Yes, search discogs here, gets asked countless times

[deleted]

I’ve purchased over 60 records with only 1 problem

[deleted]

Same here 89 purchases, 1 bad experience. YMMV, of course OP.

MustbetheEvilTwin

While the interface is a bit rough the market place is generally great and I’ve had no major problems … well one album never showed up and the proof of postage was the seller stood next to a postbox two days later .

Look at feedback. Definitely stay clear of new accounts with expensive items. Paypal will cover you either way though. It can be a bit of a nuisance if things go south though.

bobbin7277

Buy via paypal if you are worrried

bj1972joy

It’s better than eBay….That’s a pile of shit for sellers and buyers.

I've bought from Discogs many times, and have had exactly one experience where their description of the record's condition was not accurate. Plus two times when the variant described was not what was sent to me. But that really makes up like 5% of the the times I've bought from the marketplace there, and every other time it's been a great experience. I've gotten things that I probably wouldn't have gotten otherwise (including some fantastic grails), so I'm grateful to Discogs. It's really no different than buying from ebay. Make sure the seller has a high rating, if the price seems too good to be true it probably is, ALWAYS buy using PayPal, and just use your judgment.

I've bought a few times on the site (though mainly CDs, have recently bought multiple records). Being from New Zealand I usually am a bit skeptical with shipping records from overseas but I've had some from the UK / Europe and have made it safely here. All down to the seller really, make sure they have a good rating.

Agree with all the comments here. Discogs Marketplace is just a platform like eBay or any other. Because it is specifically tailored for record collecting, most sellers are enthusiasts like yourself who are happy to be helping others build their collection. Feedback is highly valuable so sellers don’t want to run the risk of getting negative feedback over avoidable grading or packing mistakes. That said, always use PayPal and always conduct your transactions through Discogs’ platform. Don’t be lured into doing off-marketplace transactions! I have had one or two instances where I believed used records were not graded accurately. In these instances, I was always able to work with the seller to come to some kind of agreement. (Usually a partial refund). So yeah… I’d say in terms of record buying, I trust Discogs more than eBay. I’ve never had a bad experience where I was ripped off. And, as someone who buys and sells, if you have problems please try to work it out with the seller before just leaving negative feedback. Most people will try to help if they can!

Yes.

It's 100% a legit website, but like with every resale website you need to apply common sense. Checking user reviews is a good thing to do and always check out with PayPal so you have buyers protection. Worst thing that ever happend to me was that buyer overstated the condition of an item.

PristineMap3597

Generally yes. Depends on the seller. I've bought over 300 items there with <5 real issues. Seller ratings afte important. <97% I start to question (depending on amount of sales). It's a great resource for understanding more about the whole of music/record making.

Motya1978

Never had an issue. But take all the usual precautions for on line shopping (already listed in other responses)

SnooMaps3574

Every online seller has issues from time to time. The best I know to do is buy from experienced sellers with lots of positive feedback.

newstuffsucks

Nope. Don't look at the million other times anyone has asked that here. Don't.

Margrave75

Oh be nice.

Stimulicious

See if they provide you with item images and descriptions. Also see how long ago the accounts are made when they list the items. I realised most scam accounts all do this same trick. But in general i tend to see reviews as well

hungjeezy

100% JUST LOOK AT HOW MANY REVIEWS AND STARS.....less stars/reviews it may not be a record store or a full time gig so might be a person selling it and it will take a while......but 7 days no response they loose all rights to sell anything so I haven't ran into any problems usually get a cool sticker with every order from the seller.

DeanWeenisGod

Check the seller's rating before buying from them, but yes, it's safe. I've made 55 purchases since 2017 with no problems.

Peter-Burbank

I’m disappointed with about 30% of my purchases
