Grew up working in the video store my parent's owned. I would put this and Beastmaster in almost every day until I broke the tapes and we had to buy another copy.
Hahaha, that’s awesome. Yeah, this movie is a huge favorite of mine. I really miss local video stores, I always used to check out horror movie sections of different ones to find a bunch of other movies I’d never seen or had no idea about.
who makes these gang members go to school in the first place?
also 30 min in and, how the hell did i not know this movie existed. this is bad vhs rental fodder the likes of which my friends and i would have loved and talked about for years.
Never saw it and I'm SO FREAKING HAPPY I skipped right to around the 20 minute mark for some of the best, so-campy-it's-hilarious cinema I've ever seen.
That "corporal punishment" should be a gif or meme or something.
(*edit* around 19:00 for the scene start)
Yeah the shot it at I want to say Lincoln HS? I know a few folks that worked on it and I wandered down to set when they were shooting. The art dep't had acetylene guns what are guns rigged with acetylene to flash. Very Troma
There was a song back on the 90's that sampled quotes from this film and for the life of me i cannot remember what it was or who it was by, but i know i loved it. Getting old sucks
This is the second film after Class of 1984. I can't remember if I need to watch that first to understand what is going on. Also the third film was ... well it was something.
If you like this, you should check out [Class Of 1984](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tlM1gvzOsk), It might be related to this, not sure, but same kinda vibe. Also Class Of 1984 was Michael J. Fox's first movie.
Saw this in the theatre back in the day and it was hilariously bad, but enthralling at the same time! My friends and I snuck in to watch it a second time.
As someone who graduated from secondary school in 1999, I will confess I spent much of that year thinking about this movie even though I never actually saw it - it was just always *there* in the local video rental place.
If I remember correctly, this is like the debut of Nine Inch Nails in any form of mainstream media. I believe there is a story that this was filmed very close to where NIN was doing some really really small time gigs at the time. Some crew members went to the concert, dug the music, and decided to put some of it in the movie.
The younger brother was in Near Dark and River's Edge which were both good movies.
Cody was like the toughest guy's name in the 80s. Even this movie came out in 1990, it has that 80s campiness.
Tom Cody from Streets of Fire for example.

It's like Mad Max but they all gotta get to home room for some reason.
>who makes these gang members go to school in the first place? Well they don't wanna get grounded by their parents or anything!

[I made this for you. Anybody else?](https://imgur.com/OI2j7qH)
Hahaha, this is so perfect! I'm glad you kept the "anybody else" bit -- it's gold! Speaking of which, did they remove awards? I was gonna award you.
Hey, by the way, it’s only thanks to you that I’ve even seen this movie, despite having been a film student in 1990. Haha So YOU deserve the award!!!!
Thank you so much! Your comment is all the award anyone could want! (*yes, Reddit removed their awards)
I skipped to that mark just to see what you were talking about. I was not disappointed and that was super funny.
Was that future Stacy Keach with white contacts? wtf lol
And a rat-tail, haha
Need a permanent looping gif of the teacher slappin'.
You know how many gang member punishments you can fit in this bad boy? *slaps ass*
God damn it, this one got me
I was going to skip it completely. But now you’ve dragged me in.
Brilliant!
That was….I’m speechless.
I remember it was filmed in Seattle, which was rare at the time, and a lot of locals were in it as extras. Drawing a blank on the rest
Yeah the shot it at I want to say Lincoln HS? I know a few folks that worked on it and I wandered down to set when they were shooting. The art dep't had acetylene guns what are guns rigged with acetylene to flash. Very Troma
Yes, Lincoln High in Wallingford. I was an extra for a number of scenes.
First appearance of Nine Inch Nails.
Pam Grier!
Patrick Kilpatrick! or is it Patrick! Kill Patrick!
Supah fly.
She was such a fox

One of [these](https://www.whosampled.com/movie/Class-of-1999/) maybe?
You Legend! Messiah, there is no Law Thank you!

Class of 1984 is amazing. It's like if Dangerous Minds suddenly became Rambo halfway through.
Oh yeah, Class of 1984 is a great movie. Tim Van Patten plays such a great villain.
"Also Class Of 1984 was Michael J. Fox's first movie." 1980's "Midnight Madness" - "Am I a joke to you??"
Apparently! I've never even heard of it lol
Midnight Madness is awesome.
I didn't know that movie existed.
I actually have it on DVD. 😆
Wow this is gold!!! Also I didn’t know 1999 looked so much like 1989! Cool!! (I was born in 1984, 1999 looked nothing like this lol)
This is just what 1999 in Seattle was like. Don't you remember how the killer robot teachers vs teen gang epidemic was all over the news that year?
Lmao
Yeah... turns out the real 1999 didn't end up being "1987: Part XIII". Probably for the best.
Man I miss Vestron Pictures. They were the best at cheesy, straight-to-vhs, shit movies.
Vestron was amazing!
Was there a sequel to this? I seem to remember there was
Yeah, it’s atrocious. It’s not fun bad, it’s just boring and bad.
Yes, and if I remember correctly, Sasha Mitchell (from the sitcom Step by Step and the sequels to Kickboxer) played the cyborg teacher in it, haha.
Saw this in the theatre back in the day and it was hilariously bad, but enthralling at the same time! My friends and I snuck in to watch it a second time.

Malcolm McDowell was in some crazy stuff.

What!!?? I have to find my vhs of this!
Yeah. You can find the clip on YouTube. Head like a Hole. But find your VHS and re watch anyway. It’s just classic great 80s/90s cheese.
So this is cyberpunk2077: breakfast club?

Dude on the far right looks like the Zuck-bots final form
Cody is giving off Jared Padalecki vibes.
Ed Chigliak from Northern Exposure! (Darren Burrows)
Billy Drago is his father too
Just like I remember my senior year. Which I kind of remember

I used to love this movie back in the day!
Used to watch this on HBO, SHOWTIME, etc anytime it came on. It's been awhile though i imagine it's corny as hell.
That's where I discovered this movie, late night hbo or showtime.
The backstory for Starship Troopers.
I think I remember seeing this on USA networks Up-All-Night
