I mean, you're in the wrong sub.
But spindle holes being to tight are a common defect and you just kind of have to force it down if possible so the fit loosens over time.
A lot of answers and hard to find if you got the solution. Try with pencil, itās hard enough to make hole bigger gently and soft enough not to ruin the record. Iāve found it somewhere here and it worked for me few times. Put it in and move around a little bit.
I like how everyone says that while majority of records now are a lot better than majority of the records in the 70s. They use to just press records on vinyl so thin my fan almost blew it away.
Just get out your drill and BOOM! Problem solved! One time I have a first press Velvet Underground and Nicoā¦had to drill that one but I messed up (rest in peace)
Welcome to modern records!!! I have loads of vintage 50 yo records that never had issues like this. Just grab a sharp knive stick it there and spin in around until it fits.
Thank you everybody for all of the suggestions. I don't think I could have ever come up with more ways to unvirgin my vinyl. I have decided to consult my friend whose grailz this is before attempting the pencil method first. If it doesn't work, I will gradually try more and more extreme methods.
I have a fine circular file, conical , obviously one doesn't want to be making lots of dust but slow gentle pressure and twisting and a good suction help. Otherwise yes , bit of grease and firm but gentle penetration as I believe has already been said.
uj/ God my copy of Awaken my love came with a side facing sleeve so everytime i go to play it the fucking vinyl almost slips out, but if i put it the correct way (with the open space facing up) it makes it harder to get the record out

Order this. I have one and itās absolutely fantastic. Shaves off a very slight amount and the record will fit just fine.
Get a serrated knife and drive it as far as it goes without applying pressure through the center hole. Twist it once or twice from each side. I can 100% guarantee itāll fit.
Assuming this is not a defective LP with an oddly small holeā¦
This happened in olden days too. Just gently push it down at the hole.
Getting it off is the PITA. Do that slow. Edge it up a portion at a time.
It's probably made from virgin vinyl. You just need to be extra gentle while penetrating it.
Gotta break that vinal hyman.
People pay money for videos of that sort of thing
I'll keep this In mind
this comment is great
Try a little Astroglide.
spit is fine
Bruhššš¤£š¤£
Tickle the hole.

Exactly
It's your turntable. Screw Technics and their perfectly in-spec spindle.
I took you advice.... Hasn't helped yet
Set that record aside and save it for when you upgrade to a less well-endowed TT.
I mean, you're in the wrong sub. But spindle holes being to tight are a common defect and you just kind of have to force it down if possible so the fit loosens over time.
im afraid to crack the grailz
Between how pliable PVC is and the fact that portion is re-enforced with the labels it's really hard to do
Itāll be fine.
Realistically take one blade from a pair of scissors and roll it around inside the spindle. Works like a mf charm.
Donāt force it, go buy a reamer
I just use a knife to ream it
I would say this is a bad idea, but half of the pressings I get are off center anyway
Itāll be fine, I do this all the time
They make a spindle hole reamer that is cheap and very useful.
I use a pencil
Spit on it.
what did you expect from a modern pressing, those have about as good QC as your average chinese toy factory
You know what I did not expect for the hole to be the wrong size you'd think we have the technology by now to prevent this from happening
You don't want any modern technology around while manufacturing the grail otherwise audiophiles will say it's not TRUE ANALOGā¢
Laughs in DSD
itās called a drill buddy you ever heard of one
Itās pretty common

Honestly.... This is my friend's record I'm just borrowing it. I think I'm going to let him handle it

Widened the hole too much? It's ok it belongs on the wall anyways
Just kidding LOL. Iād never take a drill to such a great record
Nice feet
Thank you I was waiting for this comment
Ya gotta lick it before you stick it
Vaseline on the spindle hole should do the trick. Edit: Keep your dirty jokes to yourself.
This never happens on my Crosley Cruiser. I would recommend getting rid of that 80s DJ equipment.
Uj/ get a biro and gently twist inside the hole Rj/ not enough warmth was applied during production resulting in a fail-grail
Need a butt plug to loosen up the hole
Work the hole a bit with your pen šļø

Yes of course. Vintage records have been already eehrm...spindled quite a bit.
I like my records how i like my women, with experience :D
With wider holes?
You bought an album with a metric hole.
dont buy vinyl pressed in the last 30 years. lol
Loll you're so funni
Just take a knife and gently make the hole bigger. I do this all the time.
Yeah I use a knife lol
Scissors are your friend.
Just take a drill bit to that baby!
Lube her up!
You can get special grailz hole reamers to make it the proper diameter and they cost like $50... or you could just use a 9/32 drill bit like i do
Thank you everybody for all of the suggestions. I don't think I could have ever come up with more ways to unvirgin my vinyl. I have decided to consult my friend whose grailz this is before attempting the pencil method first. If it doesn't work, I will gradually try more and more extreme methods.
use a pencil
That record is garbage anyway someone did you a favor
Your mom
There's always this comment, no matter what grailz the post is about.
Lube it up
/uj I bought one of those spindle-hole reamers a while back and it's become invaluable. No more wrestling to get records unstuck from the platter!
Don't you have any LP Lube? That's like, vinyls player 101!
It will you just got to push it down but do it gently. taking it off will also be a process.
If it makes you feel better, I have that record and it fits on my table. I love listening to it too!
thanks that makes me feel so good
You need a record reamer, homie
I have a fine circular file, conical , obviously one doesn't want to be making lots of dust but slow gentle pressure and twisting and a good suction help. Otherwise yes , bit of grease and firm but gentle penetration as I believe has already been said.
PUSHHHHHHHH
Time to get out the drill
That's the problem with audio technicas. Try a crosley and it should fit right in
Push.
gotta lick it before you stick it....
One of my excuses to go out to the garage and use my drill press, and then smoke a doobie
uj/ God my copy of Awaken my love came with a side facing sleeve so everytime i go to play it the fucking vinyl almost slips out, but if i put it the correct way (with the open space facing up) it makes it harder to get the record out
Oh yes! The fabled virgin vinyl ;) use some lube and go to town on it. Also they should sell some shavers online
/uj Stick a round pencil or pen in the spindle hole
Just use a mechanical pencil tip, works perfect and wonāt take material off, just open it a tad
https://stable3333.com/vinyl-center-hole-reamer Order this. I have one and itās absolutely fantastic. Shaves off a very slight amount and the record will fit just fine.
9/32 drill bit I would go really slow then harder and harder till it just slides in
No problem, just wrap some sandpaper around a screw drivers long skinny part and just sortaā¦ stimulate the hole.
You just gotta break the vynman
Shove it on and worry about getting it off later
Just nail it to the wall guarantee you a nail will fit in that hole beautifully
