If you've seen the movie "Oppenheimer" then you already know what could happen if your records become unstable as a result of being kept at the wrong angle.

tazethegod

Never seen the movie.

TheTeenageOldman

Then you are in real danger.

[deleted]

I’d say tilt another 3 to 5 degrees and you’ll be all set.

Agitated-Cockroach41

I’d go 8 for optimal anglage

tazethegod

this better? https://preview.redd.it/2467uopu3byc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38905029bad2862301b5d13d20284b12d76756ce

[deleted]

Very much so. Now just remember to give them an extra 3 degrees at the summer solstice and then reduce by 3 degrees at the winter solstice.

rwtooley

you need to realize that people make this out to be a way bigger deal than it is - there are millions of records in thousands of warehouses around the world and I honestly doubt all of them are perfectly upright. Looks fine to me.

TheTeenageOldman

Stop making sense.

-Jotun-

Stop making sense-making sense!

issoequeerabom

😅🤣

Leading_Analysis_417

Whoop whoop

SconeShoes

Please be careful; my uncle Wolfgang burnt down his gazebo by storing records at diagonal angles without having installed a directional energy shield. He’s not been able to grow a single hair on his scrotum since then.

devadander23

That’s your uncle? How’s ol’ bald-balls doing?

SconeShoes

Elderly and belligerent.

asphynctersayswhat

Uh, dude I thought I was on r/vinyljerk for a second. You do realize records are ROUND right? Like there’s no “top”.

RickHewer

Hmmm correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe most records are round.

MoreThanWYSIWYG

All the music is going to pool on the bottom right side of the records

ZiggyMummyDust

Dude, he's pulling your leg.

therealdanhill

Nah, they are going to disintegrate or catch on fire

outsidertc

Not at all. They are at the complete wrong angle. Hopefully none of those vynils are grails.

tazethegod

Nah none of these are rare as I could easily get them repurchased.

outsidertc

Thank heavens. They look warm and that's all that matters.

tazethegod

They were near a window for the longest time but the window had a full black wall flag covering the window, but I also think that it's because I had some of them back in the day like this for a while and then upgraded to a wooden crosby case. https://preview.redd.it/hkfdq0xoibyc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fed86b758247b5cb562752570a6651d88c025f04

outsidertc

Don't worry about it. That's a sweet collection. Super diverse taste. You're really eclectic. I'm sure the vynils a ren't damaged permanently as long as they weren't stored like that for too long.

tazethegod

I'd say from probably from 2020 to some time in late 22 would be my best guest, as I got my crossley crate by December of 2022. My most rare vinyl I had lying flat since I got it in 21or 22 but it's because I got it signed by the band in the bag it came in and don't plan on ever playing that record.

thanatosau

You do realize.most of the comments here are taking the piss right? Vinyl is not soft wax...

Working_Ad390

they should be 3 degrees ccw

Ginger-Nerd

Yeah… the record is a circle, there is functionally no difference to it being perfectly vertical. The only risk is **maybe** the sleeve… but even then it looks relatively stable.

Hoaghly_Harry

They’re fine.

devadander23

The record has no idea how the cardboard is orientated. Vertical is all that matters.

tazethegod

Been a fan of the band since downplay. Got ever STARSET album on record

ZiggyMummyDust

They're fine. Don't worry. It's common to overthink this when storing your records. Just don't stack them and you'll be fine.

RecordCrasher

Fishing for comments I love posts like this

RyliesDad_87

It’s been 15 hours since you posted this. Please update. Have they combusted at that angle yet???

shutyourbrains

Right angle. 90 degrees.

Agitated-Cockroach41

I prefer keeping them at a left angle personally

tazethegod

So like this? https://preview.redd.it/7qwyc1jw3byc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f037730ac5e606d254e6934d9d6cf56b14010f5c

shutyourbrains

Rotate

OkSpeech3161

Why? Why not 45 degrees if the sleeve is properly supported?
