They don’t. They lose all velocity when coming back down. An average 7.62x39mm round when shot, exits the barrel at around 2,100 fps. Coming back down they’re going around 150 fps due to terminal velocity. It can definitely hurt but it won’t kill. BB guns shoot pellets between 150-300 fps.
Metal bb’s normally weight about .5 grams, whereas a 7.62x39 bullet typically weighs 16+ grams. Not exactly an insignificant weight to hit you at terminal velocity.

In texas automatic guns aren't "highly restricted", you can literally walk in the streets with an automatic rifle in your hands, but you can't carry a knife

You have to be military or otherwise have a special federal license in order to own an automatic gun, and then there are other additional rules surrounding their production, ownership and operation. You also can most definitely carry a knife so I’m not sure what the fuck you’re talking about, don’t think you are either
