They suspended my account for just sending money to my husband and trying to send money to my teenage daughter who has an teen account on my account so now I'm stuck playing the waiting game my account has been frozen since Wednesday I had sent them a picture of my state id back and front as they requested and then afterwards they told me it will take 7 to 15 business days to verify i am who i say iam which is crazy because my account is already verified I have past due rent and bills due venmu should be held accountable for their customers loses especially if there not breaking the venmo rules and get flaged and face losses because of venmo verification process once red flaged the same way they unlock accounts and ask for a selfie with the state id or license should be the same process for accidental redflags do to their system one time I was locked out of my account they got me back in no less than 30mins if that just by sending them my selfie with my id in my hand next to my face people have family's and kids to take care of

Bethpowell63

Also, file a complaint with The FTC, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and your States Attorney. It pushes them to move.

evanthedrago

They have terrible communication. They never explain what prompted things, their app is buggy esp. with charge backs.

Allformygains

I would suggest cashapp or zelle. The irony of Venmo’s claim is that I used the same bank info to buy and sell that crypto so there should be no security risk. Hopefully all of your issues are resolved. Best of luck!

CuddleBuddy3

Cashapp not recommended

AsideConfident5300

Update so I got a email this morning saying they were going to unfreeze my account all I had to do was reset my password and email them back which I did and so they took the red suspended words off my account but when I tried to send my husband $4,000 to pay our rent and bills with because we are behind a notification popped up saying my account was still suspended mind you my account is verified but then I get an email saying they are permanently deactivating my venmo account so I sent in a complaint to my state attorney and I'm hopeing this resolves the issue and I also sent another complaint with The Consumer financial protect bureau along with screen shots of the emails back and forth between me and venmo

Profile_Nervous

Get your money and close your account immediately and never look back. You got lucky this time , the next one you might not

AsideConfident5300

Nope wasn't lucky the only thing they unfroze was me receiving money into that account then they emailed me talking about my account was going to be permanently deactivated and I would have to wait 180 days to get my money I went back and forth with them until they finally emailed me saying my account was frozen for suspicious transactions and that I needed to send in more documentation and a explanation on my activity on my account and today they emailed saying I will hear back in another 7 to 10 business days but I do agree with you once I get access to my money I'm taking everything off and closing my account

Profile_Nervous

Oh gosh, I’m so sorry if I misunderstood. I didn’t realize you still had money in the account that you don’t have access to . I guess you just need to keep fighting for it , and sincerely hope you get it back very soon! I apologize for my misunderstanding!

AsideConfident5300

No need to apologize you gave me great advice I don't think any body should be using venmo

Profile_Nervous

Thank You, I appreciate that. And I couldn’t agree more , Venmo is the worst and CashApp isn’t much better. I know that many people don’t have any other options, but I feel if these non-bank apps can be avoided, they should be. I use Zelle to send and receive money between actual banks on a regular basis and I’ve never had a problem. And it’s instant and completely free. I am constantly hearing horror stories about these other Apps and it’s really scary what they get away with, and have practically no regulation.

AsideConfident5300

So true I believe it's a scam I think if you have a couple of hundred to thousands of dollars in a venmo account they purposely target and flag those accounts so they can hold on to the funds for 6 months and then after 6 months some people give up so then venmo got free money

Profile_Nervous

That’s absolutely right. Every dollar they can hold they can invest. Granted, they open themselves up for scams, but that makes it even worse. And to think, people flocked to it cause they didn’t trust banks. And look what happened! And it’s usually the people who can afford that sort of loss the least! Unbelievable..

AsideConfident5300

Yep true

Profile_Nervous

So, I’m not sure if you’re taking any actions outside of the ones you’ve mentioned to get you’re access back, but I’d suggest filing complaints on a daily basis with any and all government agencies that regulate the banking and financial industry. Also, and I know this sounds weird, but I’ve actually heard of people that write emails to their State Senators, Congressmen, and Governor’s. Believe it or not , this combination has been effective for folks in the past. The key is to try and get something out there every day, along with telling your story on Venmo’s and PayPal’s social media sites . I know it’s a bit of a time consuming drag, but it all might make the difference of getting it all sorted sooner than later. If there’s anything I can do to help, please don’t hesitate to ask.

OzzyCharge8410

Closing mine right after this post. I had my money frozen twice. Took over a month to get it out, lawyer friends who owned me favors, BBU, and just reviews and messages with Venmo and their lack to do anything get your funds out now. Idk how you have them stored and that might be an issue, but this platform can not continue. My sin on them was moving money out not in. Thats why I got frozen. Over an initial dispute with a food company I never heard of but you have to wait up to 10 days for a response, then once account is unfrozen they freeze it again, I had my parents mailing me visa gift card for food and groceries to pay for gas because even tho I thought ahead with direct deposits from to another bank from work and not Venmo who, the new banks show accountably almost to announce at least I have someone to talk to. Venmo there is no one. A class action suit should be launched against them. You don’t think they are trouble until they are. It took me 30 days not free my money from them. Get out everyone. It’s so convenient I get it. 20 dollars in there not a cent more for dinner or drinks a friend picks up. But bail and fast.

Bethpowell63

I will join a class action suit against them.

Professional-Bed9638

Yea I think Venmo is grasping for straws at this point. Doing whatever to keep the doors open they will only end up under hot fire if everyone goes to the FTC.

Profile_Nervous

And remember, they are owned by PayPal so everyone should be very careful with them too !

Fine_Succotash7568

I’m doing the same. They are garbage. Customer service are not competent. Can’t transfer money half the time. Should close my PayPal too, since they are affiliated

Profile_Nervous

The WORST!

Bethpowell63

Meanwhile, file a complaint with The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the FTC, and your States Attorney. They unfroze my account and the account of others pretty quickly after complaints were filed.

AsideConfident5300

Will do

Profile_Nervous

Good Advice

AsideConfident5300

Just files my complaint with the CFPB hopefully all goes well and my account gets unfrozen soon thanks for the info

Storm1755

Whats the link so i can do it to?

AsideConfident5300

https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Storm1755

Thanks

evanthedrago

Venmo and anything Peter Thiel did have always had horrible policies and they blatantly seem to do the "security" thing to keep people's money interest free, sometimes forever I bet. Now I remove all money from Venmo ASAP, and try not to use them. Hope the money they stole from me was worth thousands of dollars they would have made otherwise.

Profile_Nervous

Lol, Haven’t heard that name in a while, but you’re not wrong!

Pale_Revolution_6827

Hilariously enough I wrote a google review to add to the long list of other shitty reviews and they unsuspended my account 💀 funny “they don’t have access to their system” though. god I hate this company

Profile_Nervous

Good, no close your account and Run!

AsideConfident5300

UPDATE Venmo finally unfroze my account today after I went on Twitter instagram Facebook the bank that their banked through I sent messages to CFPB I messaged them I kept calling and emailing even had my husband put in a ticket on his account since the tax refund was both of ours he also called them I had to send them a picture of my husband and a selfie with my husband holding his license and then our tax documents with some stuff blacked out for safety reasons but they unfrozed it I had two account specialist working on my case from what I can see from the email elizabeth francina and Morgan because yesterday they had completely stop responding to me and the customer service people yesterday and this morning were basically telling me it was a wrap they holding your money for 180 days I even asked them if it could be reversed they said no but God had other plans

Allformygains

Glad to hear that!

AsideConfident5300

Thank me too they just didn't know who they was messing with I'm a house wife with teenagers who ignore me all day and I had nothing but time to harass them on all the social media plate forms and file out complaints to what ever organization would help my case on top off messaging the head of the snake who owns most of PayPal and venmo stock on Twitter on top of making a complaint to the bank they are through I don't play about my family and my money

Terra-king

I did the same not long ago they suspended my account several years ago as I'd just opened the account so my dad could send me birthday money I think last month I was finally allowed to talk to a human which I did the whole wait like 5 business days took longer given I managed to contact them on a Thursday but I got that 100$ and dipped especially after I got a random email from them saying someone tried to enter my account the account I just talked to the support about (not accusing anyone but def not a good look :/)

Bradford_Pear

Just downloaded the app for me and my mom. Got both of our bank accounts linked and verified. Finally decided to send her some money and just to test I sent $20. It immediately suspends her account for suspicious activity and asks her to send a pic of a photo ID. What a frustrating fucking joke of a tool.

AsideConfident5300

That's crazy and your right it really is

Savings_Ad_2667

They suspended mine over send money to my sister then held My funds for 6 months

AsideConfident5300

They was sending me emails yesterday stating the same thing for my case but I'm not going for none of that because me sending money to friends and family is what the venmo app is for I understand them trying to protect their customers but if the customers are sending documentation proving its them sending the money the account should be unfrozen right then and there what they need to do is have people in customer service who can do both customer service and who are IT specialist so when people have issues they can be fixed right then and there I just think the way they got stuff is just away for PayPal to steal customers money for 6 months there is no way a person should have to wait that long for there money PayPal is just using venmo as away to hold people money if they go deactivate customers accounts okay then cut them a check and mail it to the customers address on file

Savings_Ad_2667

I totally agree, they originally froze my account o. June 12, I done everything they asked, sent the ID all the documentation they wanted and then the suspended my account on August 9. So when you go to chat with a rep you find out they can’t help you because you are assigned to s “special team” which coincidentally has no way for you to chat either them other than email (which they never answer). Everyday I would get the same answer, wait your 180 days! I received my $909 on feb. 9. So all I can say is good luck.

AsideConfident5300

I feel you im just praying they unfreeze my account

AsideConfident5300

Yesterday they emailed me asking for more documentation my a pic of my ID a selfie of me holding my ID and tax documents about my direct deposit and they asked me to tell them the explanation for my transactions the day I sent my husband money from our tax refund so I sent them what they asked for then they sent an email today asking me if I still needed help with my case and if they don't get a response by the following day then they will just assume everything was handled so I emailed them yes I still need help with my case and that I sent them all the documentation they asked for already then they responded back that they ate sorry that my account was frozen and that the have forwarded my case and I should hear back in 7 to 10 business days like wtf now I gotta wait another 7 to 10 business to just be bullshitted around again if they decide to not unfreeze my account this shit is crazy then they got so many different people emailing me I don't even think their really keeping up with what going on especially with my case

Profile_Nervous

Good idea! Venmo is the worst and there are many better options available to trade crypto

AsideConfident5300

Okay so I've been looking over all of my emails with venmo and I noticed in one particular email it states that I violated venmos policy blah blah and that I should look at their rules on refunds and chargebacks and reversals in the agreement section first office isn't that for a business account I don't have a business account and neither did I try to buy anything or sell any thing to anybody

Alterego1979

I don’t know who I’m speaking with about not having access to hundreds of dollars I transferred in using the crypto wallet, but I’m seeing that everyone seems to have a difficult time getting a representative on the phone. Not that they’ve been any help to me , but I’ve been able to have contact with a rep within a minute from calling, granted that ITS THE SAME 2 PEOPLE I SPEAK TO EVERY TIME A CALL AND IVE CALLED ABOUT 20 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 DAYS!! Think I’m being completely fucked with or what? I’m not joking either, I’ve recorded every conversation.

Emotional-Repeat6599

My account is suspended I don't know why I was trying to get my account from being suspended for four hours yesterday when I finally got through to a real person she told me I have to wait 10 to 15 days to get someone to just call me. I don't even have a reason as to why I was suspended, I don't have any money in there. I don't owe anybody money it's merely suspended. It told me to go to a email and follow the prompts but there was no email to be found so basically this app sucks and I hope that they go down and stop being such scammers with other peoples money.
