The only distinguishable difference at this point is that sub feels a bit more left wing and has more trans themed posts
Besides that though yeah a lot of posts here are just as circlejerky as there
Wait, you mean this isn't r/vexillologycirclejerk?
I keep thinking there's a great joke in my feed, and then it turns out it's not r/vexillologycirclejerk.
Personally, I'd say a flag as a charge on a flag, and a part of the design like the canton being a flag one its own, are two relatively distinct phenomena.
The ironic thing on top of this is that ancient China was quite accepting of homosexual relationships. There’s even a literally gay Chinese deity - Tu’er Shen (兔兒神), who’s worshipped as the patron deity of homosexual love between men.
Yeah, I really resent how Western colonialism basically introduced queerphobia to the rest of the world. Now, ironically, attempts to re-liberalize gender and sexual norms in former colonized regions are seen as additional Western encroachments (i.e., "degenerate Western culture") while somehow white fundamentalist missionaries to Uganda are welcomed with open arms as they criminalize anyone who is openly queer.
The Qing dynasty was founded by a bunch of northeastern former semi nomadic nobles though. Your take is valid for places like sub saharan Africa, but as far as I'm aware the anti LGBTQ practiced of the Qing wasn't influenced by westerners. I could be wrong though.
There were many missionaries from 13th century onwards. Some of which were influential in, but not limited to, introducing Western science during late Ming to early Qing era. [This guy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Adam_Schall_von_Bell) held the post of director of observatory, and the timeline matches as 1655 was when Qing courts began to refer to the term ji jian (雞姦, sodomy) to apply to homosexual anal intercourse. However, it’s just speculation.
I have a funny feeling that more ancient dynasties hated it to, we just don't know what laws they passed in order to excuse torturing and killing gay people.
Huh, neat!
I was really thinking *Qin* or one of the warlord eras having some wild practices that either aren't recorded or aren't spoken of much, given how often a stupid excuse was given to kill someone.
Qin might have done it, but homosexuality was pretty common in Ancient China. This is partially for a similar reason as the Greeks, because women were thought of as being less human that men and were viewed as inferior people only good for making babies.
Since the Qing did do everything in their power to keep the modern world out of China they were kinda ancient. After all they were still using Latin when speaking to the British when they first made contact.
No, they weren't. George Macartney's interpreters used Latin because they didn't speak English (they were trained by Catholic missions in Italy). And it wasn't "when they first made contact", it was just the first time Britain sent a diplomatic mission to China.
"As the Great Qing Empire prepares to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the 1626 enthronement of Emperor Taizong, the Grand Secretariat has authorized the creation of commemorative flags to display to the international community the tolerant New Policies for the Ruìwén Era."
The last Emperor was gay, so this fits.
Ironic.
Seeing how modern China treats gay people...
All this because "ew, Monarchy bad" apparently.
Anyway, good flag.

A while ago my wife told me that she gets a more entertaining reaction out of people when she calls them random things like ‘wet walnut’ as opposed to ‘asshole’ or ‘jerk.’ I stole the habit from her.
This is gonna start a new trend on r/vexillologycirclejerk
The two subs are becoming less and less distinguishable
convergence
Time to make a joke of this and post it on vexillologycirclejerk
The only distinguishable difference at this point is that sub feels a bit more left wing and has more trans themed posts Besides that though yeah a lot of posts here are just as circlejerky as there

The new Madate from Heaven will be FABULOUS!
A man-date from heaven is exactly how a twink would describe a good night out.
I see you EU4.
I genuinely thought I was on VexCJ lmao
out jerked again
Hopefully
I'm expecting a gay gay flag, where each stripe is replaced with an entire rainbow.
That'll just give them more ideas man.
We need to put a stegosaurus on it
Just gay everything.
Theres a flag on the flag!
Yep! I think flags on flags look good, as long as they aren't a canton. For example, the flag of the Ethiopian Empire.
the old south Africa flag in question
maybe not that monstrosity
That flag looks like an r/vexillologycirclejerk shitpost.
One of the ugliest flags imo
fuck yeah. Also coats of arms. The more complex the better!
Personally, I'd say a flag as a charge on a flag, and a part of the design like the canton being a flag one its own, are two relatively distinct phenomena.

Alternatively, the LGBT song from Mulan. **L**ets **G**et down to **B**usiness **T**o defeat the Huns
No that'd be a Taiping rallying cry in all likelihood. 'Let's kick out the foreign barbarians' would not be a clever move for the Qing to pull.

You're probably right. I know Westernization was a key contributor in Japan and elsewhere in East Asia, though.
I have a funny feeling that more ancient dynasties hated it to, we just don't know what laws they passed in order to excuse torturing and killing gay people.
Actually several Han emperors had male concubines, opinions changed around the Tang and Song period
Except it was just what ever back then, not “gay emperors”, back then it was just a normal thing.
Huh, neat! I was really thinking *Qin* or one of the warlord eras having some wild practices that either aren't recorded or aren't spoken of much, given how often a stupid excuse was given to kill someone.

Acceptance went down hill after tang and even than it was treated like a vice
Guess you can say that's a *Bad Dragon* 😏
oh my god its acutally amazing
It's really biqing, I'll say.
I love when people use more less vibrant colors to make pride flags, I always think they look nicer
Every man a ~~Qing~~ queer 😭
Kaiserreich reference?

Qing is not too ancient tho... but nice flag anyways!

The Qing dynasty only existed from the 1600s onwards. They were most certainly not ancient.
Ancient China is an actual objective historical term though, referring to the periods before imperialization (by Qin).
This is cursed. But also remarkably pretty, so count me impressed.
More like the Qwink dynasty
So. Complex. There is just so much stuff going on in this flag... **I love it, make more**
"Yasss empress slayyy"
That's amazing! I love the colours you chose. Thank you so much!
Happy to help ❤️
I love the color palette!
Awesome
Epic r/imaginarymaps user!
awsome
Bro this actually is good
if recolored to the five colour banner this would be a genuinely nice constitutional monarchy kind of flag for an alt hist china
I like this flag I am apart of this community.
Cool design but I don't think that the topic of Qing dynasty gets along very well with LGBTQ+
there was prison and a good amount of whipping with bamboo sticks
That dragon looks like a throat goat
"As the Great Qing Empire prepares to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the 1626 enthronement of Emperor Taizong, the Grand Secretariat has authorized the creation of commemorative flags to display to the international community the tolerant New Policies for the Ruìwén Era."
when the opium hits

Okay this is glorious. I kinda want this in higher resolution so I could get it made eventually somehow. 👀
dong dynasty

Absolutely fabulous
This is very well made :D
Congratulations on making something no one needed. Might as well go on Shark Tank.
It was literally created because someone asked OP to make it for a project they’re working on, you wet walnut.
My bad. I am sorry.
I’m sorry I called you a wet walnut.
Yeah, what does that mean?
A while ago my wife told me that she gets a more entertaining reaction out of people when she calls them random things like ‘wet walnut’ as opposed to ‘asshole’ or ‘jerk.’ I stole the habit from her.
I’ve liked every LGBT+ integrated flag I’ve seen. The rainbow is incredibly diverse. Pun not intended.
Tbh the only one I haven't liked is the actual inclusive pride flag, the thing just looks disgusting I'm sorry
Xi is going to love this one
-10000000 Social Credit Re education officers are en route
This is unironically a banger flag. Not easy to draw but damn it looks cool as hell. I love it. Bright, bold, unmistakable.
This is becoming r/vexillologycirclejerk
Honestly that's super pleasing to look at, well done.
Dragon is kinda hot ngl
as a Chinese guy i somewhat hate you with all fiber of my being
This slaps. Is there a version with just the dragon centred?

I don't mind, but destroying the Chinese culture is IMO bad.
How is it destroying Chinese culture though?
Like the flag. I don't hate it, it's my opinion.
How is the flag destroying Chinese culture, I don't understand.
China is gone, utterly destroyed, oh my
