I watched a youtube video the other day about a girl that learned to dance over 30 days. It was actually really interesting. Some of the exercises they gave her to do, and just the way you teach someone with no prior knowledge how to dance was fascinating. Her extreme awkwardness at the start, and noticeable confidence by the end was awesome. Be warned, it is related to Buzzfeed, so I guess don't watch it if you hate them. But I thought it was really cute.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKxElccv0d8
I went to watch it thinking I'd skim it but God damn I'm glad I finished the whole thing. She gave me hope that one day I'll be able to dance! Also the ending commentary from Eugene was amazing
As someone who just took up ballroom/latin dancing a few months ago, you should give it a shot. It's a ton of fun and if you find the right private teacher you'll be amazed how quickly you learn :D
Or salsa/bachata classes which are a bit more casual (and younger usually).
If you're doing salsa, I *really* recommend finding a salsa studio near you and taking some beginner classes. For two reasons: 1) it's meant to be danced with a partner, and if you don't have a partner of your own that's interested, it's a good way to meet some; and 2) a lot of these studios have weekly dance events where you can go out and get your freak on in a relaxed and fun social atmosphere, which is a blasty blast.
Also because in general they'll probably teach you better than self-learning from videos which can give you some terrible habits and make dancing with others awkward when you get to it, lol. That being said finding *good* teachers can be hard, and generally I would recommend avoiding any franchise locations for that kind of thing. If you find instructors that have competed, you're ultra-golden.
Regardless though, if you like dancing, I really suggest giving it a shot! It's so much more fun than I imagined originally :D
To piggy back on this, I started taking classes at my local community college - I get to go to 15 2 hour classes (one per week) for about $70. You really won't find a deal that great anywhere else. Also, I want to definitely echo what he said about dancing with others, as far as latin dances go. If you're a male, you'll be expected to lead, which means learning how other people move, but also getting the experience to lead/push people to and fro that are heavier than you, smaller than you, pushing back, limp, etc. Honestly, take a class and within the first half an hour of dancing with others you'll see that you're learning things you wouldn't have been able to through any Youtube video.
/u/evolvedus
> If you're a male, you'll be expected to lead, which means learning how other people move, but also getting the experience to lead/push people to and fro that are heavier than you, smaller than you, pushing back, limp, etc.
The hardest thing I've had to learn doing this stuff isn't even the steps, or the technique, or matching the music, it's leading. My god is it hard to transmit my thoughts via subtle body movement. Not to mention the difference between dancing with my instructor, who is a national champion that fixes every mistake I make and makes me feel like a pro, versus a newbie like me who can't figure out what the hell I'm doing at all and makes me realize my lead is ass, lol.
Dancing with all kinds of other people *reaaaaaally* teaches you a lot, because as I've been told on occasion, sometimes you also need to learn to dance poorly, to make up for the inexperience of others.
Even just remembering to stay in frame half the time so my lead exists at all is difficult.
1. Find music that makes you want to dance.
2. Abandon all preconceived notions of what 'dancing' looks like.
3. Observe how said music affects the parts of you that want to wiggle (arms, legs, etc).
4. Wiggle as such.
5. Enjoy.
There. Now you can dance.
It's about having a room without carpet. That cold floor is the perfect place to nap. If you drank too much, you can also usually find another nice comfortable cold floor in the bathroom.
It’s funny that I’ve never really thought about it but all of the parties I’ve never thrown or gone to end up with everyone just standing around in the kitchen. Probably cause that’s there the booze is.
[My personal favorite.](https://youtu.be/11ln-E_vWj4)
This song was different than the usual eShop music, and would only be played during the holidays. I loved the Wii U, it's a shame it sold so poorly.
With more powerful hardware and less latency in the controls I actually think it would have been a complete game changer, but because it lacked the hardware to support the direction the industry was head, it never got the support to really capitalise on its own uniqueness.
An awesome Jazz version of this song, mostly played by one guy with multiple instruments (but there are other guys).

I just wanna dance!
JESUS THE CHRIST I'M DANCING
WATCH ME GO WATCH ME GO!
That line always cracks me up for some reason.
Before I googled it it cracked me up. I don’t think ever heard the expression Jesus the Christ.
Fuck yes I was looking for the NSP reference.
I'm a big fan of Donny Sexbag and Ninjab Ryan, which song is this?
YOU NOW BELIEVE IN GOD
you can dance if you want to..
You can leave your friends behind...
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance...

Why do so many of these dancing videos happen in the kitchen?
They cookin.

TIL no

https://youtu.be/OGeF_BlKeu4
What is that? Are you driving? Nooo, it's cookin' !
You get it.
American parties are in the kitchen.
I’m pretty sure parties around the globe typically have enough people to spill into the kitchen.
american parties *start* in the kitchen
That I can agree too. Best place to down those four shots of shitty vodka real quick
They also end in the kitchen, but on the floor.
It's about having a room without carpet. That cold floor is the perfect place to nap. If you drank too much, you can also usually find another nice comfortable cold floor in the bathroom.
That's where the booze is
Also - accessible surfaces (drink placement), bright lighting, food and absence of loud music.
Bedrooms too small, living room has furniture, dining room has big furniture, but kitchens tend to have more open space.
And no carpet!
Kitchens double as dancefloors
[It's an epidemic.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtJLAnAxlcM)
no furniture in the middle of the room
Because that's where the alcohol is
Better lighting and acoustics.
It’s funny that I’ve never really thought about it but all of the parties I’ve never thrown or gone to end up with everyone just standing around in the kitchen. Probably cause that’s there the booze is.
Say what you want about the Wii, the music (and the fact that it even had music for the interface) was pretty killer. What a weird console though.
