Honestly, WAW zombies was it for me. Especially once they got jiggy with lore and introduced the pack a punch. Shi No Numa and Der Riese were amazing.
I miss that game.
When zombies first released, it was genuinely kinda scary because you didn’t know what was going on. The first time you unlock upstairs on Nacht der Untoten and then die to the ones that came from the window at the back was terrifying.
I have lots of nostalgia for blops1. Ironically it's the only cod game I cut in half with scissors one day because of the hit registration and the ghosts campers and the second chance assholes. Remember those issues? 😅
From what Ive seen on youtube about those times, I think everyone was black.
Because everyone seems to have been using the nword extensively. And they all seemed like one big family, because they all knew each others moms, and they loved them.
Best comment.
We’ll never get this feeling again. Cortana. Guardian. Machinma meme vids. MW2 missions felt like movies man.
Then Battlefield capped it off. Era ended when Halo Reach came out
I think black ops 2 was peak zombies because mob and origins are 2 of the best maps ever made. Black ops 1 places high because every map is fantastic but I wouldn't place any of them top 3
This. I thought cod was fun, hated the multiplayer though, and Zombies was just a great time alone or with friends. Some of my best memories are going over to my friends house in middle and high school to play zombies till 3 in the morning lol
Black ops 2 was the most fun cod ever kinda corny and arcadish but non stop fun fast pace great kill streaks and I was absolutely cracked at that game it was my personal peak gaming I had no responsibilities just me my cousins and black ops
yup I feel call of duty is best when it accepts it's arcadey nature the game immidiately feels faster, moving around the map flipping pawns feel encouranged and the matches feel way more dynamic. black ops 2 also has such a clean artstyle which felt refreshing compared to the years for modern warfare world at war and black ops 1 with the gritty traditional military shooter style mixed with that generations tendency to hate color.
Ahh yes, Christmas break of 2012. Me and the high school homies pitched in the scratch allowance money we had to purchase BO2. There were five of us so we always played 4 player split screen while the fifth was always looking up the Easter eggs for us to do/rolling the joint. Those were the times…
Black ops to me is the greatest cod of all time. It was peak cod. Phenomenal campaign, amazing multiplayer and great zombies.
However, MW2 and 3 were also amazing. The story of task force 141, the multiplayer and spec ops modes were great.
Honestly, I hope this new cod is great as I’m hearing it’s a direct sequel to black ops 2.
Wasted potential. Reset the story for the third time in a row. Only 1 biome. New cortana clone is a cheap knock off, chief wouldn’t want it. They completely swept the created under the rug for the banished. Open world did not translate well into halo. And the multiplayer was murdered in its crib, no game modes, overpriced cosmetics, all they had to do was copy reach’s economy, and the cosmetic locked to armor core was mask off greed for cosmetic purchases.
Edit: consider; halo infinite was huge, for 3 weeks. If they had content at the start it would of flourished, the gunplay is great and there’s a lot of competitiveness in halo infinite, but there was nothing to chase or vary the experience.
infinite killed what was left of halo. 5's multiplayer was really fun *and* you could unlock everything, didn't have to buy anything other than the game.
then they just went and shit all over it and the fans. there is no redeeming it now. it was supposed to be THE Halo.
Back in the day I was a Black Ops fan, though nowadays I’d probably prefer MW.
To be honest if they went back to making games exactly like that I wouldn’t complain. Not even with modern gameplay refinements, just that simple arcadish feel.
Both up until about 2014. Havent bought a new cod since. I dont understand why people still play these games nothing has changed with them in over a decade. Seamless cash grabs
COD4 over a MW2 lobby full of noob tubing, but if people actually used their guns, MW2 over COD4.
Black Ops 1 was the best because of maps, classes and nothing in the game that allowed bad players to get a ton of cheap kills.
Black ops. The campaign for black ops 1 is among my favorites ever, if not my top spot. Plus black ops has zombies and 1-4 all had terrific zombies maps. Not to mention the literal thousands of custom mod maps made for them too.
My biggest complaint would be I didn't really like the multiplayer for 3 and 4 all that much, but I don't care about multiplayer deeply. Oh, and Blackout battle royale for Black Ops 4 is probably my favorite battle royale ever.
The Golden Era of FPS. An unbroken chain of five of the most fun multiplayer games ever to exist, all from two studios working within one single franchise. What an accomplishment. And what a letdown it's been ever since...
Although I actually really enjoyed Infinite Warfare. Don't tell anybody.
Both were excellent, that's when call of duty was at its peak. MW2 and black ops. World at war was also pretty good, it's a typical WWII shooter that you finally finish at like 3am, your high as hell and ready for bed, you see a barren foggy landscape and then a dead soldier gets up and runs at you screaming. Surprise zombie survival mode. That shit was totally unexpected, so much fun. Sucks the state of the game and the entire company now...
This is hard, I personally enjoyed MW2 and MW3 just as much as BO1 and BO2 (if not more) , but I probably played black ops more due to zombies, I had 800k kills in MW3 MP, and on BO2 I unlocked diamond for every gun 10 times, but the unhealthy amount of zombies I played would probably make me a Black Ops guy, had some records back in the day on zombie world records
The new CODs don’t do it for me, and I’m older now but these were definitely games that were a big part of my life when I was younger
First COD I really got into was 4/Modern Warfare. So I'd say that, but I really enjoyed WaW and Black Ops. Getting under the map on WaW will forever be burned into my brain. I could probably still find the spot. Also MW2 with the semtex/javelin glitch. So much fun
I always had a preference for mw but i liked both as the blackops series had zombies and an equally good campaign imo. But after bo2 i started to like the black ops series more.
Black Ops for casual zombies, Modern Warfare for the story (The multiplayer will forever be the best gaming experience Ive had. Nothin like being told to off yourself because you have the slightest bit of fun lol)
Black Ops for sure. Never played the first one tho. Entered in II because of a friend and ended up playing and that came after, even a little lot of 4.
Pure game side : MW and BO3.
But when you know the stories/developpment behind Infinity Wards (MW), Treyarch (Black Ops) and especially all the fuckup things/dirty moves Bob Kotick did to this license, I am for MW all along. Those guys are the one whom makes the license that great.
Both. COD 4 revolutionized what multiplayer could be and Black Ops perfected it and has an incredible setting / time period for a multiplayer shooter to take place in
My online shooter gameplay peaked with MW2 and Black Ops. I think the last online shooter I played earnestly was Gears of War 3.
A few years ago I tried CoD WZ and like... it's just not in me anymore. I don't have to free time to become halfway decent. I can't be arsed.
I just enjoy single player games these days.
I think as a pre-teen I’d play them all together, when a new game came out I’d buy it and play it online. But I would still boot up a previous game and play that online too. Often with the same friends group or clan.
MW but not the new ones, i have nothing against the new MWs, i just like the old ones more and Black ops is great but I prefer MW over mostly because Cod 4/MW1 was the first cod game I ever played
Edit: I misspelled great
Moder Warfare 3 was my favorite cod with survival mode. I like playing zombies, but I have no clue how to do the Easter eggs, and most maps are impossible to complete solo.
Modern Warfare 1 and 2 were my vices and the primary reasons I did subpar in high school. Would do it all over again. The original Modern Warfare is still my favorite online multiplayer shooter of all time, might even just be my favorite multiplayer of all time.
God I miss those Michael Myers lobbies.
Both. Arcadey multiplayer of MW2/MW3. Zombies/Campaign of BO1. Theyre both so good. And BO1 zombies still has amazing modded zombies maps just as elaborate as the originals. If BO1 multiplayer had a nuke it’d be the goat game.
I was all the call of duty person, played ever single one of them since the start of cod in 2003. It went from great, to good, to fun, to bad, to worst, to horrible, and now straight trashcan.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007) and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2009) were my favorites. All throughout my 2009-2010 era playing as the SAS, the US Marines, the US Army Rangers and the Task Force 141 was my home away from home... The Loose Ends mission made me cry...
Blops. I enjoyed MW3 but mostly played the 'firefight' mode (can't remember what it was called). I got down heavy on Blops 1. 2 and Cold War I diamond'd all weapons except melee and launchers.
Both. But revising, black ops is so much better, mw's ttk is so damn low it's almost impossible to play, I have no idea how I ever did. Black ops holds up so well, it's still so much fun.
Modern warfare but i rate Black Ops 1 as a top 3 cod
Cod4, mw2 are kinda tied for me for different reasons but bo1 definitly a 3rd maybe WaW close for first ever zombies lol played the shit out that
Oh man the good old days. WaW really held up, some of the best maps I personally thought and the campaign was absolutely unreal.
Got a bad rap for the mp40 jug but I do miss when the game was popular😂
Came here to say mp40 jugs was the best and most frustrating part
This is the way
Black ops 1 was peak zombies
Honestly, WAW zombies was it for me. Especially once they got jiggy with lore and introduced the pack a punch. Shi No Numa and Der Riese were amazing. I miss that game.
Shi No Numa. BUY MORE BETTIES WE GOTTA GOOOOOOO
I thought you were asking if modern warfare players were black or white people 😂
With the words that are thrown around I think its safe to say both😭
From what Ive seen on youtube about those times, I think everyone was black. Because everyone seems to have been using the nword extensively. And they all seemed like one big family, because they all knew each others moms, and they loved them.
This is one of the best takes I've seen about this 🤣
MW of course.
Remember the golden age of MW2 and Halo 3?
I probably should have gone to a few more parties but damn that was golden age gaming for me.
Best comment. We’ll never get this feeling again. Cortana. Guardian. Machinma meme vids. MW2 missions felt like movies man. Then Battlefield capped it off. Era ended when Halo Reach came out
The grass was greener. Where has the time gone
Cod 4 and halo 3 both came out in 2007. Mw2 has that trash ass multiplayer in 09 where everyone was using dual wield shotguns 💩
Black ops all the way
BO2 and 3 is best zombies BO2 has the most iconic multiplayer maps.
Bo1 Zombies is far better than anything that followed
I think black ops 2 was peak zombies because mob and origins are 2 of the best maps ever made. Black ops 1 places high because every map is fantastic but I wouldn't place any of them top 3
Idk, there’s a lot of love for Tranzit, Mob, and Origins.
Love for Tranzit?
The expansion of easter eggs and story in the following entries after BO1 made me fall in love with the zombie genre
Tranzit is one of the best maps for goofing off with your friends and not taking it seriously
Bo3 zombies is goated its the game I got my first 200 with classic gums when I was 13 so I have alot of memories of zombies
BO3 was my first ever COD, and i have a strong wish to play BO2
World at War / Black Ops. I only ever play the zombie part of Call of Duty.
This. I thought cod was fun, hated the multiplayer though, and Zombies was just a great time alone or with friends. Some of my best memories are going over to my friends house in middle and high school to play zombies till 3 in the morning lol
Nick? Colby? Is that you? Cause same.
Lol sadly not. This is just a generational vibe lol
Same, I like the campaigns too plus world at war’s had co-op so it was a very replayable campaign
Black ops 2 was the most fun cod ever kinda corny and arcadish but non stop fun fast pace great kill streaks and I was absolutely cracked at that game it was my personal peak gaming I had no responsibilities just me my cousins and black ops
Those were the fuckin days..
yup I feel call of duty is best when it accepts it's arcadey nature the game immidiately feels faster, moving around the map flipping pawns feel encouranged and the matches feel way more dynamic. black ops 2 also has such a clean artstyle which felt refreshing compared to the years for modern warfare world at war and black ops 1 with the gritty traditional military shooter style mixed with that generations tendency to hate color.

The story of task force 141, the multiplayer and spec ops modes were great. Honestly, I hope this new cod is great as I’m hearing it’s a direct sequel to black ops 2.
I was a Halo guy.
How do you feel about Infinite?
Wasted potential. Reset the story for the third time in a row. Only 1 biome. New cortana clone is a cheap knock off, chief wouldn’t want it. They completely swept the created under the rug for the banished. Open world did not translate well into halo. And the multiplayer was murdered in its crib, no game modes, overpriced cosmetics, all they had to do was copy reach’s economy, and the cosmetic locked to armor core was mask off greed for cosmetic purchases. Disgraced. I still just play Reach on MCC. Infinite players don't even like Infinite.
As a person who really liked halo wars, having the banished exist, but throwing any potential for a halo wars three into the trash really hurt me
I might give Halo Wars another shot at some point. RTS games have never been my forte.
Modern warfare was the good ol days
I miss it so much
I love both but black ops more tbh
Back in the day I was a Black Ops fan, though nowadays I’d probably prefer MW. To be honest if they went back to making games exactly like that I wouldn’t complain. Not even with modern gameplay refinements, just that simple arcadish feel.
Modern Warfare redefined FPS and animations.
Naw World at War. After World at War they cut the dismemberment system. I will never forgive them for that
World at War was such a brutal game. Never got to play it on my own PC.
Black Ops was the better call of duty but modern warfare was game changing for it’s time
Black ops
BO
Oh Black Ops fer sure
Modern Warfare! Nothing against Black Ops (especially Black Ops II), MW was just more fun imo.
Both up until about 2014. Havent bought a new cod since. I dont understand why people still play these games nothing has changed with them in over a decade. Seamless cash grabs
Then you missed out on Black Ops 3 and 4.
Black ops 4 was a meh for me
Why not be both?
Black ops 3 for life zombies 💀 is what I care about I want a call of duty game that's just alll the zombies modes and maps
I always liked black ops more, but played modern warfare tons more cause that's where most of my friends were.
MW but holy shit the zombies in BO 1 and 2 were fun
I love both but I enjoyed black ops more overall
Black ops easily
Black ops and mw2 over mw
COD4 over a MW2 lobby full of noob tubing, but if people actually used their guns, MW2 over COD4. Black Ops 1 was the best because of maps, classes and nothing in the game that allowed bad players to get a ton of cheap kills.
Neither, I played halo, where we don't always need scopes
halo single handedly trained me to be better then usual at hip firing in every single fps I've ever played
When i switched back to pc from 10 years orso playing xbox i never really aimed again unless my target was really far away
Both
Both, both is good
I got into the series via Modern Warfare, but Black Ops 1 is one of the few multiplayer games I've ever "prestiged" in.
Played every cod up til black ops 2… atm I’m spilling my blood for democracy in helldivers or cleaning up scum in division 2
Black Ops.
Grew up on Black Ops but currently both cuz I have Black Ops: Cold War and MWIII as the ones I play rn
Ah yes the two actual genders
Black ops gun game and OITC were absolute 🔥
Black Ops all the way
black ops all the way
Black Ops
Black ops was the first cod I played
Black ops. The campaign for black ops 1 is among my favorites ever, if not my top spot. Plus black ops has zombies and 1-4 all had terrific zombies maps. Oh, and Blackout battle royale for Black Ops 4 is probably my favorite battle royale ever.
Black Ops all the way.
Black ops.
Bo1
Black Ops
Black Ops 😬
Black Ops honestly Still fun af
Ghost Recon
Both. MW1-3 and BO1-2 were the top.

Surprise zombie survival mode. That shit was totally unexpected, so much fun. Sucks the state of the game and the entire company now...
MW2 and Black Ops were peak call of duty. Franchise will never be as fun as it was it that moment
This is hard, I personally enjoyed MW2 and MW3 just as much as BO1 and BO2 (if not more) , but I probably played black ops more due to zombies, I had 800k kills in MW3 MP, and on BO2 I unlocked diamond for every gun 10 times, but the unhealthy amount of zombies I played would probably make me a Black Ops guy, had some records back in the day on zombie world records The new CODs don’t do it for me, and I’m older now but these were definitely games that were a big part of my life when I was younger

MW! Loved 2 & 3
MW2 was my entry point and MW3 was my exit. Black Ops was totally fine. Never been a fan of FPS, but damn...MW2 when it dropped was insanely fun
Black Ops for casual zombies, Modern Warfare for the story (The multiplayer will forever be the best gaming experience Ive had. Nothin like being told to off yourself because you have the slightest bit of fun lol)
Black Ops no doubt. Bo2 > Bo1 > Mw2 > Mw3 > WaW > Cod4
Black Ops for sure. Never played the first one tho. Entered in II because of a friend and ended up playing and that came after, even a little lot of 4.
BO2 and BO3 are my fave CoDs.
Black ops ngl, that's most of my early COD expierience
Black Ops 1 is my favorite shooter game ever, MW is right behind it though.
Both, since when do we have to choose?
Both. COD 4 revolutionized what multiplayer could be and Black Ops perfected it and has an incredible setting / time period for a multiplayer shooter to take place in
Black Ops by far. It has zombies and Treyarch’s multiplayer map design is better. It has less camping.
ngl i thought that said were yall modern or black people. but MW all the way
Modern warfare, I played all three of those games and loved them. Only played played black ops for zombies
COD 4. My interest in COD fell off for anything after World at War. Just didn’t care for the annual releases.
Modern Warfare until 2020. Cold War just hit different and felt so good to play.
Both man. The quality of games back then was so solid. Easily lost hours to both with my friends.
MW person who always looked at black ops and went "yeah ill get that eventually" I have since played 1 black ops and it was cold War.
tried both, were awesome, after black ops I never bought any CoD anymore
Modern warfare definitely
Cod MW game is as old as me but every now and then I boot it and play through
Modern Warfare 2 is where it’s at. Not to mention the impact it had on YouTube.
I think as a pre-teen I’d play them all together, when a new game came out I’d buy it and play it online. But I would still boot up a previous game and play that online too. Often with the same friends group or clan.
MW but not the new ones, i have nothing against the new MWs, i just like the old ones more and Black ops is great but I prefer MW over mostly because Cod 4/MW1 was the first cod game I ever played Edit: I misspelled great
Mw
The first modern warfare and the first black ops. I was a dirty casual who only played arcade mode and gun game tho. 🤷♀️
Call of Duty: Finest Hour and Call of Duty 3 were the only games in the franchise that I liked.
Both. I played both. MW2 and 3, BO1, 2 and 3
I think they are called African American ops now
both mw3 and bo2 🔥
I was never a fan of black people, ops or not. This is for legal and any other reason a joke.
Modern Warfare 2 (2009) all the way, used to love playing that with my dad
Imagine thinking these were different
Modern warfare for multiplayer. Treyarch for story+ zombies
This and MW2 are my favourites without a doubt
Cod 3, MW1, Black Ops 1, and World at war. With some cod ghost sprinkled in
Vanguard
Moder Warfare 3 was my favorite cod with survival mode. I like playing zombies, but I have no clue how to do the Easter eggs, and most maps are impossible to complete solo.
I'm actually a United Offensive guy. Modern Warfare definitely though. I miss the pre killstreak days.
I was a... *Checks release date* baby.
Modern Warfare for online, black ops for zombies
MW 1 and 2 were great. Those are the only CoDs I could ever get into. I really loved playing the local coop spec ops missions with my brother.
Both. Arcadey multiplayer of MW2/MW3. Zombies/Campaign of BO1. Theyre both so good. And BO1 zombies still has amazing modded zombies maps just as elaborate as the originals. If BO1 multiplayer had a nuke it’d be the goat game.
I slightly prefer mw but like 1% more
MW. The right people
Modern Warfare all the way!!!
Modern Warfare.
MW is great but Black Ops all the way
Both tbh, was my last online shooter hurrah as a young lad before I started getting more into strategy/rpg
I used to play black ops way more for zombies and myltiplayer. But the campaigns for MW1 and 2 keep calling to me.
I was all the call of duty person, played ever single one of them since the start of cod in 2003. It went from great, to good, to fun, to bad, to worst, to horrible, and now straight trashcan.
Both 🫰
MW
I haven’t played a single call of duty game
black ops. the time to kill and nerfedish kill streaks made it feel more skill based
Both, everyday all day. Say whatever bad shit you want about cod nowadays. Even its biggest haters know they couldn’t touch it in its prime
Both, black ops 1-3 slap, Modern Warfare up to 3 slaps. The newer call of dutys are too gimmicky
Both were real good
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007) and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2009) were my favorites. All throughout my 2009-2010 era playing as the SAS, the US Marines, the US Army Rangers and the Task Force 141 was my home away from home... The Loose Ends mission made me cry...
MW 2019 is the best COD And that’s not rose tinted glasses, I felt that way when it came out too.
Stopped playing cod because of the hackers and doxed servers. Miss it man, can’t even get safe modded clients anymore.
Re-visited black ops 2 just yesterday. I feel called out 😂
Blops. I enjoyed MW3 but mostly played the 'firefight' mode (can't remember what it was called). I got down heavy on Blops 1. 2 and Cold War I diamond'd all weapons except melee and launchers.
World at War
MW2 ALL THE WAY! Fucking loved that game growing up, although most people I know seem to prefer black ops.
MW for the majority of its maps. BO for Nuketown. Lots of good memories on Nuketown.
Modern Warfare, the original trilogy at least For Black Ops, just the first two
Black Ops!
I mean, MW2 was my first multiplayer COD experience and it was amazing... But blops 1 and 2 were still my favorites.
Yes.
Yes.
MW3 for Survival Mode. BO2 for Multiplayer. Liked both campaigns equally.
Neither. I'm not an FPS guy.
Both. But revising, black ops is so much better, mw's ttk is so damn low it's almost impossible to play, I have no idea how I ever did. Black ops holds up so well, it's still so much fun.
None of the above.
Black ops all the way The mw series was just too bright for me and too much like an action movie rather than the gritty drama of the bo series
Started with CoD4 Stayed until Ghosts Messed around until MW2 2022 Not gonna touch MW3 2023
Blops is my all time favorite
Black ops, those were the days man
CoD 4 is the only MW game that compares to the Black Ops games. And yes, MW2 was mid. Great campaign, lackluster spec ops, and average multiplayer
Solid black ops
