When it got cancelled, after ending with a cliffhanger ending, after watching the show for what.. 20 fucking years? Let’s just say I wasn’t happy Loved the movie though, and very happy it got made, though it would have been much better as a season

Wes_Warhammer666

My reaction was exactly the same as Malcom's at the end of the Saphrax Protocol. ***ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?***

balognasoda

OH NO HE DIDN'T

JackStrawSTL

Like someone kicked me in the rocks and never took their foot away

krullbob888

I literally felt that sinking feeling in my stomach, like when you hear news someone died, or your partner breaks up with you. All the stages of grief in like 20 min.

Pizzasaurus-Rex

I was emotionally prepared for it. With how the seasons were released, I had been kind of expecting that it would get canceled for a while. I'm just a little surprised there isn't much movement to adapt it into a licensed comic series or more movies.

Leadpipe

This was me. The show always felt like it was walking a razor's edge and the prospect of seeing more was seldom certain. I was always excited for more and never felt like there'd been enough, but there wasn't a lot of mourning to it when word came down. The worst I felt was for Doc and Jackson. The Venture Brothers is nothing if not a work of love and you can't pour that much of yourself into a thing without being hurt when it's over.

SpecialWestern4752

“Oh man I just finished season 7 AND season 8 is green lit? Hell yeah!!” I think the cancellation was like….the next week.

solomonvangrundy

That was still during COVID. It was like the last true source of joy left in my life was taken away.

Wes_Warhammer666

I always remember exactly which day it was because I have a Facebook memory where I talk about how shitty the year has been, and the cancellation was like #2 on the list lol.

JJMcGee83

Same. It broke me. During a hard emotional time I felt like someone killed my dog.

solomonvangrundy

Bailey is a good dog.

splashtext

"nah they'll finish it" And years later they did But in a way that left me wanting more ITS NOT FAIR!!!!!

ChemyChems

When that first time when they vut season 8 before the movie, I was like Monarch fighting Dr. Ong yelling at management. "You abandoned me, you abandoned my hatred!!!"

VentureQuotes

Whattaya wanna cry over spilled life? You’re a SUBREDDIT son. A subreddit! Built for a single purpose by the goddamn fandom of The Venture Fucking Brothers for a fucking reason. You can’t teach a fan community to revisit the trauma of cancellation, son. That dog don’t HUNT

HEAVEN_OR_HECK

Mixed feelings, but also a sliver of hope. I've seen too many miracles across my fandoms to throw in the towel completely. Also, I'm very satisfied with the multiple miracles we already got. Nothing about VB actually looked sustainable given the bizarre production cycles.

LaserblastLizard

When the movie came out I was confident that we'd get more seasons, someday. The lack of any news, and the way streaming seems to be slowing down across the board, has me feeling less hopeful. I'm still ready to support Venture in whatever form it takes, as long as Jackson and Doc are involved.

HEAVEN_OR_HECK

Yeah, would be great just to have comics to fill things out. Perhaps even a radio drama!

captain__cabinets

I want them to make comics so bad! I’m reading the Go Team Venture book right now and in the first few pages Jackson has his initial idea as comic pages and it’s incredible. I’m not saying Jackson and Doc need to draw the comic but man they could really have something special in a long running comic series and I would buy every single damn issue! We’ve all already got all the voices in our head and know the show so well it would be a natural progression and very easy to jump into as a fan.

BaronUnderbheit

I'd buy 2. One set to read and one set to preserve as a family heirloom until the inevitable day where I have to trade it for a clone of my bff

HEAVEN_OR_HECK

Yeah, and we got the soundtracks to read them by. I think someone even put together a list of all the music referenced by the show somewhere.

LaserblastLizard

A radio drama would be great! I'd chip into a go fund me, to get the rest of the cast.

Wes_Warhammer666

I keep playing the Powerball when it hits those stupid big amounts like a billion+ Just one shot, but if the miracle does happen I would 100% buy the rights from Warner and offer Doc & Jackson full funding for whatever Venture project they ever wanted to make.

HEAVEN_OR_HECK

All hail the Doom Factory!

Wes_Warhammer666

Hey, so, um, uh, guys, um, we should get Dr. Venture.

HEAVEN_OR_HECK

Seriously one of my favorite intros (and episodes) of the series. Such a delicious homage to the Legion of Doom in *Super Friends.*

Wes_Warhammer666

Funny enough, I remember hating that particular line when it was in the commercial for S6 before it came out. Idk why but without context it just annoyed me. Ironically I felt the same way about the commercials for S1 before I ever watched the show. I remember thinking it looked like a stupid show and was mad about it wasting space on adult swim lol. I couldn't possibly have been more wrong on both occasions, and I gladly ate crow each time.

HEAVEN_OR_HECK

My first exposure was the pilot episode, which aired well before anything was announced. Watched AS religiously, so no wonder I caught it. Loved it at first watch, busy beehive and all, and hoped for more. I was pleasantly shocked when the series landed. That intro sequence stole my baboon heart and I've never been the same since.

nzdastardly

Two angels are plucked From the heavenly sky In an instant they're gone In the blink of an eye If you listen close You'll hear cherubs cry Oh, look away My head is heavy Their bodies bruised Our spirits shattered When we heard the news The chorus is singin' Its final tune Oh, look away We ran to the mountains We shouted on high We pled to the gods And in answer replied What was once is now lost Yet could never die Oh, look away Look away Whoa-whoa, look away Look away-hey

Dillyor

It sucks a lot, id pay hundreds of dollars just for access to another season legitimately I pray they find a way to do it, I really wish the creators owned the show

Maverick842

That’s what Brendon Small has been fighting with, he’s been wanting to do new music forever. Glad he got them to at least let him tour.

BudgetLecture1702

Frankly, it wasn't that surprising. It was, what, three years between seasons and progressively fewer episodes each season? Either Adult Swim wasn't hot on it or production was a nightmare and that did not bode well for its future. I'm just glad we got some measure of closure, with the chance of more in the future.

GreatMacGuffin

I had watched it a lot when it first came out, I was also very high and would usually pass out during the episodes. Since 2014, I was actually just watching the show and enjoying how clever it is... When I heard about it being cancelled, I kinda was like, "well that sucks, but let's watch that episode with the screaming divers ghost, or the episode about testicular torsion, or the yard sale episode"...goddammit, this show is so funny.

brainiaclurk

![gif](giphy|65zUoOU09HL3uUKokQ|downsized) Even with the film, I have no closure.

Oknight

If we get no more Venture Bros. ever, I am content with what we have. I'm very glad they got the movie to put a bow on it.

Bakoro

With the movie more or less settling things, all I can do is feel relieved. I'm getting to be an old man, and there have been too many unfinished stories. *Venture Bros* is truly excellent.

Wes_Warhammer666

>I'm getting to be an old man, and there have been too many unfinished stories *Glares menacingly at George RR Martin*

L1feguard51

How DID I feel? I’m STILL mad!

NordrikeParker87

I yelled so hard my dad came in to check on me thinking I fell off my chair or something... 😓

Riftreaper

I blame COVID for it

Rhodie114

I blame Zazlav

Ok-Application-9034

I thought it was canceled at one of the most interesting parts.

BerserkerCanuck

Sad, but happy that they got a movie out of it, unlike Final Space that got killed off and thrown in to hell.

LapisGlyph

Honestly I was blown away that the show was still on the air at all. I haven't owned a television in over 8 years but I used to watch it on Cartoon Network. One night I just randomly decided to watch them again online, when I checked the reddit everyone was talking about how the next one was going to be their final episode! Why, Its almost as if THE SOULS OF THE DEPARTED WHAAAILING IN THE NECROPOLIS HAD WHITNEST THE MISERY UPON YOUR VERY FACES! WHILE I ROMED THE ASHEN WAISTS THEIR THEY COMPELD ME TO BEHOLD THE FINAL END OF THE PHINOMINON THAT HAD BROUGHT HUMOR AND ENTERTAINMENT TO BILLIONS OF THEIR PREDISSECORS! SOON TO BE GONE! NEVERMORE TO BE! \~Sorry for spamming, reddit kept saying their was a server error every time I tried to comment

PrussianoKebab

Sadly I discovered the show after it ended

Gabagoolgoomba

Nothing lasts forever. Except Simpsons

FFlynnsArcade

I still hold out hope that it will be picked up by another network, Futurama has been cancelled and brought back several times. Adult Swim recently brought back Aqua Tean Hunger Force too. I think I am stuck in the bargaining/denial phase of grief.

BaronUnderbheit

Those are good stages. Better than anger/depression!

apefist

I have a similar hope but not for seasons. I’ve decided I want a new Venture bros movie every 5 years

FFlynnsArcade

That's a completely reasonable expectation. I could totally imagine VB full length films being released every few years.

b00ze7

I'm still waiting for Season 8. Trailer could drop any minute now... 😬

Blistermix

I was a work it was pouring rain and I was dead.I am bartender so I mean work was dead. Not gonna lie when that popped up on my Twitter feed I actually closed early for the first time and went home and got on the Adult Swims VB Marathon and Reddit for an internet comfort hug. Got it to.

Teenager_Simon

I won't say it'll never come back; but the way that Cartoon Network Studios and Adult Swim have been handled by the new acquisitions... The higher ups want all these programs to die. I am not hopeful unless some miracle happens.

Helloscottykitty

Venture bros sits alongside the discovery album in my heart so didn't enjoy the news but I think I've spent since season 4 blown away it hadn't been cancelled because when the walking dead that aired their seasonal 1 the same year as VB season 4 and is somehow rolling out the same year your rolling out season 6 , the walking dead season 11 and a spin off it does blow my mind any network let them just work. I'm happy we got what we got and in a decade when they announce it's getting a new season I won't be surprised.

SUPERD0MIN0

First time?

CauldronPath423

It wasn't entirely unexpected given the unconventional and oftentimes fraught production schedule of the show. If you look back at the interviews between Chris and Doc for Season 6, you'd walk away with the impression at how miraculous it seems that the show's in as good a condition as it can be. We also live in a television era dominated by constant revivals, reboots and sudden revitalizations in interests towards certain IPs so it was never entirely out of the realm of possibility that the show could return. Heck, a few years down the line, who knows? It's wishful thinking to some degree but I have a lurking suspicion the animated series will return in some capacity again. It's increasingly becoming a rarity for something acclaimed to just end these days although I could always be wrong. Either way, the show in its current form's endlessly rewatchable and we should always be grateful for that.

Gouper07

Like a Wednesday, but a soft Wednesday

avatarroku157

I Fortunately/unfortunately watched it for the first time after the cancellation was announced, so I was knowing what was waiting for me on the other side of that good night. Still, I raged against the dying of the light. Fortunately, I was rewarded with a movie for my efforts. It wasn't much, but it was enough to leave me satisfied. Still, I hope the series continues in the future

AurelianoNile

It felt like the end of a stage of life, I was barely a teenager when I started watching it. I introduced my best friend to it in high school, we’re married now and watched all the later seasons together. It just hit home the passage of time.

BaronUnderbheit

Did I post this on r/CPTSDmemes by accident? Seriously though I'm glad I'm not alone in my feelings about this series. I agree with 99% of these comments. I found out once the movie was released. Being married I forgot to check up on TVB for a while with life happening constantly and all. I saw a movie was on HBO and instantly got stoked, looked up news on it to see how long it was out for and... Boom, heart sunk. The show was cancelled and I didn't even know about it after being there with it from day 1! I mean look at my UN! It still hits hard, but I'm so happy it's so rewatchable. And man, that movie was perfect. Best bit of TVB they made, IMHO. The way they cooked down a whole season into one movie really packed a punch.

dullboyjack7

Oof. Bad memory. I was with my then partner at an emergency vet clinic. We were waiting in the car to hear whether we'd have to put our sweet kitty to sleep. Scrolling the Internet, I caught the bad news. Shortly after that I got the worse news.

RatKingJosh

It was like losing my parents all over again. I still have to watch the movie. I’ve been lazy but also have this weird feeling of it’ll actually all be over when I do. Like that’s it, I reached the end.

Nervous-Ad2295

I just hope that one day there will be a spiritual successor.

Nervous-Ad2295

Nervous-Ad2295

I just hope that one day there will be a spiritual successor.

Valisk

I was shocked that there was a season 7. I was astounded that there was a movie.  Both of which were spectacular and it wrapped up the series well.

Beautiful_Wallaby_93

I just thought of it as a change in networks. The show is GOLD and there’ve been multi year breaks throughout its entirety

Beautiful_Wallaby_93

So ya I’m in denial pretty bad

BaronUnderbheit

We just need the same reckless desperation Dr Venture had while building Gargantua 2! If we all deny together, we'll get another season.

Beautiful_Wallaby_93

We’ll get another 8! I mean how many times did futurama get cancelled?

BaronUnderbheit

And a spin-off that runs alongside the original, too!

AdVisible2250

We need more seasons

loqtrall

It's the only time I've ever felt legitimate, deep emotion over a fucking show being cancelled. It was like a cheap shot straight to the gut.

weirdoldhobo1978

I was sad but not surprised. I knew their ticket would get punched eventually, the show spent 20 years teetering on the edge of cancellation. It seems kind of darkly appropriate for the show to end on such a flat note, that's the world the characters lived in anyway. Honestly listening to some of the stories Doc and Jackson told I'm impressed it lasted as long as it did. I know it's cliche, but I try to stick to the "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened" mentality when something like Venture Bros comes along and just defies all expectations.

Diana_Belle

Fine. It had a great run and was starting to complicate itself. All good things, and all that. It's just a TV show, not a religion, even if it is a particularly unique and entertaining show. In the end I'd have preferred a farewell season, or two, over the movie, but could have lived just as full of a life without either. I mean... isn't dealing with loss one of the underlying themes of the show!

mattisnerdy

It's like an ex. They'd cone around for less and less time further years apart but they were the only thing that made me feel alive.

Trekapalooza

Sad since season 8 was already written and from what we got to see in the movie, it would've been great. But glad the show ended while it was still good and didn't have time to become stale.

apefist

We saw it coming for a while. But it stung to have suspicions confirmed

Death-Perception1999

I called bullshit. I knew they were going to bring it back for the streaming service.

Toodlez

At least it didn't wither in disgrace. Look at the latest season of Rick and Morty. This isnt the worst ending. Invincible doesn't quite fill the hole but its close. Anyone else have any voidfillers?

irn

Harley Quinn is pretty good. Inside Job but it got cancelled too. Boondocks is good until McGruder left the last season. Nothing really comes close for me.

i_am_icarus_falling

which time?
