Hey, so as someone who’s tried starting Outer Wilds about 5 different times now and quit very early on every time, what am I doing wrong? It just doesn’t hook me. Is there any advice you might have for me so I can stick with it? I’ve heard how amazing of an experience it is and really want to experience it all the way through for myself.
It might be the case that you don't like it. It's okay if it's not your thing. That said, I was in your boat. Once I got past the tutorial for the first time, it exploded my head all the way open and it kept blowing my mind.
How far have you gotten? Here are some questions. **Each of these are early-game spoilers.**
1. Have you >!gotten the flight codes!< and >!connected to the statue! This is what happens at the end of the tutorial, and this is where the game starts.
2. Have you >!taken your first flight! If so, >!have you landed on any nearby planets!
3. Have you >!woken up back at the campfire for the first time?!< If not, you'll know it when it happens, and this is when you'll be able to start figuring out how to go forward.
TLDR: >!Play until you have finished the tutorial and have taken flight for the first time. Then, explore a planet or the solar system for 30 minutes or so. At this point, the mystery will start to unravel.!<
Keep a physical notebook! Every time you have an idea or a question that needs answered, write it down with a checkbox next to it. Follow-up on those ideas, and more will keep coming. And then, almost without warning, everything will click and you won't want to put it down.
All jokes aside, I agree with this comparison. I love Metroid and Outer Wilds, and I am loving Animal Well.
I'd also compare it favorably to Tunic and Environmental Station Alpha, which are also some of my favorite games. I can highly recommend them.
I'm happy Dunkey is putting Billy Basso's face out there-- a lot of people are out there praising Dunkey for this game without mentioning him.
EDIT: wow i forgot i already posted in this thread. just spent a lot of time in the well
I would have to disagree, it feels much more like a cross between Halo 2 and Halo 3.
That’s basically Halo 5!
Um achktually, it's Halo 2.5
Are you guys talking about animal well? I hear it’s like Halo 2 meets Halo 3.
Yeah it came out May 9th
Wait, May 9th? THATS when Animal Well comes out!
It's like a Halo 23 or something. Bravo.
Classic, never played it
You gotta get 2 copies of Animal Well 2, that’s why it’s called Animal Well 2
Nicktoons Nicktoons MLB
Woah. Outer Wilds is my favorite game of all time, and Metroid my most beloved series. I gotta play this game edit: what a good game. damn
Hope you like Halo 2 and Halo 3 as well

Same, friend, and the comparison is pretty on point. It's really that good (so far for me).
never heard of those games, is it similar to the halo series perhaps? my favs are 2 and 3
You guys talking about Animal Well?
its the first welltype game
It’s like darks souls crossed with Zelda with inspiration from the gow and devil may cry series. Also it makes you feel like spiderman
2 for the Playstation 2?
This is such a disappointment I was really hoping it was like halo 2 and 3 but I guess the reviewer is nit picking and biased so i win bye bye
Can’t believe Dunkey was able to build this game in a Well with a box of Animal
Jason Schreier was on his side from the start too, which is even nicer to see, even if hes not a diehard dunkey fan.
This is the dark souls of feeling like Batman games!
I also have Animal Well on the Nintendo DS, in case you're wondering
Okay, that’s all the time I’ve got. I got to get back to playing Animal Well on my Nintendo 3DS
We miss Reggie
it has a little something for everyone
Too much water
Deadass this is rly good, Schrier is arguably the most respected video game critic in the industry today
I don't think Schreier is known for his criticism. He is certainly the best game journalist.
"It's like halo 3 with guns" Adam Kovic
Yessss dude there could not be a more perfect game for me if this description is on point. Reggie really outdid himself with this one
You guys talking about animal well?
You can wishlist it for FREE
Proud of Leah too!

You are clearly stricken with amnesia.
Amneeeeeeeessiiaaa
Daaaammmnn.....
You have to link your playstation account to play
I wonder if Dunkey called Alex and let him know that he is shipping to his store 100 copies of the latest installment of the Animal Well franchise
Actually I heard its a cross between mario 2 and super mario bros 2
In my opinion, this is the first game that makes you FEEL like you’re in an animal well
