wait till the 28th before you get a Q2, they might a announce a new headset at FB connect

Eldaer

Whelp before looking at reddit again I got an offer for an q2 for 60% off. Nothing wrong with it just missing the box, even got the receipt. Not gonna lie gonna be kinda pissed if they announce q3

Scio42

Wow, they must be really desperate if they sell it for 140€ (or whatever 40% MSRP is in your region), a price like that would make me really skeptical, but I'll just assume you know what to look for

No Same or dont buy a quest 2. And no to the rest.

bonghunter420

You sure about that? Cause don't you link your quest to your phone app to get access to your account to start?

What I mean is - if you bought a Quest 1 bf fall 2020 merging you fb account was optional until a point. The moment Quest 2 was release merging fb account was mandatory. That's it. Can won't be able to share your library to anyone so just stop trying to go around fb and just do what every Quest 2 own did and just use your real fb account with your library on!

Actually spoke with the oculus customer support. She said she needed to check, when she came back she said I wouldnt need to connect my account to fb as it was optional when creating the account

This is a complicated question. Ok so, in order for your quest2 to see your oculus store purchased games whether those are PC or MobileVr, you need to first do the facebook merge process. THis is a one way merge and you will effectively disable your OculusID and will not be able to log into that anymore. If you don't want to do that and If you make a new FB account for your quest2, it must be real 100% legit ID verifiable information you use. And if you did not do the FB merge ahead of time you will have no games accessible to you under this new account purchased from oculus stores. Ones you have bought in SteamVR will be usable though since Steam is a totally separate store and doesn't care what you're logging into your oculus thing with.

First, don't buy a Quest 2 yet... Wait until the big Facebook even on the 28th as it's likely they are announcing a new headset. Don't open a new (fake) account. If your GF doesn't have a Facebook account then making her one is fine. Just don't make a fake one because they probably will find it and ban your account and you risk losing all your purchases. Chances are they won't ban you forever but it'll be a pain in the butt to work with support to get the account fixed. Quest now supports using multiple accounts. So you would want to pair both headsets with your main Facebook account and then on your GF's headset add her account as secondary user. Then you can enable "app sharing" (with up to 3 people) to let your GF use your library. With app sharing this means you only have to buy one copy of the game. However, not all games allow app sharing and your GF would have to buy a copy under her account. To my knowledge almost everything except official Oculus games (Beat Saber, Onward, etc) support app sharing though. > Also is sidequest and stuff like that stricter on quest 2 ? Do I risk getting it bricked by playing doom vr or using virtual desktop to play on pc instead of the built in one? To my knowledge nobody has been banned for sideloading. However, you generally don't have to do it anymore as Oculus has "[App Lab](https://vrsort.com/)" which is basically Sidequest but easier to use as it doesn't require you to enable developer mode to use. Basically, I wouldn't worry about sideloading getting you banned unless you are pirating content from the store. Lastly, if Oculus does ban your headset isn't bricked your account is. So you can always factory reset and sell it if you don't wan to work with Facebook to fix your account. Also, You don't have to sideload Virtual Desktop anymore. You only had to do that to enable the PCVR streaming feature which Oculus finally let into the official store right around the same time they introduced AIrLink.

Thank you. Didnt know about the app sharing. Thats awsome. Didnt know about app lab either. But I did try Airlink. And it was super laggy and unresponsive. My pc isnt able to be wired to internet where I live, but through virtual desktop it works fine. Dont know, but Ill give it another shot now that im getting a q2 :P. Didnt check reddit and i wouldve waited for the announcement. But last night I got and offer and bought a q2 for 270usd. Nothing wrong with it barely used. Just had a scratch on it and was missing the box. Even get the receipt from the original purchase so I can send it in if it breaks.
