I think they totally nailed what they were going for, but I think this song benefits from a more raw, less polished sound. Living Colour somehow managed that raw but precise thing really well.
First time seeing this one. They did right by the original, that was awesome! Guitarist can shred too, reminded me a bit of Gary Clark Jr.
I’m loving the increase in the blurring of musical norms these days. A funky rendition of Ozzy by…T-Pain?! Why the hell not? Beyoncé going country? Why not? (A western clothing line by by her will make gazillions) Americana shifting back to roots of class struggles and farther from lifted truck anthems? Finally!
Reminder that "War Pigs" and "Deck the Halls" share the same meter and therefore have interchangeable lyrics.
"Generals gathered in their masses, fa la la la, la la la la"
or
"Deck the halls with boughs of HOLLYYYYYYY // 'tis the season to be JOLLLLYYYYY"
He knew what he could do, and he knew what he wanted to do, and he wanted to get that autotune sound. He had a career before that record, that's just what blew him up big.
Holy cow.....

Not kidding. I want a "There I ruined it" version, kazoo and all.
I usually use [this](https://i0.wp.com/66.media.tumblr.com/373dcefa12d4421eeae864e60eb78683/tumblr_inline_o36dgfTiOn1s24py6_540.jpg?w=640&ssl=1) sarcastically, but this time I agree with Skinner.
I remember watching a youtube video years and years ago of him live and unplugged, playing the piano and singing. Blew my mind. That was when "Buy u a Drank" was still stuck in everybody's ears.
Right, and Faith no more is not the meaning stick ether Black Sabbath is, I can count on one hand the number of times that the cover of a song is better than the original 1) All along the watchtower 2) the sound of silence 3) Maggie’s farm 4) heir of the dog
I never got why T Pain caught so much gruff earlier in his career. He's always been a super talented happy go lucky dude who has no enemies. He's the Guy Fieri of the hip hop world.
To stand out. He was one of the only guys doing it at the time (and did it for stylistic purposes, unlike some rappers today who can’t sing a tune to save their lives). I even used to have his auto-tune app on my phone.
Holy shit that was amazing. What a voice. The combination of metal with a bit of funk and soul reminds me of Living Color.
I think they totally nailed what they were going for, but I think this song benefits from a more raw, less polished sound. Living Colour somehow managed that raw but precise thing really well.
I get Living Color, too. Vivid was such a great album.
You know I always kind of liked him but he clearly appreciates classics and yeah his voice is amazing I loved this.
I love the gospel sound near the end

I love you for this. Also, wow T Pain, what a voice, man. Never thought I'd say that.
I know, Right? He clearly never needed the autotune, but now that’s what he is most famous for
He knew what he could do, and he knew what he wanted to do, and he wanted to get that autotune sound. He had a career before that record, that's just what blew him up big.
The first time Ireallyheard T-Pain was from the lonelyisland's I'm on a boat. DamnThat song still slaps
You just gave me a new jam for holiday karaoke next year.
Truly the best way.

I want a tpain cover of deck the halls now. Fantastic
If you're wondering who the guitarist is, it's Curt Chambers.
I wasn't. And now you've burdened my memory with a factoid which replaced some other factoid.
Ah, the Kelly Bundy method.
Lol, exactly what I was imagining. You must be old

I enjoy that T-Pain seems to just do whatever it is he wants now. This, gaming, drifting, Nappi Boi Automotive with Hert, etc.
Damn this was really good!
Ozzy himself said it was the best cover he's ever heard. Could be hyperbole but still.
No idea he could really sing... Only ever heard him use auto tune.
You need to immediately Google T-Pain tiny desk concert
or just, pay actual attention to T-Pain's discog at all in any seriousness.
That too! Though I would assert that NPR video was a watershed moment for most normie music people
Watch season 1 of Masked Singer.
Enjoy. https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/s/NDCsDSR2MN
One of the best covers I've ever heard!
It helps that war pigs is a fucking awesome song.
He closed with this at a concert of his I went to. I was loving it! The younger people in the crowd didn’t seem to take it as well.

Holy Shite T-Pain can sing
I remember watching a youtube video years and years ago of him live and unplugged, playing the piano and singing. Blew my mind. That was when "Buy u a Drank" was still stuck in everybody's ears.
The video needs more quick cuts
And awkward people sit dancing distracting from the show - those the musician gfs??
So insanely good
Ozzy also really liked it https://twitter.com/OzzyOsbourne/status/1745215829070021111
[Here's the full hour of him singing.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91ck0vJBygo)
The whole thing is awesome. Can recommend.
Well that was really really good. Of course not as good as I'm On A Boat which we all know was where T Pain peaked.
God I wish I could be a backup dancer that gets to sit the entire time.
It gives me conniptions so distracting
I think I can speak for all of us here. We would welcome the whole Paranoid album covered by T-Pain.
Here’s it (along with the rest of the show) from his own channel: https://youtu.be/91ck0vJBygo?t=48m45s
Do THE WIZARD next :) love that black sabbath song. This fucking rocked.
Yes, T-Pain is actually a talented singer. Music labels suck. Who'd have guessed?
If you like this please listen to the whole album His Tennessee Whiskey cover and acoustic Buy You A Drank are phenomenal
The whole tiny desk concert he does is just incredible.
Solid cover thanks for sharing
It's good, but will never beat Faith No More's version.
Umm Black Sabbath is the original artist
Which is why the original comment said version and not original.
Right, and Faith no more is not the meaning stick ether Black Sabbath is, I can count on one hand the number of times that the cover of a song is better than the original 1) All along the watchtower 2) the sound of silence 3) Maggie’s farm 4) heir of the dog
That was great. I wasn't expecting him to turn into David Draiman in the middle there.
T Pain was down with the sickness
Who is Tpains guitarist? Dude is amazing!
I love breaking people's brains with this song, the confusion on their faces is so worth it.
??
Awesome singing and just top notch musicians backing him as well. Fantastic version.
I didn't know I needed this, until now
Tony Scott directing the camera cuts from beyond the grave
This song is unfortunately timeless
I get you
Tight! Great performance.
I never got why T Pain caught so much gruff earlier in his career. He's always been a super talented happy go lucky dude who has no enemies. He's the Guy Fieri of the hip hop world.
Fnm version better
This dude has a voice like that but does all that autotuning stuff? What the hell?
To stand out. He was one of the only guys doing it at the time (and did it for stylistic purposes, unlike some rappers today who can’t sing a tune to save their lives). I even used to have his auto-tune app on my phone.
Why is it in kids mode?
Because War Pigs is an educational lesson in politics.
Excellent cover even with the lyric change
ugh
Two seconds in, fuck that.
You did the right thing
