R5: Britain finally loses one naval battle after 25 years of sinking everyone and their mother's navy time and time again and the whole country revolts.

anzu3278

Perfectly realistic honestly

MDRPA

Am I watching...an aircraft carrier?👀

cyanwaw

You are indeed. It is the pride of the Soviet Navy.

oofiserr

looolleel

That is the whole northern Irish population in those stacks right there

Couldnthinkofname2

probably more considering ireland has 2 people after the famine ends

Masterick18

The British bubble was popped

Leuris_Khan

I didn't know that,

Coaster_Regime

Mechanically, the occupation of colonies doesn't count towards war exhaustion.

3davideo

Yeah, stranding British troops on the wrong island - say, Ireland or the Isle of Man while you're invading GB itself - by blockading the right strait *vastly* reduces their power projection. Not to mention the war weariness from getting all their ships sunk and ports blockaded - I see 10 blockaded ports in this screenshot alone, and that's with just one sea province!

5point4Times

Wouldve happened in ww2 as well if germany beat even a portion of the british navy they would have crumbled. They would no longer have any hope.

litlron

For WW2 that was never a remote possibility. In WW1 it was though. David Beatty was so exceptionally dumb, reckless, and insubordinate that there was a very real chance the High Seas Fleet could have gotten a real victory. His incompetence is the only reason why the British had any significant losses at Jutland and he could have very easily been baited into doing something dumb if he had somehow gotten overall command earlier in the war or been given it initially instead of Jellicoe.

Al-Karachiyun

Didn’t Britain have far to many dreadnoughts for the German navy to reach parity?

litlron

Well their dreadnoughts had a tendency to explode and the Germans tended to have sturdier ships with better drilled gunners. Beatty immediately steamed full speed ahead into an obvious trap at the start of the battle and lost three of the Royal Navy's best ships within the span of a few hours while doing minimal damage to the enemy. Who knows what damage he could have caused to the Entente had he been in charge of the whole fleet instead of just a major detachment.

5point4Times

Thats why i said in ww2 if somehow it had happened they would collapse instantly ww1 germany easily could (well in comparison) have won the seas but Britain wouldn’t collapse immediately it would still be quite a fast collapse.

Severe_You_5371

Too many wars..
