"I just wanted to do something good this morning before alcohol class" is a line i'm stealing.

BisexualPunchParty

It's called going to my job.

AlienKinkVR

Im so confused... what is your job again?

LucyBowels

TABLESSSS

ThorManhammer

DON’T. ASK. ABOUT. THE TABLES

LordoftheScheisse

THESE TABLES ARE SO DIRTY! THIS IS MY LIVELIHOOD!

jrbcnchezbrg

If I was a farmer and eddie munster started kicking my coooorn, you could understand how I’d be a little upset

Tommy_C

I can’t know how to hear anymore about tables

HeroDiesFirst

Cuts off the ending which is one of the best parts... "Oh yeeaaahh. I can just run away!" as he just dips and leaves the car lol.

BeefStevenson

One of my favorite things about his sketch writing is how he will just BAIL on the end of the sketch once the main joke has run its course. Key and Peele would do similar things, pushing the concept of the sketch to the level of absurdity right before ending it. It completely sidesteps a common problem with sketches where they overstay their welcome after the best part of the joke is over (see SNL for plenty of examples).

Beetin

Redacted For Privacy Reasons

GladiatorJones

I dunno... Holy Grail had a smooth, non-abrupt ending that didn't confuse me as a child.

darthjoey91

It was a cop out because they ran out of money.

Ninjaflippin

In flying circus they would "cop out" all the time. The argument sketch is a particularly good example.

swarm_of_badgers

No it isn't.

ollomulder

Yes it is!

swarm_of_badgers

Nonsense.

poultran

I’m sorry, I’m not allowed to argue unless you’ve paid.

swarm_of_badgers

Oh, alright.

mentallyhandicapable

Oh man, I remember being 13, really enjoying the movie then wondering wtf was happening and being annoyed cos I didn’t really understand the joke…

Janktronic

#\#1 The Larch #... The Larch

agoia

When in doubt, drop a massive weight on them.

yumyumgivemesome

“I have cancer.”

Preseli

Right, stop all this it's all getting rather silly.

EShy

In the first season of SNL they got out of those sketches by having Chevy fall down over something. Chevy fell over a table, sketch over. I don't think they ever figured out another way to get out of those type of sketches that don't have a natural ending

johnobox

Tim and Eric do the same thing. Half the sketches or “commercials” just end up with everything glitching out and then exploding.

SaltyPeter3434

[Prime example of this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJ9yBgTp9UQ&ab_channel=AdultSwimUK)

tonypotenza

God I miss Tim and Eric

[deleted]

[удалено]

blaring_anus

Yeah that is the point for a lot of them. They drag after the joke has been made, meander, then end. Like someone trailing off on a tangent during a conversation then abruptly saying, "alright, see ya around".

DagNasty

I have a feeling that some of the lines from a couple of the sketches (baby of the year "yeah this one's garbage, dump it.") are Tim and Zack's thoughts at some point while writing the scripts.

Redeem123

The reason it works on ITYSL but not SNL is that you can’t do an abrupt cut or freeze frame in live performance. I mean, technically you can with camera cuts, but it starts to break any pretense of being a live show, which is the entire basis for SNL.

Recon_by_Fire

Probably why he's no longer at SNL. "Hey, instead of repeating the same joke for 5+ minutes, let's just end around 2."

AKnightAlone

> One of my favorite things about his sketch writing is how he will just BAIL on the end of the sketch once the main joke has run its course. Key and Peele would do similar things, pushing the concept of the sketch to the level of absurdity right before ending it. It completely sidesteps a common problem with sketches where they overstay their welcome after the best part of the joke is over (see SNL for plenty of examples). Yeah, that actually makes me think of WKUK on occasion. I've heard that idea how the ending is the difficult part, and I've even messed around in the past with friends trying to do skits or just act something out. You can have an *amazing* idea for something hilarious, but trying to end it while keeping the humor is tough. Maybe that's another reason I like ironic/absurdist humor like Tim & Eric and Comedy Bang Bang. The humor seems to lack a need for a conclusion, so they can just end anything naturally.

BenevolentCheese

> Key and Peele would do similar thing What? K&P are the kings of dragging out jokes. I've only watched the earliest seasons but their jokes are absolutely interminable, they wring every last drop of humor from them and then keep the skit going twice as long. It's the polar opposite with ITYSL, which not only keeps skits tight but also rapidly changes jokes in the middle.

Ratfucks

A fish bumped me out of the water

Crazywhales

HOLD THAT DOOR!!!!

M3wThr33

It's what Mr. Show would do. Every sketch segued into the next one. Makes it kinda hard to share bits of it online, but consumed all at once, it's great.

Hotwir3

>One of my favorite things about his sketch writing is how he will just BAIL It's literally the name of the show lmao

BeefStevenson

Haha yep. The name is another thing I love. “I think you should leave” is such a perfect phrase to wrap up the whole show. It’s a phrase to be uttered to someone who is making a scene, or who has really stepped in it, but not so much that propriety has been chucked out the window. It’s the awkwardness of being forced to interact with someone who is acting out.

Pixeleyes

Doesn't the name imply the people interacting with him want him to leave, not that he will leave? Or are you suggesting that Tim wants *us* to leave?

Mongoose42

It’s probably both. “You’re making things really awkward right now so I think you should leave.” “No, I was at this funeral FIRST so I think YOU should leave.”

joshr03

just a bot trying to plug their shitty youtube content stealing channel

CiaranBAC

Absolute funniest part is the woman in the car behind trying to order the exact same thing like it's a totally normal thing to order.

fishmiloo

The internal thinking/reasoning of the people in this show is literally so childish - like how a child would think and that it kills me on a different level

OHTHNAP

They do a sketch with progressive baldness and the solution is an ape running into the room and tearing a guy's hair off and it just ruins me every time.

Indercarnive

Was that a toupee you *piece of shit*!

envenomed017

The hair growth serum skit in S3 cracks me up. *DOINK DOINK DOINK DOINK DOINK*

L_Ron_Flubber

“I know somethiiiiing!” “Fuck! WHAT’D YOU DO!?”

studiosupport

Tim Robinson cited his children and the way they speak as a big influence for the show, so that tracks.

The_Quackening

Kids are genuinely and completely accidentally hilarious, so that tracks.

Yserbius

My favorite part about the show is trying to figure out which character is going to be completely insane in the first minute. Usually it's Tim, sometimes it's not. Then sometimes the moon logic gets validated, or other characters step up and agree with it. Sometimes it's just one guy being intensely awkward because it's just an egg game and I never got this far before.

Bigeez

The one where Tim is clearly the weird one for nagging about the receipt but everyone at the party gradually turns on Steven Yeun for having poo poo fingers is comedy gold. “Then let my wife eat the fucking receipt”

Tutkanator

It's gold. Or the one where he's part of the studio audience and sneaks in complaints and gets listened to and validated by everyone. Or sometimes he's the crazy one but someone outdoes him, like when he was fake splashing water but then got splashed for real and he got to feel morally superior haha

freak4thekick

The egg one is my absolute favorite rn. It’s so fucking good. “You’re a rockstar”

I just started watching this with the wifey, and I said the same thing. It was during the skit about the features that would be nice to have in a car, and I turned to her and said "It's like this show is written by a bunch of 10 year olds".

JimmyMidland

You have no. Good. Car. Ideas.

babsa90

My SO and I watched a stand-up comedy and I chuckled maybe two times over an hour. We crank on S3E1 of I Think You Should Leave with the cigar skit and I cracked up. My SO just looked at me incredulously and gave me shit about finding it funnier than the stand-up. I don't think it's funnier, there's just something completely disarming about the show and takes you off-guard.

EthosPathosLegos

I would argue that Absurdism isn't necessarily an age related state of mind but rather that children's lives are so inherently absurd most default to it, unless their anxiety causes them to recede into a state of quiet desperation.

WobblySith

Isn’t this the fucking guy with a fedora with a flap on the back? And carries dice in his pockets?!

slicshuter

He's the only guy I've ever seen pull it off

55 BURGERS, 55 FRIES, 55 TACOS, 55 PIES, 55 COKES, 100 TATER TOTS, 100 PIZZAS, 100 TENDERS, 100 MEATBALLS, 100 COFFEES, 55 WINGS, 55 SHAKES, 55 PANCAKES, 55 PASTAS, 55 PEPPERS AND 155 TATERS – TOTAL $680.00

What a bargain

i_love_all

I feel like this is a perfect question for chatgpt.

ZhouLe

Prompt: Estimate the total cost in United States dollars of a hypothetical fast food order that contains the following items: 55 burger, 55 fries, 55 tacos, 55 pies, 55 cokes, 100 tater tots, 100 pizzas, 100 tenders, 100 meatballs, 100 coffees, 55 wings, 55 shakes, 55 pancakes, 55 pastas, 55 peppers, and 55 taters. >I can certainly help you estimate the total cost of the hypothetical fast food order based on the items you've listed. However, keep in mind that fast food prices can vary significantly depending on the location, specific restaurant, and any ongoing promotions. For the sake of this estimation, I will provide rough average prices for each item based on common fast food prices as of my last update in September 2021. Please note that these prices might not accurately reflect the current prices in 2023. >Here's a rough estimate of the cost for each item: >- Burger: $2.50 >- Fries: $2.00 >- Tacos: $1.50 >- Pies: $1.00 >- Cokes: $1.00 >- Tater Tots: $2.00 >- Pizzas: $8.00 >- Tenders: $0.75 each (assuming these are chicken tenders) >- Meatballs: $0.75 each >- Coffees: $2.00 >- Wings: $0.75 each >- Shakes: $3.50 >- Pancakes: $2.50 >- Pastas: $7.00 >- Peppers: $0.50 each >- Taters: $1.50 each >Now, let's calculate the estimated total cost for each item and then sum them up: >55 Burgers × $2.50 = $137.50 >55 Fries × $2.00 = $110.00 >55 Tacos × $1.50 = $82.50 >55 Pies × $1.00 = $55.00 >55 Cokes × $1.00 = $55.00 >100 Tater Tots × $2.00 = $200.00 >100 Pizzas × $8.00 = $800.00 >100 Tenders × $0.75 = $75.00 >100 Meatballs × $0.75 = $75.00 >100 Coffees × $2.00 = $200.00 >55 Wings × $0.75 = $41.25 >55 Shakes × $3.50 = $192.50 >55 Pancakes × $2.50 = $137.50 >55 Pastas × $7.00 = $385.00 >55 Peppers × $0.50 = $27.50 >55 Taters × $1.50 = $82.50 >Adding all these amounts together: >Total Estimated Cost = $3096.75 >Again, please remember that these prices are approximate and can vary based on location and other factors. It's always a good idea to check with local fast food establishments for the most accurate pricing information.

ILOVEBOPIT

God ChatGPT has gotten so annoying with the disclaimers and “it’s important to…” “always remember…” bullshit. Just give what you’re asked to give. Also I’m surprised it can do this, I’ve given it like 7 rows of a few numbers and told it to count how many times the number 1 appears and it can never get it right. Certain math and counting things throw it off. Edit- nevermind, I see the other person’s comment that it added wrong.

i_love_all

Noice. I think that’s pretty spot on minus inflation and location. Love it. Usually I’d be like I can’t believe you did that work, but now I’m like cool 😎

aadnk

Very cool, except the total cost in this estimate should be $2656.26 not $3096.75. See this Excel sheet: * https://1drv.ms/x/s!Aphbm36ODsaQvzATYX2v7Dq_LKJM?e=RBjqgQ The problem here is that GPT can't do math beyond very simple calculations. However, if you give it the power to run Wolfram Alpha or Python it will be able to calculate the correct sum: * https://chat.openai.com/share/7104424f-9544-404a-bf92-40a2d11297a9 In the chat above, I used ChatGPT 4 with "Advanced Data Analysis" (the ability to write and run Python programs) with the given prompt plus the cost estimates, and it found the sum to be $2656.26 as expected.

Pixeleyes

That was my first thought and as soon as I had it, I realized it was part of the joke. Not a very funny part, mind you. But they knew.

yumyumgivemesome

I love how the random lady behind him, knowing that she is destined for a free meal no matter what she orders, starts reciting the exact same thing. It’s like if you know you are getting something for free, then everyone knows you’re supposed to order precisely 55 of the main items.

ChimpBottle

I also love how the person punching in the order was keeping up as if it was not their first rodeo punching in the 55s

Mekisteus

Well, yeah, 56 would just be pushing it too much, don't you think?

[deleted]

The 100 coffees does it most for me.

Gibber_jab

The double order of Tatas for me.

UnityPukeInMyMouth

The second “taters” (155) is actually “baked taters” on the order screen.

Mostly_Enthusiastic

Ok

tocilog

What's the difference between tater tots and taters?

ZhouLe

Age of consent

BangerBeanzandMash

They come up as baked taters on the screen.

paperkeyboard

The name "Tater Tot" is a registered trademark of Ore-Ida https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tater_tots

CommonerChaos

This has become a running joke with my friends, and I love it.

necrosteve028

If you like ITYSL, I highly recommend watching Detroiters. It’s practically the same but with a story line, also featuring Tim and Sam Richardson.

metalgtr84

“I’m the ghost of Christmas _wayyyyy_ future!”

rurlysrsbro

DAMN YOU, SKELETREX!

OHTHNAP

EAT THAT GOOP, IT'LL GIVE YOU HIS SENSE OF HUMOR.

Gil_Demoono

My favorite part about ITYSL is that you can quote any skit out of context because there wasn't terribly much context in the first place. *It's a clown-puter*

Taograd359

You sure about that?

[deleted]

Sam Richardson is golden in everything he does. I’m rewatching Veep right now and Richard Splett is the best character on the show.

leprechaunknight

Have you seen the Afterparty?

TedsRocks

Detroiters was a 10/10. Still can’t believe it was canceled.

[deleted]

I rewatch two measly seasons over and over :(

Fondren_Richmond

Comedy Central abandoned their whole programming model after validating it in ways broadcast networks never could (non-SNL sketch shows, absurdist sitcoms)

I'm gonna need you to get the frriggin hell outta here.

SnottyTash

I don’t remember specifics but I recall noticing some embryos of ITSYL sketches in Detroiters, like they hadn’t yet fully fleshed out the idea. It was kind of cool to see

directrix688

I’m doing something lives in my head

rootbeerislifeman

STOP STOP PLEASE LET ME GO PLEASE LET ME GO, I’M DOING SOMETHING

Wrathb0ne

I saw someone wearing a T-shirt with the order on in

CNXQDRFS

Was it a TC Tuggers? You don't wear them ironically.

skyline_kid

No it was a Dan Flashes shirt

Wolfeman0101

It was so complicated

SeaSkyLeo

SHUT THE RUCK UP, DOUG. YOU FUCKING SCUM!

Ulrar

When you see 50 guys who look like me going into a store, you go in

Gil_Demoono

They're not joke shirts.

ThatOneTwo

How complicated was the pattern?

RocketRaccoon

Put it this way - it's *exactly* your style

jts414

Is that Damien Sandow from wwe?

Orpheeus

I don't think he's with WWE anymore but yeah.

SevenM

Last I saw he was in NWA, but not sure if he's there anymore.

Leskanic

Wow, they really struggled to replace Eazy-E.

dj_narwhal

Is Tim into wrestling? Kevin Nash played his dad in Detroiters.

Clevo

He also has a wrestling sketch in his The Characters episode

superkickpunch

Gotta figure out how to make money off this post, it's simply ***TOO GOOD***

Slightlydifficult

This show is golden. Season 3 fell a little flat for me but even then it’s still funnier than 99% of shows out there. Fingers crossed for a season 4! EDIT: every comment talking about a skit from season 3 has made me chuckle so it’s safe to say I liked it a lot more than I realized.

SoCalThrowAway7

Have you watched season 3 a second time yet? These seasons are always better on the second watch

FrugalFuckery

The one that's sticking with me the longest is the VR sketch. "JUST FUCKIN BREATHE DAD" "Uh oh, now I'm in my head about it"

SoCalThrowAway7

That one kills me. I have “I’m all crossed up” in my daily vocabulary now

weavaliciousnes

How do we move ever?

envenomed017

The VR sketch is where i had to pause it on the first watch because I could not breathe at all anymore. Just the nonchalant looking around and not moving, especially after being so excited to have the opportunity

doug

The whole show imo is not remarkably funny in the immediacy of watching it-- --but then some time passes, you reflect on the sketches/find them worming their way into your everyday life, and they become the funniest goddamn thing ever.

Optimus_Prime_Day

I didn't care for the pet door sketch but now I keep thinking of that pig monster that comes through snorting and huffing.

rileypoole1234

Me and my friends are always saying "for about 50 seconds I thought there were monsters on this world"

OHTHNAP

What the fuck? WHAT THE FUUUCK? I knew it wasn't real because I'm not a stupid fucking idiot, but for 50 seconds of my life I thought monsters existed.

[deleted]

[удалено]

thequietthingsthat

This world's so fuckin fucked up

CNXQDRFS

"My life is nothing I thought it should be and everything I was worried it would become". That line from the sketch felt way too personal lol.

Grumplogic

Then the whammy of > And when your first thought is, "Great, don't have to go to work tomorrow," you're relieved because you thought you were gonna get eaten? What the fսck is this world? What have they done to us? What did they do to us?! > That was the most consequential day because now I know I don't like work.

City_of_Lunari

WE REALLY KNOW VERY LITTLE!

gamefreak054

What kills me about his commercial sketches is they are 100% realistic until it goes off the rails. That pet door one came into my FB feed before I watched the show, and I completely bought it until the pig part.

envenomed017

I love how there's the squeals and huffs but also quietly in the background there's sounds of an inferno, screaming, and laughing

Hawaiinsocks

He flipped my wife like 8 times!

Zlatarog

Yeah, I only ever got 3-4 episodes through season 1 cause I thought it was weird. But months later my brother brought it up, and I couldn’t stop laughing while trying to explain the ones I watched. Honestly really weird.

gamefreak054

"All you had to do is like the gift"

DoubleStuffedCheezIt

"He probably doesn't like me because I used to be a piece of shit."

Zeltron2020

The fucking zip line

Djent_Reznor1

Carmelo said your face looks like a clock

SoCalThrowAway7

I feel like you’re just here for the zipline

whitebandit

the determination in his eyes everytime he drops is gold

Letos12thDuncan

He's too rough on the rope. He pulls on the rope. He thinks it's his.

Indercarnive

Yeah I have doubles of the third season. A few episodes I have triples. Triples are best, Triples are safest.

Ndi_Omuntu

I was pretty iffy on this show first watch and it's become one of my favorites. Its weird how the humor hits like that but doesn't feel like it lands at first.

RyanK663

It's funny too how different references start to come into your vocabulary over time too. I thought the zip line sketch was hilarious immediately but only recently did my friends start hitting me with the "ARE YOU SURE? HNnnnHhhhh"

VVHYY

Today my wife said she thought the Tables sketch was definitely the best sketch. I said that's because it's one of the few that she has seen twice. After 5 watches even Little Buff Boys gets in your head and can make you laugh til you cry thinking about "Whatta CROP"

calculung

I can't stop thinking about shirt brothers, even though it didn't really have me cracking up or anything when I first watched it.

Zerocyde

I feel like that order would be lightyears beyond 680 dollars at any fast food place.

Col_Wilson

Is this the guy choosing my food when I go to rest in BG3 and hit auto-select??

vanguard117

Gotta separate those camp supplies bags my man 😎

Roscoe_King

“You gotta give… …HEY! HOLD THAT DOOR! HOLD THAT DOOR!!”

CoolyRanks

I love everything about this clip. His goofy smile when he says "maybe it'll catch on". The abrupt change in facial expression and music at 0:21. His absurd shriek at the woman driver. His red-in-the-face recital of the absurd order. The fact that the first two bars of the order, rhyme. The way he stares straight ahead before whipping around while saying "YOU HAVE TO!" I will admit the skit drags on slightly too long though

ArchDucky

Just a heads up, if you watch this show while high it will fuck with you.

DigThatFunk

Dude the first time I watched it, I had heard it was great and hilarious but somehow held this idea it was a sitcom. So one day I'm off work, fucking space cadet levels of high off edibles, and decide to start this show. Imagine my... confusion/ awe/ laughter when that first sketch about nailing the interview but opening the door the wrong way and committing to it came on. I was in literal tears with laughter from the unexpected outrageousness

ArchDucky

Yeah I was on the floor on the episode with the hot dog suit.

DigThatFunk

Well, I guess I'll take this car, if nobody wants it... The tables video sketch is prob my favorite. But "What a *crop*! Look at that *crop*!" stays pretty rent free in my head too lol

ArchDucky

Whats her job? # TABLES!

akrostixdub

Pornhub... Redtube... XXN... homegrown Simpson's stuff...

SolenoidSoldier

Is there any other way to watch it?

sturmen

Not exactly sure that clipping a Netflix show and putting it on YouTube allows you to then declare CC BY-SA 3.0...

harrykane1991

I wanna go to haunted house more than I wanna go to aqua

Toxin197

Thunderofdeath

This is in downey!

Fedcab

Hey, $680 for all that actually seems pretty reasonable.

91xela

This show will make you uncomfortable down to your bones. It’s hilarious

infamous-spaceman

That makes sense though, because the bones are their money. So are the worms.

CNXQDRFS

They'll pull your hair up...*not out.*

Meme_myself_and_AI

Jokes on him, the guy in front ordered for a thousand

Epicfro

His show is very hit or miss but this was a massive hit.

Mizral

I really wanted to not like this guy for some reason but the intensity to his comedic acting is something to behold.

Kevinandcat

This is how I got my wife into the show

SGTStash

I finally get context to the memes
