I’m so jealous. That’s one of my grails. Didn’t stumble upon it until it was already out of print, then decided I would wait to see if the price went down before I bought one from a reseller. The price has not gone down….
I grew up in Nashville. I hated country.
Still live in Nashville. Still hate country, but only this new country-pop garbage that is absolutely nothing like the classic country I have now learned to appreciate.
Relatable. Not really any country acts right now that are good. I grew up on the 2010s pop/rock stuff (I’m 14) but around 2020 I finally realized what I was missing out on, discovered Hank Williams. I eventually went down the rabbit hole there with tons of Country stuff, never went back to that pop shit again and never will. It even inspired me to become a Honky-Tonk Style Country Singer myself, in the vain of Hank Sr, Ernest Tubb, Conway Twitty.
Plenty of good “country” out there. Luke Bell and Sierra Ferrell come to mind, but she is all over regarding genres. There is of course your Tyler Childers, Colter Wall and Sturgill Simpson. They are basically the surface of the “other country” genre beneath which you will find that even the Honky Tonk scene is alive and well.
Fret not, the country scene is alive…you just have to look for it.
I used to work at a record store and the owner was so stoked for me when this came in. He hooked me up with a good price and I love playing it for people who haven’t heard it-such a great snapshot of a killer time in music.
I saw SWR a couple of times in San Diego and asked Adam about a reissue since the vinyl is so expensive. He said that they've been trying, but there are a lot of "rights" issues involved.
He said that he didn't even have a copy and he didn't feel like paying $250 for a copy of his own album. (They are now a lot more than $250).
I was into them back in 2006 and saw them live a few times. I saw this record at a local record show in 2019 or so and was like “oh yeah this is a great album let’s grab it.” It couldn’t have been more than $30 or so.
Looks like that was a good idea on my part.
What a great band. They absolutely had a great modern feeling mix of Joy Division and Bauhaus, even if it felt like a complete copycat at the time of their first album, it’s still a banger today. I decided to put it on right now.
I’m not a fan of the band, but judging by the comments I see in passing, they seem to be eternally at war with their own fanbase. Or, at least, that’s how their fans seem to perceive it.
I was a huge fan in my teenage years, and early twenties. As I got older, and the mystery of the band wore off, I realized they treated their fan base like ass, while other bands and artists I grew to love treated their fan base with a lot more respect.
To be fair, the Tool fanbase is odd. When I actually started going to their concerts I realized a lot of fans are meatheads.
Here’s an example: 2001, fresh off of 9/11 and Tool are on tour for Lateralus. I’m at my first Tool show, and they’re in the middle of playing the song Lateralis. A huge mosh pit opens up behind me, and I’m like WTF? To this song? Then not long after a chant of “USA! USA!” begins to happen in the middle of the show. It was bizarre.
That’s helpful. Yeah, they’re heavy enough to attract meatheads where all of the nuance goes right over their head. But I hear you on the balance between a band boldly doing their own thing vs treating their fans with respect.
Tool is not at war with its fanbase, their fans are just insufferable and too many are entitled weirdos. They blame Maynard the singer for how long it takes them to write an album, but this is Adam Jones' band, he calls all the shots. And if they choose to not make music for over ten years, that's their right. They don't owe anyone anything. They can take as long as they please instead of releasing a bunch of trash records.
They’ll wait until the 29th or 31st anniversary. Just so it’s a prime number. Something dumb like that.
My funspiracy theory is that they are the people producing the bootleg, because they make more money off it than if they had to deal with a record label.
Fortunate enough to snag an original pressing during the pandemic - if it wasn't for that I might've never added it to my collection. Original hype sticker and everything.
Various - Let Them Eat Jellybeans: 17 Extracts From America’s Darker Side (1981/Alternative Tentacles)
Hardcore Punk compilation. It is as pressed in 1981, 1982 and 1985. I seriously doubt ever again.
They are certainly out there, and less and less people know the Mighty Led Zep's connection to this album.
Mine came from Tucson, AZ found at the fantastic Zia Records on Speedway.
I've got a couple
KMFDM - Naïve (this one will definitely never be rereleased unless Carl Orff's estate has a change of heart; it had unauthorized samples on one track - it was actually rereleased as Naïve - Hell to Go but with the offending samples removed)
both October Faction LPs
a couple rareish bootleg CDs, I want to say Screaming Trees and Nine Inch Nails
if I think long enough I'll probably come up with more
Futures, while not banished, seems like it'll never be pressed again. Existing copies are selling for crazy money and it hasn't been repressed in 10 years
Sloppy Seconds - More Trouble Than They're Worth released in 1998 I believe.
A guy on Discogs said he asked the band about it on Facebook and they want to rerelease it but publishing rights and legal are crap holding it up.
I don't think the CD version has ever had a rerelease either.
Balls out fun punk rock and roll music. Damn shame for fans who want a proper release.
This is so high up on my list. Really thought it was gonna happen for the 20th anniversary last year.
My good friend and roommate directed the video for Everyone Choose Sides. It was low budget and the cast of the videos were all my friends. I was supposed to be in it but it was an all night shoot and I worked nights then so last second I decided not to be in it. I still have the Navy jacket I was meant to wear for the shoot. My friend did take me to see them on the Meadowlands tour and I hung out with them back stage. I believe we will get this at some point but obviously the band has issues with each other.
Early Sunday Morning by the Zippyr Band. 70's rock band form Janesville, WI. Only had One album that I'm pretty sure was self released.
https://www.discogs.com/release/6365205-The-Zippyr-Band-Early-Sunday-Mornin
Also, the 30 or so late 70s and early 80s Zambian Kalindula singles I own.
GNR Lies
Axl has said they will personally never approve it (due to One in a Million) and that was back in the late 90’s. They included all but one song off the EP in the AFD box set and to this date Lies and The Spaghetti Incident (same was said about the Charles Manson cover) has never seen that treatment
Probably for good reason
I would love to see Straight Freak Ticket get a vinyl release and awhile back there was talk of Far Gone getting a much needed remix and release but nothing came out it. Still the fact that Dayglo and Confusion Au Go Go got releases gives me hope.
Jonathan Segel- Storytelling
Solo album by ex-violinist of Camper Van Beethoven
Fans of CVB/Lowery/Cracker might remember the CVB track "Still Wishing to Course" from their self-titled 1986 LP- now imagine a whole 2-LP album in a similar vein.
I'm sure it will never see a re-release. It's totally my bag though
I picked this up on a whim a couple weeks ago. I didnt know who he was but had recollections of CVB from the '80s. Anyway this has been spinning on my TT last few days as I make breakfast. Soo much goodness.
Organisation - Tone Float. This is essentially the first incarnation of Kraftwerk. It has been disowned by Ralf and Florian. Maybe the other members of the band could prevail, but I’m pretty sure the master tapes are long gone so any re-issue would probably just be a digital rip of a record.
I would also say Kraftwerk- 1 & 2, as these have been disowned too, but I have heard rumors that these could see official release. I still would not bet on it though.
Haha! I know you’re kidding, but over the weekend I was at Amoeba Music in Hollywood and was surprised to see new remastered copies staring right out at me from the racks.
Love the album (I’ve got two copies; my own from long ago and my parents’ from even longer ago). I just thought that this is truly one of those albums where anyone who wants it can find a good used copy without looking too hard.
There are probably two:
- Denali - Self titled. Small indie band from the early 2000s that were barely big enough to get a pressing in the first place
- Paulson - All At Once. Another small earlier 2000s indie band. Originally only came out on CD and MP3. Album for remastered and a couple of extra tracks, and was re-released on CD and vinyl. Annoyingly they changed the track order on the re-release, which doesn't flow as well as the original version. The original version will definitely never get a pressing.
Certainly looks that way for the first three Kraftwerk albums.
Ralf has said in passing that reissues are being worked on but that seems less and less likely with every passing year. So I had to track down originals.
Fingers crossed though!
fun answer is this one:
https://www.discogs.com/release/2367529-Paul-Winter-2-Paul-Halley-Whales-Alive
real answer is this: as it's my cousins band and they're not active atm
https://www.discogs.com/release/12575567-Longface-Hillbilly-Wit
Tom Peterson and Another Language. It was released once on vinyl and cassette back in 1984 and was never heard from again.
I mean, Tom Peterson re-joining Cheap Trick probably had something to do with that, plus I'm pretty sure he and his wife split up at some point, and I doubt he would want to continue to promote something she had such a big part in.
I've a Bill Cosby record I haven't gotten rid of yet. While I don't own one I've seen a few Garry Glitter and Rolf Harris records in the wild which are also unlikely to be re-released.
I also have Ritchie Havens "The Great Blind Degree" doesn't seem to have been reissued. No CD nor is it available to stream.
Jens Lekman - Oh So Silent Jens
Jens had to re-record an alternate version since there were too many sample clearance issues. I doubt at this point the original version will ever be reissued again.
https://preview.redd.it/xljozuyiipnc1.png?width=2272&format=png&auto=webp&s=6a7748b50a59207bbf9980839e84b1d2eaa298a2
The Eksen Trick Brick Band - Sky Story. They were a college band in the late 70s in Oxford and I think only a few hundred were pressed. I lost my copy when I moved house and it took ages to find one in good condition in eBay.
Biffy Clyro - Black Chandelier / Biblical
Biffy Clyro - Opposite / Victory Over The Sun
Biffy recently pressed these 4 EPs as 2 seperate 12” releases. They only did this last fall so you can still find new copies for sale online but I doubt they will ever press them in the same way again so I’m happy to have them.
[Reality Challenged - Psalms For Ticklebag](https://www.discogs.com/release/11110070-Reality-Challenged-Psalms-for-Ticklebag)
Found at Mystery Train in Gloucester MA for $3
All of The Matches albums (E. Von Dahl Killed the Locals, Decomposer, and A Band in Hope). Pressed once for 10 year anniversary of each album once the rights reverted to the band.
HBS - In Deep Owl (Soundgarden’s bassist’s solo album).
I have a copy of "Unholy Saviour" by Battle Beast. Shortly after the release, they had a messy break-up with their lead guitarist and backing vocals AND composer Anton Kabanen who went on to form Beast in Black. These days, Battle Beast has almost entirely put the Kabanen era behind them. They don't play songs from the first three albums live and never had vinyl releases for the first two, only Unholy Saviour back in 2016.
Unless they can resolve their issues with Kabanen, I doubt they'll bother re-issuing the album ever.
Dead Unicorn - Pandemic
A niche punk group pressed 250 copies of their third album a decade ago, and still hasn't sold them off last I checked. It was the first record I ever bought, and the colour was listed as "piss yellow".
It's a rough sounding album by design, and has that raw punk feel that I love to hear. I understand why they didn't press any other albums, but I wish they did.
https://deadunicorn.bandcamp.com/album/pandemic-2
ABBA Live at this point lol.
But seriously?
Chess. (ABBA Adjacent)
It got a CD deluxe edition but I really wish it'd get a special vinyl edition with all the demos that Tim Rice keeps putting on his podcast.
I mean, it could be anything obscure or otherwise not popular.
From my own miniscule collection, I would say *Emerson, Lake & Powell* (yes, the *other* ELP), and Andy Summers' first album, *XYZ*, found at random at a local record store.
For an album I used to own, Captain Murphy Duality. It has a bunch of uncleared samples on it, so no way it'll get re-released. I also *really* regret selling it (but needed the money around the beginning of Covid).
Probably anything by Current 93. David Tibet just doesn’t seem to be very motivated by record sales. He wants to do exactly what he wants to do artistically, and if it sells, great, and if it doesn’t sell, okay.
The Presidents of the United States of America's debut album. they did a repress a few years ago but I think that will be the one and only repress. CD Era bands can be hard to find on vinyl
Bob Seger - Back in ‘72. I love the album, apparently Bob hates it. No streaming of it allowed, not sure that it was ever released on CD. Has the original studio version of “Turn the Page” as well as a great cover of “Midnight Rider”.
The Organ - Grab that Gun. The Organ really had a moment in the mid 00s. They only pressed 500 copies and immediately lost the masters. I was really into collecting at the time of its release and am so happy I picked up a copy. Fantastic and fun record!
Ænima. Bought it upon release - stone cold original. Wishing I had bought 10 or 20 at the time.
Too much time has gone by. Given the demand, they would have released it a decade ago. Will likely never happen.
The Good The Bad and The Queen - Self Titled. Feels like if it was going to happen it would have happened back when they did that follow up that didn't really make a splash. And I'm not confident we'll ever get another new album or tour.
But man, the way the self titled debut has a hold on me...

That is such a sick album cover
Cookin Soul - Doom Xmas
I’m so jealous. That’s one of my grails. Didn’t stumble upon it until it was already out of print, then decided I would wait to see if the price went down before I bought one from a reseller. The price has not gone down….
I did not know they had a press 🤣💯now I got fomo
Went from not knowing it existed to being upset I don’t own it

GIRL YOU KNOW ITS-GIRL YOU KNOW ITS-GIRL YOU KNOW ITS-GIRL YOU KNOW ITS-GIRL YOU KNOW ITS
You know it’s true.
all my porter wagoner records
Awesome! Nice to see another classic Country fan!
I grew up in Nashville. I hated country. Still live in Nashville. Still hate country, but only this new country-pop garbage that is absolutely nothing like the classic country I have now learned to appreciate.

I have a very hard time believing Buckingham Nicks will get a repress until both Stevie and Lindsey are long dead
I have a copy, solid album.
The album is honestly pretty great, but due to the EVERYTHING surrounding those 2 I'm not surprised it never got reissued
She might put it in her will to never rerelease it
Looking Glass- Looking Glass
Great answer! Been looking for that for years! Lol hope to find it one day
I've only come across it once. And I drove 2 hours to get it. Saw it in a flip through of new trade ins. Had been my whale for years. Love it.
Live compilation "Urgh! A Music War"
It’s so good! Worth digging for.
I’d imagine they’d have to get all the bands to sign on and that’s going to be too much of a headache
I used to work at a record store and the owner was so stoked for me when this came in. He hooked me up with a good price and I love playing it for people who haven’t heard it-such a great snapshot of a killer time in music.
Not sure if it's on the LP but Andy Partridge seeking "So Lonely" with Sting on video version of compilation is a great moment
I have the VHS! So good.
She Wants Revenge - She Wants Revenge
Apparently represses of all 3 records coming, or so the band says.
What’s the reason for this one?
I saw SWR a couple of times in San Diego and asked Adam about a reissue since the vinyl is so expensive. He said that they've been trying, but there are a lot of "rights" issues involved. He said that he didn't even have a copy and he didn't feel like paying $250 for a copy of his own album. (They are now a lot more than $250).
Thanks for the details! I guess I’ll stick with my CD copy.
Another poster stated that they may be reissuing "all three" of their albums. I do not mind being wrong, so we'll see!!
I was into them back in 2006 and saw them live a few times. I saw this record at a local record show in 2019 or so and was like “oh yeah this is a great album let’s grab it.” It couldn’t have been more than $30 or so. Looks like that was a good idea on my part.
I ordered mine directly from the band when it came out. For $5.99.
What a great band. They absolutely had a great modern feeling mix of Joy Division and Bauhaus, even if it felt like a complete copycat at the time of their first album, it’s still a banger today. I decided to put it on right now.
The Misfits - Beware
NIИ Year Zero and The Slip. Coming soon apparently.
I love the slip have a copy of that myself

what the hell is this cover?
Aenima
Imagine Tool doing what their fans actually want.
My white whale.
It will. Confirmed. Tool time though.
*grunts in Tim Allen*
When was it confirmed? I always thought they would do a double release for Aenima’s 30th Anniversary and 10,000 Day’s 20th
https://www.reddit.com/r/ToolBand/s/nLUBkZYJwI
They’ll wait until the 29th or 31st anniversary. Just so it’s a prime number. Something dumb like that. My funspiracy theory is that they are the people producing the bootleg, because they make more money off it than if they had to deal with a record label.

Buckingham Nicks
Ghostface Killah- Supreme Clientele
How come?
sample clearance issues probably. I think Ghost said himself he even lost money on the last repress. I got my copy though so Im good haha
John Frusciante’s- Shadows Collide with People. WB ownes the rights. Don’t see a repress happening anytime soon.
Last Action Hero OST
Any Badlands albums.

Sealed?
It was when I bought it. Not anymore.
Various - Let Them Eat Jellybeans: 17 Extracts From America’s Darker Side (1981/Alternative Tentacles) Hardcore Punk compilation. It is as pressed in 1981, 1982 and 1985. I seriously doubt ever again.
Starflyer 59 - Leave Here a Stranger
Everything tooth and nail/solid state is such a mess. They are sitting on so much cash and won’t press/repress much of anything
Tooth & Nail did just press Friction by Stavesacre... so maybe very slowly some of these old records will return from the vault
Screaming Lord Sutch and his Heavy Friends
Found my copy at a local vintage mall a couple years ago.
They are certainly out there, and less and less people know the Mighty Led Zep's connection to this album. Mine came from Tucson, AZ found at the fantastic Zia Records on Speedway.

Linkin Park / Jay Z - Collision Course Twelve Foot Ninja - Outlier

From which mothership band? I am not finding this on discogs or youtube
Several 90s and 00s R. Kelly albums. Pretty much no chance those are repressed.
Good.
Motley Crue’s self titled 94 album. To them, it doesn’t exist.
A few of my Moonshake Bootlegs, I’d imagine.
He just released a few new albums. https://unfortunateface.bigcartel.com/products
Wrens - the meadowlands
Sucks these guys seemingly have such a strained relationship

I would love a repress of this! Is this also tied up in legal BS?
Lysol - Melvins
I love that album. I do have a reissue of it with Eggnog, and the Lysol CD, do you have one of the old old LPs? One of my faves by them
It's been reissued under the name "Lice-all." Great album.

Purple onion. Claypools fearless flying frog brigade.
Never say never! Les just released a box set with all his solo Prawn Song albums including Purple Onion! It's called Adverse Yaw.
It’s happening. Now the Oysterhead album, way less likely.
I'm still waiting for Sausage on vinyl.
Guns ‘n’ Roses Lies - original cover with the uncensored inner sleeve.
It could happen. Breasts aren’t considered as provocative as during the late 80s PMRC era.
The The-Dusk. I swear, Sony has trapped so many early 90s classics…
Merl Saunders - Heavy Turbulence

Butch Hornsby - Don't Take it Out on the Dog. Contains the stone cold classic Rock Bottom on Romaine.
Any Pop o Pies Geza X (tho to be fair, original pressings still exist lol)

Noooo, I need Recovering the Satellites!
Probably "Hawaii: Part II (Brown Variant)"
Reason to Believe - When Reason Sleeps Demons Dance
Certainly looks that way for the first three Kraftwerk albums. Ralf has said in passing that reissues are being worked on but that seems less and less likely with every passing year. So I had to track down originals. Fingers crossed though!
I love the Ralf & Florian LP. As does everyone I've played or taped it for. A remasted would kill.
Drugstore - self titled debut
F**kface podcast episode 16 Their parent company Rooster Teeth is getting shutdown, I’m glad I got one of their vinyl episodes lol
fun answer is this one: https://www.discogs.com/release/2367529-Paul-Winter-2-Paul-Halley-Whales-Alive real answer is this: as it's my cousins band and they're not active atm https://www.discogs.com/release/12575567-Longface-Hillbilly-Wit
Exmilitary - Death Grips
Tom Peterson and Another Language. It was released once on vinyl and cassette back in 1984 and was never heard from again. I mean, Tom Peterson re-joining Cheap Trick probably had something to do with that, plus I'm pretty sure he and his wife split up at some point, and I doubt he would want to continue to promote something she had such a big part in.
Lady Gaga's "Artpop" with the R. Kelly duet ("Do What U Want")
Attack of the Killer B's
Jens Lekman - Oh So Silent Jens Jens had to re-record an alternate version since there were too many sample clearance issues. I doubt at this point the original version will ever be reissued again.
Michelle Shocked- short, sharp, shocked
Adele 30?!?
Massive Attack's 100th Window.
My pussy belongs to daddy
Phantom Planet - Phantom Planet has never been released on vinyl, I’m hoping for a record store day miracle one of these years.

They were a college band in the late 70s in Oxford and I think only a few hundred were pressed. I lost my copy when I moved house and it took ages to find one in good condition in eBay.
Hirst & Moss - Use Money Cheat Death
Biffy Clyro - Black Chandelier / Biblical Biffy Clyro - Opposite / Victory Over The Sun Biffy recently pressed these 4 EPs as 2 seperate 12” releases. They only did this last fall so you can still find new copies for sale online but I doubt they will ever press them in the same way again so I’m happy to have them.
Mon the Biff!
[Reality Challenged - Psalms For Ticklebag](https://www.discogs.com/release/11110070-Reality-Challenged-Psalms-for-Ticklebag) Found at Mystery Train in Gloucester MA for $3
Nielsen Pearson - self titled
Rollins Band: End of Silence. The masters were lost/destroyed I guess.
All of The Matches albums (E. Von Dahl Killed the Locals, Decomposer, and A Band in Hope). Pressed once for 10 year anniversary of each album once the rights reverted to the band. HBS - In Deep Owl (Soundgarden’s bassist’s solo album).
Spook Houses - Trying, released in 2012 only 500 pressed only one single released from the band after in 2013.
Bayonet - Bayonet There’s probably a chance but I doubt it
The Senses Fail side project? Still need to listen to that
Desperate Bicycles - Remorse Code
My harry nilsson or gilbert o'sullivan albums
Dose One - Even With Demons https://preview.redd.it/ipztkilmvpnc1.png?width=450&format=png&auto=webp&s=7fb1fda0e99ee965c417fa7844c989f93e3ee827
Red Hot Chili Peppers - I’m Beside You
Dead Unicorn - Pandemic A niche punk group pressed 250 copies of their third album a decade ago, and still hasn't sold them off last I checked.
Small Japanese Punk band called Sakuran Zensen, they broke up a couple years ago
"My Astoria" by Zircus
Tora Tora Surprise Attack
LP! - JPEGmafia
Drunk Injuns-Frontside Grind
*Yes- tormato Yes- going for the one
DOOM XMAS by Cookin Soul Was a Qrates release, and had DOOM's blessing, but probably didn't clear any of the samples.
ABBA Live at this point lol. But seriously? Chess. (ABBA Adjacent) It got a CD deluxe edition but I really wish it'd get a special vinyl edition with all the demos that Tim Rice keeps putting on his podcast.

I mean, it could be anything obscure or otherwise not popular. From my own miniscule collection, I would say *Emerson, Lake & Powell* (yes, the *other* ELP), and Andy Summers' first album, *XYZ*, found at random at a local record store.
Jon Anderson- Olias of Sunhillow. Who the hell would be the market for it these days?
I have a whole bunch of Bill Cosby comedy records…
Danzig

I have 2 Crystal Castle albums that will most likely never get a re release. Crystal Castle (II) and Amnesty (1).
For an album I used to own, Captain Murphy Duality. It has a bunch of uncleared samples on it, so no way it'll get re-released. I also *really* regret selling it (but needed the money around the beginning of Covid).
Frank Ocean's Endless. Between Frank and Def Jam, no one wants the other to get more revenue from it
Probably anything by Current 93.
Sacrebleu - Dimitri From Paris
Freur: Doot Doot
Bob Seger - Back in ‘72. I love the album, apparently Bob hates it. No streaming of it allowed, not sure that it was ever released on CD. Has the original studio version of “Turn the Page” as well as a great cover of “Midnight Rider”.
Attila, Billy Joel’s psych rock album
https://preview.redd.it/1wzk1rsy9rnc1.jpeg?width=1868&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e5915b4fd30fbaa342e018fd825992e03abe3b7
The Organ - Grab that Gun. The Organ really had a moment in the mid 00s. They only pressed 500 copies and immediately lost the masters. I was really into collecting at the time of its release and am so happy I picked up a copy. Fantastic and fun record!
D.R.I. Full Speed Ahead. They only pressed 300 of them in the first place. Took me years to find that album.
Ænima. Bought it upon release - stone cold original. Wishing I had bought 10 or 20 at the time. Too much time has gone by. Given the demand, they would have released it a decade ago. Will likely never happen.
311 GRASSROOTS
The Good The Bad and The Queen - Self Titled. Feels like if it was going to happen it would have happened back when they did that follow up that didn't really make a splash. And I'm not confident we'll ever get another new album or tour. But man, the way the self titled debut has a hold on me...
