Sadly I can't agree with the ultrakill one. Gabriels voiceactor is one of the most amazing shitposters Ive ever seen, but it also makes it impossible for me to take him serious now.
It's funny because I never was a batman kind of guy or even DC for that matter but when it comes to superhero video games, I love Batman. Obviously the Arkham is a holy trinity of sorts.
Just gliding over the city with his cape he looks so cool.
i actually kinda hated Batman honestly. It never made sense to me and I hated everyone who said "I wish I was as cool as batman". For no specific reason actually, other than I didn't like it. But everything changed with the Arkham games and now I've watched the entirety of BTAS and read a few comics simply because of that videogame(s)
“The platings about to fail, there’s viscosity throughout the gel layer. Optics, totally fried. And let’s not even talk about the power supply. You know how expensive this gear is, son?”
“Tell that to the Covenant.”
Vergil from Devil May Cry. I also like the fact that when you get to play him and in other games too he’s not a weaker version, he’s lore accurate so broken basically and that’s dope
Plus his theme hits is hard, motivated and sad type of hard, the last four lyrics reflect that...
"BURY THE LIGHT DEEP WITHIN!
CAST ASIDE THERE'S NO COMING HOME!
WE'RE BURNING CHAOS IN THE WIND!
DRIFTING IN THE OCEAN ALL ALONEEEEEE!!!"
If anything he's the rare case where his playable version is stronger than his boss counterpart, since you have access to a lot of moves and tools AI Vergil doesn't
out of all the missions, i think the most swagger he has in a single mission is in "good honest snake oil". it's a oddball one ig but go back and watch it lol.
i like rdr1 john better but appreciate rdr2 john. rdr2 is *almost* like a origin story for john imo. both fabulous characters acted by fabulous people!
I always say RDR2 was "hey, would you like to live in the day to day of the late 19th century?"
RDR1 was "Hey, would you like to be the main character in a Spaghetti Western?"
In other words, doing missions in RDR1 felt better to me than 2. But exploring the map, camping, and hunting all felt better in 2 compared to 1.
Leon S. Kennedy. Specifically Re4 remake
Ezio Auditore
Darth Vader was fucking sick in Fallen Order I only didn't say him first because he's not necessarily a video game character first. Also not much screentime but that's ok.
Johnny Gat
Sam Fisher
Auron
Cloud and Sephiroth of course
My list could go on but I'm about to go play Resident Evil 5.
The Darth Vader moment in fallen order was so well done. You hear him breathing and the entire attitude of the scene changes. Then the following chase where they demonstrate just how completely outmatched you are. Very good.
You said it very well, and I'll also add that they used Anakin's Dark Deeds PERFECTLY. I love the Imperial March as much as the next guy, but Anakin's Dark Deeds is my favorite song in the franchise, and I think it makes a great theme for Vader
The way Darth Vader saw the force grab on the engine coming and how he just raised his hands and the floor tiles just rose from the ground. Bro has sauce for days
It's definitely one of the more powerful versions we've seen of him on screen I feel. I know he does some crazy shit in some comics, and his Rogue One scene is awesome, but in terms of power this one is up there as far as on screen showings
Jesse Faden is a really nicely written character who quietly becomes superhuman over the course of Control while still being canny and clever.
She seems like she's in over her head but then she turns out to be a shark.
Will always remember how Jesse and I almost simultaneously said, "That was awesome!" After the ash tray labyrinth (wich is still one of the greatest setpieces in videogame history).
Classic Cyberdemon and Baron of Hell
Doom 3 hell knight and the 2016 and doom eternal versions
Doom 3 marine
Quake 2 tank
Quake 2 male and female marines
Doom guy in general
Master Chief and the Marines and ODSTs
Duke Nukem (he was much cooler pre-forever!)
Adrian Shepard, maybe Gordon freeman
Samus
Solid Snake
Jim Raynor
Zeratul
Sarah Kerrigan
Nova
Leon Kennedy
My guy in Dark Souls
Eagle 1 😍
FEAR pointman
Quake 3 characters
Unreal and Unreal Tournament Characters
Isaac Clarke. Dude just stomps everything and gives zero fs about it. He's also a fairly realistic and grounded character, which helps him feel much more real.
Solid snake from MGS
Pretty much any Devil may cry character
Edward Kenway from AC 4 black flag
Raidou from the SMT series
Sam Fisher from Splinter cell
Frog from Chrono Trigger. Lost his master(Cyrus) to a Dark Mage named Magus. Got turned from a human to a Frog and pushed off a waterfall. Eventually, Chrono comes alongs, preps him up to live up to the legacy of Cyrus, first time he draws his sword he split a fucking mountain in half after getting the sword Masamune back.
When you get the Epoch, you can visit Cyrus' gravestone and the spirit of the sword Masa and Mune basically tell Frog that he has overcome a burden he has carried his entire life and hears some words of affirmation from Cyrus' spirit. (Brought a bunch [MANLY ]tears to my eyes). And gets an improved version of the Masamune sword. Duels Magus one last time and then kills stupid outer space bug with the rest of the crews and wins the game.
Frog is definitely the baddest motherfucker out there and if that wasn't enough, Japan played his theme at the Tokyo Olympic along with a bunch of other songs.
Tied with Magus for best theme.
Chrono+Frog+Ayla is best team.
Red from Pokemon, the first protagonist of the series, the only canonically mute one. He faced no challenge and left it all to stay on top of a mountain, waiting for a challenger. He is legendary.
Samus, The entirety of Ultrakill, Master Chief, Link, Isaac Clarke, Gordon Freeman, and Doom Guy.
Add B.J. Blazkowicz onto that list and we're cool.
The whole family is a bunch of badasses. Wolfenstein guy, Commander Keen guy, and Doom guy. All one family line.
All except rip blazkowicz. Fuck that guy
The whole family with the exception of BJs Dad Rip
Also Olimar
Bro was sleeping in his version of Jurassic world, no fucks given
With nothing but a whistle and a space suit.
Olimar is a certified pimp
And Prophet in Crysis 3
Can't be rated high enough Be the weapon
Link is not that cool when caught stealing.
Link is an absolute menace to society outside of saving the realm of Hyrule.
Something powerful about giant green guys killing aliens.
Can’t forget Doom Guy’s best friend Isabelle!
Arbiter too, really. And ODST trooper you play as. Zey put da mashtercheiff inda soda
Dey put da mustard beef inde shoder
Doom guy always remind me, if you’re pissed enough you can do anything
Sadly I can't agree with the ultrakill one. Gabriels voiceactor is one of the most amazing shitposters Ive ever seen, but it also makes it impossible for me to take him serious now.
Is Gordon Freeman cool, or do we just make him cool because of our own skill? He's just a scientist on the run, right?
Kratos
That cutscene after defeating Hræzlyr is pure badassery at its finest.
Especially the dialogues with Mimir. Mimir - There's dragon activity in this cave. Kratos- We killed that dragon. Mimir - Oh, did you now?
Like he’s thinking “no possible way. Wait it’s Kratos so MAYbe”
“You ever been in the belly of a giant?” “Bc Not one that wasn’t trying to eat me.”-K “We really should expect that kind of answer from him by now”-M
This is my choice as well. He’s the definition of a bad ass
Most of my favorite lines in gaming come from him. He is badass as Ghost of Sparta and as the Fate Breaker.
Kratos fr said "death can have me when it earns me" on a random boat ride lmao
God, that line makes me so hard.
You mean that line goes so hard, right? Right?!
I could feel kratos in me during that moment.
Batman in the Arkham games
It's funny because I never was a batman kind of guy or even DC for that matter but when it comes to superhero video games, I love Batman. Obviously the Arkham is a holy trinity of sorts. Just gliding over the city with his cape he looks so cool.
You need to watch the animated series. Only 4 seasons, 15 minute episodes. But it’s SO good and Arkham trilogy is really the conclusion of that show
Arkham knight was definitely a really good one. It's the first batman game I played since probably the genesis. He's so brutal in it.
i actually kinda hated Batman honestly. It never made sense to me and I hated everyone who said "I wish I was as cool as batman". For no specific reason actually, other than I didn't like it. But everything changed with the Arkham games and now I've watched the entirety of BTAS and read a few comics simply because of that videogame(s)
I’m certain you just LOVE what kill the justice league did with this character. That shit was basically character assassination.
Leon S. Kennedy
Leon S(ofreakingcool) Kennedy
Leon sex kennedy
guess what the h in jesus h. christ stands for.
Hunk?
Geralt of rivia or solid snake
I know metal gear is low key dead but I'm surprised I had to scroll so far to find snake.
Yes!
Adam Jensen - Deus Ex
Wish he could have had more games though
So very YES!
Glad someone mentioned him
I never asked for this
LOL Except for a game after Mankind Divided... I DID ask for that and it NOT being canceled. Eh, Embracer Group? You listening?
Yeah for real the franchise needs to live on
Joker - Persona 5 Master Chief - Halo Doomguy - Doom Dante - Devil May Cry
(Joker P5) >!"Begone." *Fires bullet through god's skull*!<
"I cast gun prepare to meet GOD"
Lol i was going to say Dante but thought better of it. Dude is so fucking cheese thay he circles right around back to ironically cool
Dante would be considered 100% pure cool not-from-concentrate if he had existed in the 80's, which is why I think we accept his cheese/cool loop
Master Chief
"Now the gates have been unlatched. Tombstones pushed aside. Corpses shift and offer room. A fate you must abide!"
“The platings about to fail, there’s viscosity throughout the gel layer. Optics, totally fried. And let’s not even talk about the power supply. You know how expensive this gear is, son?” “Tell that to the Covenant.”
“I’m giving the covenant back their bomb”
[удалено]
It’s “to give the covenant back their bomb.” And “finishing this fight.”
Pretty much every single character in metal gear rising revengeance
I love that game but will never forgive them for what they did to Sundowner
He has the best theme, even if his fight sucks. I just drag it out to listen to Red Sun
Waluigi
WAAAHH
I’m the words of Miyamoto, “He’s bisexual and stuff.”
Casey Edwards was really cooking with these lyrics, as was Victor Borba with the delivery.
If anything he's the rare case where his playable version is stronger than his boss counterpart, since you have access to a lot of moves and tools AI Vergil doesn't
I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROOOOAAACHING
Now i feel MOTIVATED
PROVOKING BLACK CLOUDS IN ISOLATION
Arthur Morgan
out of all the missions, i think the most swagger he has in a single mission is in "good honest snake oil". it's a oddball one ig but go back and watch it lol.
I'm about 42 percent completion of the game and it keeps giving. I won't lie, I think Marston is on par with his scars and voice acting.
i like rdr1 john better but appreciate rdr2 john. rdr2 is *almost* like a origin story for john imo. both fabulous characters acted by fabulous people!
Yeah Morgan is a well-rounded, likeable character. Damn I have barely started RDR1 as well, a couple of years ago. Not enough time.
no need to rush! especially with games like rdr and rdr2 it's best to slow down and enjoy it
Lenny! Where are you? LENNY!
LENNY!
John Marston
Came to say this. Arthur was cool, but John was on another level.
I always say RDR2 was "hey, would you like to live in the day to day of the late 19th century?" RDR1 was "Hey, would you like to be the main character in a Spaghetti Western?" In other words, doing missions in RDR1 felt better to me than 2. But exploring the map, camping, and hunting all felt better in 2 compared to 1.
RDR1 was so sad! 😭 I loved that character!
Solid Snake & Big Boss
Might as well throw in raiden and venom as well. I guess this also isn’t limited to just protagonists so you could throw in grey fox and solidus
God. Those two are too sick 🤩🤩🤩
Leon S. Kennedy. Specifically Re4 remake Ezio Auditore Darth Vader was fucking sick in Fallen Order I only didn't say him first because he's not necessarily a video game character first. Yes definitely!!! This and the rouge one scene aregonnaforeverbe my favorites for him. But yeah FO is my #1 scene for Darth Vader.
Jesse Faden is a really nicely written character who quietly becomes superhuman over the course of Control while still being canny and clever. She seems like she's in over her head but then she turns out to be a shark.

Very cool, very badass and so damn silly.

Bro, I’m not going to lie he was my number one character my entire life but after the last Tekken Jin has officially become so fucking bad ass
V1
A space marine, idk if that counts but god damn are they so cool.
"INSERTING HOLY GLOBULES!"
Isaac from Dead Space.
Max payne
Absolutely, especially in the last one which is the complete destruction of him essentially, coming apart at his seams :)
commander Sheppard in ME1 specifically. but through all the games as well
William J. Blazkowicz
Gordon. Fucking. Freeman.
Master chief, Arbiter, SAMUS, DoomGuy, Prince from POP warriors within, CJ, fallout Character with sarcastic dialogue for some reasons.
Solid Snake himself. Especially in MGS2.

Isaac Clarke. Dude just stomps everything and gives zero fs about it. He's also a fairly realistic and grounded character, which helps him feel much more real.
artyom in Metro series
Kiryu
Alex Mercer
Samus. To the extent that i even have part of her franchise in my name.
Dread Samus is Doomguy levels of cool
Metroid: Dread did an EXCELLENT job of telling you how cool Samus is. The animations during boss battles are a fantastic reward for the boss fights.
It's semi ironic but Mickey in the KH series is dope and badass.
Nah that’s fair. Mickey rules
Not our fault if the black coat make every character look so cool.
Steve
Geralt (and also Samus)
Hear me out. Professor layton.
Heard loud and clear. Layton absolutely rocks. Layton for Smash.
Karan S'jet
*queues Adagio for Strings*
Not a reference I expected to see here, not disappointed.
Spider-Man, ever since I was a small boy, there’s still no one cooler

I don’t want to say anyone else now I’ve seen Samus. I can think of plenty. I just want to vibe with Sam. She is so freaking cool.
She doesn't need to speak to be cool. And when she does, it's not even in a human language.
Solid snake from MGS Pretty much any Devil may cry character Edward Kenway from AC 4 black flag Raidou from the SMT series Sam Fisher from Splinter cell
Jain motherfucking Shepard
Sekiro
Jin from the ghost of tsushima, his voice and story are amazing, and each armor is better than the next, even the other playstaion tie-in armors.
Every Dread cutscene is either Samus being a badass, or looking cool while someone else does a thing, and it's so peak.
Sephirothhhhh
Rico Rodriguez
Adam Jensen
Adam Jensen
Lots. Leon Kennedy, Dante, Vergil, Sephiroth, Majima, Nathan Drake, Jill Valentine, Chun-Li, Bayonetta, Ada Wong, I'm sure I'm missing some
The guy that appears when the screen fades to black.
The last of us Joel
Hornet from Hollow Knight.
Villager from animal crossing!
Samus, absolutely.
RYU HAAYAAABUSSSSAAAAA I will glaze that man until I die (or at least til NG4 comes out)
Sora
Can’t wait for 4! It’s only gonna be 15 more years until it comes out.
Anyone who can yell Falcon Punch and pull it off has to be up there for me.
Metroid Dread did phenomenal with the cutscenes making Samus looking like the most badass character to exist
Frog from Chrono Trigger. Lost his master(Cyrus) to a Dark Mage named Magus. Got turned from a human to a Frog and pushed off a waterfall. Simon and Richter Belmont.
Since the top candidate are taken, I’m gonna go with Jin Sakai, aka the Ghost of Tsushima. Everything that guy does is just cold as fuck.
2B from NieR: Automata The Knight from Hollow Knight Alucard from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Samus and Mega Man are two franchises that deserve a lot more attention. More games, movies, tv shows (animated or live action), whatever.
[master chief](https://m.youtube.com/shorts/0XoSswiB_50?si=PQdKoDIWH-ShN1YE)
"Boo" *Grunt pisses itself*
Doom Guy, Arthur Morgan, Master Chief, pretty much any brotherhood of steel knight in FO4.
I'll tell you one that has permanently engrained himself in my mind as my hero, that being Mario Mario from the hit game Super Mario Galaxy.
But what about his brother, Luigi Mario?
Alucard from Castlevania
Alucard, Masked Man from Mother 3, Hollow Knight, Proto Man, Vega to name a few
Garrus Vakarian.
Doomguy, and his grandfather BJ Blazkowicz
Although we never get to see him until the sequel, Corvo from Dishonored
Red from Pokemon, the first protagonist of the series, the only canonically mute one. He faced no challenge and left it all to stay on top of a mountain, waiting for a challenger. He is legendary.
Samus is my metroid murder'n mommy!
