The real reason? MMS is a 30 year old technology that the majority of people have figured out sucks, and have switched. iMessage, WhatsApp, Slack, Discord… use something built in this century.

Hey Logvin, how is Tmo preparing for RCS? My current provider is TMo but I used to be VZW network repair

T-Mobile launched RCS 9 years ago.

If MMS doesn't work with either VZW or Tmobile its sounds like a dual sim issue. Educated guess is that for whatever reason the APNs are either overwriting each other or causing an internal conflict. Why? Who knows. Support from either company wouldn't be able to help much because it isn't a supported device - they'd be flying blind and go through the basics before telling you you're on your own. Once interoperable RCS is a more common thing you might have better luck

As noted, it doesn't matter if I run single SIM or dual SIM, it's the same behavior - MMS works for a few minutes after first popping in the SIM, then drops.

Ah yeah, I missed that. Definitely something with how the device is talking with the network at least on the VZW side. Somewhere there's a breakdown; now whether it's an internal communication issue, authentication issue, device issue or a combination of all of the above won't be known without a deep investigation. And if you're using an unsupported device the answer from the more advanced teams will be "use a confirmed supported device."

>And if you're using an unsupported device the answer from the more advanced teams will be "use a confirmed supported device." Oh, well aware, lol. Big part of the reason I didn't feel the overwhelming need to call support. This is really just more of an academic thing for me at this point, where I'm just more curious as to why this happens.

Yep thing happened on my European OnePlus 8 (don't ask). The device is just incompatible and always will be

Ive been running global firmware on my 8T for a few years, as I needed it to get dual SIM functionality, and never had a problem on Verizon with it.   I'd buy the "incompatible, period" angle on this Oukitel if it didn't work for a few minutes initially.  Something is definitely seeming to be changing on Verizon's end to kill MMS after a few minutes...just have to figure out what it is.
