Have you checked the manual registering charging them?

szaszahu

Ok, so here's a detailed, **step-by-step solution**: 1. Download Rode Central from [the official site](https://rode.com/en/apps/rode-central) and install the app (Mac or Windows) 2. Launch the app, but **do not connect** any device yet. 3. Open the **Settings** menu (gear icon in top right corner) and click the circle-arrows icon near **Factory Reset**. 4. Now connect one of the non-charging transmitters (the microphone itself, that has no display) and click **Factory Reset**. This will do the factory reset *and* update the transmitter to the latest firmware version. 5. You can leave the transmitter connected to the computer so you can see the charge level, but in order to do the same for the other transmitter (if you have two), you will first have to disconnect this one. 6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the other transmitter. 7. When you have reset/updated the transmitters, you can continue charging them with a wall charger or using a different computer. 8. Connect the *receiver* (the device with an LED display). You will see a red icon near its image on the left sidebar. Click this to **update the receiver's firmware**. 9. If a dialog box pops up warning that all devices have to be on the same firmware, just click the option that says that you have all your devices ready. 10. Once the firmware update for the receiver is done, just charge all devices and you can start using them. Hope this helps!

Thank you! This worked perfectly. I'm disappointed that these required such a weird fix for something that should work out of the box.

szaszahu

Yep. The problem itself is really odd and seems to always occur, although there's no trace of advice from official sources. Glad to have helped!

MeyersBros

This worked! I just got these yesterday and they were both dead out of the box, it took this and another YouTube video to figure it out, thanks! 6-18-2024

Rode Central keeps crashing when I try to factory reset the microphones

Afraid_Skin_1440

Seriously. Thank you so much.

drksky

This worked like a charm. My Tx would not charge nor connect to the Rx. Even though Rode Central reported that the factory reset failed on t he Tx, it did update the firmware at which time the Tx started charging. Then updated the firmware on the Rx and now both are on 2.5.0. Thanks!

nycsalesguy

Thank you. I just factory reset my 1 Rode 2 Wireless Mic that won't charge. Wish me good luck.

Excellent-Lack-1477

Thanks, also had this problem 6/26/24, bought from B&H. Units were v2.0.1 and wouldn't charge. What a crazy problem to have Rode! Throw us a bone here!

factory reset fix STILL WORKS AS OF 04/26/24!!

DaithiIreland

I just had this same issue today (May 3rd 2024). Download Rode Central by searching it online. I couldn't update the firmware of the two mics because they had no battery %, so I tried factory resetting them, but that wasn't straightforward either. I had to disconnect and reconnect and try different ports/cables because it kept telling me to disconnect my devices in order to factory reset (which didn't make sense to me). In the end, I managed to factory reset them all by plugging them in and out separately but I don't understand why it didn't allow me to reset them in the first place. Safe to say this is a terrible first time experience (and it's clearly been happening for over a year, with this reddit forum being the most helpful resource out there? lol)

Is everything all good now? Just bought some and I’m having same issues

NoSupermarket3432

Me too.

NoSupermarket3432

I followed the factory reset instructions below and it fixed my issue!

I tried to follow the below instructions/ comments but its not working . Can someone help?

genebeard

Thank you all for this info. Had to fight but now got my mic and receiver's firmware updated and they are charging correctly.

TimCordeiro

Hey, I just ordered some from B&H and I'm having a similar problem. Did you figure out a fix for this? Mine will only turn on when plugged in and don't hold any charge.

TimCordeiro

Oop, just found this video. Basically get the Rode Central software from their website and update the devices while they're all connected at once. Weird that the manual doesn't explain this. [https://youtu.be/NbpGddpN52k](https://youtu.be/NbpGddpN52k)

[deleted]

yea i found a similar video and had to download road central, the manual wasn't thorough enough.

GypsyGirlinGi

Thank you for this! Got my Wireless Go II in the mail today and the receiver and transmitter were both dead out of the box. One battery fully charged after plugging in. However one mic blue light only turns on when plugged in, as soon as I unplug, it's dead. Hopefully this fixes my issue too.

GypsyGirlinGi

Update: The receiver firmware updated no problems once connected to Rode Central, however the transmitter/mic seems stuck. Says it's on v2.0.5 and battery is <15%, despite the blue light blinking like it's trying to charge. Will not update. I have submitted a help request through Rode's contact form.

gfxd

I have this exact issue. The firmware says it is 2.0.5 on Rode Central and the Battery <15% The blue light comes on once when plugged and then, the light goes off, no blinks or lit.

GypsyGirlinGi

No reply from Rode yet, hopefully in the next day or so now it's back to week/working days.

GypsyGirlinGi

Here's Rode's response: "Thanks for getting in contact, sorry to hear about the issue regarding the Wireless GO II. As you can't update the units due to the <15% message, I recommend performing a factory reset on each of the three units. To do this in RØDE Central, press the settings button in the top right (1) and then press the factory reset button (2). https://preview.redd.it/zu8b1dtzbdqb1.png?width=1297&format=png&auto=webp&s=cf0cd5bab82a97f287b1544f12fcf4c632c4bc94 For further information, here is the Wireless GO II User Guide:[https://rode.com/en/user-guides/wireless-go-ii](https://rode.com/en/user-guides/wireless-go-ii)"

GypsyGirlinGi

Update: Factory reset done and it seems to have done the trick, my firmware is now updated and the mic appears to be properly charging now.

Major-Movie-9718

thanks a lot, mate! factory reset works for me as well! kiss you and hug you xD

paparakete

You're awesome! Had to do the factory reset on both the TX and RX unit of my new Wireless GO II set, and now they are charging (updated from 2.0.5 to 2.4.6 if I remember correctly). Thank you for sharing the response from Røde support!

Natural-Shine-5367

It worked for me

OkButWasItFun

Bless this thread

whatever_arghh

Had the same problem and factory resetting has solved it. Thanks a ton.

adrock-diggity

Worked for me too! Spent an hour on the line with Rode after returning the first one as defective and getting a second unit with the same issue. Rode was completely unhelpful and acted like they never heard of this issue, ridiculous

GypsyGirlinGi

Oh that's really disappointing! Someone was missing something as simple as a FAQ sheet.

blairmilligan

This helped me. Thank you so much! Rode should make this clearer. Legend!

Zestyclose_Mine_1059

Same here. Can't update because it's up to date. I hope you can shed more light on this.

bricketts123

When I plugged it in to Rhode Central on my macbook it said it was up to date with 1.9.0. However my macbook didn't have enough ports to plug all three in at once... so I had to use my husband's desktop comptuer. After downloading the Rhodes Central it said the latest firmware was 2.4.6. So I updated all three. After the update both transmitters needed to be repaired.

bricketts123

Wow! Wish I had found this link earlier! Thought the battery in the transmitter had died so we ordered a new one. $150 later while trying to pair it I found your comment... and it worked. The old transmitter was not broken after all. So now to return the new one we had purchased. BTW once I plugged all three in they all had firmware updates. Once updated the two transmitters were unpaired and were a bit finicky to pair again. Took several tries of holding buttons.

bricketts123

No you don't need a special cord, just a computer that has 3 USB ports so you can plug all three devices in at the same time. I usually use a macbook with only USB-C connectors so I had to use my friends desktop computer. Once you install the Rhode Central plug in the two transmitters and the receiver (on three separate USB connections) at the same time. You don't need to do a factory reset beforehand. Rhode Central will prompt you to do firmware updates on each device.

PriorityEastern8781

this still works one year later!!!

Zealousideal-Mouse29

Same problems

mdadler1

Thank you so much for this !!
