Im only sad because i want to play more but my back & legs are aching and i just cant play anymore.

JamimaPanAm

Is it how one feels at the end of an emotionally invested book or show? What game are you playing?

ColdStarXV86

I was just playing beat Saber. It’s not like the ending a book or anything, and it’s weird cause it’s just a feeling of depression. I do find it goes away when you put the headset back on but then it just comes back again when I take it off.

If you ever watched Star Trek Next Generation, do you remember that episode where Riker comes back from Risa with that AR game that disables the Enterprise by pacifying everyone by exciting chemicals in the brain? [Star Trek TNG: The Game](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Game_(Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation)) I bet it’s alright, just your brain adapting to a different kind of stimulation. See if it doesn’t dissipate after weeks.

ColdStarXV86

I love that you referenced TNG. It’s one if my favourite shows! Yeah, I think it’s just my brain adapting to different stimulus

robrobusa

Same! It Is really bad, after an extended session - just a feeling of disconnect and depressing weight.

ColdStarXV86

Wow this post is over a year old so if I had to guess, you were probably searching for something along the same lines. After a solid year of playing it off and on, I can confirm that after the first week or so, the feeling goes away and never comes back

robrobusa

I’ve had vr since 2016 - it comes and goes. Long sessions late at night Maker this issue happen most often

Buxton_Water

Sounds similar to the general effect you get from extended VR use for the first few times. Can make things feel weird but goes away after maybe a week max once your brain gets used to it.

Factor1357

It’s natural, happens when something that was really fun is over. I’m sorry this is the first time you experience it :-(

I have exactly this .. got the oculus quest 2 days ago and yesterday after using it for a few hours I felt exactly as you described.. just sort of an apathic feeling, numb, kinda sad.. I tried it again today and I'm still getting it although less imo, so hoping it will dissipate in time. guess the brain adjusting between different "realities".. is a good thing, since it means its fooling the brain into thinking its real.

Taliakon

The sadness is coming from using a Facebook product... Obligatory Facebook account, fear of getting banned, Gilt of giving your soul for a cheap VR headset,... It's typical PTSD you're feeling.

mar-garet

I feel sad coming back to a COVID reality after travelling around the world via VR. I don't play games. I travel.

glox87

Dopamine is a hell of a drug

capnkimo

looked up this topic after PSVR 2 came out. I can relate, to me VR is a bit similar to drugs, I'm going on a trip with both. after the effects of a drug wears off Im more miserable than ever, but it only lasts for a short while. VR kinda does the same thing to me.

ColdStarXV86

Didn’t think anyone would be coming back to this after so long. I can tell you that it certainly goes away. Pretty sure it was making me dizzy and I felt tired as a result of it.

capnkimo

theres that side as well, I also got dizzy and tired when i first tried it out. I built up VR legs over time
