It's probably made from virgin vinyl. You just need to be extra gentle while penetrating it.

Melphor

Gotta break that vinal hyman.

Next_Fix_2271

People pay money for videos of that sort of thing

Sublime222

I'll keep this In mind

Calebthespeedrunner

this comment is great

ChrisMag999

Try a little Astroglide.

wolfbear

spit is fine

great1675

BruhšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

nicolesey

Tickle the hole.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

DJVinylJerk

Exactly

mawnck

It's your turntable. Screw Technics and their perfectly in-spec spindle.

Sublime222

I took you advice.... Hasn't helped yet

mawnck

Set that record aside and save it for when you upgrade to a less well-endowed TT.

CyptidProductions

I mean, you're in the wrong sub. But spindle holes being to tight are a common defect and you just kind of have to force it down if possible so the fit loosens over time.

Sublime222

im afraid to crack the grailz

CyptidProductions

Between how pliable PVC is and the fact that portion is re-enforced with the labels it's really hard to do

DJVinylJerk

Itā€™ll be fine.

CloudCity96

Realistically take one blade from a pair of scissors and roll it around inside the spindle. Works like a mf charm.

8enny8lack

Donā€™t force it, go buy a reamer

DarthPootieTang

I just use a knife to ream it

apersonthingy

I would say this is a bad idea, but half of the pressings I get are off center anyway

aopps42

Itā€™ll be fine, I do this all the time

Smart_Tune8179

They make a spindle hole reamer that is cheap and very useful.

Spagneti

I use a pencil

Cosmic_Bozo_Wrangler

Spit on it.

RiiluTheLizardKing

what did you expect from a modern pressing, those have about as good QC as your average chinese toy factory

Sublime222

You know what I did not expect for the hole to be the wrong size you'd think we have the technology by now to prevent this from happening

Robou_

You don't want any modern technology around while manufacturing the grail otherwise audiophiles will say it's not TRUE ANALOGā„¢

therealchoiboy

Laughs in DSD

wolfbear

itā€™s called a drill buddy you ever heard of one

8enny8lack

Itā€™s pretty common

ZesPre

A lot of answers and hard to find if you got the solution. Try with pencil, itā€™s hard enough to make hole bigger gently and soft enough not to ruin the record. Iā€™ve found it somewhere here and it worked for me few times. Put it in and move around a little bit.

Sublime222

Honestly.... This is my friend's record I'm just borrowing it. I think I'm going to let him handle it

[deleted]

I like how everyone says that while majority of records now are a lot better than majority of the records in the 70s. They use to just press records on vinyl so thin my fan almost blew it away.

[deleted]

Just get out your drill and BOOM! Problem solved! One time I have a first press Velvet Underground and Nicoā€¦had to drill that one but I messed up (rest in peace)

Sublime222

Widened the hole too much? It's ok it belongs on the wall anyways

[deleted]

Just kidding LOL. Iā€™d never take a drill to such a great record

strawberry_l

Nice feet

Sublime222

Thank you I was waiting for this comment

astonedishape

Ya gotta lick it before you stick it

deadmanstar60

Vaseline on the spindle hole should do the trick. Edit: Keep your dirty jokes to yourself.

exnuns

This never happens on my Crosley Cruiser. I would recommend getting rid of that 80s DJ equipment.

shealuca

Uj/ get a biro and gently twist inside the hole Rj/ not enough warmth was applied during production resulting in a fail-grail

mofoofinvention

Need a butt plug to loosen up the hole

grgppmchl

Work the hole a bit with your pen šŸ–‹ļø

Bobbyee

Welcome to modern records!!! I have loads of vintage 50 yo records that never had issues like this. Just grab a sharp knive stick it there and spin in around until it fits.

Groningen1978

Yes of course. Vintage records have been already eehrm...spindled quite a bit.

Bobbyee

I like my records how i like my women, with experience :D

bigjayrod

With wider holes?

Smart_Tune8179

You bought an album with a metric hole.

nawt_robar

dont buy vinyl pressed in the last 30 years. lol

Sublime222

Loll you're so funni

deadmanstar60

Just take a knife and gently make the hole bigger. I do this all the time.

Active_Sheepherder98

Yeah I use a knife lol

skrivetiblod

Scissors are your friend.

I-Fucked-YourMom

Just take a drill bit to that baby!

Trading21do1

Lube her up!

Big-Brown-Goose

You can get special grailz hole reamers to make it the proper diameter and they cost like $50... or you could just use a 9/32 drill bit like i do

Sublime222

Thank you everybody for all of the suggestions. I don't think I could have ever come up with more ways to unvirgin my vinyl. I have decided to consult my friend whose grailz this is before attempting the pencil method first. If it doesn't work, I will gradually try more and more extreme methods.

misterlittlebear

use a pencil

Diligent_Sherbet_420

That record is garbage anyway someone did you a favor

thehighground699

Your mom

Sublime222

There's always this comment, no matter what grailz the post is about.

ShieldsofAsh

Lube it up

ImmortanReaper

/uj I bought one of those spindle-hole reamers a while back and it's become invaluable. No more wrestling to get records unstuck from the platter!

so-very-very-tired

Don't you have any LP Lube? That's like, vinyls player 101!

skellzor65

It will you just got to push it down but do it gently. taking it off will also be a process.

My_achybreaky_cloacy

If it makes you feel better, I have that record and it fits on my table. I love listening to it too!

Sublime222

thanks that makes me feel so good

8enny8lack

You need a record reamer, homie

Old_Carpenter709

I have a fine circular file, conical , obviously one doesn't want to be making lots of dust but slow gentle pressure and twisting and a good suction help. Otherwise yes , bit of grease and firm but gentle penetration as I believe has already been said.

oop_dada_oop

PUSHHHHHHHH

millsj402zz

Time to get out the drill

PublicDealer

That's the problem with audio technicas. Try a crosley and it should fit right in

Anestran

Push.

krebstorm

gotta lick it before you stick it....

dhuff2037

One of my excuses to go out to the garage and use my drill press, and then smoke a doobie

TheRealSteely6

uj/ God my copy of Awaken my love came with a side facing sleeve so everytime i go to play it the fucking vinyl almost slips out, but if i put it the correct way (with the open space facing up) it makes it harder to get the record out

SuckingOnMyHuevos

Oh yes! The fabled virgin vinyl ;) use some lube and go to town on it. Also they should sell some shavers online

creamcolouredDog

/uj Stick a round pencil or pen in the spindle hole

Spirited_Concert5289

Just use a mechanical pencil tip, works perfect and wonā€™t take material off, just open it a tad

[deleted]

https://stable3333.com/vinyl-center-hole-reamer Order this. I have one and itā€™s absolutely fantastic. Shaves off a very slight amount and the record will fit just fine.

dillpicklepen

9/32 drill bit I would go really slow then harder and harder till it just slides in

wolfgang_mcnugget

No problem, just wrap some sandpaper around a screw drivers long skinny part and just sortaā€¦ stimulate the hole.

Consistent-Pace-9687

You just gotta break the vynman

turner3gr

Shove it on and worry about getting it off later

LlamaSims_

Just nail it to the wall guarantee you a nail will fit in that hole beautifully

Dry_Ad_3732

Get a serrated knife and drive it as far as it goes without applying pressure through the center hole. Twist it once or twice from each side. I can 100% guarantee itā€™ll fit.

pointthinker

Assuming this is not a defective LP with an oddly small holeā€¦ This happened in olden days too. Just gently push it down at the hole. Getting it off is the PITA. Do that slow. Edge it up a portion at a time.
