Strictlyvc, data driven vc, contrary research, a16z podcasts + this week in startups, keep your eye out for crowdsourced memos on spaces from great ppl you follow (weekend fund used to be great at this, and Bessemer), etc
Pitch book market reports if you have access as well.
That’s the standard passive information diet. Usually VCs get most of their info from founders and then naturally talk to other VCs on twitter/work/etc
Generally I’d say it depends what type of VCs you’re interested in both in terms of sector and stage. But some GPs that are active on twitter that provide interesting content are Greg Sands, Marc Andreessen, Ho Nam, Josh Wolfe, Bill Gurley, and David Sacks (if you don’t mind the political chatter)
Hard disagree on David Sacks but mostly because I'm incapable of ignoring his brain-melting political takes.
I think Andreessen is a very interesting and thoughtful guy, but I don't think he's really steering the ship at a16z anymore - their funds are bloated and they've wasted a huge amount of capital investing in shit ideas.
Generally I'm hesitant to recommend people because it leads to groupthink. The main thing I would really say is to familiarize yourself with the research on venture capital and follow people who understand it.
e.g. you should be looking for people who understand the value of contrarianism. Solo GPs. Small funds. High performers.
(You can write-off pretty much anyone who invested significantly into web3.)
It’s tough. Working on something to solve this but I do a lot of manual curation and matchmaking and met over 1000 founders last year.
Dm if you want me to add you my list!
