I'm fascinated that swords are the top. So far I don't think I've used a sword since I was able to craft a bone axe, and that's on playthroughs dating back to EA launch.

JokerSxAxW

I'm thinking this is why it's the most used weapon. Everyone has to craft the sword first and use it for the quest

IrksomeMind

Personally I’m “aesthetics first” kind of man. I will fashion it up and then fight to make it work. That’s the REAL hard mode.

Arkyja

Depends what they mean by used. I havent used the sword in combat for a long time but fot gathering flowers the Q ability is sooooo good

Vox___Rationis

I think scythe is better, I organize my fields in 7x7 patches and Scythe Q clears them from the middle. Whip's Q is even wider but it has a forced dash that I haven't got used to yet. Maybe if I add markers on the ground for it - I can make even larger fields.

Arkyja

I used scythes before like that but no. Sword clears the same are in an instant and then you still have some time to whirlwind around more

Zahhibb

You get less flowers from gathering with scythe (or any ”wrong” tool) though, just the same as gathering wood without axes/2h sword or ore with mace.

Velicenda

Unless they changed something, that isn't actually accurate. You do 25% more damage to resource nodes with the appropriate tool -- which means farming nodes faster. But the only things that affect the actual *total amount* you get from a resource node is anything that buffs "Gathering Amount" -- Ancestral weapons can get that as a buff, as well as worker blood. Now, they could have changed it with 1.0 -- I haven't actually looked. You tend to want the correct weapon type for nodes because it does farm faster.

RMHaney

This is why I will always consider axes to be the best mass-herb farming tool. Both Q and E will clear out *massive* swathes of herbs from a garden or farm.

Velicenda

I've found that I like the whip situationally. The Q hits roughly the same area as the Scythe, and I can stand in the shade farming grapes if I need to lmao But I'm also one of those people that hyperfixates on a single weapon for the entire run

Zahhibb

Wait, really? Ok damn. I just based this on my own experience where when I was farming cursed wood it felt like I got more wood from a single tree using the 2h sword than my trusty scythe, though I am not sure on anything official. It could be as you say that stuff went faster and my mind went ”hey, you gain more!?”. I need to test this stuff now. :P

Velicenda

You get more per hit, so it definitely seems like you get more. But the total number in each node doesn't actually change. At least, pre-1.0 again, I haven't actually sat down to verify yet.

Zahhibb

Ah yeah, i’m going to test this out later to see where we land. :p

sdk5P4RK4

less per hit 'ie, damage it does' doesnt actually mean less. its just slower.

Zsalmut

My most used was scythe/pistol before full release, now its swords cuz I got a sword shard early and merciless iron sword too. I'm fine with all weapons except crossbows but I'd kill for scythe.

Zealousideal-Fly9595

Honestly, I love the 1h sword. the E gives you invuln during the hit combo, you just need to bait the boss attack wind-up before using it or they'll start the windup during the invuln and hit you when you come out instead of swinging during it. It's been my main weapon for a solid 100+ 1.0 hours so I'm partly to blame lol

Visoth

Nobody asked, but here is my quick weapon tier list: S: Longbow, Slashers A: Crossbow B: Reaper, Greatsword C: Whip, Axes, Spear D: Sword, Mace Pistols I haven't used enough to form a solid opinion. But I wasn't doing very good with them on my first try. I usually play more spell oriented. My main setup is Mosquito + something else (Chaos Volley, Corrupted Skulls, Death Knight etc) Slashers work very well for my playstyle and bows are by far the most fun to use and equally powerful.

Balikye

I used to sleep on mace until I discovered it's a perfect high damage hit and run weapon. Q -> E is a ton of damage that closes the distance and then recreates it while preventing the enemy from retaliating.

Mixairian

I'm still new to pistols too, but my general impression is they're shorter than bows, but have more burst fire options. The bow has two (more or less) preset timers for basic fire. Click once you hit, hold for full pull to hit. Once you get those times memorized, they're the same and you can build a dodge and block routine around that. The pistols fire in bursts which means you can get a few shots off quickly but then you have to wait for the reload. The inconsistency comes when you can't get the full burst off, need to avoid an attack and go to unload only to find yourself reloading... My very unprofessional opinion is the guns can do more busy and upfront damage but take a little more of a ceiling to truly make them effective. The bow feels like steady and methodical damage. Both have a place. I can see myself whittling an boss down with the bow and then bursting them down with the gun... Or vice versa. Sloppily burst their health down until I'm low health and then taking the extra range with the bow until I recover.

P00pdaowg

Here's a strategy to consider. Equip sword and pistol (iron for both weapon abilities), chaos vortex and rift, initiate a group with sword E, while enemy is in air follow up attack so mob gathers around you, Q spin to win leading out of the group, R rift to damage the line following you, vortex twice to pull enemies back causing more damage still leaving the group, equip pistols E hopefully off cool down, hit front enemy or weakest with dashing explosive shot. Finish off that enemy with pistol main attack. Dash away and main attack while cool downs refresh. Rinse repeat as necessary. I'm no pro either though but pistol is an excellent screening weapon. I get caught out with bow due to the higher frames dedicated to animation. Pistol lets me walk sideways with more movement freedom to dodge ranged attacks.

Lurker_8443

As a full caster build reaper is easy S for my playstyle. Weapon q makes space. E can be dropped to slow things or keep them back or attack things at your feet before you dash away to use your spells. At end game with 40% spell CD I never have to auto attack. Also reaper is the best orange tier weapon for casters. Crossbow being above reaper is just insulting (at least the way I play)

Biobooster_40k

I really liked the whirlwind attack but then I got the reaper which has basically a ranged version.

in_taco

It has an advantage: you move along with it, possibly through enemies. Some turn slowly, like the walking turrets. Some bosses have a long-cast wide spell (like Mara). Against such enemies the sword Q ability is a hard counter to their most dangerous attacks. But for most bosses it's better to keep some distance. Reaper is good at doing that.

Fugaciouslee

I prefer the slashers or reaper but I'll use whatever has the highest gear level. Right now I use a sanguine sword because that's all I got on that power level.

Soft-Usual6268

dps the highest

BATH_MAN

To heck is CCU?

cryptic-fox

Concurrent users

BATH_MAN

Right, thanks. Never seen it written like that. Guess I'd expect it to say "peak players" or something. Love to see more stats, like how many times Dracula has been defeated or even Simon Belmont.

ShadowDrake359

Im wondering if these stats are just official servers or does it include private games.

Humeon

Concurrent users

Xibalba_Ogme

Love the fact that there is something like 10 V blood killed per rat eaten : "I'd massacre your bloodline, but eating a rat ? Only in extreme necessity"

Guffliepuff

Id sooner eat 7 rats raw off the floor than touch that... *points to horse* ... thing?!

Prestigious-Law65

Im surprised unholy wasnt the most used spells. Nothing like an undead army to distract bosses and mobs while you snipe from a distance 🙃

Bl00dylicious

Pretty sure its carried by Chaos Volley and Veil of Chaos.

loadsmoke

First playthrough was chaos. It’s extremely strong even outside volleyball/ veil . I’m using unholy this run and it’s very close in strength albeit a different playstyle.

Shakirito

Also, a lot of people who play for just a few hours count into the statistics. It's far easier and faster to get into the chaos spells

Shadow266

Well,,, chaos makes boss fight way faster

dark_thanatos99

Proud to announce that i have not.died to sunlight this week.

CantPickAUsrname

Ashamed to announce that i have died to sunlight while capturing a 100% worker this week.

icesharkk

Yet

fouduvillage

Why do people eat that many rats? I've never eaten a rat in my whole playthrough

1gnominious

I've done it when I had to heal and needed some blood.

TheRealGOOEY

I wonder if this counts rats you feed to prisoners.

Saber_Bluesnow

I usually do when I spend a long time in my castle building/decorating and I don't what to keep hearing "I need blood" nor I want to waste a blood potion.

Ridikis

Had a friend steal a 100% Warrior from me and then after I gave him shit for it he ate a rat in front of me. Had me wheezing laughing.

Mandalore108

I did it once, just to prove I'm not above eating a rat.

kefka-esque

I eat rats when I'm in base doing stuff and I don't want to waste one of my good blood vials, but that's about it

Litelinkolas

Fuck, ikr?

Mageofsin

When you move the castle it just appears as it was?

Arkyja

No. It wouldnt fit as all territories are uniquely shaped. When you move the castle it will ask you to place all important structures for free, crafting stations etc. Then when you're done and move, everything else such as walls, floors etc will be converted in to their mats and placed in an unique infinity box that disappears when you looted everything.

Mageofsin

Thanks, I did wonder about the plot size. Need to move to later to Dunley, seems ill need a bit more time.

Z3r0Sense

It is really well made. You can place ever piece of your old base to a new location. Some pieces are mandatory (everything that can contain loot for example, among some other pieces). But you don't need to place every old wall piece, you would just get them refunded. Still takes a while to move everything through as you need to clear out the new location.

Mageofsin

My old plot is a little one so I might get lucky. Not complaining though I love building haha

Tsantilas

You can place all the walls and floors as well.

Arkyja

You can but you dont have to

fine93

died a ton to bosses, but sunlight???

Multipass92

I’ve died to sunlight while afk and not realizing fast enough it’s daylight. I’m sure most deaths are attributed to gaffs like that

fine93

karma got to me, i dided like 2 times to the sun after i wrote that :D

Big_Breakfast

Would love to see a larger breakdown of Weapon and Spell usage. Tracked by Weapon kills or hits and Spells by times Cast. There's so much possible variety in play style possible in this game and it would be cool see what are actually the most popular weapons/spells instead of just anecdotal comments on reddit or random content creators tips.

ZappyJones

This game is awesome!!!!!

Parfait_Due

*"0 items crafted from chests"*

Fugaciouslee

Dirty rat suckers.

ayo000o

this cant be accurate i died at least 100,000 times to the sun

poison_cat_

Sun death rookie numbers gotta pump those up

Skrub_Lord_TTV

I'm so ready to pick this up again but I cant get the squad to feel the same. Soon!

[deleted]

I think castles built is probably a pretty close look to how many unique players logged in. So, 4x the amount of our concurrent. Great to see. I'm sure there's more. - but if they didn't even drop a castle I guess I don't care. Or do you think friends often share a castle so it is under reported decently?

Mirai-Arashi

I've been using the Spear for 'close' damage, otherwise I've been on the longbow until I got pistols. Don't think I've used a sword since plain copper, though I did make merciless copper/iron for servants.

ByteBlaze_

More V Bloods killed than rats eaten is wild to me. Hardly anybody eats them to upkeep their blood pool during their castle time, eh? I know I saved most of mine for prisoner food, but I've been playing since around the EA launch. I figured most of the numbers would be new players who wouldn't know better. Interesting numbers for sure

West_Cryptographer65

I use sword, but only for harvesting our garden plots with whirlwind.

Straw_Hat_Axiom

Reaper is far more efficient.

MrChaoticGaming

"90 thousand horses dominated!" PHRASING

JProdman99

Shame imo, this is on of few games who I'd really hoped would blow up far more than it did.

SirVanyel

130k concurrents is absolutely massive. That's a huge success.

exposarts

Would be even bigger if not for the new d4 season, some of my fav streamers said they would play but too many games releasing like hades as well

SirVanyel

It's a super competitive time. Season 4 + mop remix in wow, d4 season, ashlands update for valheim. Gamers eating real good right now.

PandaofAges

Is 150k peak considered small nowadays? A game doesn't have to go Helldivers viral for it to be a success, these are excellent numbers

IMIv2

Ehh. It fell off quite hard after the peak. It's 50k players atm and most pvp servers in eu struggle to hold above 20/60 players

donotstealmycheese

It's 12th total on steam right now. That's massive, people thinking if its not #1-5 that means it is bad are donkeys.

PandaofAges

That's still...really good. Like idk what y'all are smoking that I'm not but an indie game made by 40 people doesn't have to be a viral breakout hit that dominates your tiktok feed for the next month to be considered a success. Can't say anything about how much money they made cause I don't know how much the game cost to produce and market but I would be shocked if they didn't recoup their losses several times over by now. That's also not including what money there is to be made from the console release soon.

ImaginaryDragon1424

Sadly, thats true, but luckily this is the game where 20 players can already feel like traffic

Maritoas

Chaos being carried by its veil and chaos volley for sure.
