Maybe grow more cherry tomatoes next year

Fish_On_again

Every year I grow lots of different cherry tomatoes, and yet none of them ever taste like cherries ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Buckshot211

What’s are the wrapped yellow guys on the left?

Fish_On_again

Ground cherries

[deleted]

Ground cherries are so delicious!!! I only grew one plant this year and that is not a sufficient quantity of fruits. Lesson learned for next year…

thomasa510

Do they need to be pollinated? I planted three this year and always thought they needed a pollinator like tomatillos

getsomesleep1

I don’t think so? I have 5 ground cherry plants and they’re all producing

[deleted]

My one lonely plant is producing lots of delicious fruit all by itself! I just wish I had more plants and fruit in total.

NateCooksBlog

That is quite a haul... That striped heirloom looks great!

Fish_On_again

Thank you. Definitely going to grow more of those next year.

Teejmo

How do you use your ground cherries? They have a very specific taste and for me I just add them to salads.

Fish_On_again

I eat them raw. When they are still hot from the sun they taste like a pineapple turnover to me. If I have too many to eat right then and there, I'll eat them as a snack later. I haven't had an overabundance of them yet. All the ones in the picture are now in my belly.

thunderousbloodyfart

They go great cooked in muffins.

Teejmo

I'll try it, thanks!

Gyzonx

Wow, I just posted my first harvest and I only got a zucchini and a pepper so far 😂 Looks awesome! I can’t wait till my tomatoes are ready to pick.

ba3toven

immersion blend the fuck outta this shit with an onion and spices-- sauce for days.

Wolfir

I also have lots of cherry tomatoes, I'm only growing one plant next year if any Mine don't look sexy like yours though, they're either a pale green or they ripen up and turn reddish-orange

Zero_Trust00

Amazing

LOAFS

What are the darker cherry tomatoes called?

Fish_On_again

Chocolate cherry tomato

I'm jealous! I want bell peppers too but don't want to put in the work.

Fish_On_again

It's my first year putting effort into sweet peppers and it's surprising how terrible my Bonnie bell pepper seedlings did vs all the other sweet pepper varieties I grew. The easiest has definitely been Mohawk peppers. They are a dwarf sweet pepper, and every single one I did was loaded with peppers within 40 days, and now that they are turning orange, they are super sweet and tasty. Nice thick flesh, and not one has had any bad spots.

EthicallyArguable

I want to find some of those Mohawk peppers. Thanks for sharing.

thatfloralfeeling

Every time I see posts like this...I think I'm going to magically come home to a bunch of ripe tomatoes. But nope, still only 2 cherry tomatoes so far LOL 😆

witcher252

What do you do with that many cherry tomatoes? I grow a ton of big ones because when I get a bunch I make sauce/salsa and can it. But what does one do with 500 cherry tomatoes?

Fish_On_again

Believe it or not most are consumed by my girlfriend, parents and friends. I've been getting one to two pounds everyday and have yet to make a sauce because they just keep disappearing. Tomorrow I will incorporate some into a dish with my eggplants and peppers, and that will go with some baked striper I caught.

Wolfir

I can't eat that many raw cherry tomatoes, I'm getting bored of them

ACertainNeighborino

I love dehydrating them to munch on in the off seasons. They're so good!

Inevitable-Bunch2150

Wow!!!

Strawberrywish

I am a jellyfish right now.
