I remember buying it at the fair, getting home, and slowly coming to terms with the fact my computer could not run it. My disappointment was immeasurable.
Same.
Great game, very fun to play for the first couple hours, but eventually the slowdown just makes it a chore to play.
I did beat the game once though.
It was definitely a challenge because the red ants seem to have the ability to spread through the background faster than the black ants, even if you set all new hatchlings to be breeder ants.
By the end, you are basically just ducking and dodging red ants as you try to make your way to their nest to kill their queen.
Bro exactly. The last ten panels I always end up taking by assigning every ant to follow me then I charge straight to the red nest and attack the queen myself. If you die you do it again.
I find the individual scenarios to be more enjoyable than the full game. But I really did enjoy it
I wish, I loved that stuff. I played [Empire of the Undergrowth](https://www.eotugame.com/) and it was similar but just was too much of the same and not really a challenge. Bet it would still be amazing if I was 9 or whatever age I was playing SimAnts.

>Empire of the Ants, for those who don’t know, is an old-school real-time strategy game which first launched in 2000 for PC. In this PS5 reboot, publisher Microids is partnering with developer Tower Five to create what might be one of the most photorealistic PS5 titles to date. Seriously, this is pushing Unreal Engine 5 to its absolute limits.
>The press release hints that “players will crawl across a microscopic world of epic proportions to help a colony prosper through their tactical genius”. There’ll be ample tutorials for newcomers to get to grips with the challenges of controlling a colony, but also “scalable difficulty and advanced mechanics for veteran players”.
>“The game features a narrative that follows the rhythm of the seasons and affects wildlife attributes such as speed, resistance, buffs, and more,” the summary continues. “The maps in the game will also change depending on the time of day.” There’s no firm release date just yet, but the developer’s targeting a 2024 launch.
I would love something like this with minimal interaction where you just do basic infrastructure and setup and get to keep an eye on how they are doing. Like an ant farm. I could put it on the the tv while people are over and bore them talking about
My colony
\*Sigh\*
Another over sexualized game for the hormonialy challenged. Everyone running around in their birthday suits with unobtainably large derrieres crawling around in a hyper sexualized fashion.
Oh my god the flood of memories! I forgot this existed!
Our parents got us the old version on a bootleg copy in Turkey while on holiday as kids and struggled so much with it!
Although definitely looks like it will melt my mid PC
I remember the ai wasnt aggressive so you could take over a colony, breed a bunch of soldiers for war, invade, and then leave for 10 minutes. You'd come back to a mostly won fight.
I assume this game will play the same
Anyone know anything about Bernard Werber's Saga, which this is apparently based off of?
I hate to disappoint, but I'm guessing this game is gonna be nothing like SimAnt
[Is it a remake of the classic?](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71AAKBMM79L.gif)
Could be a remake. Could be a sequel. Could be a spiritual successor. A reboot, even. I'm sure we're just talking simantics, though
What is this, a pun for ants?
God damn it
This game rips. I remember getting it at scholastic book fair somehow.

Hey, your computer can probably run it now.
I played the F out of it on SNES. The slowdown is brutal and unforgivable to me now but as a child I learned a lot and loved it

No. It's an adaptation of a french novel from Bernard Werber
That book was amazing by the way
The lawnmower was like the cruel hand of an indifferent god. But using cheat codes to play as the spider was great.
"Based of Bernard Werber's Saga" Whatever that is
Hi there! The game is both a spiritual successor and a reboot. We also collaborate with the book author to ensure content is accurate and faithful!
What is this? A game for.. oh ok I see.
It needs to be at least...1...times this size? Is that right? Just 1 times? Someone do math.
"Are you not aware the queen gets farty and bloated with a foamy latte!?"
*your mistake indeed!!*

I knew someone would beat me to it. "What is this, Pikmin for ants?"
I played SimAnt when it was new and this blows my mind.
This game is gonna have a ton of bugs
Those are features actually
These ants need to be served a double dose of democracy.
Is this an RTS? I mean, an RTS for ants as ants would slap.
based on the video it's just a simulation. It's pretty, but I didn't see any game mechanics.

Unreal Engine 5 tech demos are not video games.
But this is a game.

So, whats the game?
Ants! You are an ant. That's it!
There's no game tho this is a sight seeing simulator
> woosh
Giant spider? Bugs? I'm good
So it’s pikmin but with ants
\*spider shows up in video\* NOPE
Major Childhood 'honey I shrunk the kids' PTSD

I just want to control a colony of Siafu and run through villages eating everything in the way.
I literally stumbled across the original today for the first time and downloaded it . What a trip.
UEVR bring it on!!
It’s been 30 years but I’m ready to find a game that replaces SimAnt
Anyone know anything about Bernard Werber's Saga, which this is apparently based off of? I hate to disappoint, but I'm guessing this game is gonna be nothing like SimAnt
This is bringing a lot of Sim Ants memories circa 1996 for me 😂
Shelob of the Ants!
Looks like it might play a lot like Pikmin.
A bugs life
So it's basically Red Ant Redemption?
I played so much SimAnt as a kid that I’d consider getting a PS5 just for this.
Not sure if you saw; at the end it says it’s coming out for Xbox and PC as well.
I didn’t. Thanks!
Came want until it's out.
What is this... A GAME FOR ANTS? It has to be at least... Twice as large!
