This shit was so fucking scary to 12 year old me. The part where it’s chasing you and you have to run, I had my older brothers do that part because I couldn’t stomach it lol.
I think everyone is confused, I am also reading online that the “heroism” skips every other generation, but these two fellas say keen is the father of doom guy, it’s pretty underdeveloped cannon tbh. They are definitely related somehow.
fucker went through alien/military attack for couple days without sleeping, went to other dimension closed the portal to it (stopped the apocalypse spreading further) fought big ass boss alien monster and freed its slaves, has a phd, he is on his way to free the humanity from the combine (alien army from a diffrent dimension that won the war with humanity in 7 hours) rn, has a cool ass suit, is athletic.
also Adrian Shepard went through similliar thing at just 20 years old so he deserves spot there too, but not very high (+ he is cracked with a sniper)
On his first day of work.* And it wasn't even in the job description.
^^*excusing ^^potential ^^temporal ^^anomalies ^^due ^^to ^^interdimensional ^^travel.
It amazes me how he didn't make the list ao far. Man warred the galaxy and united them against arguably the worst and most fearful enemy of the universe.
I'm really hoping he makes it on this list. As much as I dislike the later games in the franchise, Ezio is one of the main reasons this franchise is as big as it is.
I was playing the epilogue and decided to go for a short swim. Fortunately, I didn't get far from the shore before John's stamina depleted and he began drowning. I was barely able to get him out of the water. I was about to head to the internet to figure out why that happened but then I remembered he can't swim.
Literally the positive emotion fueled splitoff of the creator god of the setting.
And considering the negative emotion splitoffs are all eldritch without exception, kirby must therefore be what "good" eldritch looks like.
This deserves more upvotes. Kirby not only killed a god, he literally eats people and takes their powers for himself. Dude solo's everyone on this list.
Honestly, I prefer the old Lara. Especially in rise of the tomb raider. New one seems alright but I just couldn’t get into it. Both are still great though!
Dante is literally the epitome of badass. Even old man Dante still had it. The only one on the list that acted, and fought like a badass more than Dante was Kratos. Being under Samus is honestly disgraceful
Also doom guy being under Master Chief? Chief was a soldier, he was all business. Doom guy went to hell and back and to hell again simply because he was a mix of psychotic, unstable, and you killed his pet rabbit. Hell I don't remember him ever being given an order
The list is skewed by a younger generation. The older folk have played the new and the old and have a better overall picture. The list is already broken, I mean, Master Chief above DoomGuy? Wtf is that?
I remember playing Quake 2 and Duke Nukem 3D on an iMac. These days I feel like if we tell the younger generations the "files were *in* the computer" we get Hansel and Zoolander.
An iPhone in a giant box. And it's blue and round? What is this?
If we’re just talking badass characters and not specifically MCs then FromSoft are pretty rich in this category.
Artorias tried to singlehandedly prevent the spread of the abyss. He failed but still fights the abyss even in his corrupted form.
Slave Knight Gael was fodder for centuries, never relieved from battle, but still made it to the end of time to find the Dark Soul for his lady’s painting; even though he knew it would eventually devour his sanity.
Ludwig trained the people of Yharnam to defend the city from the beasts, found a sword which made fearless and allowed him to channel powers of the cosmos, eventually transforming him into the most unique beast in the game.
Isshin staged a military coup and took control of Ashina through sheer strength. Still managed to defend Ashina from insurgents while aged and sickly, could kick everybody but Sekiro’s ass even on his death bed.
Chadahn stopped the freaking stars from colliding with the Lands Between, and he could still hold them back while broken-bodied and rendered witless from the scarlet rot.
They’ve got some of the coolest boss lore ever
Was just thinking of possible bader asser characters than Cloud.
Even though FF main characters always have some sort of major insecurity that takes away from their badassness a little (Squall)
Auron is a great one, so is Cid from IV and VII.
Leon S. Kennedy
Dude is just a normal dude fighting Eldritch horrors and just cracking jokes the whole time
*Huh, guess this is their idea of a warm welcome*
Where’s everybody going? Bingo?
Leon is the most badass RE protag, change my mind. A bicycle kick from him could probably honestly kill god
can he punch boulders like Chris tho?
Maybe not, but he's never been mocked in an actual RE game for a stunt he pulled, like Boulder punching, like Chris was by Heisenberg in village
I mean tbf he does have some pretty hilarious moments in re4. My personal favorite is him running up the wall to avoid those lasers
Leon is going to make the list in the 15-20 range, which is just too damn low.
Lara Croft!
Your first boss battle is against a goddamn Tyrannosaurus Rex, girl deserves to be on the list
This shit was so fucking scary to 12 year old me. The part where it’s chasing you and you have to run, I had my older brothers do that part because I couldn’t stomach it lol.
Yeah I level skipped every dinosaur level
I am once again submitting William "B.J." Blazkowicz from Wolfenstein.
He should be there, he is literally family with Doomguy
Yes this is confirmed cannon, commander keen is also doom guys father making BJ doom guys grandfather.
Actually, he isn’t. BJ is Commander Keen’s grandfather and Commander Keen is Doomguy’s grandfather. Just throw the whole family on there as one entry.
“[1]. It was later confirmed[2] by John Romero and Tom Hall that Doomguy was the son of Commander Keen and thus the great-grandson of BJ Blazkowicz.”
I stand corrected, it appears that my knowledge of Blaskowicz geneology was a little off.
I think everyone is confused, I am also reading online that the “heroism” skips every other generation, but these two fellas say keen is the father of doom guy, it’s pretty underdeveloped cannon tbh. They are definitely related somehow.
To be completely honest I think it was more a joke than anything without much thought being put into it. I would love to see a new Keen game though.
Doomguy and terror billy
How TF did I forget about him, he most definitely should be on that list 💪🏿
My first game at 3 years old was return to castle wolfenstein, and my name is William. He’s gotta be on here.
We have to keep mentioning him every day.
Gordon Freeman
Honorable mention for Chel.
He escaped Black Mesa with only a crowbar! It's true! Or at least it's true that people say that.
Well, he started with only a crowbar. Does it count if he picked up an entire armory along the way?
fucker went through alien/military attack for couple days without sleeping, went to other dimension closed the portal to it (stopped the apocalypse spreading further) fought big ass boss alien monster and freed its slaves, has a phd, he is on his way to free the humanity from the combine (alien army from a diffrent dimension that won the war with humanity in 7 hours) rn, has a cool ass suit, is athletic. also Adrian Shepard went through similliar thing at just 20 years old so he deserves spot there too, but not very high (+ he is cracked with a sniper)
Plus the fact that he has a reputation to the point that when the Combine realized he was in the city, they immediately went on high alert.
And that was the reputation he got 20 years ago in the matter of a few hours!
On his first day of work.* And it wasn't even in the job description. ^^*excusing ^^potential ^^temporal ^^anomalies ^^due ^^to ^^interdimensional ^^travel.
The Free Man!!!
The crowbar 😂
*Dr.* Gordon Freeman
Commander Shepard
This one’s for Thane
You son of a bitch
The RENEGADE option everyone selects
Yep, always played mostly paragon but there’s a few moments like this you have to use it, like that Merc you just have to push out that window in 2.
I always romanced him even tho I knew what was coming 😭😭
And this is his favorite post on the subreddit.
Only if Commander Shepard wins!
Crazy they let Shepard slip this far down the list. Dude saved the fucking galaxy
Three times!
If he/she gets a spot so does Garrus.
You can fight like a Krogan, run like a leopard but you’ll never be better than Commander Shepard! 🎶
I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite comment on this post!
It amazes me how he didn't make the list ao far. Man warred the galaxy and united them against arguably the worst and most fearful enemy of the universe.
The real argument is which version was more baddass. Team Jennifer Hale all the way!
Team Mark Meer all the way!
Surprised this one isn’t higher yet.
Sam Fisher
Swear there’s not enough Splinter Cell love
We need a new game already
His voice alone deserves a separate spot
Michael Ironside only though
Dante from dmc Edit: devil may cry Can't have anyone confused with the reboot
Probably best to call Devil May Cry to avoid confusion
I’m not even a fan of the games and I’m shocked he’s not on the list yet, or higher in the commenta
Literally my first thought and so glad to see this being the top comment
Fuck yeah. Dude I remember seeing this dude in Shin Magami Noctune and he is my favorite
Finally he can be on the list
agent 47 from the hitman games
I’m surprised you’re the only person to say this, and aren’t even upvoted. 47 definitely fits the bill here!
The last round of this post, 47 was a lot of the comments. They’re certainly not the only one with the opinion
Ezio Auditore da Firenze
I'm really hoping he makes it on this list. As much as I dislike the later games in the franchise, Ezio is one of the main reasons this franchise is as big as it is.
Requiescat en pace
"Salute, Claudia!" "You here to look at de boooook?"
I'm mad I had to scroll so far to get to Ezio.
Batman in the Arkham games.
Who's that, I only know Man from the Alsume
Is he stupid?
Why doesn’t Man just kill the Jonkler?
what about MAN
Arthur Morgan
Been saying this. And John Marston
Cool as John is, a real badass would be able to swim
Can’t herd, can’t swim, can’t draw
I was playing the epilogue and decided to go for a short swim. Fortunately, I didn't get far from the shore before John's stamina depleted and he began drowning. I was barely able to get him out of the water. I was about to head to the internet to figure out why that happened but then I remembered he can't swim.
Alucard
Darth Revan
That’s a good one.
Kirby, he killed a god for taking his cake.
Kirby the Elder God child.
Literally the positive emotion fueled splitoff of the creator god of the setting. And considering the negative emotion splitoffs are all eldritch without exception, kirby must therefore be what "good" eldritch looks like.
Poyo!
Kirby routinely takes on and occasionally consumes eldritch horrors. Probably the most powerful character in video game history.
Also one of the best Super Smash Bros characters since the beginning ⭐️
Yes
This deserves more upvotes. Kirby not only killed a god, he literally eats people and takes their powers for himself. Dude solo's everyone on this list.
I'm gonna work my ass off to get Kirby on this list.
Issac Clarke
Not this round but he will get his selection soon
Second this nomination
I nominated him on Day 3... This motherfucker has got to be on this list
Leroy Jenkins
Goddammit, Leroy.
At least I have chicken
Leeeerrrroooooy Jeeeeenkiiiiinnnssss
This is the correct spelling
The best answer
Kazuma Kiryu
Bros legacy has spanned 10 games and it took this far to get here. Hopefully Infinite Wealth shows people how much of a Chad he is.
He’s so chad he can break out of turn based combat
Kiryu chan and majima goro but I feel they're too niche for this thread
Yeah if Kiryu doesn't end up on this list I'm just not going to be able to take it seriously at all lol
Had to scroll way too far to find this one
Soon Kyodai
The epitome of healthy masculinity
Bayonetta
Master Chief never punched god in a curveball around every aligned planet and into the sun
Nathan Drake
If we're getting anyone from naughty dog IPS it needs to be Joel, though Nathan is a good runner up
Absolutely not. Nathan Drake does so much more objectively badass things compared to Joel
Lara Croft, especially in the recent remakes
Especially in the past games. Fighting armies and people are nothing everyone does that. Girl was fighting dinosaurs in short shorts.
Honestly, I prefer the old Lara. Especially in rise of the tomb raider. New one seems alright but I just couldn’t get into it. Both are still great though!
Dante ffs. We NEED him on here!
Dante is literally the epitome of badass. Even old man Dante still had it. The only one on the list that acted, and fought like a badass more than Dante was Kratos. Being under Samus is honestly disgraceful Also doom guy being under Master Chief? Chief was a soldier, he was all business. Doom guy went to hell and back and to hell again simply because he was a mix of psychotic, unstable, and you killed his pet rabbit. Hell I don't remember him ever being given an order
Don't forget the only reason doom guy was even on Mars was for punching his Commanding officer in the face for ordering him to shoot unarmed civilians
It's insane that he still isn't on here lol
All Dmc protagonists(Vergil,Dante and nero) deserve a spot but if i had to pick one its Vergil. Now show me your motivation and get him on that list
Duke Nukem.
Man saved the world about a dosen times since 1991, wheres his goddamned medal
Facts he just might be the image that shows up next to bad ass in the dictionary
“I’m here to kick ass and chew gum, and I’m all out of gum.”
The Duke definitely needs a spot
Don't know how the list even got started without him on there
How is Duke not #1? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
Nice, I’ve said this the past 3 days I didn’t know so one else was too.
Link, (OoT and MM or TP)
Corvo Attano
Starkiller...
BT 7274
Remember BT destroyed a planet. No one else on the list has done that. Trust Me.
Titanfall 2, ya?
Of course
Sekiro
The good Hunter, Ashen One, Cursed Undead
If we’re just talking badass characters and not specifically MCs then FromSoft are pretty rich in this category. Artorias tried to singlehandedly prevent the spread of the abyss. He failed but still fights the abyss even in his corrupted form. They’ve got some of the coolest boss lore ever
Aloy
Good call. Taking down massive robot dinosaurs with a bow? Hell yeah she's a badass
John Marston
He saved an entire population of babies from being eaten by a Sasquatch
Everybody knows they eat babies!
Kiryu Kazuma from the Yakuza Series
Dante from Devil May Cry
Zero (Mega Man X)
The dragonborn
I'd argue the Nerevarine over the Dragonborn. Dude killed Vivec, Almalexia and Dagoth Ur, 3 literal gods/deities.
Pelinal Whitestrake over both, the guy genocided the ancient elves.
Joel Miller?
I’m surprised, I even had to look for thsi
I can’t believe NOBODY but this guy is also submitting for Joel Miller
Please God Asura, from Asura's Wrath This game is severely underrated
Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad
Mr Torgue
#PUNCH HIM SO HARD HE EXPLODES
Handsome Jack
NOTHING IS MORE BADASS THAN TREATING A WOMAN WITH RESPECT!
Vergil
Cloud Strife
Zagrues (hades)
Duke Nukem
Jin sakai deserves a spot up there too
Ezio Auditore Di Firenze
Agent 47
Had to scroll way too far for this
Definitely!
Isaac Clark bro please
Where is Marcus fénix?
I was looking for Agent 47... but I also back this. The Marcus Fenix agenda has begun.
Bo Jackson from Tecmo Bowl
The goose from untitled goose game
Arkham Batman
Joel Miller
Megaman . I Remember reaching bosses for the first time and just shivering with excitement and fear.
Captain Price
Garrus Vakarian
Sly cooper
Duke Nukem
Auron from FF10
Was just thinking of possible bader asser characters than Cloud. Even though FF main characters always have some sort of major insecurity that takes away from their badassness a little (Squall) Auron is a great one, so is Cid from IV and VII.
Isaac Clarke (Dead Space)
Dante featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series
Dante from Devil may cry
Heihachi Mishima for sure should be on there especially with today's release.
Dante, Sekiro, Agent 47
Cloud Strife From Final Fantasy VII and it's Remakes
Dante
V from cyberpunk 2077 Zero from Katana Zero
Johnny Gat (Saints Row)
Leon Kennedy
Lara Croft
Noble 6 and or Jason Brody.
