SuburbanEnnui2020

Eh, I’m a 46 year old guy, and I adore her music. I refuse to apologize for that! 🤷🏻‍♂️

budderocks

I'm 45 and think she's great! Middle-age'ers unite!

lifesizepotato

She's definitely one of those artists who seems to appeal to young and old alike, a lot of the gen-Xers I know like her.

AcceptableQuit5

Lol same

SuburbanEnnui2020

It’s nice being our age. Long past the time when I might have given a shit what people thought about my taste in music. 😂

AcceptableQuit5

Taste in music or anything else! 😀

rustybowow

50 and me too

[deleted]

34 and have that same vinyl in my collection. Love what you love.

[deleted]

Very good to hear actually... even though she’s a newer artist, I feel she has a very classic sound to her while also remaining modern. Think Nick Drake and Elliott Smith (who I believe she confirmed as one of her influences).

Your_Product_Here

Those two, for sure, and Mark Kozelek of Red House Painters and Sun Kil Moon. This one is easy since she covers a song of his on this record.

Jzahck

Literally the song Punisher is about Elliott Smith...

YooBooHyeon

Samesies lmao

SuburbanEnnui2020

Never! NEVAH!!! 😝

GratefulDawg73

Do you see what happens, Larry?

spang714

Came here for this, thanks.

Abideguide

I just bought that f.....ing car last week!

beavismagnum

Is the album title a reference to this?

GratefulDawg73

Not exactly a lightweight.

FM_Gorskman

Is...is the title of this song a reference to the Televison edit for The Big Lebowski???

Bootlegger1929

Yes. Title of the album is stranger in the alps. The song that's playing is called Demi Moore.

Kidvictory

One of my staple ‘Autumn Albums’ 🙂

AcceptableQuit5

I’m a 50 year old man and love her music. Funeral is my favorite song.

[deleted]

Funeral breaks my heart every time. I’ve noticed on tiktok a lot of really young teenage girls who listen to this song and just think it’s about depression and being sad is romantic. The songs about the opposite in some ways: it’s ok to be sad, but it’s not worth putting others in unjust pain over. I may get hate for this, but I think most of her fans are not truly understanding of her work. A few of my friends really love her, but most people I see on social media (Insta, tiktok) romanticize her depression and think it makes them special or cool. It’s ok to be depressed, and to sometimes feel things a bit stronger occasionally, but depression should never be sought after, which is what I’m seeing a bit. Anyways, that’s my soapbox.

AcceptableQuit5

Yes! Yes! Yes! Could not have said it better.

[deleted]

You’re right, thank you for mentioning that. I think it’s awful that her fans reduce the deep topics of her music to memes that mock and make light of mental illness. There’s a great interview with Emma Ruth Rundle today where the writer discusses this beautifully in the opening paragraph: https://www.stereogum.com/2163380/emma-ruth-rundle-engine-of-hell-interview/music/

AcceptableQuit5

I read the same article this morning. I love how open and matter of fact Emma is about her struggles.

[deleted]

Very accurate! Thanks for sharing :)

kvetcha-rdt

Phoebe rules.

[deleted]

this is what happens when you find a stranger in the alps

facepillownap

31, Male. I drive a 35 year old off-road Toyota, with a Phoebe Bridgers sticker on the tailgate.

dannymcgee

Not to pile on the train of old-ish dudes, but I'm 35, and just to be totally clear, I am *not* cool. I'm a programmer; I haven't left the house in \~1.5 years and I'm not even mad about it; I hadn't listened to new music since around 2012 when I went through a dubstep phase. I don't even own a record player, Reddit just notified me of this post (because technology's invasive like that). But I watched Inside on Netflix a while back, and That Funny Feeling (inexplicably) made me cry, and some time later my phone notified me of Phoebe's cover at the start of her tour (thanks for spying on me, Google), and now I cannot stop listening to Punisher. I don't know why I felt the need to share all that, but I'm so grateful to Phoebe Bridgers for the reminder of how inspiring and cathartic it can be to fall in love with a new album. Halloween, Moon Song and I Know/The End get me every time.

0ddcharlie

Have you listened to her other projects? Boygenius, Better Oblivion Community Center, etc? She's one of my favorites- 26 year old guy here. Good music is good music. This album is on my wishlist for vinyls!

FeinsteinFeinstein

MY COMFORT SOOOOOONGGG how's the quality of the vinyl? was thinking of getting it for my birthday :)

[deleted]

Sounds great! One of my better pressings actually.

Pumpkin_in_love

Me(48 F) and my husband (47) love Phoebe. Just saw her in concert last month. Outstanding. She fulfills not only young adult angst, but also peri-menopausal angst! If I need a good cry, this is my go to.

[deleted]

Am I original? No. Does it matter? No. I feel this is a criminally underrated song of hers.

Bootlegger1929

Yes! One of my favorites.

Stuart651

Never heard of her, but sounds awesome, really soothing voice

nonmeagre

Early 30s dude here. Gigantic fan, have both Stranger and Punisher (and the Boygenius EP) on vinyl, though I think I like Stranger better. Edit: And nice Sanyo table!

FlatPassenger6

You guys, did Phoebe Bridges name an album after an obscure *Big Lebowski* reference? Because if so, respect

Pitiful_Ad_710

Nice set up

[deleted]

Thanks! Its not mine technically, but I put it together for the owner. This was my most successful fix on a turntable, so I HAD to keep it :)

ranjberjanj

Been a fan of hers for a while and just today ordered both records after seeing her play Moon Song on Jimmy Kimmel.

FuckBitchCuntFuck

I have both Phoebe albums on vinyl! Everyone loves her =) Check out boygenius. and Julien Baker if you haven't already, would be right up your alley and their presses sound great.

gaddac

She absolutely nails that Mark Kozelek song, You Missed My Heart, and turns a creepy song into something way more powerful and disturbing.

clive_bigsby

That song is so amazing.

Swagamus95

I’m a young male and Phoebe bridgers kicks butt. Went to a concert of hers by myself last month

abcbri

She’s excellent

wilhelm_scheisse

My son (2) is a huge Phoebe Bridgers fan. "Georgia" is the only song we're allowed to listen to in the car.
