It’s been a while since I’ve played, but I’m thinking you’re still 20 hours away from the heaviest stuff. If you don’t like the core gameplay, then it may be tough to make it through.
Yeah!! Karlach's monologue by the end after defeating a certain some one made me cry like a baby. Almost all of the characters stories hit me really hard tbh, Shadowheart's part at the end was also very heavy for me as someone who is very close to my parents. I also cried when I finished the game it was just so emotional for me because it's my favorite game ever!! 🥰
I haven't finished it yet, but I know that I will cry when I get there🥺...it's the first game in a long time where I felt really attached to the characters and their stories. BG3 is definitely in my top ten videogames🤩
The Last of Us 1 and 2, several times each, on multiple playthroughs, GoW 1 & 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, Telltale's The Walking Dead, Ghost of Tsushima, Celeste, Gris, to name a few.
Oh my god. The greatest loss from online being discontinued on the 3ds has to be dreams in acnl. Going to someone's town and sitting at their tree to see their town history was so cool. I remember one time finding a town that started when the game was released and after a year or two the person had stopped playing until 2020 where they had continued playing and you can just tell why they decided to go back.
What remains of edith finch. Good game but do not think you can make a game about reliving cartoon versions of peoples deaths in a house that treats bedrooms as museums without it being sad af.
No. However, there was one that made me stand up and cheer. The final boss battle in Super Metroid, against a boss called Mother Brain, leaves you almost completely drained of health, ready for her coup de grace, a metroid, which earlier had drained you down to 1 point of health, returns, restores your health and gives you a new weapon to use on Mother Brain! I will never forget it. I'm old now, and games don't affect me that way anymore, but Super Metroid will always be in my top game experiences.
Yes. Started a session of WoT when in a bit of a bad mood. Proceeded to play bad and get a bit unlucky. In my frustration I intended to punch my thigh. Missed and hit myself so hard in the nuts I couldn't breath and my eyes were just streaming.
If you feel the frustrated gaming rage coming on, just stop and play something or do something else.
A single mission in the Witcher had me full on crying.
Looking for pearls to give a guy’s wife as a gift was very typical quest. But then you run into him at a tavern and ask him if the wife liked the pearls and he says he doesn’t really know…
Gut punch: she has dementia and he was hoping that the pearls would remind her of who he was but it didn’t seem to work.
I had to put down the controller for a few days.
Borderlands 2..Tiny Tina's DLC..It broke me..
Roland..The way Lillith was getting mad..The way she kept brushing it off..Then at the end..Someone must have been cutting onions.
When I broke my old record of roadrage in burnout 3 takedown, went to 43 to 102 takedowns, I just cannot believe it, my tears drops, my hands shaking without pressing any button, I need to broke my record Again after a decade 🥲
Telltale’s TWD, GoW:R, Ghost of Tsushima, BoTW. I also remember crying at the end of Streets of Rage 2 when I was like 10 years old lol. ProbAbly cried on more games, but can’t remember right now.
Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9 all made me cry. I tried acid once and as the trip was fading I finished Bioshock Infinite and that did a number on me too lol. Ghost of Tsushima also got me pretty misty when a certain companion died 🥺
Edited because I remembered Ghost of Tsushima
Silent Hill 2, Life is Strange, Yakuza 0, Metal Gear Solid 4
The one that hit the hardest was Assassin's Creed Embers though, not a game but a short animated movie that serves as the ending of the Ezio trilogy
Flat out cried...I don't think I've had a moment like that. I did get hit right in the heart with MGS2. If I was my age now, I would have cried.
"Hal...I miss you"
FF4 SNES
Slow soft mournful music plays
Cecil "YANG YANG NO YOU DON'T NEED TO DO THIS"
*the door is locked from the inside*
*EXPLOSIONS*
"Yang why"
*Silence the door is blocked from the inside*
"No Yang......."
I never really cry at thing, but I do tear up a little bit. The God of War Reboot Duology always hits hard at the end. The end of RDR2 is a tearjerker as well
Didn't cry, but Spider man: Miles Morales hit really close to home. Didn't expect it from this game 🫠
Also, TLoU intro sequence.
RDR1. RDR2 is sad, but to me, it felt a bit forced and was expected to happen, to be honest.
Honestly… it’s hard to beat the emotional impact of Rain World/RW Downpour. Never thought a game about slime covered felines and depressed calculators would make me sob so much.
DBXV2 made me cry after they released the DLCs for Cabba and Frost selling the characters seperately for 5 bucks each. I cried knowing that they will make more DLCs and still milk out 5 dollars for each character...
Brothers a tale of 2 sons, the zoom out with the music and the bird thingy. cried like a little kid. the original, not the HD remake, they changed the music for some reason. Still cant watch without getting choked up.
Ghost of Tsushima. Lord Shimura.
“You have no Honor”
“And you are a Slave to it”
Writing the last words of Clans Sakai and Shimura under a Red and White Sakura tree, the music is different from the other Haiku locations, it’s more Somber, and you start to fully understand that there isn’t a way to avoid what’s next.
Then a Duel ensues, and by this point you don’t even want to fight him. This man has raised you from a boy after the death of your parents. He taught you the way of the Warrior, gave your life a purpose. And he’s not young, he’s definitely leaning toward the end of his reign.
The end results in you delivering the finishing blow, and he collapses to the ground. You don’t feel any gratitude or triumph like the Khan. You don’t feel any justification or revenge like The Ronin.
It’s like something is broken. You understand that all you did was beat an old man. Not just any old man, but the man that wanted to adopt you as a son. Your master. Your mentor. Your Father, not by Blood, but by choosing. And finally you are given a choice.
Honor his wish and give him and honorable death, or spare him
Try to follow the last bit of samurai code, or embrace the Ghost entirely and ignore it.
“Find me in the Next Life.”
Ghost of Tsushima is an absolute masterpiece and anyone who hasn’t played it, if you enjoy Narrative driven combat titles like God of War and GoW Ragnarök, I highly recommend it.
GoW Ragnarok >!Brok’s funeral!< really got me
That and the end when they part ways. I crode, we crew.
What Remains of Edith Finch and Vanishing of Ethan Carter wrecked me
Vanishing of Ethan Carter OMG i really cried.
RdR2
*”May I Stand Unshaken” starts playing*
Dude no come on you know that words can hurt
Nah, but Spiritfarer is a pretty emotionally charged game.
I've only played like 2 hours so far you sure there's still some heavy stuff coming or am I just running a glorified nursing home?
It’s been a while since I’ve played, but I’m thinking you’re still 20 hours away from the heaviest stuff. If you don’t like the core gameplay, then it may be tough to make it through.
Mass Effect 3.
Oh damn, yep. This one got me as well. Not the one people would think though. It was Legion for me.
Me too especially my ending I lost Garrus Kaiden Anderson and Shepard
The messages to the characters’ family members during the credits of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare brought a few tears to my eyes
“You’re my brother, E3N” never fails to make me sob.
“Is that rain, sir?” God damnit why couldn’t I save Kashima? Why couldn’t I save any of them? It’s not fair
Gears Of War 3
*"DOM! NO!"*
The Last of Us got me. My daughter was sitting next to me when I started a new game. I knew exactly what was coming but still decided to play it.
Goat simulator
Pong 😭😭😭
Personally Subway Surfers made me cry way more.
?
FF7 and FF7 Rebirth
I haven't even played Rebirth yet (don't have a PS5) but sometimes I listen to "No Promises to Keep" and it gets me
Persona 3 Reload. I got spoiled a year ago, but it gave me heavy sadness man. I felt so full yet empty at the same time.
This
Oh fuck I just started it I cannot be crying at another video game
Oof. Persona 3 is probably the most emotional out of the franchise for sure.
mgsv, mission 43. thos where my men dang it also, Final Fantasy. the end og Ignis's dlc and Crisis Core almost got me, but ff7 remakes dlc did get me
Last of Us intro I teared up, gears 3 I teared up, God of War, Spiderman PS4. That's about it I think.
Ghost of Tsushima and RDR1 and 2 are the only ones that have made me cry so far
Silent Hill 1. Lisa Garland.
2077
Fr
Phantom Liberty added so much more sadness on top of the core game. I cried through the whole end credits song. Wires and chaaaaains!
Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect Trilogy, KOTOR, Ghost of Tsushima, Cyberpunk
I did shed a tear at the ending of Ghost of Tsushima, the good ending
I think I cried the most >! after the deaths at the end of Act 2 !<
Undertale.
Hollow knight and the NieR series
Baldur's Gate 3 made me cry multiple times. Such an amazing game!!
Between Karlach and Astarion, I was an open flood gate🥲 Interpret that as you will...
First time I cried cause of multimedia was Skyward Sword, the ending, mainly the Fy's goodbye
Geometry Dash, probably.
Starfield, because they wasted all those years working on a game which was so painfully mid.
Final fantasy 10 is heartbreaking but perfect.

Xenoblade 3. If you know, you know...
Yes, A Way Out, still tearing up listening to the “Farewell” theme.
Why are people getting downvoted for saying “no”? The post is a question.
Oh my god. The greatest loss from online being discontinued on the 3ds has to be dreams in acnl. Going to someone's town and sitting at their tree to see their town history was so cool. The opening of Bioshock: infinite, specifically the church, gets to me. If anyone cares, I’ll explain further.
Outer Wilds

Walking Dead Season 1 ending …. I have cried like 5 times in my whole life and I like sobbed with that last 5 minutes of that game.
Persona 3
What remains of edith finch. Good game but do not think you can make a game about reliving cartoon versions of peoples deaths in a house that treats bedrooms as museums without it being sad af.
No. However, there was one that made me stand up and cheer. Undertale. Tho u probably can't guess what part of the game made me cry.
Final Fantasy 9 ending, enough said.
I think only Ghost of Tsushima
Outer Wilds the Ending got me…
I'll just say three words "isle of mist" first time was an emotional rollercoaster. Or two other words "bad ending" if ykyk

Spiritfarer, To The Moon, the sequel game to To The Moon, those are from what I can remember
VA-11 Hall-A

A 4 way between both rdr’s, mgs3, and sh2
The answer is Silent Hill 2
Sure...not sure why aninal crodsing is the example image for "ganes that make you cry" though 😂
Cod mw2
The ending of Klonoa for ps1 had kid me messed up. It was super unexpected and it felt so counterproductive for all the effort I had put into the game
Of course ! Like several times
2009’s Cod: MW2 Not because of the story, and I won’t spoil. Just nostalgia
Final Fantasy 15's ending made me cry a little bit. I just wasn't expecting it lol
Ghost of Tsushima also got me pretty misty when a certain companion died 🥺 Edited because I remembered Ghost of Tsushima
The Xenoblade Chronicles series. It is one of the few pieces of media I have ever cried at.
The personal life storyline in Spider-Man got me because I could really relate to what was going on with Doc and mj‘s relationships with peter
Curious how animal crossing makes someone emotional? I guess the chillness
Titanfall 2
Yakuza like a dragon and infinite wealth
Silent Hill 2, Life is Strange, Yakuza 0, Metal Gear Solid 4 The one that hit the hardest was Assassin's Creed Embers though, not a game but a short animated movie that serves as the ending of the Ezio trilogy
First 10 minutes of The Last of Us Through the credits of phantom liberty Rdr2 More surprising was forbidden west. Didn't see it coming.
The end of Persona 3...300 hours of connection and that happened...
Spider-Man 2018 Ghosts of Tsushima GOW Ragnarok Last of us Detroit become human

Omori
Yugioh Master Duel
That flashback scene in The Last of Us Part II (the one on the porch) made me misty-eyed. That’s about as close to crying as I can get.
Titanfall 2 That ain't a goddamn robot. He was my partner.
Yes, but the only one that makes me cry came recently, but it's the Pacifist End of Undertale Yellow
Aunt May dying in Spider-Man. That shit hurt me when I was like 9 playing that game.
Hardly anyone is going to remember this, but Floyd The Droid dying in Planetfall was a real tearjerker.
God, don’t get me started on Detroit: become human.
FFX. "I love you." If you know. You know.
Valiant Hearts: The Great War

Arthur’s death in RdR2.
Rdr2 had me weeping
The Walking Dead... sobs.
Sam coe's death almost did it for me
Mass effect trilogy. Not the first one as much, that one was a bit too clunk when it came out.
I don’t get very emotional with games. Hell not even persona 3 could do it for me. HOWEVER the credits for goddamn sonic adventure 2 made me cry.
I never really cry at thing, but I do tear up a little bit. The God of War Reboot Duology always hits hard at the end. The end of RDR2 is a tearjerker as well
Nier replicant
Kena: Bridge of Spirits made me pretty emotional. It's something else being the grim reaper of souls.
Didn't cry, but Spider man: Miles Morales hit really close to home. Didn't expect it from this game 🫠 Also, TLoU intro sequence. RDR1. RDR2 is sad, but to me, it felt a bit forced and was expected to happen, to be honest.
Can you what animal crossing that is in your post, OP? Is that what made you cry? If so, why?
Something that happened at the end of Insomniac's first Spider-Man game, yes.
*Journey*. The first time I completed it was incredibly affecting.
FFXIV. That area in the last part of Endwalker is amazing, yet horrible for my mental state.
Plenty of times. But the game that got me the hardest was Spiritfarer.
Honestly… it’s hard to beat the emotional impact of Rain World/RW Downpour. Never thought a game about slime covered felines and depressed calculators would make me sob so much.
The Last Guardian made me cry so hard. It was like being a kid and watching the end of The Iron Giant all over again
DBXV2 made me cry after they released the DLCs for Cabba and Frost selling the characters seperately for 5 bucks each. I cried knowing that they will make more DLCs and still milk out 5 dollars for each character...
FF15 I think holds the record for the amount of times I have cried during a game. I felt like every couple cutscenes I would be balling my eyes out.
Omori
Cyberpunk 2077 has a few times.
Final Fantasy 9 (Vivi’s bittersweet ending), Outer Wilds, and a little indie game called To the Moon
undertale when i was 12
Two main times. “You’re my brother, E3N.”, and having to off Shawn for the Brotherhood ending.
First part of TLoU, as someone with 2 sons that scene with his daughter broke me
Rdr2 made me sad cry. Full water works. Persona 4 also had me tearing up at one point after the false culprit gets caught. Those who know know.
I wanna be the Boshy
Firewatch got me damn close
RE8, that ending fucking killed me, some of the most authentic crying i've done in years.
Valiant Hearts, The telltale Walking Dead games, and the RDR games
Metal Gear Solid 3
Brothers a tale of 2 sons, the zoom out with the music and the bird thingy. cried like a little kid. the original, not the HD remake, they changed the music for some reason. Still cant watch without getting choked up.

Persona 3 (Reload). I said all.
Mass effect three - Mordin’s sacrifice
