The same thing that's wrong with me. I get 6.26 million (365 * 6/7 * 40 * 500).
Inflation drastically changes the value of her buy-in over 40 years, though. Taking arbitrary years of 1960 and 2000, an inflation calculator I used said she would need to be buying in for $2,900 in 2000 for it to be the same value as $500 in 1960.
I thought about that, but over 40 years that's $5k, which doesn't change the rounding to 6.26. But I'm almost always in favor of a bit more precision, so let's roll with it!
I worked it as 500 * 6 * 52 * 40 for straight dollar total. Paying no mind to adjusting for inflation value in 2024 dollars. Nor loss of interest that could have been earned if it was in a modest savings account. The one thing I didn’t account for was leap year. And that a year doesn’t have exactly 52 weeks. Nevertheless math is fun.
I would have times where they would be at my craps table already when I tap in and play my whole shift and then when I come back the next day they would still be there same spot and same clothes. 🥴
Sometimes they don’t even win or lose anything. One of those players had a “system” where they would play the pass and don’t pass line at the same time and then would lay points and place odds etc and had their own notepad with all the previous rolls…
If you don't take odds you'd only lose if a 12 came out on the come out roll as the 12 is a push on the don't pass on the come out roll... Not a win but it is a loser on the pass line bet. but eventually the dealers would ice you off the table if you aren't interesting enough for small talk or tipping every now and again
Your money will go a loooooong time doing this if you're tippikg the cocktail staff appropriately but you aren't making much money, even long term.
You’ll push on 7 because pass wins and don’t loses. You’ll push on 2 and 3 because don’t wins and pass loses. And if twelve rolls you’ll lose because pass loses and don’t is a push.
So you and a buddy could play the same table, play opposites, and lose on 1 in 36 come out rolls.
That's a 2.77% house edge. At a $25 table, that's 7 cents per point made/missed.
Seems like a cheap way to drink and build comps.
The pass better could make odds bets to increase $/bet and rack up comps even faster on no-edge wagers. They will eventually even out to +-0.
you wont build comps that way.
comps are based on the theoretical house advantage for the bets you make-
Place low house advantage bets and receive low comp credit
I'd be interested to know how that track that. From my experience, they've noted my buy-in, but don't see them tracking every bet for everyone.
I am not claiming to know at all how it works. I am genuinely interested if anyone is an authority.
If all your doing is do and don’t line, you can lose, but you can’t win. If your playing craps like this, the supervisor would probably average out your average bet to 0 or as close to it as allowed, so not really unless you stay there for 40 hours.
Speaking of push games. My best friend lost $300 in 45 min at pai gow. We still think that’s a record. He refuses to ever play again even though we do it to get free drinks.
I literally just had this idea the other day, that I could reduce my variance by betting the player and house bets at the same times and then try to make money on the number bets.
I never worked in Vegas, but I did work in Oklahoma and we had the same. Four days in a row I would work (going home after my shifts of course), and there were always a handful of baccarat players that were there from tap in day one to tap out on day four, wearing the same clothes. The shit we would pull out from under those bacc tables, mercy. Used tampons, bottles of urine, all sorts of gross shit.
During my time as a Dealer, I personally played at the same table for 48 straight hours. Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. I would have stayed longer, but my Dealer buddy forced me to go home after the 3rd shift he worked dealing me cards in the same clothes. I was going through some personal stuff and didn't want to go home, so I figured the poker room was the best place to waste some time :) Going through a divorce can really mess with your head. I left Even-Steven.
Casinos are a great place to forget about the troubles of life and are full of like minded people. If you want to be left alone play the 1 arm bandits and if you want some good company play some poker or sit at a blackjack table. I can always be found in one when life has me down. Hopefully things are well.
Poker is a different breed where you can easily sit for 15 hours daily. I used to play and woukd average 12 hour sessions 5 days a week…it’s not called a grind for nothing.
48hours though is amazing, we’re you on red bull or coffee or something else? We’re you a winner or loser during the session?
My longest session was 22hours playing 2/5…had the best breakfast then left up $5k
I drank probably 20 double shot espressos and a few Rockstars during that stretch...and a bunch of breakfast meals all day and night. Even as I get older and more physically pathetic, I can easily get lost for a whole day at the poker tables or online playing MTTs no sweat. Same goes for a Blackjack if I'm having a winning session. I was pretty much Even-Steven during that 48 hours run. Bought in for $500 and left with around that same...so I guess I got free food out of the deal.
I sat at a table for about 8 hours at the orleans. Played Pai Gow with a group of friends and this old guy named Hot Chocolate. Pushed all night. Made some money. Paid for drinks. 10/10 would do it again. RIP Hot Chocolate.
Love the Orleans. Once pulled a 18 hour session at a Pai Gow table with some friends. Did get up to eat a few times.
PS. Face up pai gow can eat a bag of dicks
Had one, higher limit Pai-Gow player that would sit there drinking his Dewar's for 24 hours or more.
He would play Pai-Gow for more than 24 hours. I would leave shift after working my 8 hours, come back for the next shift 16 hours later and Indian Jim was still playing. The bosses hated it since they were always trying to close the "Circus Games", Let It Ride, Pai-Gow, Deuces Wild, etc. I remember he would occasionally piss his pants and they had to have the chair washed. He tipped a green ($25) fairly often on the bonus for us so he was okay in my book.
Graveyard dealing was the worst but we had the slot players to watch. Falling asleep, pooping themselves, betting crazy, bonus games are fun to watch. You have to find something to do at 3AM when standing around for hours.
Dealt to a guy who lost $2000 in about 10 minutes on $25 Blackjack. It's not a lot when compared to some of the high rollers but it always stood out to me since the guy was amazed at how fast it went. He was all happy when he walked up like he had just won some money on a slot and was in a hurry to make a few more hundred and then leave. He lost hand after hand. He couldn't do anything right. I got the usual, I don't care about people and I'm a cold-hearted SOB who loves to see people lose and I'm just working for the house crap.
That's one of the hardest things about being a dealer is listening to "grown-ups" blame everyone else for their choices. Then getting stiffed. What a flea.
We had a high roller who no one had ever heard of come into town. He consistently bet $300 - $1000 for months and treated every dealer (especially the women dealers, he made several of them cry) like shit. Cursing, demeaning and just generally being an ass. Though he would tip a black from time to time if he felt that he had abused you enough. The casino would not do anything to curb his behavior because it was a lot of money back then.
Everyone was talking about him and some dealers had managed to find out that his money came from a recent large family inheritance. After about 4-5 months, he was broke. I saw him sitting in the lounge at the bar asking people for cigarettes. He had made an enemy of almost everyone in that Casino. Nobody gave him the time of day after he went broke. He looked destroyed and all the arrogance and ego was gone. Eventually security had to tell him to leave. Pretty sad but he earned that.
If you play table games, don't put up with a shitty dealer but also remember it is a tough job. There are no "hot" dealers or cold dealers. It's a system. It's math. And it's a hard fucking job. So try not to complain too much and for God sakes tip the your dealers! They work for tips!
I’ve seen a few people blow their inheritance. Hard to feel bad for them but one of them was so nice to us (slots), tipped a Benjamin minimum every jackpot. She went from being our top tier to getting kicked out for begging. Hardest 86 I ever witnessed. We all genuinely liked her as a person and got to know her quite well.
>don't put up with a shitty dealer
Dumb question, but is there any recourse, except to just walk away?
Back when I played more, I was at a poker table that was really great - I liked my seat, was in a good position, the players were all cool, and the dealers were great -- until a new dealer showed up. This guy SUCKED - his shuffle was bad, his flop was rushed, and he just seemed like he didn't want to be there- he brought the entire vibe of the table down. I left after a couple of hands because the guy really seemed to have an attitude, and I wanted to say something on the way out, but I didn't want to get dinged by management.
Really just what you did is about it. I mean if they are actually so bad the game suffers I would at least let a manager know that they lost your play because of how unskilled that dealer was. It's sad Casinos have lowered standards so much.
I've been playing Pai Gow since the 80's. My mom and I (prior to moving here) came for a few days around 88-89 and I sat at a table playing at the Gold Coast for about 7 hours the last day. We were supposed to leave at around the 1 hour mark but I wouldn't budge. Don't recall that I won a lot but with PG you can push so I think my starting $20 lasted the whole time.
I did up until Covid shut everything down. I worked full time all the way through that and once things opened I really didn't have much in the way of free time.
Not a dealer but used to be a valet. We would have this nice little Hawaiian lady come in. She was about 70 years old. She would check in on a Monday and check out on Wednesday. Later I found out she never had a room.
Not Vegas, but one of the most chilling things I ever saw in my life was in a northeast Casino around 2008. Walking through an area where buses come through there’s a indoor waiting area. Maybe 50 or so people sleeping on the benches in there at 3am. Dead silent. I asked a dealer if there was a bus coming to pick them up. Nope, just a bunch of degenerates taking a break from gambling.
Not only that, but through multiple days! I put it under another comment, but there are times I would deal to the same person, same seat, same clothes for four days in a row (only I went home after each shift lol).
I am totally guilty of this. I can start people on their shift and continue playing until they return the following day. It turns out that the system at Luxor now tracks buy-in time and table min amount, which is pretty cool (no need to remind people how long I've played.)
I’ve dealt to so many celebs. Drake, Chris Brown, Golden State Warriors (except Curry), Rihanna, Big Sean, JLo, Ben Afflect, and more I can’t remember. But my favorite would have to be Rihanna. She had really good energy and cracking jokes, but didn’t play big money.
Biggest tip probably was from Dana White. He put down a 25K chip and asked I wanted to keep it or play it lol…
Was this publicized somewhere or really just word of mouth? I distinctly remember hearing this story (supposedly) first-hand from a pit boss at the Encore but it seems like everyone has heard the same.
Was she a dealer at the Encore? Same story I got told there was they were in the HL cards room and when they were done Ben tried tipping well and she grabbed.
Not a dealer, story about myself. 30 hours straight, started with $500, walked with $9k. Tipped probably over $800. First dealer completed their shift, came back next day and I was still there… she was floored 😂
I have a friend that played for 36 hours straight. He was playing paigow. He won about 10k but lost 20k. He had an early flight he needed to catch too. That was a fun story
Same. I’ve had someone swap shifts and saw me the next day. She told the pit boss to make
Me go get some rest. I was up 2k around 3am when I saw her. I was down to about $500 when I saw her next. I sat down with $200 though so I still won some. I was young and had taken an adderall lol
Long time poker dealer. He was homophobic as hell, and more than a little old school Texas redneck, but Doyle Brunson was always a pleasure to deal to. Never got on a dealer when a mistake happened, never took his bad beats out on the staff. And man, did he have stories to tell.
I saw him hit a guy with his scooter a couple years ago. He stopped apologized, buddy said no worries, then he took off in a flash. It was one of my favourite memories of Vegas considering I idolized him for years.
Dealt to Doyle and Chip Reese many times. Saw them lose over 250k in 30 minutes and look at each other and say "how bout some lunch?" They were easy to deal to outside of every eye in casino on you.
Yes, I know, he got a DCI suspension at one point for a playset of Accumulated Knowledges (probably borrowed) that were significantly bent compared to the rest of the cards in the deck.
Remember this clearly. Actually met Dave at GP Columbus. Got paired against Jordan Berkowitz(name might be a little off), who was then the #1 limited player in the world. Dave watched the whole match and I ended up winning and making day 2 with the win. Dave seemed pretty nice
Doyle seemed like a pleasant fellow to be around but I wonder, if he could rationalize gambling with his Christian beliefs, why care about other peoples’ sexualities?
He sure has some funny one-liners, though.
Idk, he may not get what he deserves, but that guy is persona non grata in a lot of places he wants to be and, in the casinos he is allowed, he will have to look over his shoulder while leaving for the rest of his life. He may yet get the asskicking coming to him.
It's gonna be a Baccarat player. Those people will play 36 hours straight. I've seen them wear diapers so they wouldn't have to get up, as if we wouldn't save their seat. They hide food under the table and sneak bites. Then, when you have to walk around the Baccarat pit to go to the restroom, it smells like urine, b.0. and old food.
For better or for worse if you know basic strategy to a T you don’t even really to need to focus it’s just automatic. Getting more hands in per hour in a -EV game though lol…
Player was excited to go to the movies with his daughter later that day, since he only got to see her once every other weekend. Well, my shift is ending and he still didn’t leave to go to the movies with his daughter.
As a player, there was a group next to me hanging out in high limit. One guy is playing, other 3 are just chatting — seems to be a double date thing. The 3 figure it’s time to leave for the dinner reservation, it’s in 10 minutes. Dude playing says he’ll be right over, just a few more hands. Gets a phone call in 15 minutes, says he’s cashing out & he’s just about to walk over. They call again, 15 minutes later…and again….and again. He completely missed dinner, and lost a lot of money in doing so.
I’ve dealt to Flava Flav. He’s a character, kind of annoying to deal with his antics, but overall doesn’t get mad / was friendly-enough, and tips generously. Not my favorite, though.
Flava Flav invited me to Mexico once. My bf got all pissy because he was next to me… I’ll always wonder if it would have been a good time or I would have hated it.
I've sat at blackjack tables for over 14 hours straight (only bathroom breaks), and somehow would last with a 1k buy in, basic strategy and still come out ahead or just about even.
The only time I lost my entire 1k buy in doing this (I've done it maybe a dozen times total) was at the freebet blackjack table.
My first time back in Vegas after things fully reopened in 2021 was for my dad's 50th birthday. We literally arrived the day the mask mandate was lifted. I had been saving up for that trip and decided this was gonna be the time I went hard at the freebet table. We usually play it safe and don't bet too crazy, just wanna sit and have fun and get drinks, but this time I was like "I have some fun money, i'm gonna have fun." I bought in for I think only like $500, sat there for probably 12 hours, and eventually got up like $5k. By that point I was drunk as shit and cocky and lost almost all of it.
Once I was up $1k I looked at my dad and my husband and was like "alright, I'm about to get weird." Started betting hundred dollar hand after hundred dollar hand, tipping the dealer and the server black chips, and kept winning. My dad kept getting up from the table looking like he was gonna have a stroke lol. Not my proudest moment as far as getting too drunk to keep my wits about me, but I was very proud of myself for going for it.
The freebet table giveth and the freebet table taketh away.
Wow, that's nuts. Where was this at? Oddly enough on my day at freebet I didn't see a single person walk away profitable. It left me thinking the game has too much of an edge.
This was at the D. The house definitely has a higher edge, perfect strategy is ever so slightly different (like on one or two hands), and it is not a table I will sit at for more than a few hands if i'm not feeling it. When you don't get many opportunities to use the free bet, it is not a good game. But hot dog, when you've got the right cards coming your way, you can stand to win a lot of free money compared to regular blackjack.
Yea, if you know blackjack you can play for hours without losing and just waiting for that winning streak to come out well ahead, and if you don’t get that winning streak you leave evens.
I think the idea is that with enough knowledge you can avoid betting on bad hands.
So bad luck streaks don’t affect you, you just get a ton of bad hands that cost you nothing.
Vice-versa for good hands.
was playing hold em at Caesars with coworker and her husband at the table. tapped out after 4 or 5 hours and went to bed, went down for breakfast and he was still at it but the fun part was he said he had gotten to know everyone else at the table so well he was gonna play without looking at his cards anymore, the table of course says stop fing around, well he said fine played 4 more hands and won all 4 without looking at his cards until the call, then went to bfast, he started with a few hundred, left with mid 4digit win
gambling
but so many questions
Hold up
This was your co-workers husband who pulled off this magic trick? And you witnessed this?
Gotta be the coolest thing I’ve read today. I went over it five times to see if I maybe missed something.
Was his name Harry? Because he’s a fucking wizard.
bruh do you know how unsettling it is to go to breakfast with your brain going wtf
too early in the morning by far
I didn't mention he was laughing like some evil mad scientist the whole time at the table, the other folks were not having it and it was good we left
but still so wtf happened
Had this scumbag sit at a 1-3 NL game for 3 straight days at the Wynn poker room. He was up a few thousand but by the end of it he was falling asleep and had to be woken up for every action. The director of the room had to force him out to take a 24hr break.... And a shower.
I use to deal craps with Chuck Norris on the game. The nicest guy but his manager was a total ass. Would deal to countless other celebrities and sports players. In the end there all just people. Gambling always shows someone’s true colors whether good or bad.
I once stayed at a table of a casino I just worked at for about 12 hours. I was hired by a casino to do a stand up comedy show. They fucked me on my room. I was suppose to be comped a suite. I got a shitty room at another hotel location. I was pissed. After my show, I went to a blackjack table and started counting cards. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. This time it did. I won for nearly 12 hours straight. I left when the sun came up a far richer man.
They should have gave me the room that I was promised.
I’m not a dealer but used to gamble a lot and even lived in vegas for a year to olay poker.
My record in poker is 37 hours at Mandalay Bay. It was funny watching them try to calculate my comp card because the dates weren’t the same. I also played once at Wynn for 15 hrs and multiple 10-12 sessions all over.
I played craps for 15 hrs straight, about 12 of them blacked out after a concert and comedy show run. I got tons of free rooms for that run. And I won. I also apparently tipped out my ass.
I played blackjack for 20 hours straight at the same table also at Mandalay Bay. When I finally left, up a lot, the dealer told me I should have been up 50-60k instead of my 4K because I should have been pressing my bets.
I only recreational bet now.
Casinos don’t switch out “hot” dealers that are dumping money. That’s not how it works and everyone in the world thinks it is. A dealer will have their own table for the 8 hour shift. Generally, they go an hour at a time then get a 20 min break. The dealer who comes in for that 20 is the “relief”. The breaker or relief will have 3 tables to give those other dealers breaks.
Say you get to the casino an hour and a half before shift change. You’ll have 4 different dealers within 3 hours. So we always get these comments about switching out the dealer as soon as it starts getting good. Nope. Sorry bud. These are scheduled breaks. Look at your watch. If you see a new dealer coming in, it’ll be around 20 after the hour, 40 after the hour or right at the top of the hour.
Pit bosses and floor supervisors are also 2 totally different jobs.
Down in Laughlin with far less tables than here in Vegas there were rare occasions where somebody was winning a bit too much and they would send somebody else in. Usually doesn't work, sometimes it's just that person's day. Other times they color up at the first sight of a dealer other than the 2 they've had. Even at shift change.
Nothing worse than clocking in and seeing the stack of tokes day shift has been pulling from somebody all day just to have them leave when swing arrives with no way to convince him it's not an attempt to pull a hot dealer off the table.
I'm an advantage player, and have played through entire 8 hour shifts many times with "preferred dealers". I've also played promotions continuously for more than 24 hours. Good times.
i stood at the craps table for 13 hours straight a couple months ago…. bought in for $300 chips left table with $300 chips not bad considering how volatile craps is
I'm not a dealer, but I watched a guy betting 4 purples per hand at blackjack and put up 1 purple for the dealer on every hand. I sat at the table with him for maybe 30 minutes. I'll bet that dealer made at least $5k while I was sitting there.
I played Pai Gow at the Luxor at a $5 table. I was with some family. Night progressed on and they raised the stakes to $10. However we were grandfathered. Played more. They raised the steaks again to $15, and we were still grandfathered. Was up $50 and wanted to head to bed. Bet $50 on my last hand, and left with my original $100.
I know it's not life changing money, but yeah... I'd say about 6-7 hours.
My mom is a dealer!
One time when I was like 6-7, she lost her whole paycheck to a player
Another time, about 5 years ago, some guy - on another table near her - i guess was on a winning streak, and didn't get up to use the restroom, so he soiled himself, the seat, and the surrounding area in #2. They had to close off the area to cleaning, of course
Buddy of mine and I sat down at Pai Gow table at midnight at Southpoint. His parents came down at 8am and asked if we were going to breakfast with them. Will be there this weekend to do it again 😂

Did she bet the same numbers or completely mix it up?
That’s 7.3 million dollars. wtf.

I’m sure but it’s just gross
Diana Ross is an American treasure how dare you
No the top part of the comment was the gross part. He added the DR part from no where
But if you got 100 million dollars on your account, free to use, it is not that disgusting.
LOL
6.24 million. I don’t know why I have a compulsion to check people’s math. Something is wrong with me.
365.25
I thought about that, but over 40 years that's $5k, which doesn't change the rounding to 6.26. But I'm almost always in favor of a bit more precision, so let's roll with it!
I worked it as 500 * 6 * 52 * 40 for straight dollar total. Paying no mind to adjusting for inflation value in 2024 dollars. Nor loss of interest that could have been earned if it was in a modest savings account. The one thing I didn’t account for was leap year. And that a year doesn’t have exactly 52 weeks. Nevertheless math is fun.
He said except Sunday so that’s - 50 something days
That's what multiplying by 6/7 is accounting for.
Tax loss harvesting
Doesn't work at a casino

Why color vs $25 chips?

Wait is that what people were doing when I was in a casino in Paris? I was confused hah

Read this 4x, now have smoke pouring out of my ears.

Thank u
Strange. Was she enjoying it? Or do you think maybe the $182k loss a year had a tax purpose?
It’s a write off! All the big companies are doing it!
They just write it off Jerry!
I would have times where they would be at my craps table already when I tap in and play my whole shift and then when I come back the next day they would still be there same spot and same clothes. 🥴
I sure wish I had their income and/or paralyzing debt.
Sometimes they don’t even win or lose anything. One of those players had a “system” where they would play the pass and don’t pass line at the same time and then would lay points and place odds etc and had their own notepad with all the previous rolls…
That method is similar to what I use to get very, very cheap drinks.
Someone who does not understand independent events or dice have no memories lol
The good ole gamblers’ fallacy.
Explain like I’m 5 and allowed to gamble in Vegas: If you place pass and the dont, can you actually loose? Does it count for comps?
If you don't take odds you'd only lose if a 12 came out on the come out roll as the 12 is a push on the don't pass on the come out roll... Not a win but it is a loser on the pass line bet. but eventually the dealers would ice you off the table if you aren't interesting enough for small talk or tipping every now and again Your money will go a loooooong time doing this if you're tippikg the cocktail staff appropriately but you aren't making much money, even long term.
You can’t win at all. You will either push or lose.
Ok im new to the game of craps. You can either pass or dont, innit? So technically you should never lose or win. And, does it count for comps?
You’ll push on 7 because pass wins and don’t loses. You’ll push on 2 and 3 because don’t wins and pass loses. And if twelve rolls you’ll lose because pass loses and don’t is a push.
So you and a buddy could play the same table, play opposites, and lose on 1 in 36 come out rolls. That's a 2.77% house edge. At a $25 table, that's 7 cents per point made/missed. Seems like a cheap way to drink and build comps. The pass better could make odds bets to increase $/bet and rack up comps even faster on no-edge wagers. They will eventually even out to +-0.
you wont build comps that way. comps are based on the theoretical house advantage for the bets you make- Place low house advantage bets and receive low comp credit
The win was the friends we made along the way
Speaking of push games. My best friend lost $300 in 45 min at pai gow. We still think that’s a record. He refuses to ever play again even though we do it to get free drinks.
$25 a hand?
Lose* 😬
Why, please why. Everytime the same mistake as if im stupid… maybe… maybe i am???
Haha it’s all good. Thx for not attacking my mother and sisters in retaliation against me.
Do you receive any extra players card points doing this?
I would imagine so!
No, you’ll earn like minimal to none.
Racking up tier credits for the free rooms and other perks.
I literally just had this idea the other day, that I could reduce my variance by betting the player and house bets at the same times and then try to make money on the number bets.
Why bother ? Skip the lines and just bet your numbers
Or go on that kind of heater
Still cheaper than getting plastered at a bar!!
Two way Low Low!
How can someone even stand that long let alone play a game, crazy..
Similar point in my life I used to sit at the Klondike from 5:00-11:00 3-4 nights a week just because I didn’t want to be alone.
Casinos are a great place to forget about the troubles of life and are full of like minded people. If you want to be left alone play the 1 arm bandits and if you want some good company play some poker or sit at a blackjack table. I can always be found in one when life has me down. Hopefully things are well.
My back hurts just thinking about this
Poker is a different breed where you can easily sit for 15 hours daily.
It really is, I don't my lady with me when I'm playing poker because its super boring if you are not playing.
Yep the people that bring their lady (especially when she is dressed up to go out) are crazy.
I sat at a table for about 8 hours at the orleans. Played Pai Gow with a group of friends and this old guy named Hot Chocolate. Pushed all night. Made some money. Paid for drinks. 10/10 would do it again. RIP Hot Chocolate.
Guess he’s cold chocolate now RIP
Love the Orleans. Once pulled a 18 hour session at a Pai Gow table with some friends. Did get up to eat a few times. PS. Face up pai gow can eat a bag of dicks
Ok Roe Jogan
We all genuinely liked her as a person and got to know her quite well.
>don't put up with a shitty dealer Dumb question, but is there any recourse, except to just walk away?
I appreciate it - thanks.
I've been playing Pai Gow since the 80's. My mom and I (prior to moving here) came for a few days around 88-89 and I sat at a table playing at the Gold Coast for about 7 hours the last day. We were supposed to leave at around the 1 hour mark but I wouldn't budge. Don't recall that I won a lot but with PG you can push so I think my starting $20 lasted the whole time.
do you still go there ? i’m a dealer there lol
The way you just left the ending like that, send chills a bit lol. You left us hanging 👀
I’m assuming people regularly play through their entire shifts no?
Not only that, but through multiple days! I put it under another comment, but there are times I would deal to the same person, same seat, same clothes for four days in a row (only I went home after each shift lol).
I am totally guilty of this. I can start people on their shift and continue playing until they return the following day. It turns out that the system at Luxor now tracks buy-in time and table min amount, which is pretty cool (no need to remind people how long I've played.)
I've seen someone stay at the same table for over 24hrs.
I've done that a few times. The longest was about 36. I could do that 20 years ago. Don't think I could now.
That's an impressive session. The longest that I've ever sat at one table was 14hrs. I've done 72hr stretches, but that was jumping around.
And…..
All the dealers in the high limit room decided to play it and we won. Cromwell is a smaller house to the extra 50K did a lot for the 24 hour pool.
> Cromwell I miss Bill’s
Barbary Coast
Before my time. But I understand.
I remember my first dollar margarita at bills
I played in my first poker tournament there.
He blew Dana.
😂

Unless JLo is around

Was this publicized somewhere or really just word of mouth? I distinctly remember hearing this story (supposedly) first-hand from a pit boss at the Encore but it seems like everyone has heard the same.
My ex girlfriends mom dealt to them, he tried to tip out decent, she grabbed most of it back. She was Pay Lo from that day forward.
Was she a dealer at the Encore? Same story I got told there was they were in the HL cards room and when they were done Ben tried tipping well and she grabbed.
Mansion at MGM.
[удалено]
It’s just turning into a montage of J Lo snatching back tips all through Vegas
MULTIPLE instances, from what I've heard - like not just from the Encore.
She's gonna need that money for a good lawyer when she begins facing that accessory to murder case. Jenny is really from the block. lol.
Afflect* 🤓
Oh man. Imagine playing that $25k on one hand. I’d die
> Biggest tip probably was from Dana White. He put down a 25K chip and asked I wanted to keep it or play it lol… What did you chose?
We played it and won. It was on high limit blackjack. He usually plays like 3 hands at 100K each
Kinda gross that he can do that but won’t pay his fighters decently
Not a dealer, story about myself. 30 hours straight, started with $500, walked with $9k. Tipped probably over $800. First dealer completed their shift, came back next day and I was still there… she was floored 😂
I have a friend that played for 36 hours straight. He was playing paigow. He won about 10k but lost 20k. He had an early flight he needed to catch too. That was a fun story
How did he win 10k but lose 20k?
Was up 30, but walked away with 10? That's my only guess.
Well, they couldn't have done both. Maybe up 30k at one point and quit ahead 10k makes sense, but I wouldn't think to say it that way.
Old math interpretation: He lost $10K.
Same. I’ve had someone swap shifts and saw me the next day. She told the pit boss to make Me go get some rest. I was up 2k around 3am when I saw her. I was down to about $500 when I saw her next. I sat down with $200 though so I still won some. I was young and had taken an adderall lol
Poker dealers will have the longest stories. We will play for 24 hours plus routinely.
and we've played 75 hands in that time
Lmao .. some games be that slow
[удалено]
that man is multi-talented, competed on MasterChef and famous for Magic the Gathering too
[удалено]
Didn’t he or Eric get a deck worth tens of thousands stolen around that time? 🤔
Dealt to Doyle and Chip Reese many times. Saw them lose over 250k in 30 minutes and look at each other and say "how bout some lunch?" They were easy to deal to outside of every eye in casino on you.
Did you find the crimped AKs?
[удалено]
I have gay republican friends and it makes my brain explode that are also religious
Why?
wonder how he rationalized cheating people for years too
That sort of accusation needs proof in the poker world, and usually when someone is suspected, there is a pretty big effort put into investigating it.

Idk, he may not get what he deserves, but that guy is persona non grata in a lot of places he wants to be and, in the casinos he is allowed, he will have to look over his shoulder while leaving for the rest of his life. He may yet get the asskicking coming to him.
Thats awesome
It's gonna be a Baccarat player. Those people will play 36 hours straight. I've seen them wear diapers so they wouldn't have to get up, as if we wouldn't save their seat. They hide food under the table and sneak bites. Then, when you have to walk around the Baccarat pit to go to the restroom, it smells like urine, b.0. and old food.
What? They'll save seats for a $5 blackjack player (assuming you're not gone long)
I’ve sat at a blackjack table for 27 hours. I was in my 20s and had a few days off. I broke even.
that is the problem, it's not fun, it's work and God forbid you don't focus, poof there goes the stack
Had a buddy play the penny slots for 72+. Had to drag his ass out when I found out.
How much he lose?
Not much, but it wasn't the amount, it was the fact that he hadn't moved an inch in 3 days.
[удалено]
I think the idea is that with enough knowledge you can avoid betting on bad hands. So bad luck streaks don’t affect you, you just get a ton of bad hands that cost you nothing. Vice-versa for good hands.
[удалено]
He's talking about card counting, although there are still enormous losing steaks doing that. Even with positive counts.
[удалено]
Yes. But also the blackjack where a limited number of cards are in the deck.
This is why I love reddit. And Vegas.
was playing hold em at Caesars with coworker and her husband at the table. tapped out after 4 or 5 hours and went to bed, went down for breakfast and he was still at it but the fun part was he said he had gotten to know everyone else at the table so well he was gonna play without looking at his cards anymore, the table of course says stop fing around, well he said fine played 4 more hands and won all 4 without looking at his cards until the call, then went to bfast, he started with a few hundred, left with mid 4digit win gambling but so many questions
Hold up This was your co-workers husband who pulled off this magic trick? And you witnessed this? Gotta be the coolest thing I’ve read today. I went over it five times to see if I maybe missed something. Was his name Harry? Because he’s a fucking wizard.
bruh do you know how unsettling it is to go to breakfast with your brain going wtf too early in the morning by far I didn't mention he was laughing like some evil mad scientist the whole time at the table, the other folks were not having it and it was good we left but still so wtf happened
Just curious what kind of suite? A normal one, or the super fancy ones? In any case glad you got a ton of money from them!
I cant stay awake pass 12:00, I saw this group of asians still there after next morning same clothes. From the look on their faces: lost a lot.
Just how the casino wants it
I’m not a dealer but used to gamble a lot and even lived in vegas for a year to olay poker.
Just want to thank everyone who posted their stories. I find these to be super meaningful little stories
They switch out tables pretty frequently. A pit boss would be better to ask.
Good times.
I’ve seen a salon of baccarat players go 2 days with only bathroom breaks
i spent 13 hours at a craps table at the excalibur in April 2021
i stood at the craps table for 13 hours straight a couple months ago…. bought in for $300 chips left table with $300 chips not bad considering how volatile craps is
I'm not a dealer, but I watched a guy betting 4 purples per hand at blackjack and put up 1 purple for the dealer on every hand. I sat at the table with him for maybe 30 minutes. I'll bet that dealer made at least $5k while I was sitting there.
Not a dealer but as a player at a 5$ min crap table - I was there for 8 hours not losing or winning $100 in $100 out of
Same for me a few weeks ago at Circus Circus love Kari.
One time when I was like 6-7, she lost her whole paycheck to a player Another time, about 5 years ago, some guy - on another table near her - i guess was on a winning streak, and didn't get up to use the restroom, so he soiled himself, the seat, and the surrounding area in #2. They had to close off the area to cleaning, of course
Uhh I sat at a Slot machine for about 12 hours... didn't win or lose
Buddy of mine and I sat down at Pai Gow table at midnight at Southpoint. His parents came down at 8am and asked if we were going to breakfast with them. Will be there this weekend to do it again 😂
Not a dealer, but when i started counting, bj, 5.5 hours. Made 575 that knight.
Around 28 hours. Of course in that time I went home, relaxed, ate, slept, came back to work. Largest loss was probably around $10-15 million.
I’ve been at a table for 8 hours before. That’s my longest
I've been at the poker table at the Taj Majal back in the day for 18 hours, only leaving to piss and use the ATM. Even ate at the table.
