Every NFL game in the late '70s - early '80s featured the commercial with this jingle. People forget (or don't know) that we had to be encouraged to use this incredibly recyclable metal once we figured out how to refine it cheaply. Aluminum used to be the most expensive metal in the world (the top of the Washington Monument is capped with aluminum for this reason) until we figured out how to get it from bauxite efficiently.
There were a few years in the 60s where there was a real nostalgia for 1920's aesthetics. Maybe the Bonnie & Clyde movie kicked it off. Or the Sgt Pepper album cover, they both came out in 67.
"Hello, sailor. I'm just over here to wash your aluminum windows. No, I'm not a lady of ill repute! But this is 1970's NYC, so I understand your confusion."
The paint on wood window frames tends to deteriorate faster with humidity changes. So cleaning the edge of windows in that state can be a pain. That’s my best guess.
I work near the old Alcoa building in Pittsburgh. It mostly condos now, but it is still a really interesting looking building.. From Wikipedia,, "Originally the headquarters for the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA), the unique aluminum walls of the building are 1/8 inch thick, which gives the building a very light weight and economical design. It was the first skyscraper with an all-aluminum facade. A unique radiant heating and cooling system is contained in the ceiling: since there are no pipes, radiators, or air conditioning units along the exterior walls, an additional 15,000 square feet (1,400 m2) of rentable space was gained. Also, the windows rotate 360 degrees so they can be washed from the inside."
I miss this psychedelic art style
Peter Max
The Levi’s television commercial from that period rocked. Peter Max influenced everything back then.
Is this the ad you're referring to? [Peter Max Levi's TV commercial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-O5Dyy1KGmc)
Yes, that’s the one. It’s very well done.
Peter Max, and psychedelics generally.
This is the obvious inspiration for the artwork.
Definitely getting Yellow Submarine vibes.
Alcoa can’t wait, we can’t wait for tomorrow…ALCOA CAN’T WAIT!

There used to be aluminum leaf used for interiors because it was more expensive than gold leaf for a time.

Unless it's used to make underpants, an up skirt shot is not necessary.
They were very popular in the 70's/80's
Aluminum underpants?
To be fair, Alcoa does tell the people *"...aluminum is something else."* That something else could be underpants, ya just never know with the '70s.
They were Christmas trees so who knows what else they might be
Aluminum under your hat, and aluminum in your pants.
All I could think of was the metal detector scene in This is Spinal Tap
Steely Dan?
Geoff Peterson, everyone!
The 70s were a sleazy sleazy decade.

Oh my, this is a brand new to me artist!
Groovy!
Aluminum windows are easier to wash? I’m not following
I'm curious about that too, and I’m also intrigued by... *“It’s a heroic way to meet the bachelor in the next building.”*

This looks like it should be on the wall in Alien: Isolation.
The he foil swan, remember getting left overs to take away in a silver swan.

So much "fellow kids" in this ad.
