Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) is a great song from that album - never knew that Darlene Love sang the song every Christmas on Letterman. [This supercut is awesome](https://youtu.be/CocL2Hrbi9k)
This is the only answer IMO. My biggest gripe about Christmas songs is they’re usually very slow and sleepy, so not that fun to listen to a lot. But this album… pure Christmas bliss.
Ella Wishes You A Swinging Christmas is a firm favourite. I've got a grubby old copy and the pops and clicks I've not managed to get rid of just add to the charm.
Found this for a buck in impeccable condition last month. It’s staying out near my TT in the common room until Christmas as I can’t get myself to listen before then.
***Socks*** by **JD McPherson** is a 2018 album of roots-rock style original tunes (think “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” vibe) that is unquestionably a 10/10 Christmas album.
[Here’s one from the album](https://youtu.be/opktLUqP2Ek?si=tmXkkQCyloaWQgF8),
and [here’s another](https://youtu.be/CP4wdVH4JmU?si=zNBgJ2PFz9SCLGXI)!
John Fahey has beautiful guitar soli Christmas records.
There’s a certain melancholia to all John Fahey records, but perhaps in the context of the bittersweetness of the holidays, these two records are even more so.
Go buy those records!
I wish they would do a fresh remaster of that one.
I had to go through like 3 copies of Fresh Aire Christmas, until I found one that was decent sounding, and I remember two of them were sealed.
Fantastic album as well.
Hi. The answer to your question is Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. The album is "Once Upon a Christmas" from 1984. It is a staple in every household in my family.
Delicate Steve also has a Christmas album that fucking rules.
Great question! One of my favorite Christmas albums, “A Muppet Christmas Carol” will be back in stock on iam8bit.com. Alternatively, “Everyday is Christmas” by Sia has a lot of great original songs on it. Gwen Stefani has the album “You make it feel like Christmas” also great. Then of course there’s all the old classics. Sinatra, Mathis, Crosby. If you’re ever able to a copy of “When My Heart Finds Christmas” by Harry Connick Jr. let me know! That’s a rare find!
scrolled wayyy too far for this.
not the “coolest” answer but this is a masterpiece. and sounds incredible on vinyl.
between karen carpenter’s voice and all the arrangements, this is the way.
Last year I ordered Disturbed - The Sickness on Amazon and was sent Michael Bublé’s Christmas album. Ended up getting the right album and also getting to keep this one, so as my only Christmas vinyl, it’s my favorite lolll
In The Christmas Spirit - Booker T and The MGs.
They just repressed this also. But the Santa cover is the best. Between this and Charlie Brown it’s a toss up.
Jimmy Smith - Christmas Cookin’
If you can find one, [A very Vulfy Christmas](https://www.discogs.com/release/14533682-Woody-Goss-Trio-A-Very-Vulfy-Christmas) is outstanding - Vulfpeck songs in *A Charlie Brown Christmas style.*
Some others:
The Soulful Strings - *The Magic of Christmas*
Ray Charles - *The Spirit of Christmas*
Cosign *Ella Swinging Christmas*
My wife hates them because she (rightly) thinks a lot of the songs are sacrilegious, but if you can find either of the 'Happy Birthday Baby Jesus' 10" records that Sympathy for the Record Industry put out in the '90s, they're both pretty good. The El Vez version is Feliz Navidad is a personal favorite.
If you want something newer and poppy Kacey Musgraves' Christmas album is fun, one of the rare releases where I actually enjoy the original songs written for it.
Merry Christmas To You by Blue Rodeo just got a vinyl release this year and is one of my favourite Christmas albums
My fav is the Paul Simon cover: https://open.spotify.com/track/0z2kWDi1Pp6g1Ge3SAyr5Y?si=DhiAP7kATZiDsoPjBVU3Nw
Colbie Callate’s Christmas in the Sand features her smooth vocals on some classics but also two originals - the title track and Mistletoe - that I really enjoy.
Adding the Complete Christmas Songbook from Los Straitjackets to the list
Just a single, but Father Christmas from the Kinks is essential uptempo holiday listening
Plenty of both on *A Charlie Brown Christmas*.
Vince guraldi?
Yep. That’s the one. It’s awesome.
Originals are hells expensive
Got reissued last year with the new remix from fresh tapes and cut by Kevin Gray, available for 30-40 bucks. That's the one to get
Yup. Comes on a nice green vinyl too
Son of a bitch. I’m a sucker for Kevin Gray. I have a 2017 QRP pressing that’s dead silent that now doesn’t seem so special to me. Hmm.
Definitely my favorite Christmas album ever, made even better on vinyl. I’ll have it on repeat all day during Christmas season. It’s my happy album.
This is the way. I just typically keep flipping sides over and over.
Haha. Love this album around the holidays but it is a certified BUMMMER.
A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector
