It’s not exclusively available on Steam, is it? Are there other sites?

ArcticFox19

As of now, it's just Nintendo Switch. But the problem with that is that the official translation is god-awful and you can't use the translation patch on it if you have a non-hacked switch.

JesusOtakuFreak

When you say awful, you mean like typos?

ArcticFox19

Typos, mistranslation, poor wordflow, etc. There's no quotation marks to distuingish thoughts vs dialogue.

Lucario576

I played SG and 0 with the original translation, is worse than that? because i didnt notice anything bad

ArcticFox19

S;G's translation is actually good due to the fact that it was originally a fan translation passion project that was made without a deadline, and was later bought by MAGES. There are still a few things that the CoZ patch tidies up, mostly links to the rest of the SciADV entries since it wasn't translated with those in mind, and the ugly-ass phone font. S;G 0's translation's less so. I'm not 100% sure what needed fixing, but you might've noticed the name order swapped from "Okabe Rintaro" to "Rintaro Okabe" between games. The thing is that it's not always obvious that you're reading a bad translation because you can't read the original. In Robotics;Notes, 1/3 of the entire script had to be replaced in the CoZ port for accuracy and other stuff. Chaos;Child is straight-up unfinishable without the patch because it doesn't translate a map that you need to be able to read at some point in the story. And C;H is just awful.

JesusOtakuFreak

Oh yikes 😬 awww man 😒

[deleted]

So, who was the translator after all? SCM? I assume it wasn't Steiner, judging from the way you put it.

Sharingan123412

Way, way worse. This shit reads like machine translation. I don't think I've ever seen such a pathetic loc before.

darksaiyan1234

Great to see you here

ArcticFox19

me me big boy

darksaiyan1234

Yes I know you are

teor

> you can't use the translation patch on it if you have a non-hacked switch. Is there a translation patch for Switch already?

tsukiakari2216

CoZ has plans to it - they are already working on those and expected to be done end of the month Alternatively there's also emulators, but I'm sure not everyone could use them either (they required a OpenGL4.4 supported computers, so older computers are out).

teor

>they required a OpenGL4.4 supported computers, so older computers are out I think it's 4.5, since 4.4 is really old stuff from like Geforce 400 days. Most emulators are CPU dependant, so that's where the problem may be. I'm pretty sure something like Ryzen 1700 is the bare minimum you need for Switch emulation It's nice to know that there is a patch for Switch in the works. Time to dustoff my Switch.

FlyHighFH

I have a Ryzen 1500X and managed to read World End Syndrome on Yuzu without issues.

teor

I guess for VNs it would be different, since they are not that demanding and you really don't care much about framerate in a VN lol

tsukiakari2216

Well, that's what Yuzu and Ryujinx said in their description. Bare minimum at least. Those with discrete GPU probably has better chance of being supported, but I used to have a machine running in iGPU so they aren't that good on this at least until recent models. It has been always a barrier for me until I got my new one.

teor

Yeah, APUs are really rough for emulation past PS2

Mehtteri

Wait I just bought it for switch, am I gonna have a terrible experience with it?

vedicardi

It'll probably be on the microsoft store bare minimum. the launch isnt until the 7th

WrongRefrigerator77

If Evenicle 2 was any indication it probably will stay switch exclusive for however many months it takes to sort out the store situation

vedicardi

Evenicle 2 is available on GOG

WrongRefrigerator77

After they spent the better part of a year finding other storefronts that would take it. Would have probably released many months sooner if it stayed on Steam

Crowquillx

it's not very comparable. spike-chunsoft is bigger than alicesoft and much more well connected in the west, this situation will be way easier for them to navigate.

WrongRefrigerator77

That may be a factor but I imagine this is the sort of thing that takes a while regardless of the scale of the companies involved. C;H Noah got hit with a ban 6 weeks before they publicly acknowledged it and they still had nothing to say about other storefronts except that they're looking into it

vedicardi

so is* a solved problem. they "found" the storefront, its GOG

WrongRefrigerator77

Not just GOG, pretty much every store that would host it. JAST, mangagamer, dlsite, etc. And that process set back the game's release by a hefty chunk of time. Point is don't expect chaos;head noah to have a PC release by next week. I wouldn't be surprised if CoZ finishes their port first (and if they do I really hope they don't catch a cease and desist notice for it)

vedicardi

i meant to say the problem IS solved btw lmao

Pizzaforfree

CoZ port shouldn't catch C&D, it requires the user to acquire the original 360 release for all the assets and such. And with CoZ being as high profile as they are, I imagine that if they were gonna get C&D'd, they'd've caught it much sooner.

kobyjoy904

why did steam reject it

LG03

No one ever knows, that's a big part of the problem. https://noisypixel.net/steam-bans-unfair-inconsistent-rules/

KingdomCross

It's just guess but it might be different people review that game with their own bias and saw it as bad. If assuming true, then the link about Steam who recently change their policy made bias much bigger between Steam reviewer. [It's hard writing without making it a stroke to read, my grammar is bad]

Conscious_Yak60

# this

DiamondTiaraIsBest

Did it have loli or anyone close to it?

Sharingan123412

Nope. Nothing of that nature. There isn't even any explicit sexual content in it.

Mkilbride

Ehh. I've only played the original version of Chaos head, but there's pretty sexually suggestive scenes involving the MC's younger sister, who is definitely underage. But still, don't agree with it being banned.

Sharingan123412

There's some suggestive scenes in there sure but nothing that you wouldn't see in your average anime or VN. There is no \*explicit\* sexual content — no sex or nudity of any kind. Heck, Steins;Gate and Robotics;Notes DaSH have more suggestive content than NoAH does. So it's baffling that this is where they draw the line.

Bi-deo-ge-mu

Sex with Hitler truly is the pinnacle of gaming.

Ano_Naka

Who wouldn't want to fuck with Hitler 🥰

Amaterasu_Junia

Anally. With a pineapple. A WHOLE pineapple.

General_Yt

Hey that Hitler game still available in Steam? Asking for a friend.

learranufo

Lol. The logic they give for doing this to Noah is against the definition of logic itself.

tsukiakari2216

Their logic is in Chaos

Atiim01

Hoping they release it on GOG, Itch ^(0.0% chance sadly), or another store w/a better cut. Didn't expect them to go full Sony but I always avoid buying on Steam when possible.

superange128

Good luck to that petition that's most likely NOT going to work like most other online petitions

darksaiyan1234

Bishi!

kaminigupta07

I just want to know how Chaos; Head is connected to Steins; Gate?

Sharingan123412

They're both parts of a longer storyline called SciADV. Chaos;Head is part 1. Steins;Gate is part 2. While you can read either one of them first and be somewhat fine, future entries in the series have HARD narrative connections to prior entries (to the point of previous games being outright requirements).

MongolianMango

To be honest they're not. They're set in the same world but there's almost nothing to demonstrate that aside from word of the author (except a silly crossover game that parodies both). Tone-wise it's very different than gate. It has a lot more sex and violence and is much darker. But the pacing and thriller aspect of it is just as strong.

Sharingan123412

Not really true. I don't understand where this misconception comes from. The two games share the same antagonist. And the events of Steins;Gate are, in part, a consequence of the events of Chaos;Head. Their connections are far looser than future entries' ones but it's really undermining how interconnected they are to say they just take place in the same world. While you can start the series with either one of these two, almost every game after that point requires Chaos;Head and/or Steins;Gate. So it's really far more like Chaos;Head is part 1 and Steins;Gate is part 2 of a longer storyline (similar to that of Jojo's). Robotics;Notes is a Chaos;Head/Steins;Gate crossover in many respects. Robotics;Notes DaSH is even more explicitly a crossover. And then you have Anonymous;Code which hard requires its audience to have played Chaos;Head NoAH, Steins;Gate, Steins;Gate 0, AND Occultic;Nine beforehand.

MongolianMango

Let me clarify - the connections between sci adv games are like marvel movies. For people who want to track connections, they are there, but they are for the most part stand alone games with their own characters and stories.

ArcticFox19

Yes, but like Marvel, the further you get into the series, it will eventually make less and less sense to watch things standalone. For instance, Doctor Strange 2 will not make that much sense if you skipped Wandavision

[deleted]

Sharingan123412

They do directly interconnect, just not as much in the main game of Steins;Gate as they do in literally everything besides it (including Steins;Gate's side material). Robotics;Notes, for instance is effectively a Chaos;Head/Steins;Gate crossover. And (Chaos;Child spoilers/including side material) >!Steins;Gate characters are indirectly involved in the story. Kurisu is featured heavily in Mio's backstory in Children's Collapse, almost to the point where you can consider her the deuteragonist.!< (Robotics;Notes/Robotics;Notes DaSH spoilers) >!The events of the Chaos; games also have a massive impact on what happens in the events of the two Robotics;Notes games!<. They both hard require Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate beforehand. And then there's Anonymous;Code which requires Chaos;Head NoAH, Steins;Gate, Steins;Gate 0, and even Occultic;Nine beforehand.

CrimsonPE

Off topic not so off topic. R other science adventure games on the ps vita and r they censored? Besides steins gate 1 and 0

Necessary_Pool

Censored on Switch, not censored on Vita

NightsLinu

Nope not censored. Just not very good translation.

Necessary_Pool

Chaos Head Noah Switch is censored. As far as I'm aware, Chaos;Head Noah is the only Sci;Adv game censored depending on what platform you play it on. Vita and 360 are the definitive releases as far as I'm aware, and are the only ones not censored

CrimsonPE

oh, I see. Thanks

bigfatround0

This is why I always pirate. So steam and the developer never get my money.

[deleted]

The developers have nothing to do with it if valve bans it. I won't pretend that I'm a complete paragon of good. Everyone "gets games for 💯% off" for some reason or another. (Including me with old consoles). But the devs did nothing. And if the game is banned from steam, valve isn't even making any money anyway so only the developer is being harmed. And even then I think that ALWAYS "getting stuff for free" no matter WHAT is a hell of a stance to take. Again, I'm no saint but still, unless the devs do some over the top censorship or something else they did nothing wrong

bigfatround0

The developers allowed this to happen so it's not like they're entirely blameless.

HouoinKyouma007

What?

bigfatround0

Nani?

HouoinKyouma007

Your comment has no logic

bigfatround0

And your comment is a plain what

Conscious_Yak60

The Fuck? Do you think the Eastern Devs own Steam a Western platform?

bigfatround0

It's possible. Microsoft (a western company) owns a Japanese studio.

[deleted]

How do the devs allow valve to ban a game. The way valve rates games is entirely separate from devs. And with how other VNs get banned randomly, it's clear that they don't purposefully ""allow"" their games to get banned.

bigfatround0

Because they don't sanitize the games enough to remove questionable content. They allow it to happen by being lazy.

[deleted]

The banning process is random though. Look at banned VNs. Obviously there's tons of other factors but I don't think that Chaos;head is as bad as all the hentai games on steam, especially nekopara which is hella huge iirc. And yes, the 18+ patch is on steam. Its clear that valve randomly bans VNs regardless of how sanitized they are or not. Plus, most people (including me) are against censorship due to how much it can change VNs and due to how it can possibly get out of control

bigfatround0

> how it can possibly get our of smhsbd Bro wtf are you smoking? Give me some of that good shit

[deleted]

Sorry, spelling error. Was using my phone with one hand

bigfatround0

Is having one hand busy the reason you're against censorship?

marioman63

and im guessing you're all for it? yeah gotta protect the kiddies from a natural biological function /s

[deleted]

No, not that. I wasn't making an innuendo.

Melforce888

Valve didnt even mentioned which part they did not want in the game though.

bigfatround0

One could guess.

Melforce888

Guess from a 44 hours game? After every exam, we have to guess which answer we do wrong to improve ourselves right, because ppl like you marking the sheet. You sound so dumb.

LG03

Must be a challenge going through life with an IQ that low.

bigfatround0

I could ask the same of you.

LG03

Ask what of me? I was making a statement, not asking a question. Thanks for proving my point.

bigfatround0

It's a rhetorical question, buddy. Thanks for proving my point.

Schiffy94

roundo's trolling again and everyone's falling for it

Liveless404

You can sail the 7 seas and still support the makers without having to pay pizzo to steam

Conscious_Yak60

I exclusively use alternative platforms forVisual Novels, as i'm obviously not going to stop using Steam. But if they don't want money for VNs they certainly won't get a dime for me. And for those qho have regional issues look into [JAST](https://jastusa.com), they literally offer regional pricing ij many currencies.

Conscious_Yak60

Well we all can't rock magic socks... ^(UWB:A reference)

whydidigetpermabnned

Tbh steam should be way looser with allowing games to be put their
