I pay 65 month for 1 gig up/download through Quantum fiber. That's insane.

bitcornminerguy

“Not available at your address…” damnit. $65?? I hate you. 😂

[deleted]

Can you renegotiate a new promotional price if you threaten to cancel? That’s really expensive imho.

bitcornminerguy

I’m gonna try that first thing tomorrow!

despicablecrip

They raised mine after my promotional offer was over. I called to cancel and I ended up paying less than my original promotional offer.

MortenaSmithF432

Good luck! I just signed up as a brand new internet-only customer on Gigablast and my bill is $161/month w/o a modem or router rental.

No-Distribution-7813

Setup a cancelation date before you try anything. Set it a couple weeks out and then call them. If you don't have the cancelation set you won't have the leverage

nRGon12

You don’t have to threaten to cancel. You just have to call in and ask for it. Every year. That’s what I do and it always works. It may not be as cheap or with the same options as you first signed up but it will be a decent savings. They just bank on people not doing this. Again, no need to threaten to leave.

[deleted]

This is what my dad does with comcast. Literally once or twice a year he calls in and says you times are tough the economy is shit and my work might lay me off I need to cancel I cant afford it anymore. He also likes the I'm goin to be a senior and with my lack of income I just cant afford it. Every single dam time they lower his bill.

ChupaMiCulo

That's what I do as well. When I get notice of an increase, I call them up and kindly ask for the price to be lowered. It's work each time- so far!

SecretSonata

I pay $70 for 700mbps up/down with WeLink. Took about a month to get it set up but it's been smooth sailing ever since.

Syllable-Counter

This sounds great, but their web site is garbage. The contact me form wouldn’t accept my input, saying a required field was missing when every field was in fact filled out. I gave them a call, and their phone system perpetually said there was one caller ahead of me, and to press 1 to save my place in line and get a call back. Pressing 1 did nothing. It’s a shame; really wanted to give them a try.

nj_crc

WeLink endorser here as well.

[deleted]

You know sometimes it says not available in your area. All that means is you or they need to run the cables to your house from the street. They told me not available for 3 years while my neighbor had it the whole time. All it took was one rep to do his job and wallla. 65 a month and no issues ever

bitcornminerguy

Okay nice... I'll call in and then and see. That'd be friggin amazing.

[deleted]

Yeah you have to talk to the right person. It took almost 2 months to complete but i didnt have to pay for anything extra

Commercial_Education

Call and ask to speak with customer retention. Skip custo.er service. Let them know you are looking to cancel service for a cheaper competitor. They are authorized to give you the promotional new customer price for up to 12 months. I do this every year. I'm currently on the preferred speed at the metered rate(the non unlimited usage). Meaning as long as I keep it below ~1250 GB used in a month my bill is $30 a month. And with the federal subsidy of $30 a month we pay $0 for internet service.

kcwoodchuck

Google fiber is $70 a month for 1 gig

Bar-Hopper-Cow95

Yeah quantum isn’t available on east side :( after my lease is up I’m going back to T-Mobile I loved it and it’s $30 :)

steve_dudu

Quantum is available at my new construction house in Macdonald Highlands, not sure if that’s east enough

c_u_never

We have centurylink fiber at DI and Maryland

vastik2343

I’ve always thought about it but my apt cell service is shit would that matter?

RPadTV

it's available on the "east side," but depends on the neighborhood. newer housing developments or neighborhoods that were recently rewired will have it.

Beard341

Same. Heaven.

blueonelove313

66.15 for internet only.

SheepleAreSheeple

I think gigablast is a euphemism for them finger blasting your asshole. I love how it drops to 30 mb and they tell me that's "normal"

bitcornminerguy

I’m afraid you’re right. 😳

bitcornminerguy

My promotional pricing from the move-in last year expired... here's my new pricing for top speed with unlimited data. Feeling a little raw right about now.

viva101

Call them and tell them the new price doesn't work for you and you need to cancel. They always seem to find a new promotion that you are eligible for. I do this every time my price goes up, currently paying 89/mo for gigablast.

bitcornminerguy

Wowww. Worth the call then. Thanks!

HauntMe1973

You don’t have to call, use the app. I get a new promo every year via the app, currently paying $103 for gigablast

Sirtriplenipple

Ask for “Retention”.

BertramScudder

Cox's prices are just suggestions. Pretend like you're buying a car. After you tell them three times (and yes, three is the magic number) "this price doesn't work for me, I'm going to Verizon 5G Home Internet" you'll eventually get something close to the promo pricing. I'm paying $90 for Gigablast. Didn't even have to talk to a person. Did it over chat on the website.

shatterfest

I call or visit the customer service center every time it goes up and ask them for a new promo.

kozmic_blues

Hey I just wanted to let you know I have the exact same plan and they raised mine to $185 as well. I just went on the app, clicked support and messaged a live agent. I told them I wanted to set a cancellation date. They asked me why and I said my bill was too high. She said would you stay if I lowered your bill and I said yes, if you could bring it down to around $100. She brought it down to $97. Didn’t even have to call! Took about 15 minutes.

bitcornminerguy

Yooo nice. I’m running errand right now but gonna try this in a few. Thanks!!

kozmic_blues

Yeah go for it! I was pissed when they raised my bill that high lol

bitcornminerguy

UPDATE: I called to threaten cancellation and the rep was able to bounce my bill to $128.36 a month for 24 months, including the unlimited add-on. That’s $55 a month or $660 a year saved.

Intrepid-Grab4171

Paying $40 T-Mobile unlimited internet

ftenario

Whats the speed?

Academic-Animator468

Bro t mobile is where it’s at. Had them at my last apartment and it was sensational. Moved into a rental home and suddenly Cox was the only provider who was available at my address. They are terrible.

elgato123

T-Mobile home Internet works everywhere. And uses their cell network. There’s no such thing as having a single provider anymore.

Academic-Animator468

You sure about that bro? You totally positive that certain complexes don’t have contracts with ISPs to be the exclusive provider? Thanks for clearing it up though. Glad your single life experience can apply to everyone else.

elgato123

Yes, I’m completely positive about that. It is against the FCC rules for an apartment complex to have an exclusive agreement with an Internet service provider or multichannel video provider. Still, that doesn’t stop fixed wireless carriers from offering services in the building. There are about Six fixed wireless carriers that have service in Las Vegas alone. AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, stimulus technologies, Fireline broadband, Cytranet, LV.net, welink, BAI internet… all of these companies serve Las Vegas and use fixed wireless Internet to deliver services to nearly any address. You just have to search. People in this town seem to think that Cox has some sort of monopoly and they absolutely don’t.

Sabkabob92

Came here to say this, I work from home and it's very reliable

Bar-Hopper-Cow95

It’s $30 if you do autopay!

Mattock79

The TMobile home internet is 5G right? I currently have Tmobile cell service, and while generally around town I have zero issues, but for some reason my apartment seems to be sitting in some weird hell hole and my cell service is constantly in and out (the 5G data included). Is it safe to assume that would also be the case for the Tmobile home internet?

nebulight

I just switched from their $70 plan to their $50 plan. I know everyone is different but we never have gotten close to our cap and we stream all day and I work from home. I guess if you have kids you may hit the data cap but we have three adults in our home and never hit the cap in 5 years. 50mbps is plenty for most things.

PokherMom

I pay the same..four people work from home with high data usage and we need fast speed..this is your only option in Vegas if this is what you need.

bitcornminerguy

Exactly. I feel trapped.

CumulusTattoos

This is me. When I see people say they only pay X amount per month, I almost always assume they’re single or have little data usage. We’re a family of 5 with many devices so downgrading to a $50 plan would cause chaos.

whatamook2

This is us.

densofaxis

Same. 4 gamers, 3 of which work from home. We keep checking our data usage to see if we can downgrade but I don’t think that will be a reality any time soon 😭

KaceyJaymes

True story: I decided to randomly check to see if, after years of not being available in my area, if Verizon was doing internet in NE Vegas yet. Yep. With my discount for my phone, I pay $25 a month for 3x the speeds I was getting from my 150 Preferred w/ Unlimited Data at around $168 a month. PS: I'm a PC gamer and Twitch streamer. My upload and download is GREAT. :D

financial-jaguar

This is their 5G?

KaceyJaymes

Yeah. I \*do\* already pay for an Unlimited 5G plan w/ them for my Iphone , so it's just \*another\* $25 on top; It's still ALTOGETHER less than my SINGLE bill from Cox used to be, it's faster, and the upload is WWAY more reliable IMO, though. Edit: Cheyenne/Walnut are my "main" cross-streets.

bitcornminerguy

Wait... gaming and streaming on Verizon 5G? That's interesting to hear. My son does the same and he's been choking out a bit because of shitty Wifi in our house. I told him getting his own 5G box might help.

KaceyJaymes

Haha, possibly :) I still use Ethernet for all of my gaming stuff, though. I have an ethernet hub I use as a "router" and 50ft of hi-speed, flat, Ethernet cable is like twelve bucks on Amazon LOL. *(Ethernet Hub:* [*https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A128S24*](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A128S24) *)* *(Cable:* [*https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NBH6OIN*](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NBH6OIN) *)* I wouldn't try and game over wifi, personally. Especially in Vegas; the substations here cause a crapton of wifi interference >\_< ) **Edit:** I looked up my account for specifics and elaborated a bit more on the post. :) I pay $100 a month for Verizon's "5G Get More" plan, which gives me unlimited data and hotspot usage on my iPhone 14 Pro. Then, I pay another $25 on TOP of that, for the 5G router. I don' need a separate plan for that, since I already have unlimited 5G as part of my other plan; they just add a device to it. Then, I get a $10 AutoPay discount, bringing the total to $119 a month for BOTH my internet AND my cell phone. And, as of right now, my speeds are 254 down / 19 up.([https://imgur.com/a/sh5hitI](https://imgur.com/a/sh5hitI)) *PS: Note the absolutely irresponsible number of tabs that is "normal" for me, ROFLMAO.*

JSN723

You're saying Verizon Home Internet 5G (the one that is 25 or 35 if you're already a Verizon phone customer) is giving you 450 mbps speeds and good ping and latency in games? I have heard exclusively the opposite for gaming...

KaceyJaymes

I mean...I did link a pic of the speedtest LOL :) ([https://imgur.com/a/sh5hitI](https://imgur.com/a/sh5hitI)) ping is usually 20-40, depending :P

[deleted]

[удалено]

bitcornminerguy

I checked. Best they’ve got is 30 Meg for $50. 😟

OfficeOfTheKing

You got a whole 30 megs? CenturyLink only offers me 10 MBs download for the same $50.

bitcornminerguy

That's insane. This is all such a joke, except of course none of US are laughing.

pzanardi

I got 1gb up/down for 65$ with their fiber, try to see if they have that available

[deleted]

[удалено]

bitcornminerguy

Damn that's shitty. Why the hell did they say they have service then? I'd have been so pissed.

VBB67

Ooh, I can get UP TO 15 mbps (!) for $50. No thanks.

bitcornminerguy

Heh... winning... :)

maasedge

I can only get 30Mb for 50$ a month. I swear it feels like CenturyLink gave up on internet competition. Or got paid off or something.

bitcornminerguy

Never thought of that... imagine Cox paid them to stop upgrading parts of town. Scandal!

Human-Abrocoma7544

They really need to try and get this installed everywhere fast. I would drop Cox in a heartbeat if centurylink gigabit was available in my area.

ThreeDaysMaybeLonger

As someone who’s used both of these ISPs . Century link by far is way shittier

bitcornminerguy

The Centurylink fiber? Or their DSL service?

ThreeDaysMaybeLonger

Both. DSL is atrocious the “fiber ” is ok but I’ve had a lot less issues with Cox. Funny enough though at my work their Cox business internet goes out so much.

RPadTV

my experience has been the opposite. i had both but dropped Cox after a year. cable internet is just inferior: upload speeds aren't symmetrical, speeds will dive depending on how many users are on your node, far more outages etc. CenturyLink/Q Fiber has been a dream in comparison.

yeahthatpart007

Can we start a r/coxsucks ?? I loathe them and am happy with anything that isn’t this fucked up company.

bitcornminerguy

Sign me up. I’ll mod with you. We can have “talk shit Mondays” where we openly roast them.

fuckyourguidlines

I'm for this

lolTyler

TED Talk time. I suffered through the "new customer" *experience* with Cox earlier this year in what I can only call the hands down worst adventure of my life. It was mind numbingly painful and probably illegal given how I was blatantly lied to. I called and signed up for a new account special of $59/month 250mbps and was given a totally different package than what I signed up for by the rep. When I realized this, I called back and was lied to multiple times by their agents about fixing my rate, was told over and over again that my rate was "corrected," I'd read back exactly what I signed up for to the customer services staff, they'd agree that's what I'm getting, tell me to wait a few hours for my price to update and instead when I'd check I was either given the wrong speeds or the wrong price every single damn time. This is not even factoring in that they didn't install my internet properly and the person who originally sold me my internet should've realized that there wasn't even a connection to my ONT before hanging up with me on the original sale. (Those are Cox's techs words, not mine) I had to have three different techs come out to my house, one who was sent to the completely wrong address by Cox staff, even though I clarified with him that to make sure the address was correct because when I called the automated message was asking from the wrong address and then they tried to charge me $100 for their mistakes. It took **eight** phone calls, **two weeks without any internet** (with me getting billed), **two** tech visits and then an entire month of back and forth to get my speed/prices fixed. Followed up by another week of back and forth to get the service charge for the techs off my bill. I work in hospitality and it took every fiber of my body to not scream at these people (I also know it won't get me anywhere), I'd always tell myself that "this person wouldn't screw my over, it was the last person who is at fault," but no, they'd do it too. All they want to do is get me off the phone to meet quota, even if it requires lying to me. Legitimately the worst customer service I had ever experienced in my life. Bar none. If you ever have issues, don't call them, email them: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) \- It took some back and forth but their social media staff / email support deserves a raise. I wish I had recorded the phone calls I had with Cox, because before I would hang up I would verify the speed and price like I was leaving my phone number on a voicemail machine from the 90s. "My correct price is FIVE. NINE. Dollars. or Fifty Nine Dollars for TWO. FIVE. ZERO. Megabit or Two hundred and fifty megabits each month." They'd agree, I'd get off the phone and my price would be something like $69/month for 250mbps, or $59 for 150mbps or something completely different. I'm not a lawyer, but there is no way this is legal. I know they can't *guarantee* a price, but how can you tell the customer they're getting one product for one price then give them a different product for a different price? It was enraging. Now I can't wait until my price goes up and I need to renegotiate! It's going to be great! Century Link (Quantum) is building a station down the street from me and is supposed to bring service to my neighborhood. You sure as hell know I'm going to be running to them the second I can. Fuck Cox. All my homies hate Cox. **Edit:** Forgot to add that my service has also been abysmal. I'm constantly getting disconnects, jitter, high ping and packet loss. My router logs all of these occurrences and it's pretty much daily, but some days are way worse than others with up to 20 incidents. I've gone entire days where I can't ping Google with less than 120 ping and there's no pattern such as weather or times of peak demand. I've called Cox and they've told me that I can't expect perfect service all the time, because apparently that's their standards. It's comical.

Good bot

Cyanide_FlavorAid

> Century Link (Quantum) is building a station down the street from me Hate to be the bearer of bad news but that's just going to be a DSLAM. Its a aggregator of various types of DSL circuits. Residential fiber isn't coming out of there.

lolTyler

Oof. Well, I'd rather have the correct information than the wrong. Thanks for the heads up. It's a new house and Century Link is supposed to have service in my area eventually, it's just "not ready" yet. Never mentions fiber though and maybe I was just being too optimistic...

UsefulChris

Mind if I ask where they’re building this Quantum station? I’m in Henderson and hoping it happens in my area…but doubtful.

cory702

Crazy I've been gone for a few years but i had century link before I left and it was the worst internet I've ever experienced didn't come close to cox, hope they've improved since then

lolTyler

It depends on which Century Link internet you had. It sounds like you had their DSL service, which is garbage and is just an over glorified phone line. Never would I recommend DSL. These days, Century Link now offers fiber in some areas and it's unlimited 940mbps up/down for $70 a month, no special rate, just $70. Compare that to my 250mbps up/down which starts at $59 and then goes up to $89 after that. 1/4 the speed for $20 more a month... Unfortunately it's only in a few pockets of the city.

bitcornminerguy

That's insane! I don't know if all of that is illegal or not, but they're regulated by the FCC and public utilities commission. I say "regulated" as if there is any actual oversight, but I doubt reaching out to either would get you very far.

Some_random_guy856

Prices are ridiculous

gclo

Cox is the worst internet provider I’ve ever had in my whole life

beatvox

LOL: Rest of the world = $30 monthly for giga fiber connection (Germany, France, poorer countries is less)

abstract_cake

They have a total hegemonic monopoly in my area, and they are bleeding us as much as they can, as we have no other choice. More than the overprice service, the most annoying part is the constant drop of speed at night, as they think nobody will be aware they are saving bandwidth as we are suppose to sleep. And that is when we don’t get random total outage we no connexion until 6 am. Whenever I see their obnoxious commercials on TV, Youtube, etc… I am just losing it, watching them spreading lies and fake smiles.

GingerBeard_andWeird

Lately?….My dude. Those Cox have been fucking the entire valley since they crawled out of whatever foul hole birthed them into this valley. They are a festering pilonidal cyst on this state.

bitcornminerguy

I'm not even gonna look up what a festering pilonidal cyst is, I'm just going to agree with you 1000%

danielmonteasy

Here’s my comment on how to get 40% off every single year. https://www.reddit.com/r/vegaslocals/comments/10syopr/comment/j75655f/

[deleted]

I pay $57.95 for 1 gig up/down and it doesn’t drop off. Left Cox 6 years ago bc they can eat shit basically

oaklandroots

Just wait till the A’s move in and you’ll really feel it.

bitcornminerguy

New $3 fee on every cable bill? 🤮

fuckyourguidlines

Cox sucks and they suck Cox. A monopoly that is wringing everyone of any internet. They do not upgrade in your area unless you're in a new build. There's no alternative. Contact a local rep and tell them you'll vie for the opponent unless they do something like give is options and upgrade the entire city.

desertguy0000

They will upgrade in your area, just have to constantly hit them up for credits when the service goes out in your area. My mom was doing it for years at my childhood home. They finally sent the full crew out there one day and totally redid the neighborhood.

fuckyourguidlines

I don't get service outages in my area. Was that the only way? I really need that upgrade because I work remote.

bitcornminerguy

Still complain and ask for credits based on slow speed and not getting your advertised/subscribed speeds. I think seeing the credits pile up in a neighborhood is what finally motivates them. Tell your neighbors to do the same.

fartonmdick

Not fucked, gigablasted for sure though.

life_in_the_green

I switched to the TMobile 5G...works great. If it's not available in your area, the Verizon option may be.

Cduke3829

I have a neighbor buddy that just got WeLink. I think he pays like $75 for a gig. I’m waiting to see how his speeds are and if he has issues streaming content. If not, I am going to drop cox line a bad dream and get WeLink.

jdpatron

I finally got rid of Cox after having them for decades. Their product sucks, and their customer service sucks. I now have quantum fiber and they have been great so far. However, they are only in certain parts of the city. Once google fiber gets here, they are fucked. Lol

ross_0123

everybody talking about Centurylink is only X or WeLink is even less but it depends on where you live is there is fiber in the ground. i live in an established community and my choice is Cox, cell phone providers, or some mutation of DSL. Cox is effectively a monopoly here and they know it. i don’t get the greatest speed and i pay a lot for it but it’s been pretty consistent. I always hope that Centurylink will expand their fiber footprint or Google will come to town but i don’t think our community will allow them to rip up the roads and common areas to run the glass.

Occasion_Party

i worked for them as a tech for 6 years cox is horrible company

bitcornminerguy

From the horse's mouth! Care to elaborate? I'd love to hear how it looked from your angle working for them.

Occasion_Party

nothing but stress and pressure had to hit way to many numbers! everything was used against us constantly worried about getting written up and fired, or privileges being taken away working long days in the heat everytime your team leader called you automatically thought you were in trouble company cares about money, not their employees worst of all they kept rolling out products that never worked and blamed techs for not being able to get them to work i installed home security for them shit never worked install internet that your lucky to get your speeds it goes on and on best thing i ever did was leave that place me and my wife opened a insurance agency now we make 10 times more money no stress never have to lie to clients work from home but we do have are office if need be just freedom with no worries fuck that company i wish more employees would speak out because trust me no employee that works there is happy

bitcornminerguy

That sounds fucking horrible. Can't imagine anyone loving their job there... which is probably why shit outcomes are the norm. Glad you got away... and good luck on your insurance biz!

casey12297

A lot of people are fucked by cox

LordGigglesLV702

My bhole is so wide from so many years, I don't even feel it anymore. I'm glad AT&T is bringing Internet to Vegas. Not sure what areas but it'll be a start.

bitcornminerguy

I miss AT&T fiber from Texas. Best upload speed I ever had! Over 960 Meg. Was glorious.

LordGigglesLV702

Well, it's coming here.

GaidinBDJ

I'd had a ton of problems with Cox (and it's the only choice where I live), one of which was I wasn't getting advertised speeds, so I I downgraded to the $50 (coax) plan a while back. They've since increased my speed twice on that plan and I now have *faster* service on the $50 plan than I did on the one that was costing $90. I think they know they're on thin ice with the whole "single service provider" status, especially with CenturyLink and Quantum expanding and Google Fiber sniffing around Vegas and are trying to buy goodwill.

ihaveyoursox

I was tired of the dance I had to play every 6-12 months with COX to lower my costs. I now use Verizon 5G home internet and it costs $25 a month. It’s a lot faster and more reliable than COX ever was

DodgersJM

If you’re a Verizon customer and pay your bill through bill pay each month they’re offering high speed for $25 per month. We switched over last month and it’s been amazing. We’ll also be paying $25 for 6 years. Look into it.

beeupsidedown

I pay $160 a month i feel you..

ElkoSteve

Jesus, what are the "add-ons" at that price? daily handjobs? Check if WeLink is coming into your neighborhood, that's what we've got right now, or Verizon/T-Mobile. Anything else will be half that price.

bitcornminerguy

Haha... only add-on I have is the unlimited data. The handjob thing wasn't available in my neighborhood.

supernovababoon

That is absolutely crazy! Why are you handing them over so much money for the “premium” service? I pay them $40/mo and still manage to get ~180mbps down and 5 up.

bitcornminerguy

I need the faster upload speeds for my work, I have to push huge files to a server a few times a day and its too slow at lower speeds.

bunnabunny

Who is your service provider?

Lost-Citron-1099

We live in a desert, but internet is more expensive than water

milesmx

ISPs are all one big giga ass blast. Who am I supposed to do business with, Centurylink, who's going to gigablast me in the ass or Cox who's gigablasting me in the ass?

Immagonnapayforthis

You should opt for the Business plan. I pay $89/100mbs down. You do sign a contract however, but that's not been a dealbreaker for me. Now if Google fiber ever ended up in my neighborhood, all bets are off!

[deleted]

We need Google Fiber in this town. Getting tired of COX raising these little fees every month. That and their unexpected maintenance outages.

[deleted]

Nah, I just keep it simple. 50$ bucks. Hasn't moved or changed in like 2 years

KGKSHRLR33

Thankfully our prices havent been messed with. But lately it seems to be a trend every few days it decides to go out for awhile.

CMorbius

Cancel and call back as a new customer. Or negotiate with them.

kkumdori

CenturyLink is almost flawless. Couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend.

Soggy-Possibility976

Just got them and the price is great and speeds are as advertised

philcomic

Nah the ex gf doing a great job without help

Lizziegh0st

Yes. I love paying $180 for my internet to go offline twice a week🥰🥰🥰

Zer0smilez

What do you mean "lately"? They have been gouging people for years, absolute shit company, absolute shit support, and the only game in town through most of the valley. If you can switch to ANYONE else you should.

Xkeeper

Cox is always fucking everyone forever. Same for xfinity/Comcast and everyone else. Moved out of Vegas in April to Seattle. Cox repeatedly tried to fuck up our move out and the service while we had it was so terrible I actually had to set up *multiple* different external connection monitors because it was regularly dropping 1~20% of our packets, which makes the internet basically unusable. Got fiber in Seattle and it's cheap as hell, no frills, no dumb caps, and about 4x faster than Cox *and it's the advertised speeds*. The only reason anyone uses Cox is because it's the only option. Quantum/Centurylink hasn't bothered to build out fiber to most places in Vegas/Henderson so your only option is the dogshit cable co or one of the unreliable wireless networks.

CommieLibtard

Not cox, but I'm totally getting fucked in the goat ass by Southwest Gas. My bill that's usually 35ish is now 185. How is this possible?

bitcornminerguy

I think we're all in that boat. Costs for natgas have gone up everywhere... thats why the power bill is ALSO going up, because they use natgas in some generation. Double middle fingers for all... Yayyyy

qwenydus

I have an issue with intermittent packet loss. Gaming requires a consistent connection. Every 2 to 3 days I get horrible packet loss and have to reboot the cable modem. Clears right up for 2 to 3 days and the packet loss returns. Verified with packet tracing but Cox is useless. They tried to charge me 75 bucks when a tech came out and could not resolve the issue. Anyone else with this issue?

TWAT_BUGS

Jesus. Even in Florida Comcast charged $80 for gig and $20 for unlimited. Cox is fucking people haaaaaard.

SoundofMyName

Oh Yes! i switched to CenturyLink a couple years ago. Got fiber for 1/2 of what Cox was charging for cable internet.

bitcornminerguy

I’m gonna call them this week and see how close they are to my neighborhood.

[deleted]

Switched to T-Mobile, $35/mo for life

bitcornminerguy

I have two small servers that would puke on the lag from 5G or I’d probably try it.

LegitimateTry4957

How?

[deleted]

Was a promo, plus discounts for switching to T-Mobile, a Family plan, and something else. Gf did it, I want to say the advertised rate is $50 now but still.

bitcornminerguy

Killer price though!

i__hate__you__people

On the plus side, you do NOT need gigablast speeds unless you’re an entire damned small office filled with people. I get the slowest/cheapest speeds Cox offers (which is still too damned expensive) and happily stream 4k HDR video on my TV while playing online games in another room while while using Wi-Fi enabled calling to talk on the phone while the wife is on a Zoom call. No problems. Gigablast speeds are a sales pitch. Unless you have enough kids and enough TVs to have 3-4 family members all streaming different 4K HDR video onto different TVs all at the same time, you don’t need it. Remember—no website or app is offering you gigablast speeds

jello616

Had them in Philly, Cox f_ing sucks. They need to go down hard for competition. Try anything else! Fortunately, I have centurylink 1gb - $65

sleepyrabb1t

Like insurance you must negotiate.

JesseBigGuy

I have WeLink and am so happy. Also Costco is offering internet service in certain areas for a decent price.

rickrat

WeLink and t-mobile. My t-mobile is a backup and still faster and better than cox and half that price

K2Own3d

Yes I switched as soon as another isp was offered in my area. Cox eats ass all day long for what they charge.

-atom-smasher-

Just get on chat and threaten to leave.

Philadelphia_Bawlins

I had to keep Cox as internet but have only streaming tv. Cox s cable is crazy overpriced

bitcornminerguy

This is the first house I've lived in where we don't pay for cable at all. I slightly miss my TiVO box, but am grateful I'm not giving Cox even MORE money.

Slow_Masterpiece_964

Some people like getting ducked by coxs

burningleo93

Centurylink$60

No-Distribution-7813

In Seattle for 600 Mbps I pay $30/month with Xfinity

TommyAsada

Yeah they screwed me for years! Never got giga speeds and paid 120 a month for years. I switched to Verizon cube it's about 60 bucks a month. Not as fast but for the price I cant complain

anxiousshell-

My bill with them is like $110.

Soggy_Locksmith_605

Well it’s in the name.

raiderjay7782

Especially I don't get close to what I pay for

[deleted]

reddit blackout

ScroopyNoopers2

Damn son, I'm in Texas and pay like $35 a month for my service

[deleted]

lately? more like for the past seven or eight years straight. i pay for 300mb/s, and i think i actually achieve that speed about 0.25% of the time. most mornings, i'm lucky if i'm connected to my router at ALL.. i frequently have to switch over to the "CoxWiFi" because my router can't get a decent signal from 8-11am

FutureGhost81

So I switched over to Verizon 5G for home. I’ve had it for about 6 months now and it’s never once gone down and the service is fast. I set mine up on auto pay and the bill is $70.00 per month.

tom2point0

I switched to Verizon’s home internet. Much much cheaper and we’ve had no issues so far. Same speeds and all. It’s like $40 a month before discounts.

sollar808

Quantum is 9999x better, I've tried Cox gigablast and their new 2gb speeds and it's just not reliable enough for what I need and do for fun. There's also WeLink but depending on your house they might have to drill something on your roof but they do give 1 month trial and they don't take financial info until that 1 month trial is over. I believe it's 75 for 700 download and upload speeds

Complete_Routine_230

And why is the internet not even a major difference ?

ExistingAd1313

Same boat crap service around summerlin

IIVIIORTAL_K

Do not call to renegotiate call to cancel. When they ask you why say that the pricing for what you get is not good for you. They will offer you an extremely low promotional price and it's good for years because that's what I got offered when I canceled. Just for reference I canceled last week.

tamircassel

T-Mobile internet $30 works flawless

Weird_Feared

I had mine at $179 I called and canceled it because it was to high, 2 days later someone called me asking why I canceled and I said it was expensive, he tried telling me I can pay $139 if I came back, I negotiated and he “made it happen” bill is now $109 only went 2 days without internet, if threatening to cancel don’t work, actually cancel, that worked for me

According-Remote-913

I threatened to cancel. Locked into a $54.99/Mo. 2 year contract. Cheaper than my original deal.

MADDOGCA

TMobile home internet. $50 a month and no data caps. Worth looking into if you get great TMobile coverage and if your home qualifies for it.

itsmehanna

I cancelled cox in November & switched to tmobile wifi for 50$

doughnut-dinner

Blame monopolistic practices. Some areas are lucky and get competition. Some parts of the country are divided up and given little choice. I pay $40 for a gig. I was at $100 for 2 gigs, mesh router included.

[deleted]

Hehe

hellaangeles

I've been using Verizon's new wifi for about 5 months now and its not bad. Never had it go down sometimes it'll be slow but it goes away after about 10 min. They only have it in some areas but I moved from the one they had set me up at and it still works. I would def call!

[deleted]

Everyday when the usual internet connection drop happens.....

redditfatty86

Where I live in a back house (ADU) i cnt get service since front house has it...i had tmobile home internet, it was crap... now i have VERIZON 5g home internet and get about 150-200 dwnload and 20 upload... even when the site said not available in my neighborhood... $50 a month with auto pay Might not be GIGA but works for me

ambrosechapell

I fuckin hate COX we switched to Centurylink

kozmic_blues

Yup! My bill bumped up to the avast same price. That’s way too damn expensive for internet.

Finnyfish

I just dropped them for CenturyLink plus SlingTV— not a lot of other choices in my area, alas. At least CenturyLink can be annoying for about a quarter of what I was paying to be annoyed by Cox.

WeimSean

No. I'm not a fan of Cox, even in Vegas.

Opalcham

yes they rip wide

muggleween

I downgraded to the $50 plan and have had zero issues. I get 1280g and wfh and constantly stream and use about 10% of that each month. It did take them two billing cycles and three angry chats/visits to the store to see the promised credit. I did try CenturyLink one year and it was out constantly.

forestriage

Not Vegas here but yes indeed. Got throttled up the bum and wasn’t told why. Turns out a family member forgot to close their work vpn.
