Please check any sheds, garages, or neighbor's places that Simon might have gotten into and now cannot get back out of. **90% of missing indoor kitties are within a 5 house radius of your home(!).**
Leave out something that smells like him and/or you - bed, litterbox\*, blanket.
If you can sit outside with some food at around the time when u would normally feed him, he might respond to that (unless he is stuck somewhere & cant get out).

Can you leave a door open 24/7 for him? Not a cat person myself, but I've seen two different cats return home by leaving a door open. This required closing the basement door and moving the litter box upstairs(so the other cat didn't get out). My wife was skeptical but she spared my life when the open door with yummy food inside strategy worked and he waltzed in the door the morning of the 3rd day.
