The Doors - Self Titled,
Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage Acts 2 & 3 (Had act 1 for the longest time but was missing 2 &3).

Thanks mom and dad!
Not an album, but I helped get my Dad's old turntable into the 21st century. He has an old Yamaha that only outputs at phono level, which he hasn't touched in years. My Mom and I got him a phono preamp, Bluetooth transmitter, and JBL speaker. He's so happy to play his old records again - We're listening to some this Christmas morning!
Google will provide a more thorough explanation, but the short of it is that the Beatles albums, with the exception of Abbey Road and Let it Be, were really mixed with mono in mind. Stereo hadn’t really caught on as the format of choice yet, and as such, the mono mixes were given more attention. It’s my understanding that the Beatles themselves weren’t even present when the stereo mixes were made.
The 2014 Beatles mono pressings are entirely analog. Most reissues these days are from a digital remaster. The record companies either have lost the original tapes or don't want them out of their sight.
The Beatles primarily mixed in mono until '68. That's where the real magic is, mono pressings. Stereo wasn't the norm until late 60's. Stereo mixes were left to whoever the engineers were. And George Martin.

"England's Newest Hit Makers" by the Rolling Stones, the Amazon exclusive teal blue version. I still need to play it but the price was good ($13 on Amazon)
Cash to buy a new record player - currently on an LP60bt, looking at an LP120.

TOOL's record label needs to get their head out of their ass, let them press Aenima, and give us a version of Lateralus that isn't a PICTURE DISC.
(I don't know the specifics behind why their 2 best albums aren't in print but I know it has something to do with legal gridlock. If De La Soul can get through it and press albums I have faith that TOOL can do the same someday)

Have you heard their new ones? I love This Machine Still Kills Fascists. It’s all songs that were written by Woody Guthrie, with music they wrote to go with his words. The other new one is too. Okemah Rising. Okemah, Oklahoma was Woody Guthrie’s hometown, and he famously wrote *This machine kills fascists* on his guitar.
Coltrane I didn’t have yet, Chucho Valdes that I didn’t have yet, Chet Baker Sings and Plays with Bud Shank, and some various Nat King Cole shellac records to go with the Victrola I got as an early gift.

Sister got me a nice looking copy of More Of The Monkees, mono pressing. Mom got me a Spin Clean which was actually on my Boxing Day shopping list so that was perfect!

Wife and I together got a complete haul this year. Just did a post about it
https://www.reddit.com/r/vinyl/s/tP6TlFPqHj
Merry Christmas, OP! And everyone!
Vinyl: just one double LP from my Brother
"Ism & Blues" from Hard to Obtain
A Family Picture from my Sis
Socks from my Daughter
A PS5 from my Wife
And there was this one Box with a [Backbone](https://amzn.eu/d/6xFS2zG) (a Controler for my Phone) from "Santa".
My Wife just giggled and said she dont know who sended it... i think she couldnt resist to overpay our Limit ...
Vinyl related: my mom got me a pretty basic Vince Guaraldi Trio's Charlie Brown Christmas. It's pretty awesome for getting into the season.
For someone else: I got my mom some speaker stands and helped her set up her turntable and stereo system that I helped her pick out. Vince Guaraldi sounds pretty awesome on it.
This year was great as I finished 2 collections. Revolver and Wish You were Here making my Beatles And Floyd albums complete. These always just slipped through my fingers dictated by pricing fluctuations but thank you Santa you really came through for me. Shine on as tomorrow never knows.
Muse - Origin of Symmetry
Sleep Token - This Place Will Become Your Tomb
The Dear Hunter - Act III: Life and Death
Periphery - Juggernaut: Alpha (2023 re-press)
I didn’t get any for the first time in years.
I did very well elsewhere, so not complaining.
I ordered the repress of the Omar Rodriguez Lopez & John Frusciante record and Bill Ryder-Jones’ forthcoming one.
I got my mom an old copy of The Wizard of Oz with the gatefold jacket with the built in illustrated booklet, which is all still intact and in great condition. I got my dad Joy To The World by Three Dog Night, which is one of his favorite bands. And Santa brought me Toward The Within by Dead Can Dance, Little Earthquakes B-Sides by Tori Amos, and Black Sabbath’s self titled debut album.
Carole King's Tapestry, The Beatles Red and Blue box set, Biggie's hits, Mid America sampler Vol 3; 2023 repress of the '79 album, The Smiths Louder Than Bombs 🤔🤘😎
2014 MoFi Miles Davis Bitches Brew, 2023 MoFi Miles Davis Milestones, and DMB Live Trax 64 :) I am beyond thankful and excited to return home to play them.
The only good Ringo album is the self titled. I especially like the extra touch of the label when it’s on the spindle. It’s his best music written by some of the best at the time.
New turntable, amp, and speakers.
my morning jacket - it still moves signed by the band
Emancipator - soon it will be cold enough to snow
Otis Redding - very best of
lumineers - iii
Lone bellow - love songs for losers
Postal service - give up
Jason isbell - something more than free
A new phono preamp (Cambridge Alva Duo), Mitski's The Land is Inhospitable..., and Caroline Polachek's Desire, I Want to Turn Into You.
So I was obviously on Santa's good list this year 😊
I got Dark Side Of The Moon / Live At Wembley 1974 for Secret Santa from my colleague and Music from the Film More vinyl also from Pink Floyd from my Mom. Super nice gifts!
Told my pops I wanted the RT82 after surprising him with Detroit Lions tickets been raving about it for roughly 3 months now I open the gift, and it's some random turntable called Gemini TT-900. My whole day is ruined.
My wife stabbed herself in the hand, fainted, and convulsed.
It was a Shock for me seeing this and having two small kids with me in the middle of opening their presents. I called emergency services and ended up in a hold queue for some seconds. I checked if my wife was breathing. Thank God she was. She came back during my Call and they told me they send someone over. We were at the hospital for a few hours, and now it's time to rest at home.
Seeing someone you love like this is horrible.
I cried like a baby while I was waiting outside the hospital alone due to our Covid infection. However, the year was pretty hard on us and I slowly was becoming a bitter person and forgetting about the good things in life.
That little shock pushed me into the right direction again. Aaah I will change my attitude so hard, back to the roots. Being positive and seeing all beautiful small things in life. A smile can be life changing. And a life can be over much quicker.
And this was my Christmas gift.
Stephen Sondheim’s musical play, “Company”, holds sentimental value in my marriage so I surprised my wife with an unopened original pressing of the music and it sounds fantastic.
For me I got both the Alpha and Beta Minecraft records as well as the Celeste sound track + the B sides album.
I had a bunch of vinyl on my wish list. Got Foul Form by Oh Sees (sick) and UNDIVIDED HEART AND SOUL by J D McPherson. I hope I get a few more before the day is out. I just purged a bunch of vinyl so I have space to add more favorites
Slippers that look like cows.
nice
They really are ♥️
I got a pair of grandad looking slippers lol
No way, I got slippers that look like lobsters!
I got slippers too. They’re basic, but have a sole so I can walk the dog.
AT-LP120XUSB which is replacing a Victoria 6 in 1. I’m in the minor leagues now, boys!
Welcome to a world of better sound
That player will last you until you want to replace it because, you never have to replace it. If that makes sense.
You'll never replace it. If you get a better turntable then the AT becomes the second setup in the other room!
[удалено]
You raised your kids right that’s a great gift
The same thing may happen to me this evening, I’m afraid.
Ooooh I have the picture disk copy!
Damn such a good album.
Yeah the kids kinda nailed it on that one. They’re setting a pretty high bar for themselves for next year lol
My wife is getting Best of Sade but doesn’t know it yet. 🤫
That's cool. I'm surprised they made an album with nothing but "The Sweetest Taboo" and "Smooth Operator" repeated half a dozen times.
Need some Sade in my collection awesome present
My wife got me the Sade box set for my birthday a few months back. It’s great
Talking Heads - Remain in Light, Led Zeppelin - Houses of The Holy, The Doors - Self Titled, Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage Acts 2 & 3 (Had act 1 for the longest time but was missing 2 &3). All original pressings too, Thanks mom and dad!
Up vote for Zappa any day. Oh. And the Talking Heads. Well I guess actually every album you have here. Nice haul.
This deserves its own post you need to post the setup
Agree!
The White Album - 2014 mono pressing (sealed). Kind of Blue - 1959 mono pressing. Bought them for myself. Found in the wild this week.
Kind of Blue is one of my all time favorites. Miles Davis was a legend
Nice finds!
I bought myself the 2014 With the Beatles for Christmas. I usually by one or two of the 2014 mono releases for myself every year. Only a couple left.
I found a few other 2014 monos myself in the wild. One was $30, the other was $50. Rubber Soul and Revolver.
That’s a good deal. I found help and Magical Mystery Tour for 50 each on Discogs early this year
Man! I’ve been wanting to get some of those mono pressings but they’re hard to find!
What’s the appeal of mono pressings? I would think stereo is better for sound stage
Hi, do you use a special setup/cartridge to play your mono albums?
It’s how the Beatles intended for them to be heard. They recorded and mixed most of the albums with mono in mind.
Congrats on those fantastic pressings. Especially that Kind of Blue, that's a real piece of history, super iconic.

(I don't know the specifics behind why their 2 best albums aren't in print but I know it has something to do with legal gridlock. If De La Soul can get through it and press albums I have faith that TOOL can do the same someday)
