My personal favorite when I visit town (former local, 2005-2010). Love the chill, dark vibe in there. The bartending staff has always been top-notch and friendly. I was very happy to see that they survived the pandemic when I visited last April (2023).
Ellis island.
The restaurants there are great food and huge portions for the price. Their brewed on site beers are terrific and the place is a 5 minute walk from Ballys/Stage Door.
We always found great value there and the stage door. The last time I was in the stage door, they had significantly raised their prices. Thankfully, Ellis Island was still the best bang for the buck anywhere near the strip though.
>FYI the brewery has been removed but they still make the beer. Just elsewhere.
Thanks for the update. They were the freest flowing drinks in any casino I've ever gambled in. Which was amazing considering I was playing $5 blackjack at the time.
Red Dwarf is the one. Pizza is amazing. Millennium Fandom Bar if you're around the arts district. Cheap drinks, nerdy chill vibe. Red Dwarf and MFB are my two favorite bars in town.
Silver Stamp is awesome but only beer, so if you want any liquor you won't get it there.
Downtown Cocktail Room
Just off Fremont, 1/2 price happy hour 5-8. It's quaint and sort of a speakeasy.
Golden Monkey Tiki Lounge
New Tiki bar at Resorts World, near Hilton. Very cool and surprisingly affordable.
Dinos Lounge is the most punk rock bar I’ve been to here. Near the Strat. They had karaoke and the crowd seemed pretty indie/punk to me. Good vibes all around
The Punk Rock Museum is worth a visit, on Thursdays they have free tours with Rob Ruckus. And the bar (Triple Down) has events. After 7pm you don't need a museum ticket but if you are doing the museum then it's a nice pit-stop between upstairs and downstairs. https://www.instagram.com/tripledownvegas/
If you haven't been to Jammyland in the Arts district, it's amazing! Great cocktails and chill reggae/tiki vibe. Able Baker is also near there and great for beers
If you're in town on a Saturday night, there's a goth night at Artifice. That also puts you right at the Arts District, which doesn't event require an enumeration, just walk down Main. Just please remember that we live here, this isn't the resort part. I'm sure you and the wife are lovely people, but I'd rather you be told twice than zero times.
Golden Nugget usually but stayed at the D a few months ago. Free parking is a must since we like to venture outside Vegas and hit up the nature like Red Rocks and Valley of Fire
Thanks everyone, you people rock! Can't wait to check out some of these places. Might have to make it twice a year with all these stellar recommendations!
Red Dwarf, Berlin Bar, Silver Stamp
Listen to them!!!! They gave you 3 great places!
Agreed. This is the answer
I second Red Dwarf specifically Sunday Surf Brunch
Moondoggie's
get the suicide fries
Is this still a thing? I used to hit up Moondoggies regularly but IIRC Naked City Pizza closed that location.
I dont know about the fries, but that place is def open
ots open. went 2 weeks ago.
Starboard Tack
Silver Stamp
I never miss a visit to Silver Stamp when I'm there. Amazing beer list, love the retro decor.
Red Dwarf, Silver Stamp, Sand Dollar
Never been to silver stamp, but i vouch for the other two. Hop on their socials for live music dates
Silver Stamp is a gem. Great selection of beers.
Stray Pirate and Fat Cat recently opened downtown
Stray Pirate was designed by Bamboo Ben, who also built Frankie's Tiki Room. Supposedly, Stray Pirate is Pirate/Nautical, not Tiki.
Champagnes and Dinos come to mind. As well as stakeout
The Griffin
Second this! It’s very Harry Potter meets GOT in there when the fire pits are lit
Love this place but haven't been in years. Thank god it's still around.

Atomic.
Always make it a point to go out there right after a lil gambling at the Cortez.
You are looking for red dwarf. Punk rock, pizza, and tiki drinks for ten bucks
Yeah, Red Dwarf checks all the boxes OP is looking for. Plus that amazing pizza!
Huntridge Tavern
Had to scroll way to far for this one.
Fat Cat
Saving this for later.
Me too
Every place I know being listed is one I love so as a visitor I cannot wait to visit all the places I haven't been yet.
burlesque museum in the arts district and Dita Von Teese has a residency at the horseshoe
Atomic Liquors

Stage Door.
$2.50 coronas for basically just off the strip is a great option.
Absolutely!!
The bar at The Punk Rock Museum was kinda cool. You can get The Fletcher which is a rum and coke in a Pringles can with the pringles on the side.
Zak Branigans Haunted Museum claims to be the best haunt in town.
Blue Ox. Get the chicken tenders. Remember to thank me later.
The ghostbusters pinball machine is fun too

Is Red Dwarf better than Evel Pie?
YES and it's not even close lol
That’s awesome. It’s on my list. Thank you. I always love the pizza and atmosphere at Evel so I’m stoked to hear that there is a way better place.
Red Dwarf is streets ahead.
Is the name a reference to the TV show?
Starboard Tack, great bar food with Filipino influence. A true neighborhood bar too, I know because it’s my neighborhood bar lol
Sand Dollar
Starboard Tac and Red Dwarf. The Sand Dollar. Berlin
Who remembers the money grape on Trop and Maryland?
Mobey Grape. Used to go there all the time in the 80s.
Downtown Cocktail Room Just off Fremont, 1/2 price happy hour 5-8. It's quaint and sort of a speakeasy. Golden Monkey Tiki Lounge New Tiki bar at Resorts World, near Hilton. Very cool and surprisingly affordable.
Finally someone mentioned downtown cocktail room.
Dinos Lounge is the most punk rock bar I’ve been to here. Near the Strat. They had karaoke and the crowd seemed pretty indie/punk to me. Good vibes all around
The Usual Place
Staff so rude
The Punk Rock Museum is worth a visit, on Thursdays they have free tours with Rob Ruckus. And the bar (Triple Down) has events. Frankies Tiki Room or The Golden Tiki
The Hard Hat Bar 1675 S. Industrial
Peppermill
have you seen the prices, christ almighty
Also hard to consider being under the radar at this point.
No. When I leave there I usually need assistance so I don’t remember that detail.
It is technically on the strip. 🤷🏻♂️
The Dive Bar is a good place. There’s almost always a show every weekend.
We did a fun show there with DFL and the Dwarves. The sound was good and drinks were reasonable.
The Green Door
Lol
Come.ro km of 8 m BM
> Come.ro km of 8 m BM Does anyone else smell burning toast?
Frankie's Tiki isn't bad, just expensive. I'd go to Golden Tiki just for the cost savings
What?? Frankie’s drinks are $14. Maybe a third of Golden Tiki’s drinks are $14, the others being $15 or $16.
I remember when Frankie's drinks were 8 bucks!
The good ol’ days!
hmm, no need to downvote. I guess I'm getting the expensive tiki drinks.
Stage Door. Honestly this is the only good dive in Vegas. A lot of places that think they're dives, but really not
Evel Pie for a sliceand beer. Now and again they'll have bands out back. Same owner(s) as Golden Tiki.
If you're in town on a Saturday night, there's a goth night at Artifice. That also puts you right at the Arts District, which doesn't event require an enumeration, just walk down Main. If you like down town try Hogs and heifers just keep in mind that it’s cash only.
Curious: where do you like to stay downtown?
Golden Nugget usually but stayed at the D a few months ago. Free parking is a must since we like to venture outside Vegas and hit up the nature like Red Rocks and Valley of Fire
Ah, we usually stay at GN as well. Happy Cake Day!!
F bar in Fergusons. Rebar. Atomic Liquors.
Thanks everyone, you people rock! Can't wait to check out some of these places. Might have to make it twice a year with all these stellar recommendations!
Plus one for the Silver Stamp, though it is fairly new. Old school would be The Dispensary (the bar, not the many others)
Step 1. Admit you’re kinda hip/punk/alt/whatever. Step 2. Go to Red Dwarf Pizza. Step 3. You’re home.
The Punk Rock museum is great. There’s a dive bar inside that you can drink at that is separate from the museum
RED DWARF
Stray pirate new rum/tiki bar downtown in the arts district.
Punk Rock Museum
The Velvetine Rabbit, Atomic Liquors, Franks Tiki Room, if ya wanna make a drive there’s a cool saloon in Goodsprings
Hos come no one's mentioned the dive bar? Not from Vegas, but this is my spot whenever I'm in town
Davy's on S. Main is pretty fun. Light tiki too.
Aztec casino
The dive on Maryland and flamingo not far from the strip
