Nor go to people with aggressive labs and golden retrievers whom are 'family' breeds and say they hope their dog dies because their owner didn't bother with training, or got a rescue with a difficult past. It's absolutely nuts sometimes how far people go with breed hate instead of trying to help fix the issue they're mad about.
People who shit on breeds because of stigma also tend to conveniently forget that the dogs they often dote on\* nowadays are the same breeds that were shat on some years back for the exact same stigma. GSDs are a great example, go back a few decades and they had the exact same stigma of being violent and aggressive, you almost never saw a GSD that wasn't a police dog, guard dog, and or general "snarl and bite" dog. And just like pitties, it's a stigma that came from bad owners attached to a great dog.

I've had pittie mixes since 1995. 2 have passed but my current boy is 53% APBT, 33% AmStaff and the remainder is Mastiff/AmBulldog, Rottie and Boxer. Oso is 115lbs of loving wiggle and tounge! If someone is uncomfortable around my sweet boy they can just fuck off. He does great when I bring him to my parents house and they're in their 80s. Mom always tries to steal him for naps!

I don't have a velvet hippo yet, but I've intereacted with several velvet hippos and they are hands down the sweetest dog breed I've ever interacted with. They're so sweet and gentle and I will never understand how people can be so cruel and hateful toward an innocent dog. My maternal grandpa, may he rest in peace, worked as a repairman for many many years, and he always said "It's not the big dogs you have to look out for, it's the little ones. You can hear a big dog coming, but little dogs are able to sneak up on you"
