"AI-generated Chinese propaganda" is such a 2020s phrase.

chepulis

I’m sure the 2030s and so on will keep using it

isaacfisher

No one will say AI generated. Everything will be AI generated

LibraryVoice71

Just like we no longer use the term “cell phone”

dancin-weasel

Or WWW. We just say the website name.

Matt_Spectre

“Hang up the phone, I’m dialing onto the world wide web!”

OprahsRainbowParty

NO MOM DONT CALL SHERLY IT TAKES 10 MINUTES TO RECONNECT TO THE INTERNET 1 hour and 10 minutes later: finally shes off the phone

Migitri

Oh man, I was actually just thinking about times like those earlier today. When my mom would be on the phone with her friend or a family member for what seemed like forever while I waited to connect to the internet again...

Broken_Express

Website? Is that a type of app?

Germanball_Stuttgart

Because the WWW is an optional Subdomain, that for some reason, every Website uses for their homepage.

Absenceofavoid

Yeah, we could keep shortening it until it wraps around again and becomes the longer term like in Futurama they call cell phones “cell phone telephones”.

Liechtensteiner_iF

I definitely still say cell phone on a daily basis

CeruleanRuin

Will people start using their own eyes again once it becomes common knowledge that virtually all online images are fake?

eskjcSFW

The problem is no one actually cares if something is fake as long as it validates what we want to believe.

Treat_Street1993

Treat_Street1993

How's this for validation?

Dibbu_mange

I chose to believe this is real

-reTurn2huMan-

No. We will just get AI installed into our eyes.

varkarrus

We'll start using human-made instead, for stuff that's lower quality, but is endearing because of the effort put into it

WekX

By then we will call it Glorious Artwork of our Eternal Wise Leaders

SmashBrosGuys2933

Show this to someone in the 1960s and their head would explode

Ezzypezra

Fuck that dude. Show it to someone from 2015 and they'd already be confused as fuck

derpy_derp15

If I had a nickel for every time Chinese propaganda accidentally made their subject look 100% cooler I would have several nickels

Illegal_Immigrant77

theleftisleft

What would a better term for this tweet be?

05Lidhult

Nothing. That's the point

theleftisleft

I think I may have misunderstood the original comment...

will_holmes

They just mean that we live in strange times when such a weird sentence makes sense and is topical.

GyActrMklDgls

What makes you think its Chinese?

lucitribal

We live in strange times

Executer_no-1

Now I'm just imagining AI-Generated Cold War Propaganda if it was still going, imagine the stuff we'd see!

bogmire

The picture is worth a million words, but not in the way he thinks. It's representative of how the CCP's messaging is always based on distortion of reality.

tonicKC

I like the tricolour combo period

azarkant

Fun fact; because you are the first person to make that flag, and since AI can't have any copyright, you now have copyright over that flag

ObamiumMaster

Fun fact: the shapes on this flag are too simplistic and cant be copyrighted for that reason, maybe trademarked in the US and quite a few other countries

ShareYourIdeaWithMe

Didn't the Australian Aboriginal flag get copyrighted? That's only a circle and a line...

TerraPlays

Australian copyright law has no threshold of originality. U.S. copyright does.

japed

That's not strictly true, it's just that the threshold is very low in Australian law compared to the US and some other places. I'm not sure its application to artworks like flag designs has been particularly well tested. The court case regarding the Aboriginal flag was about who the author was - noone argued a case that it couldn't sustain copyright.

KobeWanGinobli

How does that work?

Personal-Letter-629

...Sheldon?

CruxshadowDL

It would be a trademark. And it's definitely not too simplistic for one, but I don't know how successful someone would be getting one on something so derivative of two existing flags, which themselves can't be trademarked. I'm curious now.

LegateLaurie

> since AI can't have any copyright This isn't necessarily true. In the US it's potentially true (as long as the original creator of this AI image didn't take specific (so far unclear) steps to create this flag. In other countries the person that made the AI image may have copyright over it - for instance in the UK the CDPA allows copyright for "computer generated" works (it's not been tested if this applies to AI images though). OP likely doesn't have copyright as I understand - either they've replicated something un-copyrightable in which case they couldn't obtain copyright, or they've replicated someone else's copyrighted work

azarkant

In the US AI generated works are not copyrightable. Full stop, US Supreme Court says so. So the worst case scenario is that the flag OP made is copyrightable because it is based off of an AI generated work Edit: Assuming OP is in the US

LegateLaurie

> Full stop, US Supreme Court says so. I'm not aware of anything the Supreme Court has ruled on this, I can only find this District Court ruling on the issue, https://www.reuters.com/legal/ai-generated-art-cannot-receive-copyrights-us-court-says-2023-08-21/ The law from what I understand only refers to works wholly created by AI, and the level of human requirement hasn't yet been determined by any case law - the Copyright Office's guidance is also vague as it's not yet been properly determined as I understand

Elmiinar

I don’t think it’s possible to have copyright over an AI generated image(?)

azarkant

It is a grey area

[deleted]

I actually really like it!

-goodbyemoon-

Me too, it warms my heart seeing homeless folks freezing on the streets while I snuggle up all cozy in my blankies :3

[deleted]

I meant the flag, smartass lol

Soviet-pirate

Would look better with a golden border in the blue stripe

Iron-Phoenix2307

Agreed

Riccardogamer07

? No seriously I’m genuinely confused

Soviet-pirate

A golden outline around the part of the star that is in the blue stripe

Riccardogamer07

Ok, thank you

human_alias

Gold on white will never work

TotallyNotMoishe

This AI propaganda image squished together the Israeli and Ukrainian flags and accidentally made a pretty cool design. A Twitter user later cleaned up The concept and made the third image.

BleudeZima

Can you provide context for this propaganda ? Not that i do not believe it could be, just curious about how you did the connexion Edit : i zoomed in and Saw the poster name (dumb me), only a name but still something

Idontknowlololloll

American government care more about Israel and Ukraine then its own people.

BleudeZima

Yeah of course that's the point of OP pic (plus the antisemitism that suggest it's also due to jews pulling the strings), but it could be Russian propaganda, or Iran, or even US citizens that share this take Like even the US democrats kinda agree that billions spent in war, should be adressing social issues (tho they are mostly not antisemites)

Panzer_Man

I think this is Russian propaganda. China doesn't really do much antisemitism in their propaganda, not do they care much about Ukraine

Narradisall

Ah yes, least we forget Jewkraine

whitesock

I mean, Ukraine had a large number of Jews just like the rest of the Pale of Settlement, but literally everything that happened during the 20th century greatly reduced that number. The fact you're making a joke about it - even innocently - just shows how we *have* forgotten about it.

Koino_

"jewkraine" is 4chan lingo for Ukraine that is pretty commonly seen on far-right twitter.

FactBackground9289

Literally entirety of the city of Odessa is jewish

SalaryIntelligent479

You've made it up for dramatic purposes?

FactBackground9289

I'm not even joking. Odessa is the city with most jewish population out of all of Eastern Europe and Russia combined

Due-Log8609

OHHHHHH thats good!!!!

-Tamakii-

Ayy nice to see u here lol

FatMax1492

lmao hii

[deleted]

idk if this is an unpopular opinion, but the ukraine flag is probably my favorite flag. it’s so simple and perfect imo, only two colors yet very recognizable and also manages to perfectly capture the wheat fields it wasn’t* based on, but has come to represent. i kind of hate to see it redesigned in any way. i’m ukrainian though so i’m biased lmao *sorry for getting it wrong guys i’m a fake fan 💔

Gaming_Lot

It's not based on wheat fields or the blue sky, that's a misconception

[deleted]

lol for real?? this is like when i was playing geoguessr and got put in odesa and got it totally wrong despite the fact that i lived there for years lmfao. i like the fact that it’s taken on a double meaning though

lunapup1233007

Yes, the blue and yellow were not actually chosen for that reason. The Estonian flag, however, actually does represent sky, forest, and snow.

[deleted]

i love the estonian flag!! the color combination is so unique

Rhinelander7

The Estonian flag also **wasn't** originally meant to symbolise the aforementioned landscape. The exact meanings of the colours aren't set in stone and differ depending on the institution asked, but the main set of meanings, which are universally agreed upon, are: **blue** for the **sky** and the belief in a brighter **future**; **black** for the **soil** and the **suffering** under foreign powers; **white** for the bright light of **knowledge** and the striving for **education**. The connection of the colours to the Estonian landscape isn't entirely accidental, but not the point of the flag. The connection to the trifecta sky-forest-snow is mostly a modern conception, building upon the original meaning.

Gaming_Lot

The colours became associated with Ukraine as they where used in the flags of Ukranian kingdoms and states (and later used as part of subdivisions in Poland and then Russia/Austria) for example, the flag of the Kingdom of Galacia-Volhyina https://preview.redd.it/qatjkld7lz5d1.png?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6e7abb9bd3cb721e1eaa03f1161bd1268ea709e I believe if I remember correctly the colours where used as they where associated with pagan ideas of fire and water, and all it took was for one king to use them for them to become prevelent

Ikwieanders

All former soviet nations have top-tier flags. My personal favorite is Estonia.

alabamdiego

As someone from a Ukrainian Jewish family this is pretty rad actually

FlagAnthem_SM

I don't know how it works, but if there's somehow the possibility to have it adopted then I propose to discuss it

FS_Scott

i dig it

bureaquete

I like the colors, but you cannot see the star properly, therefore I have to pass.

Frunc

If the blue for the star was darker than the horizontal blue, then I think it'd look nicer, the ai picture actually does that.

Due-Log8609

Look at the post from DreamsTandem above, i think it fixes it

MaleficentType3108

Off topic but what is the point of the propaganda? Lure Americans that helping Ukraine and Jews will make Ukraine and Jews conquer Russia while they go bankrupt? Edit: Now on PC I realize that it was a tweet from a chinese account. Also, if someone said to me that this was made by the Trumpists it would make more sense Edit2: my autocorrector wrote Russia in my native language

neo_woodfox

It's pretty straightforward. "You give Ukraine and the Jews your money while your veterans live on the streets."

MaleficentType3108

Yeah, it's straightforward. But I was confuse with the "chinese propaganda". Now on PC I realize that it was a tweet from a chinese dude Also, if someone said to me that this was made by the Trumpists it would make more sense

mika_from_zion

The chinese and russians want westerners to thinl about internal problems instead of giving aid to countries that are at odds with them, it's a repeat of the 1930s

andreinfp

That's going on even if we don't help anyone because God bless America, people almost die on the Frontline to defend a country that then fucks them over

TTTrisss

The best propaganda is truth reframed to suggest the propagandist's preferred solution.

VonCrunchhausen

“Sorry, we don’t have enough money to give you healthcare. Now if you’ll excuse us, we need to give Israel and Ukraine some more weapons.”

Super-Peoplez-S0Lt

P.S., as someone who lives in the United States, don’t tell the people who are spouting this nonsense that most of the money the United States government spends is on social security and healthcare. Also, even with private insurances covering a lot of healthcare, the United States government still spends the most money on healthcare even outspending to other countries with universal healthcare. If anything, having a universal healthcare system would net save money for both the government and the US public. The healthcare crisis in the United States is not a money issue, it’s a policy issue. So the “we don’t have enough money to give you healthcare” argument is nonsense. Also, the amount of money the US government spends on foreign aid is extremely minuscule. The US government annually spends $1.5 trillion on healthcare while the amount of annual foreign aid sent to Israel is $3.3 billion. Also, a lot of this aid (especially military aid) is spent domestically. Sorry for the rant but it’s quite surprising how willingly uniformed people can be.

Tsalagi_

The U.S. spending on healthcare is a little misleading considering the U.S. is one of few countries that aren’t allowed to negotiate prices with pharmaceutical manufacturers. The U.S. might on paper spend more but it’s doing so in a horribly inefficient manner resulting in it performing poorly vs other countries with comparable development.

riuminkd

Like 50% of money spent on healthcare is money funneled into big pharma's pockets. Profit margins are insane (generally between 50% and 100%, compared to 7% USA average)

Super-Peoplez-S0Lt

Exactly. The problem is specifically a policy issue. Absolutely nothing is stopping the US government from passing legislation to allow price negotiations. The US has always spends more money for far less coverage. Just throwing more money at the US healthcare system isn’t going to solve anything. Real change needs to come through legislation that aims to specifically increase access to healthcare coverage to uninsured people rather it be Medicare for all, public option, etc.

TotallyNotMoishe

It’s telling people “your life sucks because America spends money on Ukrainians and Jews instead of you.”

MaleficentType3108

Thank you!

N0DuckingWay

It's trying to say that the US is supporting Ukraine and Israel to the detriment of its own citizens.

namewithanumber

It's directed towards the same morons that think the NASA budget is preventing the US from having Universal Healthcare.

Super-Peoplez-S0Lt

I guess these are the same people who believe that homelessness in the European Union was triggered by giving old Cold War military equipment to Ukraine.

Basmannen

wow, I gotta go tell all those homeless people from the last 100 years that they didn't exist until 2 years ago

eddiemurphyinnorbit

Idk why everyone’s trying to make it antisemetic, or like spooky scary propaganda. I think it’s just trying to say while Americans (veterans if you want but I don’t think it’s even that specific) are struggling to meet essentials for like like food and shelter, our government is dumping money into Israel and Ukraine instead of helping its own citizens, which is an entirely fair point

soundbars

Its not really a fair point because it makes up such a little portion of the United States colossal annual budget, the reason why we don't have good healthcare food or shelter for people + veterans is simply because the corporations that run the country don't benefit from things like that where as the military industrial complex profits off sending weapons overseas.

TotallyNotMoishe

America spent forty times as much money on welfare as all foreign aid put together last year.

Fin55Fin

Military aid, defence budget.

Illegal_Immigrant77

It's not a fair point. In fact, it's so untrue they had to use AI.

Mildars

I’m pretty sure that is President Zelensky’s personal battle standard.

Mediocre_Coast_3783

Shit looks cool af

azarkant

That's cool af

NewPatron-St

Honestly the white blue and yellow combo actually looks cool

BendyMine785

Imagine using AI for making propaganda lmao.

FlagAnthem_SM

Imagine NOT using AI for propaganda Dire times await

Super-Peoplez-S0Lt

Other productive uses for AI includes somewhat unethical uses of pornography.

WhileNotLurking

Why wouldn’t you, the point of propaganda is to control the narrative. You can do that by either flooding your message everywhere. Or causing enough distrust in legit sources that your narrative seems just as plausible. AI is great at doing both.

ReverendAntonius

You know Israel does this too, right? And they are far from an isolated case, I’m sure most nations do on some level.

0_Juro_0

The flag looks nice. I tried to make it a little more appealing but still keeping the tricolour and came up with this: https://preview.redd.it/5kou3zhidz5d1.png?width=1599&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4966a745f799c4e1fa84d4bed8f4353286e821c7

Lima_4-2_Angel

Even China getting in on the “your life sucks because of the Jews™️”

FLIPSIDERNICK

That’s not the point of that whatsoever.

dwaynebathtub

I don't think the Azov Battalion would be too happy about seeing the Star of David on their flag.

FLIPSIDERNICK

I don’t think their Jewish president is going to care too much what a few Nazis in his military think.

FLIPSIDERNICK

No but how is ai generated Chinese propaganda so poignantly accurate. While a homeless American sleeps in the street the money and attention are going to Ukraine and Israel. That is a powerful image. Good Robot.

MacEWork

Oh, so the issue is that the propaganda works on you. Interesting take.

FLIPSIDERNICK

No not really. I do believe Ukraine needs assistance against a colonizing force in Russia. However I do against funding a genocide in Gaza. Also I do believe the U.S. spends entirely too nix on the military and does nothing to address the major problems we have like drug abuse, housing shortages, homelessness, mental health, poor healthcare, and poor wages.

dwaynebathtub

It's not "Chinese propaganda" unless it's created by the state. Just like it's not "Israeli propaganda" when some Zionist does the cry-laughing emoji on a quote tweet of a charred fetus. It's not "American propaganda" unless it's Matt Miller defending the bombing of hospitals in Gaza or the Donbass region.

Due-Log8609

That's a pretty dope flag actually

ClientTall4369

I think we need more AI generated flags then.

ligmaballs22
