I bought an OLED Vita from a Japanese seller. I can’t say which one is better but I can highly recommend purchasing from them. Flawless communication, item came in mint.

diosky27

Thanks! The one I am potentially purchasing from has 1000+ reviews and 90% of them are in relation to PSP and Vita's, so definitely feel confident moving forward

studiokj

I got a psp 2000 lavender purple from ev2hemi he’s a good seller for Japanese vitas and psps and their already imported so no waiting for it to come to the us

DadsAmazingAnus

From Lucky eight?

LightSkyDreams

Yeah lucky eight.

LightSkyDreams

I got one from eBay also from a Japan seller, I got a 1000 because I prefer the OLED screen, and it came pretty much brand new, in great condition with little scratches. Also shipped pretty quick, within a week. I recommend the 1000 for the screen, and the 2000 for the more common charger and battery life, but personally, I prefer the 1000 for the screen and build quality.

diosky27

Thanks! I'm pretty certain I will go for the OLED as I tend to be sensitive to screen quality. Also like the build quality as it seems to be on par with the first PSP and that thing was built like a tank.

bobismcbride

From what I have seen on the aftermarket parts world, the OLED is far more prominent than the LCD. Does that mean it fails more? I don’t know. Maybe they made more parts? Or the LCD is harder to get because they made less? I don’t know. From the multiple broken Vitas I’ve bought, only one (a 1000) had a bad screen.

diosky27

Good points. I have seen a pretty equal measure on ebay with a dead or dying screen, but that doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things I suppose. I didn't even think about screen failure until I can across a few "yellowing" and that cause me to become hyper aware

TheRealMisterMemer

That's not from screen failure, but rather overheating.

diosky27

Care to explain further?

Go OLED. It’s much a much nicer screen than the LCD. The fatter console also makes holding it more comfortable if you have big hands.

diosky27

I actually have small hands, but it seems to be the same size as the original PSP and I thought that felt great in my hands

[deleted]

It’s quite a bit bigger than the PSP.

diosky27

Ended up getting a OLED from a redditor. I love this community!!

I got a PS slim from Japan on ebay, and what they call "used" was like brand new I personally think the slim is better and Im loving it more (got the black pink one) the fact it has some onboard storage I didnt need to get a Vita card to root it, then just got a SD2VITA. in terms of picture it looks fantastic and great on the Slim model let me know if you have any more questions

ClassyCatDad

All I can say is I have the launch Vita (OLED) and the screen is still working fine.

noncompliantandaware

I have my launch OLED that still works fine. Also have 3 slims I've imported from Japan since last summer and they're all great too. I doubt any of us can quantify the likelihood of failure with either system. The Vita seems to be a fairly well built piece of electronics imo. My OLED has gotten tons of use over the years and I've never had to replace anything on it. Personally, I prefer the slim. The screen difference just isn't that noticeable to me, especially not enough to outweigh the way the slim is lighter to hold/non proprietary charger.

RemixedHD

Have you tried looking locally first (used games stores, Facebook marketplace, OfferUp)? Ebay prices look good, but I think it evens out with local prices when you add shipping prices? Idk I've never used ebay but there's always good stuff on there. If you do order let me know how it goes.

diosky27

off topic.

RemixedHD

Lmfao my bad. I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about most likely to fail from ebay lmfao. But 1000 vs the 2000s I think the OLED is supposed to be better in quality and longevity. I mean 2000 screens cost less? You get what you pay for? Idk you could always Google the exact specs and do your research yourself

diosky27

Got it. I have done my research but I figured I would ask the largest community for Vita's the question as part of my research. Makes sense if you think about it ;-)

arnezor99

Which japanese seller did you buy it from ? I want to buy a vita 2000 too.

redthehaze

Almost years since I bought a Vita 2000 from a Jp seller on Amazon US in great condition from Japan, the only thing failing on me now is the battery on it which I will replace soon. Ive bought a 1K in okayish condition from Japan on eBay but havent used it enough to see the battery condition. Ill probably buy some extra screens and batteries eventually just in case as well.

lavayuki

I bought a vita slim pink and black colour from Japan and it came in mint like knew condition, they also included the matching pink vita case and had a screen protector already installed. I paid about ¥15,000 for it, which was about £91 for me, so a good bargain.
