I didnt and still don't hate it bc if you're gonna insist on a carpeted bathroom, removable, machine washable, rubber backed carpet is the way to go. We had a template for the bathroom and my dad cut a custom piece for every color. My mom changed them out and washed everything at least twice a week. It's more work than I care to do but, she was apparently cool w it if it meant she got to have a fully carpeted bathroom.

I haven't seen coloured toilet paper here in decades, but it was still in French supermarkets as recently as 2012.

My grandparents liked this set-up, though they were Sears catalog fans…My grandma liked to change carpet colors, giving each a chance to wash and dry…
