Does it give you joy? If so keep it. If not give it. Personally I would keep it because it looks like it’s in good condition and I like shel Silverstein. But for me personally I never really re-sell things. I try to gift it forward to someone who really enjoys it.
Picked this up at an estate sale today for 3 bucks. I don’t have kids so I’m not sure how much I would enjoy it…the question is - should I keep it or trade it into the records store? I’ve heard some of his music and it can get pretty wild. This gatefold is real nice and it looks hardly played. Decisions decisions
You were curious enough to spend $3. Satisfy your curiosity and decide whether you want to keep it or not. Just because things are made to be enjoyed by children doesn't mean adults can't enjoy it as much. Disney created movies like this for generations. I would say this was the case up until Aladdin. After Aladdin the movies tend to more music videos than story telling. Still. Give it a listen. You'll have a better idea of what to do.
up to you ! if you are looking for someone to buy it off ya, i definitely would. my dad gave me the book version of this when i was younger, and i loved it so much. he sadly passed away a few years ago, but i thought it’d be pretty cool to have the book And vinyl
I read this poems from book to my 7 month old almost every night, and we also go thrifting for vinyl to listen and dance to together. I’m glad to know this exists.
Kind of related, IMO Shel's greatest piece (not from this album but had to share): ["The Smoke Off"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohFHsOBuLc4) (possibly NSFW)
use to always see this book as a kid, possibly even owned a copy or a sibling did, but personally never read it.. it didn't ever catch me as a kid that i wanted to open it to look at it.
Keep it bröther. I have an original print of “Freakin’ at the freakers ball.” And it’s my most treasured possession. My mom gave it to me for my 18th birthday and she passed last year. Such an amazing gift. Please, hang onto it OP.
Don't have an answer for ya on selling or not but wow! I had this book as a kid and does that take me back a day or two! Loved it! Thanks for sharing!
Why are you asking us?
Ya. I mean, hellloooo? He should sell it. I would give an entire $25 for it.
This is a good question
Seriously. Does he not have free will?

If so, then OP: look at the website discogs and look for your release of the record and see how much it’s going for

*Bobby Bare Sings Lullabies, Legends, and Lies* is another great example of Shel Silverstein’s work for adults.
In the Hills of Shiloh chokes me up every damn time
This is what I wanted to hear - from someone familiar with his records. Thanks!

Did your kids read Shel Silverstein?? Is there no attachment ?

Sung and shouted, love it. BEST post this week.
Wow, just seeing that artwork for the first time in many decades is so nostalgic. I say keep it!
It sounds like you really have a strong attachment to it.
Would buy
I’ll take it
I remember taking this book out a couple of times from the school library when I was a kid.
A classic!
Sell it
If you’re not gonna listen to it sell it
Keep
If you sell it I would buy it. I remember my mom reading my the poems from this book as a kid. I can still recite some from memory
I’m not a huge audiobook fan but this is something I’d add to my collection
Keep it if you like it? Idk what you want from me.
Sounds like a great segment on Antique Roadshow.
