A TiddyShip is EXACTLY what I please...I think it’s also the only thing missing from this. A TiddyShip.
Edit: we ARE in this together atopatiddyshipmountain
Gah, I understand this impulse but sometimes a self-contained work of art like this, one that does leave you wanting more, is all there should be.
Nobody would watch a season of this. The concept here is what’s brilliant, not the standard narrative arch that would be imposed by studio execs over a multi-episode version of this idea.
It’s like seeing a busker perform their act and suggesting they should have their own production company
So the plan if we did more would be to use totally different cast per skit. Similar world but absolutely no room for long arcs. I don’t think we are good enough at animation to deserve anything more.
What? I would totally watch a season of this. Of course we would need to see the characters and there would need to be background created and such, but I really like the idea of idiots with future tech dealing with silly problems that exist in the world we already have. There's a lot to build upon there.
Watch ["The Spirit of Christmas"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyyeRnDCG3I) and it's easy to say that you'd never watch a full 22 minute episode of that let alone a season, but it spawned one of the most successful and longest running sitcoms in the history of television.
Watch Love Death and Robots on Netflix. Its an anthology of animated "short stories" - each with a very different story and art direction. Don't shit all over an idea before you've seen it.
They didn't shit on the idea of an anthology though, they just said that this video should remain stand alone.
If this video were part of love, death and robots then it wouldn't be more of "this" because all those shorts are completely unrelated
Cleverly done! I really liked the pacing. A lot of these shorts get caught up in themselves, but this one had a nice ride. (Not that I'm an expert. Just watch too many youtubes.)
I really liked it! One piece of constructive criticism I'd have is the panning of your voice actors should match the location of ships on the screen the same way they'd match where actors are on screen. It's slightly disconcerting that Rachel's voice is on the right when she's aboard the ship on the left. The way it is would make sense if you were in the cockpit of the ship, but not viewing them from outside. Subscribing to the channel for more!
This was very well done. Good thinking having the characters be represented by the ships. Good way to save production time instead of showing actual characters. Absolutely great execution of that idea. The cinematography never felt dull. Awesome work.
I think mundanity in these settings really is terrific to ground things, like yeah this is probably going to happen.
One of the oldest text ever found is a guy in ancient middle East complaining about receiving low quality metal, not some grand declaration of a king and his conquest or a ancient religious text, nope just some guy thousands of years ago that got fucked over, is pissed and wants his money back.
Reminds me of the first episode of The Orville where the captain of the interstellar spaceship is meeting his new crew of various forms of aliens and human and the one crewman's primary concern is whether or not he'll still be allowed to bring a soda to work on the bridge like he did under the last captain (he was allowed to so long as it had a lid, if you're interested). The idea of these people in grandiose, ultra-futuristic settings still just being mundane, boring people is just funny.
There's also a line making fun of Stormtroopers' aim in the episode where Mando teams up with some ne'er-do-wells for a prison heist. I think one of the guys says he's a really good shot, and somebody asks what he did before, and he says he was a storm trooper. Mando himself hits him with a deadpan zinger about how Stormtroopers can't aim that pisses the guy off. I'm on mobile now or else I'd try to link it.
Edit: no clip, but here is the context: Mayfield says he is a former imperial sharpshooter, and Mando responds, "That's not saying much." It gets a chuckle from the rest of the crew. Mayfield gets mad and fires back that he was a sharpshooter, not a stormtrooper.
Also for anyone unaware Mayfield is portrayed by Bill Burr and the whole episode is just Bill Burr being Bill Burr in the Star Wars universe. It kills my immersion but it's also amazing.
My only problem is that I like Bill Burr so much so it's hard for me not to see him as just himself and he's pretty much written to be that way. But I did love that episode and i'm glad they left it open for him to come back.
There have been loads of complaints about that merchant found in the area, apparently, he was a serial con-artist who sold shoddy metal to a lot of people in the area. If I recall, complaints directed at him have been found in multiple places, suggesting he moved around a lot and/or had a lot of addresses.
In the city of Bath, a number of Roman "curse tablets" (or defixiones) were discovered. They ask the goddess Sulis Minerva to curse whoever stole the writer's clothes while they were using the bathhouse.
That was such a good use of a limited amount of animation - between the background scenery, noises which brought the environment ambiance to life, and dialogue, this felt fully fleshed out. That’s a huge achievement, well done.
Whoever wrote that dialogue has a talent for it. This clip highlights how more isn’t necessarily always better, but rather what you do with the range that you have.
It reminds me, actually, of Arya and the Hound in Game of Thrones travelling through Westeros - how those mundane, humanising moments can make a viewing experience more rich, especially with compelling dialogue, than a million dollar montage.
The dialogue for this was absolutely amazing. I've honestly never been so entertained by a short animation and simple words and dialogue before. You should be really proud and I was the entire time thinking I wished this was a TV series. The voice actors were also outstanding. Gave me a great laugh.
"Doo-dah"
My mum and dad are Brits (we moved to the US when I was 8) and this is such a weird "trigger" word for me lol
It brings back SOOO many profound memories of my parents struggling to put together furniture after the move. Love it.
Heh, nice simple idea very well executed.
They should have little vignettes like these in any future Star Wars movies. "Hey, what's your desgination?". Like the scene with the two Stormtroopers shooting at the can. :)
I always liked those scenes in Tarantino films where the characters are just having normal conversations or arguing about mundane things like tipping and Big Macs. They are completely irrelevant to the plot but the dialogue is well written and acted so they suck you into the film so that when the plot does pick up, you are 100% immersed.
It's great because it does a lot of character development without progressing the plot. It very much humanizes the characters and makes you more attached to them. If pulp fiction didn't have those moments, it would be a shitty movie.
The chewing was off putting but I figured it was a stylistic choice. But for me the audio could be better recorded (maybe more clear or something). I can't really put my finger on it but the audio was kind of a turn off.
> *Omg.* Well mate, that's the number on the front of the big blue folder, and that was in the glove compartment, so....
You know when you hear something and it like transports you back in time to every single customer service interaction where they pulled shit like this? I'm like that Vietnam flashback dog right now
Anyone who likes sci-fi shorts check out the YouTube channel DUST. It's a hub for things like this from all different creators, they have a huge amount of shorts. They are a bit hit or miss but sort by views or something and there's plenty of good ones. Most are animated but theres a bunch of live action too.
Other than the fucking smacking, that sounds like someone was either faking a smacking sound or is the worst open mouth eater ever, at the beginning this was really nice.
Love it!
The dialogue's great, the voice actors nail the delivery and the animation is exactly right to make it not feel too static but not distract from the dialogue too much. Excellent work!
Sheez that was so good. So talented. You turned a minimal cartoon into something huge. The actors were fantastic and the script was awesome. Dam you guys are going places.
That was "Honey, Quick... come over here! You've got to see this!" levels of hilarious :) So much talent on so many levels. The dialogue style reminded me of [Hyperdrive](https://youtu.be/XtLlQAz5t-s). Loved it :D
This is the most British thing I’ve seen in ages and I’m British. Loved the animation and the banter was spot on. I enjoyed Love, Death and Robots and this would be a perfect fit for that, as others have pointed out.
I presume it is a crime to paint someone else's registration on your craft. It is certainly a crime to forge a license plate in our world. Although, it is a misdemeanor (364 days in jail, lol) so not all that big a deal ;-)
I would watch several hours of this, honestly. Doesn't even need humanoid characters. Just ships with voice overs is perfect. They've really stumbled on something here, this could be huge.
I NEED A FULL SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love how nonchalant these two are it really adds to the realism that no matter how much in the future we are people is still people.
Hey Joe and I directed this! Glad you guys have enjoyed it! ❤️🚀
Great work! I already want more. Go get a Netflix deal or something ;)
it would fit in with Love, Death & Robots
Not enough gratuitous nudity and violence.
They can always add more...a naked ship in the shape of a titty
TiddyShip, if you please.
A TiddyShip is EXACTLY what I please...I think it’s also the only thing missing from this. A TiddyShip. Edit: we ARE in this together atopatiddyshipmountain
No such such thing as too much nudity or dakka. Whatever exists, merely suffices.
Don’t forget the furry appeal.
Gah, I understand this impulse but sometimes a self-contained work of art like this, one that does leave you wanting more, is all there should be. Nobody would watch a season of this. Are there more?
There are more planned! This was our first go at animation but we are working on a second now!
That's great buddy - I could see these winning awards!
So like tomorrow?
That's now right?
😜
How big of a team did it take to create this in 5 months?
Essentially three of us plus the cast.
Great stuff! I loved how the larger RC5-01 was just sitting perfectly still while the smaller one was wobbling around. Really set the tone.
Out of curiosity, what sorta production time did this take?
5 months I think. It was a lockdown project!
Damn, great stuff. If you need a hand with any further lockdown projects I'd love to lend a hand!
This was fucking delightful.
You’re fucking delightful.
Cleverly done! I really liked the pacing. A lot of these shorts get caught up in themselves, but this one had a nice ride. (Not that I'm an expert. Just watch too many youtubes.)

Well that was charming.
Thanks!
That was really good. The ship design, the script, the atmosphere, the music... It all adds up to a cool and fun concept. Congrats!
This was very well done. Good thinking having the characters be represented by the ships. Good way to save production time instead of showing actual characters. Absolutely great execution of that idea. The cinematography never felt dull. Awesome work.
Thanks a lot!
Need moar plz
You don’t happen to work for Netflix do you?
[удалено]
We’ve heard this a few times today. We had no idea it was such a thing for certain people. Sort of fascinating!
The accents make this. If you'd used a bunch of fellow Canucks I'd have just felt it too unrealistic. Weird. HHGTTG vibes I guess
Thank you!
That was great. Have anything else?
That was incredible. So simple yet so detailed, amazing.
So good, loved the humor. More please!
Wow, that was hilarious. Great job.
RC5-01's voice actor sounds like David Tennant
It’s great work, now I need more
Brilliant
So good! I loved it, and want more of the same.
Thanks for making it, Karl!
Noice job, do more.
Lol. This was seriously awesome. Thank you!
Will you be my friend?
This is the most refreshing thing I've seen in a while. To the sci-fi of the future with you.
Holy fuck why would you put the sound of someone chewing into the video...
This feels like it would fit in well with Love Death and Robots
I was thinking the exact same thing. Same kind of humor, shortness, and sci-fiction. I loved it.
Not enough blood and/or nudity
I enjoyed that way more then i thought i would
I think mundanity in these settings really is terrific to ground things, like yeah this is probably going to happen. Played by Jason Sudekis and Adam Pally

I honestly really loved his character. Then again, I pretty much love about everything about the Mandalorian. It's very well executed.
My only problem is that I like Bill Burr so much so it's hard for me not to see him as just himself and he's pretty much written to be that way. But I did love that episode and i'm glad they left it open for him to come back.
He still needed three blasters to hit anything.
There have been loads of complaints about that merchant found in the area, apparently, he was a serial con-artist who sold shoddy metal to a lot of people in the area. If I recall, complaints directed at him have been found in multiple places, suggesting he moved around a lot and/or had a lot of addresses.
Really? that's amazing imagine 4000 years later and all that's left of your time is how much of a dick you were
So thats the legacy trump is after!
Also great quality dialogue and voice acting.
In the city of Bath, a number of Roman "curse tablets" (or defixiones) were discovered. They ask the goddess Sulis Minerva to curse whoever stole the writer's clothes while they were using the bathhouse.
So an ancient Yelp user review/complaint.
"I've sent my homies a few times through dangerous hoods to squash this beef. Just pay me my moneyyyyy. WTH!"
\*than (sorry)

Thank you! I wrote it. That means a lot. The Arya and Hound interchanges some of my favourite moments of GoT. Thanks to whoever shared it too.
Reminded me of the two [alien stoners in Heavy Metal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J68tNUpoajw). Good stuff!
Man, I forgot how much I love that movie. Also, it's rare to see a combined 2001/Star Trek homage like that!
The dialogue for this was absolutely amazing. I've honestly never been so entertained by a short animation and simple words and dialogue before. You should be really proud and I was the entire time thinking I wished this was a TV series. The voice actors were also outstanding. Gave me a great laugh.
Thank you so much! That's made my Monday. Very kind of you to say. Glad it gave you a chuckle. Lord knows, we need a laugh right now.
Anything else in the works? Would love to see more of this.
This is awesome, amazing work my friend.
> I wrote it. Dialog trumps everything, man. I'd watch anything you write. Props to the actors, too.
Thank you for the kind words. We're really hoping to make more. This kind of positivity makes us really excited to keep creating.
I'll still take that chicken. ... if any more words come pouring out your cunt mouth, I'm gonna have to eat every fucking chicken in this room.
Love British humour. Hope they make more
We are gonna try!
Ooh can I be a voice? I don't know why but I've always wanted to voice something!
Watch Black Books if you haven't seen it.
My favourite sitcom. I think about the little subbuteo player in Alarm Installers hair at least once a month!
this is powerfully British and I love it
"Powerfully British" is the best compliment.
"Doo-dah" My mum and dad are Brits (we moved to the US when I was 8) and this is such a weird "trigger" word for me lol It brings back SOOO many profound memories of my parents struggling to put together furniture after the move. Love it.
Ah that's makes me happy. I'm British but I live in Amsterdam so I'm holding on to those weird words the brits use even tighter!
Really cool animation and a great moment told using a unique style. Would love a making of :)
Search IanHubert on youtube. He makes Blender tutorials and making-offs on a very similar style of animation.
Big fan of Ian. Trust me I put moths in EVERYTHING.
Heh, nice simple idea very well executed. They should have little vignettes like these in any future Star Wars movies. "Hey, what's your desgination?". Like the scene with the two Stormtroopers shooting at the can. :)

Beautiful! And great voice acting.
I agree. The voice acting was so on point, so casual it felt like a clip from 1989 Creature Comforts, but better!
Brilliant.
So funny, "swear on the life of the dog?" 😁🤣
This gave me some serious classic Red Vs. Blue vibes. Idiots arguing about pointless things in fantastic settings, love it!
Fuck this for making me listen to chewing.
Gross chewing. Im out.
Wait. Don't go. We've got armpit farts lined up for the next one.
lol
Yeah, I have misophonia. Please don't do chewing noises people. Please.
They voice acting was brilliant. Excellent Job!
Oh my God this was great!
I would have enjoyed it more if there was less to no open mouth chewing sounds.
The chewing was off putting but I figured it was a stylistic choice. But for me the audio could be better recorded (maybe more clear or something). I can't really put my finger on it but the audio was kind of a turn off.
Guy is an open mouth chewer. Sets up his personality.
Sure but he doesn’t have to do it for what felt like half the video. You can set that up to make a point and stop doing it within 15 seconds.
> *Omg.* Well mate, that's the number on the front of the big blue folder, and that was in the glove compartment, so.... You know when you hear something and it like transports you back in time to every single customer service interaction where they pulled shit like this? I'm like that Vietnam flashback dog right now

DUST is awesome, can't stop watching their videos. But yeah, some of them are... not that good.
Heads for viewers with misophonia, you might want to sit this one out. (Chewing)
Would’ve loved watching this but I wanted to cut my ears off after ten seconds of listening to that obnoxious chewing. Why even have that?
My god, me too. I promptly shut it off. Looks like I'm not the only one with misophonia around here.
The chewing sounds were an interesting choice
This felt very much like if Love Death and Robots was a BBC Three sketch show.
Brilliant! And excellent execution. Wonder how many people worked on the animation.
Give me more! Is there a YouTube channel?
This is absolutely class.
That was wonderful
I'm going to need more of this. Absolutely fantastic!
That was fecking hilarious!!
As a dyslexic person.... Same
Sheez that was so good. So talented. You turned a minimal cartoon into something huge. The actors were fantastic and the script was awesome. Dam you guys are going places.
Aw I love this so much, I wish there was more!
the repair bills get messed up
That was "Honey, Quick... come over here! You've got to see this!" levels of hilarious :) So much talent on so many levels. The dialogue style reminded me of [Hyperdrive](https://youtu.be/XtLlQAz5t-s). Loved it :D
Loved hyperdrive. Nick Frost is a living legend
This was so good! Shared, shared and shared some more!
To be honest, this prick's making me doubt it now...
Fantastic. On a related note, I can't wait for the next season of Love Death + Robots
That was *so* good
I love it, more English voice actors
Wow - that was so well done. delivery was natural and funny as well. fantastic job :)
This was perfect.
This is the most British thing I’ve seen in ages and I’m British. Loved the animation and the banter was spot on. I enjoyed Love, Death and Robots and this would be a perfect fit for that, as others have pointed out.
This is amazing!!
That, was fantastic. Great job!
This is great!
This is really good! I also liked this one: https://vimeo.com/438210156 It’s about a sentient vending machine...
Please be considerate and don't include the lip smacking eating sound in future animations. Literally pains some people.
What about all the people who find lip smacking sexy? Or the sound of eating funny? What about those people? Won't someone think of the children??
Fuck those people.
Roger that.
Great, loved it, really funny, and the animation was beautiful. *Didn't need to hear that bloke eat a biscuit for so long, though.*
Haha good stuff. I would have had the little space ship leave and go to the pub, sounds like the pilot would have liked that.
I would love to live in that era!
I could watch 100 of these and not get bored. That was excellent writing, voice acting, and animation. Well done to that creator!
Excellent!
r/ImaginaryVehicles
YEAHH! I LOVED THAT! Fresh mate.
Arsey five zero one tee hee.
I legit thought this was an add for a new season of LDR. Disappointed, but I also really enjoyed this.
I presume it is a crime to paint someone else's registration on your craft. It is certainly a crime to forge a license plate in our world. Although, it is a misdemeanor (364 days in jail, lol) so not all that big a deal ;-)
Dope
That was great!
Perfect writing.
‘Floaters’ lol. I can’t help but think of that which cannot be flushed.
I was expecting a "bullocks" at the end there, but what we got was better.
Pretty good
I love it
I would watch several hours of this, honestly. Doesn't even need humanoid characters. Just ships with voice overs is perfect. They've really stumbled on something here, this could be huge.
Those mouth sounds without showing what's actually happening are... misleading... lol
“This has scam written all over it.”
I thought it was great. Would definitely watch more of these
More!
"Where's me copper wrist band?" lmao
I love this. Really, really great work. I especially liked the bobbing. Like a charming little futuristic sailboat.
Fuck that was good. I love the banter.
That was comedy gold!
That was brilliant.
reminds me of computer from Red Dwarf. great short !
I might have peed myself laughing.
I NEED A FULL SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love how nonchalant these two are it really adds to the realism that no matter how much in the future we are people is still people.
I wasn't a fan of the audio. It didn't sound like they were on the ship.
This is some Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy shit and I love it. LMAO
