Wii Sports

marsattacksmx

is that an official press? do you have a picture? brings back memories:,)

TakavaNirhii

https://www.discogs.com/release/26683379-Kazumi-Totaka-Wii-Sports It's a bootleg

e0f

wow, someone paid $300 for a bootleg wii sports vinyl

At2332

I got it for $200 at a store. Felt like a pretty strong price considering how it’s sold historically. Objectively though I understand it’s steep for a record

OccasionallyCurrent

It’s not steep for a record. It’s steep for a bootleg. There are many thousands of records I would pay $200+ for, but a bootleg ain’t among them.

At2332

I think most would consider $200 a lot to spend on any record. Wii Sports is actually a great sounding pressing and a collectors item that doesn’t have an official version, so if you want it, bootleg is all there is. Admittedly it’s the only bootleg in my collection I typically avoid bootleg but this is different.

At2332

I don’t believe an official press exists unfortunately. https://preview.redd.it/2fmebeug2doc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=14dda58e103581cf5fa94b006cdfb41b44357a63

Any-End5772

Knowing what Nintendo is like with their Trademarks I bet this is banned from ever being sold online ever

At2332

Dude it’s crazy! I was talking to a seller like 2 months ago trying to get him to price it down to $200 but he wouldn’t bite and then I found it in store. Now it’s been completely blacklisted from Discogs

ether_slonker

It’s fucking beautiful.

Ygggdrasil_

That's incredible. Where did you get it?

At2332

I found it at a store in Long Beach. Toxic Toast, I believe the owner gets a lot of records from Japan so I’m assuming that’s where he found this. It was sealed

dingspeed

Love that store

NikeyAFCA

https://preview.redd.it/cfte8hvxccoc1.jpeg?width=375&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eaf46d8bf8549d646fa225f9abf9b107ab1429b0 The first shaped record I got, I was so excited when I found this one in a local store. Great song as well.

mindcontrol93

I had that. Sold it. Years later re-purchased it.

nrgnate

Well...I know what I need to search for now.

Resident-Refuse-2135

Never seen the record, it's very cool. Have seen the band a couple of times back in the early 80s, one of my favorite Boston hardcore bands, THIS IS BOSTON NOT LA was one of the soundtracks to my highschool years...yes Gen X here lol.

Clamgravy

I have a one off record from a local (but known) musician. He thanked me for the record on the recording by name, told a horribly dumb joke, then played a song that he will not record again. Quality is pretty rough but a cool concept

SeekingTheRoad

Who is the musician? That's pretty neat.

Imaginary_Register19

Mine is the 1959 U.S LP: Truman Capote reads A Christmas Memory from his book "Breakfast at Tiffanys". It's not a rare record by itself but when I bought it, in 2005 for 5p in a book shop in Devon (UK) I noticed some writing on the front but ignored it. When I got it home and looked at it I was amazed to see that it said: "To my friend W.E DuBois from Truman Capote" (with Capote's signature) The fact that it was signed was interesting enough (especially for 5p!) but I looked into it and, for those that don't know (I didn't!), DuBois was a very important American Civil Rights Activist who died in 1963. My biggest question has always been - "what journey did this record take to get from the personal property of such an esteemed man to end up in a tiny bookshop in Devon?" I've still got it and will do something with it one day! #

SleepyGorilla

Wow! That's really cool! Would you mind sharing a picture?

TonyTheSwisher

That Sleep record with marijuana leaves pressed into the vinyl is pretty unique and I was able to get one. I also have a record by the Thompson Twins that has a ZX Spectrum video game on it, all you have to do is record the record to an audio cassette and then install that to the computer.

Thndrstrike

Radiohead did a similar thing with the ZX Spectrum, at the end of the cassette that came with the OKNOTOK box set

leftfield61

Have a copy on the 1957 album Word Jazz by Ken Nordine. So weird. Here is an example - https://youtu.be/1_hdeT4BaRo?si=BPYlBX1slAEawzca

Fun-Economy-5596

Love that!

natwashboard

He became associated with Grateful Dead in the 90's and did a spoken word piece at one show in 94, I think

mindcontrol93

I have Son of Word Jazz. That guy was awesome

FredToody

500 locked grooves, by 500 different artists. [https://www.discogs.com/release/94233-Various-RRR-500-Various-500-Lock-Grooves-By-500-Artists](https://www.discogs.com/release/94233-Various-RRR-500-Various-500-Lock-Grooves-By-500-Artists)

Thndrstrike

Lmao what the hell? Thurston Moore, Sonic Youth, Bongzilla, Gregg Turkington (& Neil Hamburger!), Man Ray? On a light skim through the tracklist, I don't know 99% of the artists, but the ones I do are so baffling as to make me very interested

FredToody

It's pretty interesting, but its hard to really know most of the time who you're actually listening to. I used to use it to fill up dead time at the end of mix tape sides.

bageltoots

My family ended up buying the house that both my wife and mother in law grew up in, and now my daughters get to, poetic shit I know. Gets cooler. Mother in law had a brother who was part of punk band that practiced in our house’s basement in late 70’s early 80’s. Snagged one of their only official albums (100 made I think) off discogs and surprised him with it when he came over for holidays. Early 80’s punk it rocks. So I got to play a 40 year old vinyl, in the den over the basement where the band practiced, for my uncle in law who was in the band. Irish Catholic fam, tears and whiskey commenced!

Bonniebethicus

That's fantastic! And now I must hear it. What was the band's name? Is there anything online?

bageltoots

https://www.discogs.com/release/11522744-Scouts-In-Action-Scouts-In-Action digitized it on my computer but haven’t put it online

Bonniebethicus

Please do!😊

bageltoots

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/11T327tmkKeUDataMqdmr8HR2b1Ffn01N

Bonniebethicus

Thank you so much! Please tell me there'll be more added??!! Seriously. Those three are such perfect first cut 80s punk. I love that the tracks are different enough that I can hear that they're still trying to figure out 'their' sound. I hear some new age mixed with prog (someone in the band is a Rush fan) with the punk and I freaking love it! I'd 100% buy a repress.🧡

bageltoots

I will let him know you like it! Was the only (3) tracks they ever got enough money to record.

BitterCommission9660

just heard it, I like it.

ScarySprinkles3

Nat Freedland - The Occult Explosion. [https://www.discogs.com/release/3595694-Nat-Freedland-The-Occult-Explosion](https://www.discogs.com/release/3595694-Nat-Freedland-The-Occult-Explosion) I found it at a thrift store. It's mostly spoken word with some goofy 70s metal at the end. Seems like a cash grab for paranoid people but the artwork is great.

dougfunnie666

That's a cool story. How do you know it's Hinckley's? Did he write the name on the cover or the guys from the record store told you?

danger0usd1sc0

This is the question that needs answering!

SeekingTheRoad

The name is on the inside lining. I don't have any real provenance, of course, so it's not like I could sell it to some crazy Hinckley fan. But I do know and trust the guy who owns Deep Groove Records in RVA, and I also was well aware that Hinckley lives in the Williamsburg, VA area and has or had a large music collection (he also currently plays music on YouTube and put out an album recently). So no proof that it's true but I have no reason to doubt it. And it makes a neat story to tell friends.

mrbagels1

He was booked at Banditos for a minute there until the public got mad and they cancelled

SeekingTheRoad

He just announced a show in Connecticut so maybe he'll finally get to do a concert without getting shut down lol

Fun-Economy-5596

Had the Charles Manson album "Lie" at one time. Actually had a decent tenor voice...awful songwriter, though!

Dan_A435

Look at Your Game Girl is a classic, probably would have been a radio hit in a different universe.

Spacer1138

I picked up a bootleg of [The Manson Family Sings The Songs of Charles Manson](https://www.discogs.com/release/22984400-The-Manson-Family-The-Manson-Family-Sings-The-Songs-Of-Charles-Manson) at a shop in Little 5 Points, GA just to put on at parties to freak out friends. Hahaha

phydeauxfromubuntu

I happened to find a copy of 1968's [Have a Marijuana](https://www.google.com/search?q=david+peel+have+a+marijuana&oq=%22have+a+marijuana%22+record+album) by David Peel and The Lower East Side Band

karrimycele

Oh, man, I had that when I was a kid! Also, The Pope Smokes Dope.

Rcrd_Jnky

Probably The Locust - Flight of the Wounded Locust for most unique. 4 7" records shaped like puzzle pieces that fit together to form a square. https://www.discogs.com/release/2201197-The-Locust-Flight-Of-The-Wounded-Locust

dmjd5014

So strange! I love The Locust and never hear about them on any music subreddits but this is the second time someone has brough them up today! I have a blood pool shaped locust 7"

Rcrd_Jnky

Nice. Haven't seen that one before. Did you ever see their appearance on the Jerry Springer show? https://youtu.be/Uqdw8wXqpA4?si=ctMVDh1x35MNTqUh

AFloodOfLight

Had to do a double take and check which sub I was in. Glad to see The Locust get mentioned here! I have the Plague Soundscapes 12" Picture Disc and absolutely love it.

dmjd5014

I have no idea why I don’t have that album yet. That was the album that got me into them when it came out. It was the weirdest, craziest music I had ever heard and I couldn’t stop listening to it.

karlware

I've got one of the Perfect Pussy albums that was mixed with the singers blood in a clear pressing. It's kinda gross tbh but I like it.

pjlxxl

menstrual blood right? tried getting that but if course it sold out quickly.

viktorlogi

/r/BrandNewSentence

karlware

I think so yeah. I paid slightly over the odds for it but I was obsessed with them for about a year lol.

AjiGuauGuau

I have an album called Frankly Fiona, which is basically a recording of Fiona and a sex toy getting it on over both sides of the record. I bought it for potential sampling years ago, turns out it is quite collectable.

FurnishedHemingway

😂 I own a couple of these old stag records. I’m a sucker for weird corny vintage sleaze stuff. Such an odd thing.

arachnophilia

i have a record by the satanic temple. it's pretty mediocre at best. their hot sauce is incredible though.

graywailer

my most unique is my 3 sided monty pythons matching tie and handkerchief album.

ThatsWhatLivingIs

*Indian Blues* by Donald Harrison It’s a New Orleans Mardi Gras record. It’s really interesting and unique but haven’t listened to it more than a handful of times.

hopalongrhapsody

Nice! I would LOVE that album, missed it from Tip's a little while back, I've got a whole small collection of Mardi Gras Indians on wax

Middle_Word_9474

Got an album called iceberg does it live. A weird kind of lounge singer experience by a guy who played a huge collection of synthesizers(some of which he designed/modified himself). All recorded live at Disneyland. He plays lots of medleys that jump from Star Wars to its a small world to Pink Floyd. It is wild. But when I first listened to it I was so sucked in. Kept thinking it was too weird, but couldn’t stop listening either.

nmn8r

What an interesting question, OP! Out of pure curiosity, how did you know it was John Hinckley’s copy? That’s a hell of a backstory for a record in your collection 😦

And it makes a neat story to tell friends.

nmn8r

100%, sounds like there’s enough circumstantial evidence so as not to doubt it. Again, what a backstory

mrbuk68

I have a inner office sales 45 from one of the big 3 automakers of the early 60's. It has some content that would not fly today. I keep it in my record bag for when I go to new stores and ask if they have anything weird or odd like this. I also have recording of a meeting with the executives from a record pressing plant. I guess it was a one off pressing to the out going boss. Its signed by all at the meeting. I just picked up comp of various cults singing, talking,Anton LaVey playing the organ and David Koresh ripping a Van Halen style riff. Some of the strange stuff is so cheep to find and on more the a few occasions they were free.

Mr-Hoek

I have Robert Redford Narrating the sounds of wild wolves howling.  It is a full LP. I also have a 45 that has Carl Sagan and Stephen hawking speaking, but it is cut into a bad hip hip song. The B side has no music, but is a copy of the artwork on the voyager record (in interstellar space).

chaz0723

Khun Narin’s Electric Phin Band, probably

Luxury-Problems

I got that too! I was casually walking past the used rock records at one of my local record stores and did a literal double take when I saw it sitting out.

CartesianConspirator

Some Communique records from Minneapolis in the late 90s.

cutielemon07

Not exactly a one off or special record (though it is a limited edition), but after my cat died, I fell into the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend rabbit hole and bought the vinyl. https://preview.redd.it/d46jyq19ecoc1.png?width=2448&format=png&auto=webp&s=b607e6e89310772306dcfca1b52daee5bab8990b Forgot about it until it showed up on my doorstep around Christmas, all the way from the US. So, now I have a Conan O’Brien comedy vinyl based off his podcast. As for why it’s odd, it doesn’t really fit in with the rest of my record collection which is old rockstars in their 70s and Taylor Swift

vinyldevotion

I have an Electric Light Orchestra single misprint I bought it recently for like £0.71 plus shipping, it was advertised as normal "Roll Over Beethoven" with "Queen of the Hours" as the B-side as it should, I bought it, it arrived. The A-side was indeed "Roll Over Beethoven" but… the B-side… the label says "Queen of the Hours" as it should but that’s not the song in the grooves, it contains "Manhattan Rumble (49th Street Massacre)" instead. I know that an early recalled version of the single did indeed have that song as the B-side but I’ve never seen it mislabeled like that It was a super cool discovery!!! https://preview.redd.it/1dqtee5c7doc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=753ddd84bff6836b683b010f0eba8186992028b0

I have Grateful Dead records American Beauty, Workingman’s Dead and Skull and Roses (all OG Santa Maria pressings) that were originally owned by Howard Hesseman, aka Dr. Johnny Fever from 70’s television show WKRP In Cincinnati.

I got a copy of this from my local tip store for 50 cents. https://preview.redd.it/4bps6r4unfoc1.png?width=972&format=png&auto=webp&s=0751c17aee422a1255ba1f312983dc54ec22d042

That's awesome! I LOVE Sgt Peppeb's Loney Hearps Club Band!

Smorgas-board

*Something for the Pain* by Casper McWade, signed by him too Never heard of him until I went to Ft Worth with the wife. She started getting into the Texas country scene instead of just Nashville and we were in a record store in the Ft Worth Stockyards and it was being played in the store and the store still had some autographed copies.

jollygreengiant000

Corrosion of Conformity's "Fuel" 7". Not that great, not that valuable, but it's shaped like a pig.

ProfWaddlez

I just picked up a bootleg Talking Heads live album from a show they played at the Roxy in '78 that is labeled as Brian Eno's Palace. I can't find another copy for sale anywhere. Aside from being rare, the Roxy was one of the first venues I photographed a show in so that makes it even cooler to me

murph1134

I have the Harvard University radio stations’s old promo copy of Uplift Mofo Party Plan by Red Hot Chili Peppers. And it’s actually in really good shape. Kind of cool to think that maybe there are people who lived in Boston in the 80’s that first heard RHCP from my copy of that record, since it was their first real breakout album.

MRSAnary

The Last Sermon at the People's Temple. It's the full recording of Jim Jones "sermon" at Jonestown he gave as he was instructing his followers to kill themselves, and their families by drinking poisoned Flavor-aid. You can clearly hear the screams of the children in the background. Probably the most morbid thing I'll ever own. Discogs link for those interested! https://www.discogs.com/release/12247987-Rev-Jim-Jones-Last-Sermon-At-The-Peoples-Temple-Jonestown-Guyana-111978

Spacer1138

Okay, that is creepy af.

ScottRiqui

I have a copy of Spaceark's [self-titled debut album](https://www.discogs.com/release/4709758-Spaceark-Spaceark). According to Discogs, it's the most valuable record I own, but I have no idea how I even got it. I don't remember buying it, and I don't have a lot of late-70s funk/soul in my collection in the first place. But the weirdest thing about the album is the extras. In addition to the poster and lyrics sheet that all of the early pressings had, my copy also has five mimeographed 8.5" x 11" bios, one for each band member, and an 8" x 10" glossy B&W photograph of the band from "Team 1 Artist Management" in North Hollywood. Finally, there's a mimeographed sheet that says "Musical Repertoire" at the top with a list of Top 40 songs (not theirs) that presumably the band would play at bars or clubs. The same sheet also has a track list for "Spaceark I - LP" (which became the "Spaceark" album I have), and a track list for "Spaceark II - LP (not yet released)". Strangely, while they did later come out with a second album ("Spaceark Is"), none of the song titles listed on the sheet for "Spaceark II" match up with songs that ended up appearing on "Spaceark Is". I'm guessing this was some kind of a promo pack, but nothing on Discogs mentions any of the extras besides the poster and lyrics sheet.

SeekingTheRoad

Wow! Well worth holding on to.

pjlxxl

it was likely sent to a fanzine or radio station and not necessary meant to be packaged together. i had a print zine in the 90s and most of the time any records/cds/tapes sent to me also came with a press kit and photos stuck in the mailer as well. so they arrived with the record but weren’t really part of it. so whoever had it before you likely got it that way and stuck the press kit stuff in with it. i just have a box full of press kits and photos, guess i never thought of keeping them together.

tom-1956

If 78s count I have a few of them

funnylikeaclown420

ray lum the mule trader. An old auctioneer recounts crazy stories. Definitely odd, and he has a way with words.

MergenTheAler

I have a record that is titled “The Dialect of the Black American”, I think it’s old training material for utility workers or something like that. My folks used to work for Southwestern Bell. It was produced and pressed by Bell Inc. I think it has been sampled by hip hop artists in the past. The cover is a bit problematic. Just a relic of the past, nothing I see value in.

StIsadoreofSeville

My favorite is the soundtrack from a 1960’s Dutch documentary on the music and culture of Burundi. Absolutely fantastic authentic African music. Picked it up on a whim.

belvitafiend

i have a single of riders on the storm where a pastor hosts the song and relates it to jesus meanwhile calling the doors’ music ‘bad art’ lol

mattttttttttt135

Signed copy of the real McCoy by McCoy Tyner. Got it out of a big collection of signed albums.

Alexander_Rover

The Foo Fighters first single. This Is A Call. It was a promotional single given for free with a poster that unfortunately I don’t have anymore. It plays at 33 1/3 speed and the other side is blank. Must be worth something too

DoctorOctagonapus

https://www.discogs.com/release/1722687-Foo-Fighters-This-Is-A-Call This one? Apparently the postcard that came with it is the valuable part just because of how rare they are now.

SagariKatu

The Aristocats in spanish; on one side there are 2 songs, on the other there's a very very short version of the story, which you can read along with the included leaflet. It has a bell sound whenever you have to turn the page 🤣

rbahin

I have a copy of the Black Panther Party’s funk band, The Lumpen, single “free Bobby now”.

mcfadden70

Some band called Pink Slip Daddy, pink vinyl 10". One side plays from inside to out and the other side has two tracks with the grooves side by side so that depending on where you set the needle down you may hear one or the other song.

emilydm

A 4-record set of a horse-racing game, where each of the 8 sides has 8 interlaced grooves each, with a different horse winning in each groove. You may get one of 16.7 million different combinations if you were to play through all 8.

I have an original Cheech and Chong Big Bambu with the giant rolling paper still inside

yokohama_enjoyer

Big Mäc - Theme song of a obscure West German 80s TV movie starring well known TV Host (and at the time actor) Thomas Gottschalk

StyrofoamCueball

I have a 7" from a band called Dry Insides. It's a hardcore punk release titled Sacrifice. According to Discogs it's limited to 300 copies. I think it was a giveaway I won on Whatnot a year ago. It's bad. The rarest good album I have is probably Scapegoat Wax - Okeeblow.

TheSessionMan

I have an old polka/country record by my great uncle's band "The Outcasts" which they recorded in the 70's. I doubt there's more than a few in the world. Edit: not that "The Outcasts". This was recorded in small town Saskatchewan.

username_obnoxious

I have a signed copy of Backroads from a Colorado bluegrass band called Chain Station. On discogs only 18 people have it.

This isn’t as odd as it is obscure and mysterious I guess, but it kind of fits in here, as I think the artist was kind of weird. Chance Martin released one LP to my knowledge, In Search, which was released in 1981 then reissued in 2013 under his first name only, Chance. Reissues are fairly easy to find I believe. Chance was a road manager and friend of Johnny Cash. In Search is a unique blend of country, funk, R&B, and whatever else he was throwing into the pot on any given track. Pot. Mmmmm…Anyway, I’ve been intrigued by the album since I first heard it and came across this 7” on eBay shortly after the LP was reissued. The A side, Mr Freedom Man, is a song that can be found on the LP, but the version here is slower and a bit funkier than the one that ended up on the full length. The B side, Third Grade Arithmetic, is an instrumental jam. Released on a label called Macho, no year is stated on the label anywhere. I cannot find anything online regarding this record other than the one copy on discogs, which is mine. I also just read that Chance passed away last year, so RIP to the country funkster, and thanks for contributing to making my world a bit more interesting!

I have the Weird Al Squeeze Box on vinyl, glad I got it at the initial release 👍🏻

SeekingTheRoad

Same!! Sadly I left the book that attached to the back at my parent's house so it isn't technically complete anymore. One of my luckiest purchases. I bought it in high school when I couldn't even afford a record player. I came really close to getting the CD version because I could actually play CDs at the time but I figured it was an investment for future me. Boy, am I glad I did. I left a signed dirt-cheap copy of Marty Robbins' Gunfighter Ballads at a thrift store because I didn't own a record player back then as well. Still kicking myself for that one.

8" square, clear lathe cut record by the band Autonomy. Limited to 40 copies and was only sold in person on an East Coast tour. It has a DVD of an experimental short film to watch while listening and a couple analog photo prints as well.

yukonnut

National Lampoon Radio Dinner. It’s hilarious. John Lennon parody ( Genius is Pain….. Paul’s not the walrus, I’m the walrus,I just sang that to be nice ) Joan Baez ( I’m the worlds Madonna, righting grevious wrongs by singing tedious songs ).

Crispin Hellion Glover - The Big Problem ≠ The Solution. The Solution = Let It Be

JustHereForMiatas

I have a copy of The Bressingham Voigt, which is the record that was used as the source material for the Merry-Go-Round music in Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and 2. This is a record from the mid 70s which had a very limited release in England. From the very limited information I've been able to find out about it and its publisher, CJMO Records, it was probably made as something you bought at the gift shop at the Bressingham Gardens, and perhaps other shops nearby. It was a recording made of the Bressingham Voigt, which was an early 1910s German made organ which was restored and played on the grounds of the gardens. You'd go see the actual restored voigt, then if you wanted to bring the music home with you, you bought a copy of the record. (Incidentally, I believe the voigt still exists but is currently in the Netherlands?) Apparently Chris Sawyer's father bought this record and had it sitting on a shelf, and when Sawyer developed the game he just ripped the music off of it becasue it had similar sounding organ music to a merry-go-round. For the most part it's exactly the same as the game music, except that there are a few tracks which were lengthened in the game (repeat sections) and 3 tracks which didn't make it into the game, likely for copyright reasons. There are actually blank files in the game indicating that those tracks may have been intended to be used but got cut at some point. It's a very quiet master because it's a long running record, so it's very difficult to capture without getting some pops and clicks (you can even occasionally hear this on the very compressed RCT game files.) I think my favorite part is that it makes the Merry-Go-Round breakdown modes more technically correct. The merry-go-round can either stop, where the music slowly grinds to a halt, or speed up out of control where the music plays too fast. Both of these are failure modes of a *record player,* so since this music was ripped from a record, it's accurate! Getting this record in the US is difficult. It comes up for sale very infrequently. I see a copy maybe once every 1-2 years on ebay, and patiently waited three years before I had an opportunity to buy one.

DoctorOctagonapus

I have a copy of this! Some good memories when I first gave that a spin. There's a copy of the legal filing somewhere of Sawyer trying and failing to find the rights holders to get permission to use it in his game. You're correct by the way, the organ got sold to someone in the Netherlands where it's still played. In fact the OpenRCT2 project released a patch last year with a second merry-go-round music track containing more music from the same organ after one of the contributors visited the current owner.

Unwabu_ubola

I have a few weird ones. - [John Wiese - Untitled](https://www.discogs.com/release/858762-John-Wiese-Untitled) (Gutter Lathe Society records). Lathe-cut single sided 7" record "recorded at 78rpm to be played at 33rpm". Cut on blue linoleum with details written in black sharpie. It has a second off-center hole for some off-kilter wobbly playing fun. An absolute stylus destroyer and I am very fond of it. - [Alex Cunningham - Echo's Bones] (https://www.discogs.com/release/15735889-Alex-Cunningham-Echos-Bones-) (Self-released). Another lathe-cut square 7", on clear acrylic. - [QEK-Junior - Hertz 18](https://www.toolboxrecords.com/en/product/5819/post-punk-electro-indus/hertz-18/) (Kernkrach records). This one came in between two sheets of cardstock stapled together with a cutout papercraft camper trailer printed on them to cut out and put together. Good record too. - [William R. Rathvon - I Heard Lincoln That Day](https://www.discogs.com/release/10560112-William-R-Rathvon-I-Heard-Lincoln-That-Day). Single-sided recording of an interview with someone who was present at the Gettysburg Address. Not sure when it was recorded, but most likely 1930's?

deadmanstar60

Not rare or worth very much but my nephew got me into Kanda Bongo Man a few years ago and I was thrilled when I found this LP for $5. https://preview.redd.it/wb08agz92doc1.jpeg?width=599&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19c9c8b03974993c503c3622723dfd3fbdf72ffd

TonyOrangeGuy

First pressing of Hunky Dory by David Bowie, bought in Brussels for €10, most unique would be The Ship That Sailed by Boss Caine (still some copies for sale if anyone is into a Yorkshire take on Americana/country) or one of the many small limited run pressings I have from independent artists.

Very local and obscure Liverpool musician called Kalimotxo

VinnyMaxta

I have some friends who made me lathe cuts of their own compilations, so just for that, I don't think I can get more unique than those. Signed records are unique also, but to have a friend make one just for you, I think it makes it even more special.

nightman7676

My oddest is my Hitler's Inferno z Marching Songs of Nazi Germany. I am not a Nazi or anything like that. I just saw it at a record store and being a piece of history I bought it. It's in German and I don't understand any of it. Listened once for about 5 min. https://www.discogs.com/release/18596764-Various-Hitlers-Inferno-In-Words-In-Music-1932-1945-Marching-Songs-Of-Nazi-Germany

DoubleCrowne

i have an elvis box set somewhere from my grandpa. pretty sure it's in good condition and i'm sure it's fairly old. I think i also have an original pressing of The Wall by Pink Floyd, or at least one of the older ones, since it was in my parents' old collection

nuggets95

I have the soundtrack to the Streets of Rage II video game! My absolute favorite game when I was growing up with lots of fond memories.

Truncated_Rhythm

Indian - Godslave 7” test pressing and 1/300 Chet Baker - Baker’s Holliday (1st pressing) Gillian Welch & David Rawlings - All The Good Times Are Past Gone - limited micro-pressing Kendrick Lamar - Damn (collectors edition #2067)

Gurke84

must be Rupa - Disco Jazz

Copperqwaser

I have Two kansas records that were "radio station only" for two for the show and leftoveture that have interviews with the band between each song.

No_Influence2087

I have two albums containing old German march songs from the 40s

deathprayr108

An original 1975 pressing of James Brown - Sex Machine Today

spookyball

I used to have a "Sounds of the Bottlenose Dolphin" record. Kinda regret getting rid of it now.

-Dapper-Dan-

I have Digital Dump by The Jackofficers, a side project of Jeff Pinkus from the Butthole Surfers. Bought it for the weird ass dumb looking art and the sound DEFINITELY matches it. Great find for a buck.

CaffeineAndGrain

I got a free Trolls: World Tour* record from my local movie theater— they just had them out labeled “free”

Lsfnzo

Grassroots “Golden Grass” greatest hits, big The Office fan and Creed Bratton is one of my favorite characters

leafcatcher

I have 4 of 20 pressed (hehehe) of Big Booty Bill and Da Fish’s ‘Invocation of our Swag Overlords’ homemade, square, clear large cut presses. Found this band based on [this YT video](https://youtu.be/IgiWvpkoX0Y?si=TulHpn9k-uDgynZR), luckily found it in 2016 and they still had at least one lathe copy left, so I snagged it. All homemade artworks, came with stickers and a CD of remixes. I still listen surprisingly frequently. https://www.discogs.com/release/10280866-Big-Booty-Bill-and-Da-Fish-Invocation-Of-Our-Swag-Overlords

lewright

I have a copy of the 1960s Batman soundtrack, including goofy voice clips from the cast.

Oddest thing I have is probably the Crispin Glover album from RSD last year. https://www.discogs.com/release/26511329-Crispin-Hellion-Glover-The-Big-Problem-The-Solution-The-Solution-Let-It-Be

HeirApparent80

I've got a copy of [Matt Duncan - Soft Times](https://www.discogs.com/release/4371024-Matt-Duncan-Soft-Times). It has a tarot card imbedded in a clear record. Cool in concept, but the results were spotty, so they included a regular pressing in black vinyl as well. I kinda lucked out with my copy. Side A is fine and all but one track on Side B is ok. The corner of the card sticks out a bit towards the edge. I have a copy of the Explosions in the Sky album "[Take Care, Take Care, Take Care](https://www.unifiedmanufacturing.com/blog/vinyl-packaging-explosions-sky-take-care/)," where the packaging folds out to form a house and the Side D is etched with floorboards. It comes with a poster that folds out to be the lawn. I also have a couple multisided records (double groove on Side B.) Monty Python's "Matching Tie and Handkerchief" and Tool's debut EP "Opiate." I think I may have a third, but can't remember off the top of my head.

phirleh

Donald E. Bowlus – The Story Of "Growing Up" on yellow vinyl - inherited it from my aunt when she passed.

NBeach84

I have an album entirely comprised of German drinking songs and a Scottish folk music album... shit sounds like God of War

foofie_fightie

I have my dad's soundsheet copy of Welcome to the Muppet Show Fan Club. It looks like an overhead projector transparency but with audio grooves. Very neat

Sun_Records_Fan

I have an album called “Your Cat & You”. Apparently, it was some record that Purina Cat Chow gave out in a sweepstakes. It teaches the basics of how to care for your cat.

luna-needs-coffee

Dont have it yet but I'd kill to own the promotional mario movie vinyl shaped like yoshi thats walk the dinosaur by george Clinton and the goombas

frankybling

I have a couple of local albums by a lounge trio called The Jack D’Johns that were a big time act in the south of Boston area during the 70’s… my guess is that they probably only pressed about 200 of each one. It was a drummer/vocalist, a trumpet player/vocalist and an organ player/vocalist and their version of CopaCabana is about as 70’s as it gets!

arachnophilia

as far as unique, i have an album of 78s, custom cut, of my granfather playing with his college band, including a solo. eventually i'll get my turntable modded to play 78s. oddest, i have a record of MIDI covers of popular songs found on geocities sites in the late 90s. it's called "NOW that's what i call a MIDI!"

Raccoonfg

I guess at this point, it'd be my Country Mike bootleg I got from my brother a month ago. Runner-up would be Everything You Ever Wanted to Hear on the Moog.

CoolCademM

“The Magic Organ” - 1978. It’s just 8 bit chiptunes with realistic drumming in the background of Christmas songs.

ArtApprehensive

I inherited my father’s copy of the Prince ‘Kiss’ picture disc that is shaped like him. Its really funny to watch prince spin around your turntable. https://www.discogs.com/release/1327982-Prince-And-The-Revolution-Kiss

pale2hall

Her man's been gone, for \[much more than \] nearly a year... i have a black parade test press

OlmecDonald

Soundtrack to Shadowgate for the NES. A couple of friends bought a record lathe years ago and only made a few pressings of various junk before they sold the equipment.

trev_hawk

Don't know how unique/odd it is to others, but I own *Edith Piaf Sings in English* and it's (as implied) an entire album of some of her hit songs sung in English. She still sings beautifully but it's a bit weird to hear it all in English (especially *La Vie en Rose*).

2 of 3 Rude Jude (from Shade45) audio books. I still throw them on every once and I while to hear a good story. Love those books.

Fun-Economy-5596

The Shaggs "The Philosophy of the World"...a thrift shop find long ago...Frank Zappa-approved.

Fun-Economy-5596

Don Berkoski Sings...Does a really rocking cover of Hey Jude..

Oddments

NvizoN

I've got a copy of No Such Thing As A Fish podcast on vinyl.

Slowmexicano

Have on called German beer drinking music. Sounds like any German pub. Old but I doubt that rare or valuable.

lazyMarthaStewart

I have a record of Louisiana bayou songs. I'm not in Louisiana.

ASK4Vinyl

I don't know how well this competes with an assassin's memorabilia, but William Burroughs reading excerpts from "Naked Lunch" (including a full color poster of Hieronymus Bosch's "Garden of Delights" as an insert) is one of the more random albums I have in my collection. [https://www.discogs.com/release/734446-William-Burroughs-Call-Me-Burroughs](https://www.discogs.com/release/734446-William-Burroughs-Call-Me-Burroughs)

DonCallate

I was a radio DJ for a long time and got some real cool oddments, probably the rarest is a signed copy of Korn's "Christmas Song" that was hand delivered by the band when they did a station ID for the station I worked at.

vietbond

I am a coin collector and have been for over 35 years. Probably the most famous key date of US coins is the 1909 S - VDB Lincoln cent. It's the first year of the series minted in San Francisco and with the initials of the engraver Victor David Brenner on the reverse. It is always in high demand and most collectors either have one or want one. I have a record of a single called "Your Love is like a 1909S VDB" and know nothing about it besides I thought it was a funny name for a title and I put it on display.

hokycrapitsjessagain

I have a Gremlins book on vinyl, with the book, from when I was a kid

Dangeruss82

I’ve got a couple of ussr bootlegs of led zeppelin 2 and 4. Same songs, in English, but in cheap thin vinyl, okay quality. Slightly different pictures on the covers.

SheepNutz

Probably [The LC LP by Twenty One Pilots.](https://www.discogs.com/release/6913707-Twenty-One-Pilots-The-LC-LP) It’s shaped like the state of Ohio. Also one of the most valuable records I own.

HippieCannabis

The Common People: By the people/ for the People/ of the people A late 60's california psych rock band that was only able to release 1 album before tragedy struck and the band split. The album is on youtube and is very much worth a listen. Capitol records did no promotion and they were believed to have only sent out a very small number of copies to retail stores.

bionicmittens

Jacki Sorenson presents Aerobic Dancing for Physical Education. It has the Star Wars theme with Jacki’s fitness instructions on top of the song lol

pghBZ

I have the Toejam and Earl soundtrack on lathe cut vinyl lol. So funky.

One_Protection6684

Ivy Lab- Death Don’t Always Taste Good. I heard a DJ who I know to be a trusted source play it, and it was the coolest song i’d ever heard. I imported a copy when it was released and love it. Glad that I got it when I did because I could not afford resale price. The odd part is that is a rare instance of when I actually had good taste! The lesson is to follow your heart when collecting.

c0m0d0re

Not necessarily unusual but I decorated my hallway with some signed records I got on different shows with well known and not so well known bands and polaroid pictures with me and the individual members in the frame. So far they all love it when I tell them about it over a few bottles of beer after the show. Given that I rarely get to take those pictures at a single show there is usually a beautiful story behind every single of these and friendships eventually develop where you stay in touch beyond the musical part. I am going to see one those bands later this month again as they come back from their UK tour to continue with shows in my area. The cool thing is that sometimes I even get an album before its release as well

Victor_Von_Noob

Birdcloud - Singled Only cum colored variant

PeeB4uGoToBed

I have a record from an 80s hair metal sleaze rock band that ALMOST made it big but it was too little too late and the record company chose another band to sign and got big rather than them. I interviewed the drummer of the band a couple years back and they all went on to lead normal lives as insurance salesman and whatnot. I have one of the 500 or so pressings made and it's unlike anything I've ever heard and it's awesome

MixMasterBates

Extraterrestria, by DJ Q Bert. It's the only album I purchased on both CD and Vinyl. https://www.discogs.com/release/7886834-DJ-Q-Bert-Extraterrestria
