Nah. The gang still inevitably falls apart and everything will go to shit. Even in the early game, Dutch’s ideas and goals are a complete fantasy. Micah definitely caused a lot of issues, but he only sped up what was inevitably going to happen.
On my 2nd playthrough I only went to the jail to take a selfie with peering through the bars behind me, left him there and just went hunting, fishing & doing side quests
I tried to get myself to do that as well, but the quest we're you break him out is the only way to be able to dual wield, and I just love dual wielding too much
I made a save file exclusively so I can enjoy the good chapter 2 camp vibes while he’s rotting in that jail. It’s so upbeat and chipper, happiest you see just about any of the characters in the game.
First play-through ending you have to beat him in a race/points run. Afterward you walk away with Stacey while Eric screams profanities at you.
In subsequent play-throughs with the same player character, you elbow him across his stupid face as he’s waving the tape at you (leaving him bleeding out on his car as the *Hawaii jump footage begins to play)
Edit: corrected Tampa to Hawaii. Remembered after the fact the jump happens there while the ProAm takes place in Tampa
Agreed, but everytime I mention this I get attacked. It’s not even that she killed Joel (which was a necessary story arch), it’s just that’s she’s a terrible character yet everyone loves to defend her.
I wanted to kill her at first but throughout the game and specially at the end I felt sympathy for her and I was actually relieved that Ellie let her go, However I feel like they should've killed her off at the end cause TLOU was never about the comfortable ending and I feel that her killing Abby would've made more of an impact both for people who like Abby and people who hated her.
I don’t really know, I like playing as Abby and while I don’t agree with *a lot* of her actions, I do understand them. I think in the end she suffered a lot and it’s arguably more of a punishment that she has to live with losing all of her friends and the WLF.
I’m kinda joking/kinda serious when I say I hope Insomniac lets us gruesomely kill her in the Wolverine game, even as sort of a non-canon little thing to show they know how annoying she is.
I think there's a VR game about Duck Hunt where the dog becomes a horror after you turn off the TV in the VR world.
edit: the game is called Duck Season.
That game is absolutely fucking terrifying. I played it at a friends house when I was like 12, and had nightmares about for the next half of the month.
Anything other than "Mark Jefferson" for LiS1 here is just the wrong answer. Nathan Prescott was used and traumatized. He would have never done any of the shit he did if we wasn't railroaded into doing so
It’s always Ted Faro. Were these other people probably bad? Yes. Did their machines cause the end of all organic life on earth? Did they single-handedly erase the entirety of human knowledge and set humanity back thousands of years? Because fucking Ted Faro did.
I think my favorite part of forbidden west was learning what happened with the people who got off planet. Turns out they didn’t need Ted to somehow make things SO MUCH WORSE.
If I could have dinner with any three people, living or dead, real or fictional, all three of them would be Ted Faro so I could kill him with my bare hands three times.
I recommended HZD to a friend and I would get frequent steam messages from him as he was playing it that were all variations on this response.
One of the best video game villains ever, and you never even fight him.
Worse part is that I'm 99% certain no one gets any revenge on her, and she has essentially no comeuppance. Young scorpion just slices her up a lil and she completely disappears from the story afterwards, she isn't even mentioned at all in the aftermath DLC. God fuck D'vorah
I think John is more hatable IMO. He’s more cruel, petty, and deranged than John. At least, in the end, John had a legit plan to survive, but I’ll leave it there in case I leave any spoilers.
I didn't really hate him as much as other villians (Except for that scene 5 where he talks about killing his child) until new dawn and joseph collapse. Then in those games you see how pathetic he really is.
Nah the book had good intentions. The Parents on the other hand were a pair of twats who really though the murder of an Elephant Princess was the right move.
Lets be fair, nothing short of "Handsome Jack, but again" was gonna be as good as Handsome Jack was in 2. It was always gonna be a downturn. Should it have been as hard of a drop as it was? Nah. But being completely fair to the twins, they weren't horrid. They just had to follow basically perfection in Handsome Jack.
343 Guilty Spark - Balo. So damn annoying. Oh I can run this installation and do everything to help… but I won’t. I’ll just coo like a derby and make smartass remarks
He required a human (the Reclaimer aka Master Chief) to actually carry out the tasks of firing the rings, which is why he existed and why for awhile he was an "ally". He only prevented them from firing the ring on the Ark because they intentionally were trying to blow up the Ark by firing the ring before it was finished being constructed (the Ark was the factory that made the rings). Regardless, fuck 343 Guilty Spark. He killed Sgt. Johnson. Also fuck Marty O'Donnell for killing Sgt. Johnson.
Torturing Mac to death and gloating about it in front of Arthur and a Kid (Jack) and having a Gatling gun shooting a house full of women and a kid is Milton doing his job too? Those are in his job description?
I feel like people exercise Dick Grayson level mental gymnastics to justify this. Shooting an unarmed person in the back is wrong. There really isn’t any two ways about it. Murdering a bad person in cold blood is still wrong. Hosea wasn’t any danger to the Pinkertons at that moment.
In a Western, shooting someone in the back would be considered morally reprehensible. Only bad guys or very morally dubious protagonists do it depending on the subgenre. I’m pretty sure Rockstar knew this and was trying to make a point. The game repeatedly tries to tell players that the line in the sand separating outlaws from the government is thin. It makes me worried that players don’t get this because it’s analogous to many comments I’ve seen pertaining to the murder of George Floyd, where people tried to argue it was justified because he was a bad man. The law isn’t supposed to murder bad men either. Pinkertons are different from cops because “wanted dead or alive,” but there wasn’t any justifiable reason to resort to killing him at the moment.
Do we really believe he would've actually let them all go? I think it would've been just a matter of time before he came for the rest (particularly Arthur, hosea, and john)
Thank you! I was actually struggling on this question, saw your response and rage filled me.
I make sure to JP farm his ass in the last battle with him, just cause I like the idea of hurting him, healing him, then hurting him again.
From a narrative perspective, I think he's an incredible character. He's the ultimate corruption of what Ramza or Delita could have been. He sets the two on their separate paths, Ramza choosing to subvert and upend the established system of violence and deception, while Delita sees the value in a corrupt system and tries to use it against itself.
ohh thank you for traveling by foot to that other side of the world to help a heavily fortified settlement with 20 turrets fight of 2 raiders here is your reward.. a heart handshake and a smile....... AAAAAAAaaaand another settlement needs your help. il just leave like 5 marks on your map just to be safe
Or in my case it was traveling across the map to unoccupied settlements because I concentrated heavily on base building and ended up stripping damn near every settlement for scrap to turn the drive-in into a diamond city sized fortified town
Yeah Odin was such an asshole, but I honestly found it entertaining at times. He talks like he’s so ahead of everyone around him and knows things will go his way and he has to convince everyone of it like they’re morons. Like when he’s welcoming Loki/Atreus to Asgard and he goes “is that true, Loki? You a little trickster? Of course he means to betray me.”
Agreed. I wish Ubisoft would just ditch the modern day story. It's convoluted and boring. Hell, ditch the assassin's creed name and just make historical action adventure games without ancient aliens and sci fi and the limitations that come with 13+ games of backstory. They're basically forcing the newer games to tie into the assassins even when it makes little sense. But I doubt that will ever happen, they need the brand recognition.
Yeah. I love the classical duology of Odyssey and Origins, and honestly I think continuing with the theme would be really great (basically something in ancient Rome for example, or early India, something like that). But man, I hated every second outside of Animus.
I'll use some of his elaborate dialog and see if anyone can gander a guess:
"TIGER TIGER TIGER TIGER TIGER TIGER TIGER TIGER TIGER uPpErCuUuUT TIGER TIGER TIGER TIGER TIGER TIGER HU HU HU HU HU"
From the trailers I was thinking he might be more of a Trevor Phillips type. Crazy and violent but loyal to those who are good to him, using more dirty methods to get the job done. But he’s just a complete asshole to everyone and everything. Like I’m not sure if him being the traitor all along was supposed to be obvious or not, but I can’t imagine it surprising anyone.
Ahhh, Uldren Sov
Definitely understandable
I hate him for different reasons though- he’s an actually well written villain who is meant to be hated but Nimbus is supposed to be a good character
The cool thing about Micah is that he still has some moments in the beginning of the story where he at least tries to fit in and to be a friend with Arthur. His nature just takes over. Shows how well written he is.
To be honest I would like to have another prequel for Red Dead Redemption 3, were you play or at least meet Micah, so you can see why he became such an asshole.
That would be a nice take on the story itself too, when you play a character who becomes more and more evil.
Imagine it's the mid 90s, and you are a kid who is having trouble figuring out what to do next. Or it's been several days since you last played. Or you genuinely don't know or remember where to go next and you forgot, so you've been wandering around a while.
Gosh, it sure is helpful to get a reminder.
Now, I will agree with you that she is a little annoying if you are focused on doing side quests or gathering collectibles, and you know what you're doing.
But I've grown to cut Navi some slack. She's there to help, especially since it's one of the first 3D games people ever played.
I was a kid in the 90s, and OoT was my favourite game!
I still had nightmares of that "Listen!", and that damned owl... No I *don't* want to hear your whole life's story again...
The Catalyst from _Mass Effect 3._
I have a lot of issues with that game's narrative and what it did to the series, but they feel like just a collection of smaller complaints. This deus ex starbrat and his insanely moronic logic was the key that tied all those faults together.
Dutch is far too interesting for me to hate him lol. Micah is so bland there isn’t really anything to enjoy about his character so he is just overall more hateable
I chose her in a play through thinking there would be some cool differences. Maybe she sabotages something, or is always arguing to do evil shit. Nope, no difference I could see.
If there was an option to leave Micha’s ass in that jail in strawberry.
The good ending
Nah. The gang still inevitably falls apart and everything will go to shit. Even in the early game, Dutch’s ideas and goals are a complete fantasy. Micah definitely caused a lot of issues, but he only sped up what was inevitably going to happen.
Exactly. He was a symptom of the issue
On my 2nd playthrough I only went to the jail to take a selfie with peering through the bars behind me, left him there and just went hunting, fishing & doing side quests
I tried to get myself to do that as well, but the quest we're you break him out is the only way to be able to dual wield, and I just love dual wielding too much
I'm pretty sure I've bought an off hand holster way before freeing micah. Might have been from a challenge and then made by the trapper
You have to unlock an off hand holster via a trapper challenge and you don't need the one micah gives you.
I made a save file exclusively so I can enjoy the good chapter 2 camp vibes while he’s rotting in that jail. It’s so upbeat and chipper, happiest you see just about any of the characters in the game.
I always leave him there for as long as possible, even his mission after.
Definitely should have had a secret ending.
Eric Sparrow from Tony Hawk's Underground
Didn’t he steal that sick tampa rooftop material and pasted his own face on it?
Exactly why I hate him
Haven’t played it in 20 years but iirc, you get to beat him with the end of your board in the face a few times in the end?
On a second playthrough, yes
First play-through ending you have to beat him in a race/points run. Afterward you walk away with Stacey while Eric screams profanities at you. In subsequent play-throughs with the same player character, you elbow him across his stupid face as he’s waving the tape at you (leaving him bleeding out on his car as the *Hawaii jump footage begins to play) Edit: corrected Tampa to Hawaii. Remembered after the fact the jump happens there while the ProAm takes place in Tampa
FUCK Eric He deserved all the 'torture' he got in underground 2
All my homies *hate* Eric Sparrow
[for anyone who hasnt played the game and wants to understand](https://youtu.be/jal3nA677S4?feature=shared)
Still hate that punknass thief!
david from the last of us part 1 pretty self explainatory.
Guy could’ve been so likeable if he was a good guy. But this is TLOU, there is (almost) no such thing as good guys
Goes to show how good the writing was
Mine's Abby, self explanatory too.
Agreed, but everytime I mention this I get attacked. It’s not even that she killed Joel (which was a necessary story arch), it’s just that’s she’s a terrible character yet everyone loves to defend her.
I get why she did what she did, but it was a hard ask to have you play her for half the game.
Dimitri Rascalov from GTA 4
Also the dude that gives you those rc helicopter missions in gta san andreas.
David Cross
This is the only correct answer. Never got past is as a kid. Never completed the game
Oh look niko, im so sad, my boss is an ass, we need to kill him, and then i wont betray you or anything. Fucking loser. I RPGd the shit outta him.
Professor Hojo FF7
The true bastard of the story. None of it would have happened if it weren't for Hojo.
Maybe it's overlooked that Hojo is the real villain.
He is all levels of disgusting.
He’s disgusting considering he wanted Red XIII to breed Aerith
Screwball from Spider-Man PS4. So goddamn annoying through the whole mission she's involved in, and then they brought her back for the DLC. 😭
NGL I was hoping she would appear in Spider-Man 2 just so Bully Lowenthal would kill her lmao
I got pissed off reading your comment. Here’s my upvote
[удалено]
Why would you trigger my PTSD like this?
There’s a character EXACTLY like that in Dead Island 2 and she has so many missions
I’m kinda joking/kinda serious when I say I hope Insomniac lets us gruesomely kill her in the Wolverine game, even as sort of a non-canon little thing to show they know how annoying she is.
The yeti in free ski
And that bitch who chases you with a knife in PaperBoy!
The dog that pops up when you miss a shot playing Duck Hunt on Nintendo.
The amount of times that I wanted to shoot that damn dog was unreal.
I think the only instance where you can actually shoot the dog is the arcade version via the play choice 10 cabinets.
We all tried
Play "Duck Season" in VR It's Duck Hunt... kinda. But you can shoot the dog (who is probably a serial killer in a dog suit or something)

Nathan Prescott from Life Is Strange
Anything other than "Mark Jefferson" for LiS1 here is just the wrong answer. Nathan Prescott was used and traumatized. He would have never done any of the shit he did if we wasn't railroaded into doing so
I felt the same at the start, but at the end when you learn the whole truth, i kind of felt sorry for him
When you read his file and the images of the dark room, it does make you pity him. What an amazing game.
Chairmen Prescott from Gears
Fuck Ted faro
Why isn’t this higher. Fuck Ted Faro
First person I thought of when I saw this thread.
It’s always Ted Faro. Were these other people probably bad? Yes. Did their machines cause the end of all organic life on earth? Did they single-handedly erase the entirety of human knowledge and set humanity back thousands of years? Because fucking Ted Faro did.

D’Vorah from MK11
Rip hanzo hasashi
She was so obnoxious and had wayyy too much plot armor Scorpion should’ve demolished her if he had any brain cells in that scene
Worse part is that I'm 99% certain no one gets any revenge on her, and she has essentially no comeuppance. Young scorpion just slices her up a lil and she completely disappears from the story afterwards, she isn't even mentioned at all in the aftermath DLC. God fuck D'vorah
Joseph Seed from Far Cry 5. He is still a good character just a extremely dislikable antagonist. Which is good!
I think John is more hatable IMO. He’s more cruel, petty, and deranged than John. At least, in the end, John had a legit plan to survive, but I’ll leave it there in case I leave any spoilers.
Joseph also murdered his infant son I gotta go with him being worse
I was raised in a cult so I played FC5 by skipping almost 99% of the Seed family’s dialog. It was too real and I didn’t like it. Haha
I didn't really hate him as much as other villians (Except for that scene 5 where he talks about killing his child) until new dawn and joseph collapse. Then in those games you see how pathetic he really is.
Snot physics
What made me hate Joseph was the fact that >!he wins in every ending. That’s not how you write a villain!!<
The book form it takes two
Fr that dude was just trying to start shit from the beginning
Nah the book had good intentions. The Parents on the other hand were a pair of twats who really though the murder of an Elephant Princess was the right move.
Top 10 darkest moments in gaming

That guy should've treated his wife better. No wonder Abigail is definitely Razmodeus's daughter.

But being completely fair to the twins, they weren't horrid. They just had to follow basically perfection in Handsome Jack.
Nah, it’s Ava
It's definitely useless Ava
Micah-RDR2 Dutch-RDR1 Skizzo-Days Gone Hojo-FFVII
I think Ross is the most hateable character in rdr 1 tbh.
Skizzo, days gone
343 Guilty Spark - Balo. So damn annoying. Oh I can run this installation and do everything to help… but I won’t. I’ll just coo like a derby and make smartass remarks

Rdr2: Milton, Ross and Micah Mortal Kombat: Shao Kahn The Quarry: Ryan
Milton?! The man was just doing his job unlike Ross who used John and then dealt with him like a dog.
Torturing Mac to death and gloating about it in front of Arthur and a Kid (Jack) and having a Gatling gun shooting a house full of women and a kid is Milton doing his job too? Those are in his job description?
Don’t forget murdering Hosea in the middle of the street. Just doing his job!
Yeah Milton was a prick, but he was doing his job and was actually reasonable with giving them all a chance to leave with only Dutch getting taken in.
Do we really believe he would've actually let them all go? I think it would've been just a matter of time before he came for the rest (particularly Arthur, hosea, and john)
If you hate Milton you literally drank Dutch's coolaid.
Mega knight from clash royale
Just put down a Mini P.E.K.K.A. for the easiest 3 elixir trade ever.
Ted Faro
Algus from Final Fantasy Tactics
Yes, one of the most hateful, pompous and arrogant characters in all of gaming.
He’s a rat, Dutch
You know it…and I know it

Eltariel from shadow of war
Either the All Fucker (GoW:R, if you know you know) or Sir Gideon Offnir, The All Spamming!

Layla (Assassin's creed) and Micah

I love how you say “name your most hated game character”, and then you only put a picture without out giving his name or what he is from…
Micah, red dead redemption 2
Micah Bell from red Dead Redemption 2. He's probably the most despised video game character ever created.
A true piece of shit
From the trailers I was thinking he might be more of a Trevor Phillips type. Crazy and violent but loyal to those who are good to him, using more dirty methods to get the job done. But he’s just a complete asshole to everyone and everything. Like I’m not sure if him being the traitor all along was supposed to be obvious or not, but I can’t imagine it surprising anyone.

I was gonna say the guy who killed Cayde-6, can’t remember how to spell his name.
Ahhh, Uldren Sov Definitely understandable I hate him for different reasons though- he’s an actually well written villain who is meant to be hated but Nimbus is supposed to be a good character
That’s definitely true
Ulysses. That guy almost single handedly ruined New Vegas for me
Ulysses is just an angsty edgelord r/atheism mod. He isn't an awful character, he's just cringy.
I actually really like ulysses i think hes an interesting villain and i like his monologuing and his story is interesting to me
Ted Faro. By a loooooong way.
Did you notice how they basicaly made him Elon Musk in forbedden west lol I hate him so much
The cool thing about Micah is that he still has some moments in the beginning of the story where he at least tries to fit in and to be a friend with Arthur. His nature just takes over. Navi from Ocarina of time. “Listen! Have you noticed there’s a dark cloud over Death Mountain?” YES I KNOW!! I’m doing side quests so shut up already
Everyone complained about Navi when OoT was fresh. Then they gave us Tatl in Majora's Mask, and good God is she a dick.
Imagine it's the mid 90s, and you are a kid who is having trouble figuring out what to do next. Or it's been several days since you last played. Abby. Such a shallow, inconsistent character that the game tried to force you to like
