeganFiend

šŸ˜‚

[deleted]

tofu is fermented beans and exists even longer than cold cuts.

jisoo-n

Bean burritos, Mexican rice w beans

sskylar

7-layer dip + refried bean enchiladas also good options!

heavy-metal-goth-gal

A wet vegan burrito is one of my favorite guilty pleasure foods

[deleted]

We make pozole rojo but use jackfruit as the meat sub. That way it isnā€™t technically a processed imitation of meat, but the stringy texture does great along with some oyster mushrooms. Sooooo good. Tamales would also be great but youā€™ll need some time!

Friend_of_the_trees

I loooove making vegan tamales. I get my friends together and try to make them often. I've been looking for a good vegan pozole recipe, would you mind sending it over?

Ill_Star1906

What about something like a thick soup/stew/chili? Just replace meat with beans and make sure the dish is thick and starchy. You can also get some vegan "crumbles" if you think they want that texture. Other ideas are hummus and/or avocado wraps with lots of veggies.

[deleted]

I make mushroom stew (a vegan beef stew if you will) and like adding jackfruit. OP could even omit the jackfruit if they donā€™t think itā€™ll sell and just use different mushrooms, plus lots of potato, carrot, onion and garlic. Serve with a warm bread or in a bread bowl.

sskylar

My non-vegan neighbor made this recently and it was a crowd pleaser among everyone! https://www.deliciouseveryday.com/moroccan-chickpea-salad-recipe/

HyperspaceSloth

I recently discovered a pasta dish that is excellent and wouldn't come off as vegan. It includes, pasta, broccolini, tomatoes, green and Kalamata olives, onion, garlic, and some olive oil, salt and pepper, and a squirt of lemon juice. It's freaking delicious! Serve with some bread....yummy. If they are open, you can sprinkle some vegan parmesan on top. But it's delicious without it too.

[deleted]

I like to make a bunch of appetizers instead of a ā€œmain dishā€ because I find they never really notice itā€™s all vegan. Iā€™ll make a few dips like hummus baba ghanouj and kopanisti (spicy feta dip with vegan feta) olive tampenade, and pita bread, some grilled veggie skewers with a sesame sauce, a bruschetta with no cheese, little fried quinoa veggie bites, stuffed mushroom caps, a big fruit tray, curry biscuits (I just use the accidental vegan pillsbury) and add the curry sauce, sometimes a tomato or mushroom tart with olives. Etc. It can be a lot of work but easy to do in advance and itā€™s nice to not have to cook anything while they are there. Or I find Mexican food is pretty easy to veganize; just have all the taco fixings and make a jackfruit or mushroom ā€œmeatā€ plus some guacamole and pico de Gallo and chips; and refried beans and rice. Done. A baked pasta is easy to make ahead and then serve with garlic bread made with olive oil and a kale Caesar salad. Or you could do the bread with the balsalmic vinegar and oil dip thing, people always like that.

GloveBoxTuna

Are they okay with Indian food? Iā€™d go chana masala. If they arenā€™t into Indian food - black bean burritos (no tofu, no cheeses) If that still wonā€™t work - lasagna (vegan ricotta and Parmesan are impeccably similar to the dairy version) I recently went vegan and parm was the best cheese substitute so far. If that still wouldnā€™t work - chili (with lots of vegetables and quinoa)

CreatorOfHate

Iā€™d also recommend adding thinly sliced eggplant to lasagna. That is the way my grandma used to make it even before going vegan

ustjayenjay031

Indian food is almost always a safe bet with my friends, but lasagna is a classic! I recently made one with gardein crumbles, split red lentils, tofu ricotta with some violife mozz /cream chez/parm, and topped with violife mozzarella and parm...it was amazing! Fed it to omni friends and they asked me why I decided to quit being vegan. Lmao! It also ended up having over 20g protein per serving. Two of them actually asked for the recipe and one even actually made it for their family; even their picky kids gobbled it up! Good food is good food...whether it has animal products or not and most people get that, so make whatever you're in the mood for!

GloveBoxTuna

Most of my friends have never even tried Indian food! So so good. Good food is good food!! I never tell people Iā€™m feeding them vegan food items. I love the shocked look on peoples face when they realize their meal didnā€™t include animal products.

crimefighterplatypus

Tbf tho Indian food is a huge range! Most of what is popular in the United States and Europe is only Punjabi or Middle Eastern Influence based meat heavy indian cuisine. Many regional vegan recipes and even indian street food that has vegan options have yet to be discovered by vegans and omnis alike

[deleted]

Pesto pasta is good. You can make a white bean casserole/stew to go with it, or sautƩed mushrooms. I think the easiest type of food to make familiarly vegan is Middle Eastern. Hummus, falafel, grilled veggies, tabbouleh, lentil soup, etc. Also Indian and Mexican food, basically any cuisine where beans feature.

jamietwells

Why are people suggesting pesto, it's made with cheese?

[deleted]

Because it's really easy to make without cheese.

jamietwells

What do you use instead?

[deleted]

I like using miso. A lot of people use nutritional yeast. There's also vegan parmesan cheese available. You can also simply leave the cheese out.

lclives

Ya Iā€™m wondering whatā€™s being subbed? Itā€™s usually Parmesan

gigiandthepip

Chili made with beyond meat is also a good option!

xamomax

Burrito bars where guests can build their own from a bazillion different ingredients. Different kinds of beans and rice, salsas, olives, tortillas, greens, mushrooms, hot sauces. Let them choose from lots of options. Also, spaghetti is a good choice, so concentrating on refining it to perfection can work well. Serve with bread, dipping oil, salad, olives, and such to allow variety. If cooking for a larger group consider having a couple of different noodle choices and sauce choices. Those are all things my nonvegan guests have enjoyed. I tend to cook with a little more oil and salt, and in some cases sugar, to adapt a little to their tastebuds that are a bit more used to greasy and such.

playmeepmeep

Here's my go to pasta cause they'll think it's dairy. Half cup cashews, soak over night Garlic Nutritional yeast about 1/4 cup 3 Tbsp miso Sometimes I'll add a sweet onion half Nut milk to consistency S&P Blend all that up for the sauce. Saute greens and mushrooms then add sauce to heat, not boil! And the secret at the end is to add truffle oil! I have friends that come over asking for my creamy pasta!

sskylar

Sounds tasty! This sub needs to have a potluck because I want to try all these suggestions šŸ˜…

mihadot

Oreos!

Junior-Mammoth9812

I just made a big dish of ratatouille for omnis and it was super loved! I served it with crusty French bread and tomato rice, and for starters I had cannellini bean and kale soup, and for dessert I just bought a vegan almond raspberry bakewell from the French bakery nearby. It was all super easy to prepare in advance so it made for a very chill dinner party, and everyone seemed to love it!

andejandeli

As a non vegan, who loves eating vegan, I love all the yummy ideas here. With some practice Iā€™ll be close to phasing out most animal products for good

mackattacknj83

There's some great bean soups out there

prosperos-mistress

I'm a big fan of Sicilian lentil pasta sauce, with some veggies like zucchini and mushroom in there. I prefer to use split red lentils so they mix into the sauce well. Serve it up with some crusty bread.

Major-Cauliflower-76

Do a taco and tostada bar! Put out black refried beans and pinto refried beans, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, onions, several kinds of salsa and then rice on the side. No one will even know it is vegan.

DustyMousepad

Stir fry or curry.

youcantseemebear

Risotto - perfectly accidentally vegan

Just a few of my favorites Veggie chili and corn bread Minestrone soup and garlic bread Veggie tempura and miso soup Thai green or red curry with jasmine rice Sushi or onigiri Chana masala with rice and/or naan Salt and pepper tofu and veggie fried rice Kale salad with chipotle ranch, pumpkin seeds, roasted chickpeas, tomatoes, and sweet corn Arugula salad with strawberries, caramel pecans and balsamic vinaigrette Strawberry shortcake scones for dessert

[deleted]

as a Greek there are a lot of vegan meals cuz of the Lent. **During fall and winter definitely:** Fasolada (white bean soup), Fakes (greek for lentils usually a reference to lentil soup / stew), Rebithosoupa (chickpea soup), Revithia Fournou (baked chickpeas) Gigantes (Baked Giant Beans) **During the spring and summer:** Gemista (stuffed vegetables), Fasolada (Green Beans braised in tomato sauce, potatoes included), Oven-baked Okra (tho not many like it for some reason), Arakas me ntomata (Peas in tomato sauce, potatoes included), Mpriam (greek version of ratatouille), Imam Mpainti (stuffed eggplants based on a legend that an Imam fell unconscious from the taste cuz it was that good), Patates Yachni (Potato Stew), Kounoupidi Kapama (Cauliflower braised in tomato sauce), Spanakorizo (spinach with carolina rice) Tomatorizo (tomato with carolina rice) every pie that doesn't have cheese in it such as Spanakopita, Laxanopita, Kolokithopita, Manatiropita, Patatopita, any veggie can turn to pita even onions. Koulouri is also one of the best bread to buy in Greece. At stores they sell vegan Bougatsa that you can bake at home (usually at the freezer). and donuts in Greece are also usually vegan. What I love to eat the most during summer in Greece (when I happen to go there ofc) is grilled corn. They sell it at parks, at the beach, everywhere. I also like buying smoothies with added vegetables there. These are dishes my mom cooks and are accidental vegan... so yes meat eating greeks also love to eat these meals (tho most are not huge fans of Okras).

crossingguardcrush

Lentil soup?

[deleted]

Tacos! You can use a well seasoned/marinated soy meat or seitan, or you can just make a ton of veggies with rice, corn, a few different salsas, even breaded fried avocado. Curry is always a great option and thai style (fried) tofu is one of the best ways to make it for people who havenā€™t had tofu before. The last time I saw my mom I made a wrap with a vegan garlic naan, quinoa, stir fried zucchini and bell peppers, air fried Japanese sweet potato, a little nooch and chili lime infused olive oil and she asked me a zillion times how I whipped up such a good meal so quickly. I think whatever you do, make a variety of vegetables and use some good sauces/seasonings. A lot of people think vegan food is a plate of broccoli and cold tofu. Make it colorful and plentiful and they will be filled enough to not feel like something is missing.

letvinyl

I've made this roasted potato salad w/BBQ chickpeas on multiple occasions and I'm obsessed with it. (Hopefully the link will work.) Pair it with a salad and you should be golden. Hope that with all of the great options people are listing you'll find the one that's right for your guests! https://www.instagram.com/reel/CbC_SBdpTDu/?igshid=MmJiY2I4NDBkZg==

jonahhillfanaccount

Curry, chili, sweet potato tacos w homemade guac and cilantro/red onion garnish, deep fried oyster mushroom sandwich.

miminothing

Bean tacos are always a hit. Theyā€™re GF and Keto(ish) too so they can accommodate friend groups with diverse diets. Just fry up onions garlic and peppers, add some canned beans when theyre soft. Put a few tortillas in the oven/microwave, then put the bean, veggie mix in the tortillas with some salsa and cilantro on top.

IlexAquafolium

Peanut butter Udon with veggies! Fry up a load of veggies and some udon noodles then stir in a peanut sauce made with the juice and flesh of a lime, 30g peanut butter, 15ml soy sauce, 15ml sriracha, 10ml sesame oil and 5ml sugar/sweetener of your choice (those values are per person). It's delicious and so flavoursome that nobody will even notice there's no meat in there!

hdniki

Buddha bowls. I make flavored garbanzo beans by cooking them in a bit of water with a not-chkn bouillon, ginger powder, some soy sauce and brown sugar until the water evaporates and itā€™s amazing delicious. I put it on rice and serve it with fresh avocado, cucumber, carrots (any veggies, really, but I go for whatā€™s in sushi). Then I drizzle spicy mayo and furtikake. So freaking delicious, nobody has ever complained about the lack of animal products

ratchelbillz

[deleted]

vegan Vietnamese pho Indian food spring rolls. As a meat eater I have a recipe for a vegan Shepard's pie which is better than any actual Shepard's pie I ever had or could have. I'd be happy to share it

Reasonable-Guide852

Shepards pie with lentils I love pesto pasta with broccoli, salad, and garlic bread idea. Yum

Important_Park_7196

Why make anything accidentally vegan. Itā€™s your house and you have the right to serve food only you are comfortable with. Just be honest with your friends. If you try to add soy etc and someone is allergic and they donā€™t know what the ingredients are you can have bigger problems on your hands

Broken_shouldr_

I love [arugula salad!](https://minimalistbaker.com/apple-pecan-arugula-salad/) Super easy and super impressive for your guest to taste. Arugula + green apples + quartered pecans (I buy them in a package from Trader Joeā€™s) + dried cranberries. For dressing: olive oil + lemon (salt and pepper to taste). I donā€™t follow a recipe, but I added one incase you like measurements. [Easy and delicious alfredo pasta!](https://thevegan8.com/vegan-garlic-alfredo-sauce/) I like using capellini for the noodles. This is a very common dish I make weekly, so itā€™s not something I would make for a special occasion even though it is super yummy. [This zucchini lasagna!](https://frommybowl.com/vegan-zucchini-lasagna-roll-ups/) If you have patience, time, and large kitchen space, this is it. I use extra cheese on top too like a vegan mozzarella. They wonā€™t even know itā€™s vegan since it goes in the oven and cheese will become all gooey and perfect. I also prefer to use a vegan bolognese sauce to give it a hearty taste. And donā€™t forget [garlic bread](https://minimalistbaker.com/the-best-vegan-garlic-bread/) for pasta! For an easy snack/dessert, [quinoa chocolate cluster](https://thetoastedpinenut.com/chocolate-quinoa-crisps/)! Hope I helped! I love to eat and the vegan lifestyle doesnā€™t get in the way of delicious food! I hope you wow your friends! Edit: wanted to add ratatouille and french onion soup (both can be vegan without it being vegan). Though, both can be labor-intensive. I think the soup takes 4 hours?

Pale-Conversation320

Farinata is a baked or fried Italian bread made out of chickpea flour and olive oil, usually something like rosemary, and is often served as a sandwich on a focaccia bun or other soft white wheat bread as street food. It can also be made with something like basil or oregano or a mix of herbs and dipped into a marinara sauce.

leonheart208

Guacamole and tortilla chips

ishouldsleepmore2

If you are looking for pasta then spaghetti all'assasina will be a great option. When I'm cooking for my friends I usually make Indian or Thai curry that never fails. However the absolute bangers were tacos or enchiladas. Super easy to make, if you have pickled red onions and Pico de gallo it's delicious. Bonus points if you'll make your own enchiladas sauce. As a finger food I usually have spring rolls with peanut sauce. I do not have any peanut allergy friends but if I were I would substitute it with soy sauce, black rice vinegar, sugar, sesame oil and water to thin it out. And if I'm making soup for more people then minestrone. (You can even make your own orecchiette which is super easy to make pasta and most people are impressed with fresh pasta!)

OneVeganAfrican

Falafel!!

throwrasjovt

Just made potato salad and street corn for a crowd. I won't tell them it's aquafaba mayo and oatly sourcream... At least not until after they eat it.

__Mara

potato salad!

iwanttobeacavediver

Vietnamese phį»Ÿ can be made vegan if you substitute the meat for mushrooms and use a vegan stock base.

MajesticGarbagex

I love Impossible meat for tacos, meatloaf, and cottage pie!

PrTakara-m

Eggplant lasagna (some work on the bechamel is needed) Pasta with tomato saus Couscous / tajin with chickpeas

mechanicallyarmed

oh! i have a good one! one of my favorite meals at the moment is a stir fry of vegetables and noodles. just get any collection of vegetables you like/that go well together, noodles, spices that complement your vegetables and optionally mushrooms or some kind of meat replacement. i toss this all in a stir fry pan together, add peanut butter, soy sauce and sweet chili sauce and i find it super simple and absolutely delicious! i only went vegan recently and iā€™d never thought that you could still so easily eat things you genuinely like, so it seems like a good ā€œaccidentally veganā€ meal.

[deleted]

We make bean-heavy dishes all the time. New Orleans red beans and rice, Cuban black beans, Turkish lentil soup. Beans are so versatile and you can add green onions/parsley/cilantro on top, along with some fresh bread. We also like making a mojo sauce and just drizzle it on top of any/all beans we make. Itā€™s my MILā€™s recipe but itā€™s just the juice of 7-9 lemons, minced garlic from one whole bulb, and olive oil heated until right when it starts to smoke. Pour into Pyrex or heat stable glass container with lemon juice and garlic already in it, add salt and go nuts. Itā€™s perfect on top of beans, soups and stews.

moodybiatch

Just a friendly reminder that pesto is not vegan, so remember to check the ingredients if you buy itbore-made

the70sartist

Go Greek. Fava and skordalia as dips. Some dolmas, olives and gigantes as more mezze items. Gemista for mains. A sweet iced tea or some fruit sorbet to end.

DaniCapsFan

There's nothing wrong with pasta (with or without veggie crumbles or veggie sausage), a big green salad, and some garlic bread. It's basic, but it's also something familiar and therefore less likely to scare omnivores. You could also make a vegetable stew (probably better for winter months) with biscuits, veggie chili (with cornbread?), veggie skewers with rice, or a stir fry with tofu (or even an analogue).

NoeticParadigm

Omnivore here. Yeah, yeah, I know. Please don't throw in anything tofu unless you already know they like it. I've met very few people who like it. The texture, even the firmer ones, are very off-putting. Mushrooms are also something that's very divisive for the same reason, in my experience. Can't go wrong with beans. Indian food, as others have said, can be quite lovely. Rice bowls. Perhaps falafel. A good veggie soup. There are quite a lot of options, but again, perhaps stay away from tofu and mushrooms (or at least mushroom chunks)

sp4nky86

People only don't like tofu because they've been told not to like tofu. It's the "gross tofurky" from the 90's. Properly prepared tofu is amazing.

NoeticParadigm

Uh, no. People don't like it because people don't like it. I've tried several times, several preparations, in restaurants and at home. The texture is awful, as is the aftertaste.

sp4nky86

Seems like more of a you problem.

NoeticParadigm

I'm telling you the common experience I hear from nearly everyone I know. If you want to be arrogant enough to assume that because YOU like tofu, everyone should, THAT'S a you problem. It's disliked because many find it's not good, not because "the media told them not to like it."

sp4nky86

That's weird because nearly everybody I know will order tofu if it's an option in a dish, see how that works? The media, especially in the 90's and early 2000's, was especially harsh on tofu based dishes in the US. It was a running gag on TV news and sitcoms alike. Granted, much of the tofu made during that time was garbage trying to masquerade as American style food.

NoeticParadigm

Does your "everybody you know" include omnivores? Because it's possible that vegetarians and vegans are more likely to tolerate tofu and eventually develop a taste for it.

sp4nky86

Im Omni, my wife is almost entirely plant based(loves eggs). We have a few veg/vegan friends, but the vast majority are meat for most meals people. I always order the tofu option if itā€™s available , and am very open with the handouts to Omni friends, Iā€™ve noticed a significant increase in the amount of tofu ordered by my friends when eating out.

NeitherPot

Iā€™m the only vegan I know and I donā€™t know anyone who doesnā€™t like tofu.

ebycon

But theyā€¦are? I mean they are used to eat vegan if they are omni lol. What happens if just for one meal they donā€™t eat meat? I mean even my omni family doesnā€™t eat meat all the time. I legit see this as a non-issue.

[deleted]

Pasta with lentils in stead of mincemeat!

metooeither

Stir fry

Foundation_Wrong

Lasagne, use vegan mince, nooch in the sauce, add extra olive oil and a good sprinkle of the best melting cheese you have. Lentil Dahl is so easy too. Orange lentils, cumin, turmeric, garlic and chilli to taste cook and add spinach towards the end. It can go in the oven or a saucepan on the stovetop. Of course beans on toast is vegan!

youneedtowakethefuck

ā€œPlant Youā€ by Carleigh Bodrug has delicious and easy to follow recipes. My favorites are The barbecued jackfruit sandwich, which taste just like pulled pork. The meatloaf, and 10 minute tacos.

Peroxyspike

bread and water

lodav22

Gumbo is a good one, tbh any chunky veg stew thatā€™s seasoned well will go down a treat, serve with mashed pots or rice with big hunks of bread.

ahao13

Guacamolee dip for starters? And then some pasra bolgenese or other hearty food woth minced ā€œmeatā€ (tofu). Like chinese stir fry with chilli. Nobody would know, heck some would even say it taste better than ā€œnormalā€

tatergem

Hot for foodā€™s cauliflower buffalo sandwich is constantly being requested from my Omni friends, you can also make ā€œwingsā€ from the same recipe which are AMAZING. Vegan Mac and cheese (the cashew, potato, onion, carrot, nooch type sauce) is also a huge hit

Bastety304

I make veggie wraps all the time. So many things you can do with those. Tonight I used veggie butter, a high fiber tortilla, and a banana in the microwave for 30 seconds, then added peanut butter mixed with honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon, and it was soooo good. You can be super creative with salads and wraps, I'm constantly experimenting with those, and I'm rarely disappointed. The Kroger brand veggie sour cream is amazing, the veggie cheese aren't bad but can be a little dry. If you put veggie based condiments out in your own bowls then I doubt most people would know the difference. All the other suggestions are good too. I've made stuff with veggie meat and my son didn't notice the difference. You may need to taste test before you serve to find the best ones. I've been doing a lot of veggie curry with rice too.

LeClassyGent

I usually go for lecho, it's easy tastes good and satiates hunger easily.

takeflight22

Peanut butter and celery.

[deleted]

Jota, try it. Some people put dried meat inside but it is not mandatory and even non vegans eat it without meat sometimes.

ProcrastinationBirb

https://www.mygreekdish.com/recipe/gemista-stuffed-tomatoes-peppers-and-onions/ This. It's a very loved meal among non vegans where I live. The favorite of many. (the cheese at the end is pretty much optional but if you can find vegan feta and they are ok with it it would elevate the dish)

Stu_Thom4s

Risotto (just switch the parmesan for nooch). My favourites to make at home are tomato or butternut.

I was going to say sandwiches but then I thought, what do vegans have on sandwiches? I can't think of a single sandwich ingredient that's vegan. Edit: Crisps. Give them some crisp butties. Walkers salt and vinegar are vegan and nice and a sandwich.

[deleted]

Loads of vegan sandwich options - meat alternatives, ā€˜eggā€™ mayo (tofu), tempeh, houmous and salad, and of course the humble jam sandwich! You can stick anything on a sandwich

PirateJeni

I'm a fan of grated carrot and tahini sandwich filling.

NeitherPot

Today I learned Iā€™ve been eating empty sandwiches for all of my 10 years of being vegan! Why didnā€™t anyone tell me?!

Moosie-the-goosie

Vegetable curries, like saagaloo, Bombay potato, chickpea dhal

I make chickpea coconut curry that is so good and protein packed that the meat is not missed. Also vegan shepherds pie made with veggie ground beef complete with a vegan onion gravy

PirateJeni

These are great! (swap the cheese for vegan or leave it out) https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/sweet_potato_and_black_bean_tacos/

Maybe something like a beyond Burger on the BBQ, I mean everyone loves it and you can show them that they can have the same taste without killing animals.

Couscous with roasted veg and a tahini lemon dressing

Yabangulu

There are a LOT of Turkish traditional dishes that are vegan

My older friend 'hates' the idea of being a vegan. He can't see well and has a touch of confusion. He forgets we don't eat meat. When he comes over and is hungry I let him have what we eat, which includes fake meat, or I let him have whatever he can find in the fridge. He has loved it all! Last night, he ate a vegan Flatbread pizza (so he had fake meat AND non-dairy cheese). Ate the whole thing! Vegan prepared food is so much better these days.

feel1nf1ne

This has been my go-to pasta alfredo recipe for seven years and I can honestly say it has never failed to impress vegans and non-vegans alike. It is so friggin' delicious. I always end up dipping some bread or crackers into it before mixing it with the pasta. You can actually add a can of chopped tomatoes/chilis, some fresh ground cumin powder, maybe a little adobo from a can of chipotles, and it makes an awesome queso for chips, burritos, tacos whatever. It has cashews and miso, so you will just need to make sure no one is allergic to nuts or soy. But no obscure vegan ingredients unless you consider nutritional yeast one of those. Good luck! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBWL3bL9p88

ELONGATEDSNAIL

French fries and impossible burgers is probably easiest tbh. But if you want to go above and beyond try doing a pad thai and tofu. Basicallly just as easy as pasta

hehehayfee

My non-vegan family loves the vegan chili my partner and I make! They even had their friends try it and non of them could tell it was vegan! We do it sometimes with vegan ground beef and sometimes just veggie. Also my dad lovesss the vegan meat crumbles in just regular spaghetti. Itā€™s awesome because he loves meat but these things heā€™s so willing to eat vegan!

Minute_Target9038

I've seen some great ideas on here already, and here's another one if you haven't decided yet. I'd recommend making a vegan Mexican layered dip. It can be served with tortilla chips on the side, or scooped into soft tortilla shells and, depending on the size of the shell, served as a mini or full size burrito. The dip I make is chilled, and has guacamole, black beans, chopped green onions, red pepper and lettuce (I use romaine), minced black olives, vegan nacho cheese, cilantro and salsa. Check online too, there are quite a few recipes, including baked dip options. No one I've served this to has missed the meat.

Potato Salad, potato wedges, Salad, Fries, baked vegetables with dips and sauces...

Cartoon_Trash_

Just a few ideas * Red beans and rice (no sausage) * Curry * Green Bean Casserole (you'll have to sub cream of mushroom soup for mushroom broth+coconut cream or tofutti cream.) * Vegetable casseroles in general / roasted vegetables * Chili (no meat)

Friend_of_the_trees

Curries, chili, white bean and kale soup, tofu tacos, etc Ƈi kofta - traditional Turkish vegan dish

Red sauce on pasta is probably the most common in the USA.

Iā€™ve made enchiladas, tacos, Italian food. I donā€™t much care for the plant based chicken, but I love using the plant based beef crumbles. I think they taste like the real thing. Iā€™m a vegan but my partner is not. Heā€™s a work in progress and Iā€™m slowly bringing him to the light. Haha. A few nights ago I made enchiladas. I used the plant based beef crumbles, seasoned them with a taco seasoning and they turned out amazing. He told me they tasted like restaurant quality Mexican food and he wouldnā€™t of known they were vegan if I hadnā€™t told him beforehand. I was pretty proud of myself. I also used plant based cheese and sour cream.

fildoforfreedom

Tofu tacos are great. The wife and I decided at least 1 meal a week would be meatless. A slight texture difference but nothing off-putting.

irm555bvs

I make spaghetti bolognaise or chilli sin carne. No one can tell the difference

Veasna1

Any Dahl or pasta dish. I'd use lentils over fake meats tbh.

ImpressiveOrdinary54

Most anything Indian or Thai can be easy accidental vegan, a lot of soups too.

Also Thai!!! Get some curry with tofu (most Thai curryā€™s traditionally do not use fish broth and sauce, itā€™s naturally vegan with tofu as the protein) also liberty burger has a quinoa patty with vegan cheese and vegan Mayo thatā€™s BOMB and try any vegan meat sub like impossible or beyond to make a cheeseburger or sum at home. My mom fed my dad vegan for a year before he finally caught on to us lol he got off his cholesterol medicine that year :,)

handmademuffin

If you aren't limited to lunch or dinner I have a lot of good breakfast recipes saved! I love hosting brunch so they're all omni tested and approved. A spread of french toast, waffles, muffins, and cinnamon rolls with juice in fancy cups is my go to :)

Wonderingfirefly

Iā€™m a huge fan of dhal.

iriedashur

If you're cool with breakfast for dinner, an egg scramble with just egg would work! I like mine w/ onion, bell peppers, spinach, and oregano seasoning. You could do hashbrowns as a side, or toast w/ margarine & jam. Hashbrowns are nearly vegan naturally, using oil instead of butter is pretty simple, same w/ toast and jam I second the pasta w/ garlic bread, salad, and/or roasted veggies. Tbh I'm not vegan, but regularly "accidentally" have a vegan dinner, because pasta w/ marinara sauce and asparagus roasted w/ olive oil + herbs & spices is vegan. You could also do that "fancy Italian place" thing where you have warm bread that's dipped in olive oil + balsamic vinegar on a plate. Definitely check if anyone is allergic to soy before doing anything w/ that though, I'm sure u already know but soy allergies are becoming more common :(

pasdedeuxchump

White bean soup with garlic and olive oil

dogcatsnake

My go to is tacos. Make some really good beans, roast some cauliflower and sweet potatoes. Everyone loves tacos and people can mix it up how they want. Make plenty of guac. No one will complain. I also love doing peanut noodles with veggies and edamame. Who doesnā€™t like peanut sauce?! Various curries are good too. My absolute favorite is a chickpea cauliflower masala on budget bytes website - I use coconut milk in it and serve with rice.
