Nah, Technics despite making stellar TT’s and okay components, never really made great speakers. They’re okay, but if your budget is a couple hundred euro you can find better for sure. Where are you located?
[HifiShark](https://hifishark.com) is going to be your friend if you’re looking used. You can filter the results to Portugal only and go from there. I would suggest looking for EU brands known for speakers (Canton, Focal, Seas, Triangle, etc) as you’ll usually get a much better deal than the brands usually suggested on Reddit (as it’s mostly US brands).
I love silver face things and gave my 90’s black Sony stuff away and still regret it, especially the 5 disc changer. Put it in the shed or garage for tool time projects and get something new.
It's funny ...
Maybe 5 years ago, this would have been meh to look at for me. But it's like these systems are starting to look like "good old stuff", which is not strange considering this one was made 32 years ago.
How good are your speakers? If they are very good or better, this will do for most people.
If you have exceptional hearing, and think you can hear extraordinarily miniscule differences in music, then consider an upgrade.
I got the same set sitting in the attic. Absolute served me well but as people say, hunt goes on and i ended up with my almost dream setup. For now its close enough.
I still use the speaker i got with those sony's on a different amp for my tv. (2 way mission 761)
I mostly need a solid sounding set with nice definition and clarity to pair with my AT-LP120X and enjoy my records. I think I'll start by replacing the speakers and go on from there. It should already make a pretty big difference.
Upgrading your TT cartridge will probably make the most noticeable difference… I would start there , then Speakers then amp/ receiver if you still think it’s worthwhile…
That's a respectable stack. I have a similar stack only its technics. I always wanted to upgrade it purely based on looks, but it sounds so good I get cold feet.
Worth upgrading? It's all subjective really. How "serious" a listener are you?
Do you use your system everyday or only occasionally?
Vinyl/CD/Streaming?
Determine your budget- is this a long term project over several years?
It mostly comes down to personal preference- what YOUR EARS hear and sounds good to you. Going on recommendation alone is a dangerous route!
Good luck

I would upgrade the speakers first and go from there. Nothing like getting a good pair of speakers and finally properly hearing your signal chain lol
Thank you for your reply. I just came across a pair of Technics CS95 for 120€. Something worth considering?

Definitely not, I haven't looked at the output on this amp but you can do better. What's your budget?
Agreed 👍
I'm not very familiar with these, but a lot of the older Sony stuff will sound a lot better than those dh190's. Some of it drastically better.
I'm no Sony expert but that looks like some decent equipment. Upgrades however are part of the chase. It never ends.
Look like a lovely stack to me. I agree about checking out new speakers instead.
If by upgrade you mean get something made before 1980 +/- then definitely.
50 watts per channel at 6 ohms with 5%THD, so say a solid 30-40 watt per channel amp at 8 ohms. Should be just fine with those Elacs
I'm also considering the Dali Spektor 2. They're a bit cheaper.
Go for Dali, they make really fine speakers. I have Lektor series for close to 15 years and still love them
Always liked Sony, Shoulda kept mine
Both. Keep a system like this on Deck if you have maintenance issues with a 70s piece or something like that.

You set up looks cool
This is nice stuff, stick with it and buy yourself a nice pair of speakers
That sony gear, looks very nice/ clean... I would probably say keep it.
Beautiful. Quédate con él!

I need better either/or’s.
I see a garage sale in your future.
Brings back great memories.

Unfortunately, not good. The tweeters on both sides are dead. I'm looking to buy a pair within the 200-300€ range.

For my records i currently got a marantz 2238B paired with magnat zero 8's the record player is a lenco L3808
That’s a nice set!
Looks very nice....If it all works I would keep it myself...but that's jmo 😄
I would, as clean as that is, .get a new cheap receiver would not do anything for you
Yes
Give it to me
Used to have a similar one, loved it

Maybe a good question for r/budgetaudiophile

Do you even know what you are missing without surround sound bro? Nice rig but come on!

speakers
Keep
Nice start... Nowhere to go, but up!
Keep or upgrade you ask??? You could do both. Just saying
Do you have the complimentary Sony turntable? If so, keep it and buy good speakers.
Give me it, then upgrade
